Mike And The Mechanics – The Living Years
This song has always resonated with me, since I lost my father at a young age…! What’s on your mind tonite…?
Aloha, CT!
Hi Zed CT
Aloha, Starbuck and bb…! ;-)
Tuttle hows your piece of paradise??
I met a retired DA from Hawaii (Big Island) yesterday at a place called Edgefield. I took their family photo for them and we had a nice visit.
Soggy… It’s the start of rainy season…! ;-)
Looks like summer has extended itself in Portland, without the hot weather. Absolutely beautiful days. I hope it lasts to this weekend ,any way.
Well ya do need rain… We sure didn’t have much of a summer… unseasonably cold and still is.. sure messed up my veggie garden… and there is no weather changes going on.. we freeze and the rest of the country bakes….
Where are you located? I should know by now but getting old does stuff to the memory banks.
Bay Area RWC..
Actually, It’s a La Nina year, that’s about to transition into El Nino…! 8-(
Chiefs win….! Yeah baby…! oops…! ;-)
Pretty close to that gas explosion then. What’s happening there? Rebuilding yet?
Shit we will drown.. I remember lots of mud slides in the Santa Cruz mountains in the 80′s… Pretty bad… that summer you could walk right up on the roofs of a bunch of houses on White House Rd on the coast..
I don’t think so some have been allowed to go home who’s houses weren’t damaged, but the lost ones are still being investigated as they try and figure out just what caused it..
CHIEFS!!
**Fall 2010 – the season starts off with what “appears” to be another early Indian summer, but then Fall turns into a very wet, extended, and warmer-than-normal season w/ tropical air, torrential rains. This is going to be a longer-than-normal fall season that extends right into January 2011.
The earlier brisk air of August/September 2010 will by the end of September give way to warmer than average temperatures, and increased precipitation. Rains continue through October, November, December 2010 and into early January 2011. By the time the fall season is over, it will be early February 2011, and winter will have arrived two months later than normal.

That probably means the ski season will suck.
Oh what the hell. Nobody’s got the money anyway
My wife just got back from a 7-day camp up in the Santa Cruz mtn’s… She bought me a coffee mug from the Boardwalk… She was terrified thru-out her ‘Sky Ride’ above the Boardwalk…! Wimp, I tell’s ya…! ;-)
Tearjerker…
We haven’t been down there in quite a while.. We went up to the Russian river last month a for a few days. We were going to visit the wineries but shit it was 105!! Not exactly what you want when sampling a lot of wine. We went to the coast instead…
Whoa, an eye-opener fer sure…!
Aloha, M’dear…! ;-)
Hi Everyone,
Somewhere on the Internet a few years ago, I read a saying of the form: “In a race between Republicans, the Republican will win.” The meaning was that it’s a losing strategy for Democrats to try to be GOP-lite.
Unfortunately, I’ve googled that exact wording and couple of variants and don’t find it. Does it sound familiar to anyone else?
aloha tut
Hey you guys-
Yngwie
wig – that is strangely familiar, and elusive.
Aloha, Suz and WW…! 8-)
How’s your little bay doing, Suz…?
It seemed particularly apt for the upcoming election. Too many Dems have been following Rahm’s no-daylight tactic, and it’s backfiring.
If I knew who and what the Democrats are, I could opine on whether Rahm works for them. After Lieberman (and perhaps more so), Emanuel is the Republicans ace.
Hola, Suz!
bay’s doing well — put up before and after sunset pics tonight — not as colorful as sat nite tho
Aloha, newt…! Never knew he played acoustic guitar…! ;-)
Evenin’ Suz!
What do you think about the murder/suicide in Manzanita?
Hiya, pups.
Busy at work, and gotta get up early to give exams to kids on athletic teams, headed off to military training, etc. The most beautiful September week in years.
Same here ET. I hope the weather holds this weekend. Willie Nelson will be at Edgefield the day after my birthday, so I’m going to crash the party, so to speak. No tickets, but we can get in and sit outside the venue and listen and drink!
…headed off to military training, etc….
Huh…? Do tell, ET…! ;-)
I tried too, no luck. I’ve heard it too. Hi CT and everyone.
hollies
was just reading about it — how sad. had to look up manzanita on the map — knew it was north of me but wasn’t sure how far north.
D’oh… ROTC, of course, my bad…!
Aloha, Margot…!
Hiya, Starbuck.
CT – I have almost 250 college students in my lecture classes. Some are serving military, some NG. I’ve gotten a reputation among student athletes and students serving in the military over the years for accommodating their schedules. So I get a lot of them, ’cause some profs don’t help them much.
That’s where we hang out, Suz. My SO’s family has a vacation house which we use from time to time.
I knew the photo studio the guy ran there. I never felt welcome when I went in, yet the natives said they were both great.
I probably have a photo of his house there since I did a long series of photos of that town.
Gives me the creeps!
For some reason, I think maybe I saw Jane use that saying.
That’s kewl…! I remember losing out on credits when I had to do 7-10 day FTX’s right in the middle of a semester…! 8-(
evening, firegods – CT
Never happens in ET’s classes. If they do the work.
Okay, It was Harry Truman:
i somehow missed this…
:( very sad
Aloha, PPD…!
Way cool, newt…! ;-)
I definitely have read something like that here…something like, Give people a choice between a lukewarm Dem and a real Republican and they’ll vote for the Republican.
But I’m not finding it in a search.
That is what I told the volunteer who called me today urging me to vote for the Blue Dog congressman.
No way, I told him. He voted with Stupak and voted against abortion rights. Volunteer unwisely said, “Oh, but you have to remember where you are.”
“I KNOW where I am. I’m in a very blue collar union many-generations-of-Democrats area, that is my neighborhood. You just have a fake Dem congressmen who thinks he can vote however his pissant little blue dog club tells him, because they think we’re stupid.”
I finally had to hang up, was getting too mad.
oh thank you, that was gonna bother me!
evening, margot
Hey PPD, good to see you
November political choices less than optimal in OH, margot?
Ya gotta love the Aussies…
Australian lawyer smokes pages of Bible and Koran, asking ‘Which is best?’
I think that is why I don’t ever do phone banking.
So long as the Dems keep a majority, I’d prefer Republicans to Blue Dogs for a number of reasons, e.g., a Republican would not get to vote for the who is to be the Speaker of the House. A Blue Dog would get to vote and would push for a conservative speaker.
night all – be well
Aloha, PPD… I shall join ya…! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
G’nite PPD, CT, and Margot if your still here. I’m off to sleep too.
I like that song too, but I think it has a contradictory message – one is “say what you need to say” because we won’t be around forever and the second one is “don’t open up a quarrel between the present and the past”.
Sometimes, what you need to say will open up a quarrel, or even a huge rift in the relationship – or even end the relationship.
But I have always followed the idea of saying what you need to say – because without honesty in a relationship, you have nothing.
