Need to get to bed, but watching coverage of the San Bruno fire. One confirmed fatality and others anecdotal. They’re calling for O-neg blood as that’s what they use in an emergency, but will be needing all types in the days & weeks ahead.
Saw one semi-light moment when firefighters rescued a large dog from a threatened house. Got him out and were sort of standing around, but with a disgusted look over his shoulder the dog just started marching away from the fire dragging his handler along.
we took my mother to half moon bay for dinner and considered heading home by way of pacifica and up sharp park to skyline. looks like we would have landed right in the middle of it.
Been there, bought a brand new Honda 450 motorcycle at San Bruno Honda back in 85.
I couldn’t get the video to load but it looks nasty. El Camino real runs right down the middle of it.That’s where the dealer was too.
Completely off schedule. I stacked a cord of wood on Wed and another on Thurs. Was tired to the point of incoherence (just asked anyone here on Wed evening). To night feel asleep in front of TV hours ago, woke up after 3 hours, now not sleepy.
the tv crawler said near the intersection of claremont drive and glenview drive. googled it, and it’s nearer to skyline, above the 280-380 interchange.
OK kiddies, I need to get some beauty sleep, it is going to be tough to put ten years worth into one night but I haz a date tomorrow afternoon.
If I can get my lazy butt out of bed and get somewhat presentable.
See ya’s later.
G’Thud.
It’s that time of year in the temperate zone if you use wood for heating any part of your house. My yard guy splits the wood, I stack it. Got a pro who cuts down dead trees, and he’s been busy here with his assistant for more than a day, so I’ve got lots more wood to pick up, to bring back to near the house for splitting. I need about another 1/2 cord for this coming winter, but think my pro guy has cut another cord or more, so have a head start on next winter. I had him cut down one very large live oak tree that grew at an angle, with branches hanging down into the Wallkill River at high water. Caught every piece of debris that floated downstream during spring high water. That will be fabulous woodstove wood, for the 11-12 season.
i heat solely with wood — my wood guy brings it to me and stacks it for me. his two daughters are my hired girls who bring a weeks worth upstairs each week for me. that oak is gonna burn nicely
these corkheads are comparing it to the Marina fires in 1989 …. looks more like the Oakland Hills fire to me. Not much chance of escaping an exploded 24 inch gas main.
I’ve got a lot of large elms that are still dying owing to dutch elm disease. So that’s most of my wood for this winter with some left over for next. Also still have some standing large dead elm, more in the thicket, for next year. I have more than enough property to provide my own dead trees. More expensive to cut them down & burn them than to buy wood, but I hate to see standing dead trees, so part of the property maintenance expense.
So when I had my colonoscopy I found out that the drugs that they give you don’t knock you out they just make it so that you don’t remember it happening. I thought that was really bizarre. Like a drunk black out. So I wanted to videotape myself talking during the procedure to see what I was like while awake but drugged. You know to see if I gave away any secrets or stuff.
So I come out of the haze with a bit of hallucinations and made the same strange comments to Mrs. S twice. I later was told by the nurse that I made a joke during the procedure which was very funny. Which sounds just like me. Something about seeing a sesame seed in my colon. “Hey, that was my lunch!” (It was funnier I think than that)
But it’s this think like hypnosis, I’m still me even when I don’t remember.
A while ago someone told me about a really nice thing I did for them that I didn’t remember doing. It made a big impression on them but for me it was just the normal thing I did. It was nice to hear that. I remember reading in one of those “life after death” books that when you die you see to see your good deeds through the eyes of the people who you did them for and vice versa.
How about Virginia A. Phillips telling Barack H. Obama that he can’t enforce DADT anymore? And how about the fact that the suit was brought by the Log Cabin Republicans. If that had been a Dem iniative, or better yet an Obama decision, it my have partially closed my enthusiasm gap. Ah, the lost opportunity. Sigh.
The Oakland Hills fires had a huge amount of acceleratant – trees. This is confined. Awful, but nothing like Oakland. I’m familiar with this neighborhood in San Bruno.
I’ve also been canning(/freezing) out the wazoo, which contributed to my exhaustion. Not used to standing on my feet over a hot stove. Got another 1/2 bushel of tomatoes I’m picking up on Friday to can/freeze. Then food preservation work is done. I’m pretty much out of frozen soups & other food dishes (took out the last of last year’s frozen moose chili for dinner tonight), so as the cooler weather sets in, will replenish those freezer stocks. Gotta wait for hunting season for my hunter friend to provide me with ground meat for my new batches of chili. Yum.
I’m fine. I had a GREAT chat with the guy behind “Stopbeck” he did a lot of the same stuff I did on K S F O only on Beck. And he has had the same experiences with our various liberal think tanks. He is going to be on a radio show tomorrow so I gave him some advice. I told him that although the big cheese folks won’t support you, I would.
Yes. At the top of Glenview is a Presbeterian church, then a huge shopping mall parking lot. To the West is another stand of homes that sits on what used to be an empty lot, then Skyline Blvd. That part of Glenview is as steep as Lombard Street, but straight. It’s very dangerous on a bike.
I was hypnotized in a group of about 30, which is how my late husband & I gave up smoking. It was amazing. I was conscious of what was going on the entire time: hypnotist said your arm is raising up, and sure enough mine did. But it worked. Subsequently tried it in a private session for eating but it didn’t work. That was a long time ago. Still not sure what to make of the two very different experiences. Guessing that being anonymous in a group worked better with me than being a single person (more defensive). But who-the-hell-knows.
Ah! Chili. I love chili but I never have made one that I loved, personally. I’ve had others I’ve liked a lot though. I liked my mom’s chili and asked her for the recipe.
