I really have to wonder if she has actually read “The New Collosus” or any history textbooks in her lifetime. I would think, being so close to the Bering Strait, that she would know that the indigineous people of the Americas are the only true “natives”. And if you actually read history books, you would know that “Mexicans” — the Nahuatl, Olmecan, Chichimecan, Toltec, Aztec, etc.. these people that were raped by the Europeans and then made into Mestizos and forced into slavery are the ones that should be able to claim their native lands. America forced them out of THEIR land because of the increasing amount of IMMIGRANTS from Europe. So, now people like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck and the Tea Party are showing their ignorance. It angers me, as a decendent of migrant workers, that people who do not know the struggles of these “illegal immigrants” are quick to push them away.

The vast majority of these people are hard-working, honest people, that are simply trying to provide a better life for their families. Isn’t that the same reason that the ancestors of the European Americans came???? If the native people of this land started an uprising, and claimed that all the Europeans came into this “country” illegaly, then can we send everyone back to their native lands too, right?

We live in the 21st century, yet we are all so ignorant to the fact that we are NOT true natives to this land. Even I, because of my lineage, cannnot count myself as a true native to this country. I have Portuguese, Spanish and French blood running through these veins, along with the blood of my Chichimecan, Olmecan, Tlaxcaltecs ancestors. All of the indigenous people of these lands, whether they are from what is now the US, Mexico, Central America, South America, and surrounding islands have been displaced by our European ancestors.

Quite frankly, I do not see why we don’t have a problem with people coming through our northern border as we do to our southern borders. This was once a country, based on “The New Collosus”, that prided itself with it’s rich history of immigrants, but we forget that the native people of these lands had their homes pillaged… some were forced to move further south into what is now Mexico and Central America. Some were sent to reservations in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, etc…

I stated this once before on another blog, but I’ll say it again. The “illegal immigrants” are coming home. We are the uninvited guests to this land. Remember that this land was already populated before it was “discovered” by Columbus. Before Amerigo Vespucci had these lands named after him, there were already great and mighty tribes that populated all regions of the “Americas”.
