Fox News host Glenn Beck says he will donate his speaking fee for a pricey rally with former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Beck and Palin had drawn criticism over the planned rally in Anchorage, Alaska, where tickets start at $65 and run as high as $200 for a VIP package that offer a chance to meet the tea party stars.
“Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event,” a Beck spokesman told POLITICO.
Really? Because The Quitter never mentioned the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in her original Facebook post.
Kind of a curious omission, isn’t it?
Event promoter Christopher Cox says the 9/11 date is a coincidence. Cox originally eyed Sept. 4, but didn’t want to compete with the Alaska State Fair.
Hmmm. If the date is a coincidence, why would Beck “always intend” to donate his fee? And why would The Quitter write,
I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will “never forget.”
Time for Sullivan to add this one to his “Odd Lies of Sarah Palin” Part MCXVII.

“Palin insisted that there would be “no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots
who will ‘never forget’and get hammered.”Surely not the same Christopher Cox who kept such a close regulatory eye on the financial sector throughout the second Bush term while helming the SEC?
There was a troll who mentioned this in David Dayen’s Round Up last night. Not sure why exactly, Palin is certainly not a focus of mine, Beck either for that matter. But I was curious why a fee was even offered if Beck was going to donate it anyway. I also wondered if Beck was going to declare it as a deduction on his tax form.
Anyone know how much this “Special Operations Warrior Foundation” actually pays out?
Is it a charity or is it a scam posing as a charity?
You bet. Competing with the Alaska State Fair would be almost as bad as competing with the Wasilla Bowling League run-offs.
One of the few reasons to pay much attention to the likes of grifters shilling for payola, like Tammy Faye Beck & the Queen of BabbleOn, is to possibly embarress them into, you know, donating some of their filthy lucre to a potentially worthy cause. Making money offa 9/11 is particularly gross, imo. That’s just me, of course, a worthless hippy who finds it tawdry, tacky and disgusting to make money off of the death industry. But what would I know?
I would be surprised, though, if this “charity” wasn’t much like Sean Hannity’s, in that Sean gets most of the payola and the Vets get like 1% of the “take.” Meh: more grifter shill shinola.
Oh sure: the date of 9/11 was the same kind of “coincidence” that Father Beck Coughlin’s other tent-show grifter revival event just happened to “coincide” on the anniversary of the MLK “I have a dream” rally.
Sure. A coincidence. Riiiiiggghhht. You betcha! also too.
I’m pretty sure this is the outfit that Sean Hannity was busted over a coupla years ago, paying all his and his family’s first-class expenses with very little left over to pay anything to children of heroes; so many of their scams intentionally sound alike, though, that I’d need further research to confirm.
Believe it when I see it. Nixon died owing the IRS $600,000 he promised to pay when he left the WH. And he was hella honest compared to these two grifting schmucks.
I’d put the chance of that at somewhere around 100%.
HA! Good one!! IF it were the Chris EVERY Rethuglican on the planet would have had there big oil bribes directed for donations by now…!!! Har…Har…Har…
Let us know what you find out, but it wouldn’t surprise me. If it’s not the same scam, uh, “charity,” then it’s 99% certain to be the same kind of grift, uh, scam, uh, “charity.” IMO, of course.
Look for the fine print that reads: “Proceeds will go to the [fill in charity here] after initial costs of the event are paid…”

“Gouging Rubes: An American Fleecing”
SOW Foundation – another coincidence?
Yeah: the “initial costs” are Glenn Ostean’s & the Snowbilly Grifter’s speaker fees, travel expenses (and the snowbilly only travels on Lear Jets these days, doncha know), and THEN there will be some giant fee for renting the hall, security, etc etc (which can be manipulated to siphon more off for Beck & Palin), plus we gotta pay Tawd & the kidz something, and buy them clothes, yadda yadda….
this isn’t a commemoration of 9/11 and its victims, it is a celebration of 9/11 profiteers and their alaka-sized egos. VIP tickets, really???
And those initial costs include M&M sorting, waxing, and botox injections.
David Dayen has a fresh cross-post available: Letting Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich Expire: Massively Popular
““Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event,” a Beck spokesman told POLITICO.”
Bullshit. Beck doesn’t even change religions for free. It’s all a calculated free-market business decision.
He’s not going to donate a large percentage of what he’s getting for this, and neither is Palin.
Apparently calendars are like newspapers – when you read all of them, you can remember what’s in any of them.
Leave it to Punaise to give me the title for my next post.
She can’t think of a “better way than to commemerate9/11″ that to organize a paid event? Figures, and I am taking her at her word. She can’t think of a better way than promoting herself and making some money. She who has made $12 million dollars since quitting her job. She can only think of herself. She shits on the very idea of sacrifice. She may be little better in that regard than most within 2 degrees of what we call politics or government today including most of this adminstration but the sheer scale of her act boggles the mind.
:~)
(golf claps)
“fore!”
I’m sure she feels like it is a noble title bestowed for life, but she isn’t Governor anymore. At best, she is ex-Governor, but I don’t think someone who cuts-and-runs is even worthy of that title.