“French’s Chilio seasonings.” she replied
I was devastated. Then I figured out why. Good home made chili can take a long time to make! Her method was fast. Brown hamburger, dump in seasonings, water, can of tomatoes, can of beans. Heat. Serve.
Other than that, I forgot that Chicken a la King is the next bestest thing. Next time I’m at the soopymarket, will buy a chicken and make the really good recipe.
I don’t know. We both were frustrated by the lame response of the PTB to our skill set.
We both lamented the fact that if we were doing this on the right we would be paid and valued. That we do it for the left is somehow an embarrassment.
One of the things that I told him was that I had figured out how to monetize this I would love to hire him or work together. I actually do know how to monetize my skills, but I just don’t want to do it for most of the people who will pay for it.
I knew someone who got his ear accupunctured, and a little metal earring in that spot, and he quit smoking. Then he started overeating so they put another little earring in another spot, and that worked too.
Your mom’s recipe sounds good to me. I decided that, as I like tomatoes in chili I ought to use locals, processed by me, but that could be considered excessively OCD, and I wouldn’t argue. Cumin and the kind of seeds that go into rye bread are particularly important for a good chili. Other than that, throw in whatever you like.
I had a leftover ear of corn, so cut it off the cob & threw it in. One of the values of chili.
i was reading something yesterday or day before about cenk and his young turks show — about how he is using new media to circumvent the ptb… maybe he is a person to approach about getting the message out in spite of the pt
People in the neighborhood saying they’ve been reporting the smell of gas to PG&E for the past week, then they come out and say they can’t find anything.
A few neighbors tell CBS 5 that they smelled gas in the area over the past week. PG&E came out because residents were complaining about the smell. But, according to the neighbors, they did nothing.
Late to the party, but waving to all!
I was hypnotized in front of a big psych class in college. I didn’t “believe” in it beforehand, but clearly remembered myself putting my arm in a huge bucket of ice and leaving it there with no discomfort. Being the control-freak that I am, I’ve avoided it since then.
Not in my comfort food lexicon, but can unnerstan how they would be. Besides c-ala-k, my other big comfort food is pork shoulder, saurkraut over smashed potatoes.
Made some homemade mac & cheese last year. Simple version was yum, but more complicated version (bacon, & I forget what else) worked only first time, frozen leftovers not so much. Homemade simple version not much more complicated than packaged but much better.
My Tex-Mex chile:
Gr. beef, browned with little olive oil and tiny bit water
Add Garlic, chopped or smashed
1 packet generic chile spice
several table spoons ground red chile from NM
2 cans chile beans or 1 can chile beans, 1 can black beans
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 little can tomato paste
I used hypnosis to deal with my insomnia. It was also interesting.
My big break through was that I was never “at home” from work. I was always “on” It was a function of my job. I was one of the early adopters of cell phones and email the “always connected” people. I would be working 16 hours a day and my boss was leaving me messages at 5 am in the morning. I was sleeping but I knew that there was work still out there waiting for me.
I was constantly in “launch” mode with clients waiting for me to finish one launch so I could move to the next. The pace was brutal. One of the people who came to work for me said, “I did more in a month that I did in three years at my old place.” We were macho about the pace and the stress. that other people couldn’t handle. One woman worked for us for a week and quit. “You people are insane!”
I had a near disaster in my house. Had a fill-up of LPG gas tank during a period when I used maybe 1/8/tank/year. Turns out my gas stove had a leak (defective ‘new’ part installed), which was subsequently fixed. When I asked my caretaker (college student) who lived in the house full time while I was a week-ender, he said he smelled something funny, but thought it was dead mouse somewhere. He wasn’t supposed to smoke in the house, but did. It took me about a year to overcome all the emotions of that near miss.
lardy…. when they do get it cut off and the fire out they will be able hunt for more remains. 6:15pm is getting home from work in time for dinner for a lotta folks
I think that what Cenk is doing is very exciting. And Glenn Greenwald has been raving about the quality of the Skype interview that he is now able to do from Rio.
So now it doesn’t cost so all that much to produce a first-rate news show.
When I went to fire school as a child (really!) I watched at they trained the volunteer fire me to put out gas fires and other kinds of fires.
the magnesium fires were always fun to watch, “Don’t use water! Here is what happens with water on a magnesium fire! WOOOSHH!”
These guys in rural midwest would never have to put out a magnesium fire, it was to show off the Purple K and to make some fireworks. On the other hand putting out propane tank and gas fires was a thing they needed to know.
You poor guy…that sounds like a killer pace.
I worked in a hospital and constantly was answering patient call lights and buzzers. I have a cheap cell phone (finally, this summer) and don’t carry it around because I don’t want to be on call 24/7. In fact it’s out of minutes and I don’t care, have house phone.
Thanks, Suz. I’ve been having a rough week emotionally, so my heart churned when I saw my post next to a fire update. I’m usually a news junkie, but with our fire history the past few years, I’m taking a pass on the in-depth coverage of this story.
i remember fdl during katrina and how we were all news junkie-ing for info and using snark and humor and music and general conversation to help take the edge off the horrors. i’ve tried to do that since then
Man, that’s tragic. Heard something briefly on the news tonight in passing, but missed the part about the gas leak. From the photos, those homes look close together. When one goes, it’s easy for the next to catch.
When Glenn first got on the Skype I send him a link to directions to better light himself and info on better microphones. I told Salon they should pony up for some better microphones. They didn’t, but Glenn did a fundraiser for himself and got some equipment.
Of course the AEI and the Cato institute have their own studios. Politico has 3 PR people pushing their people on their shows. A lot of people don’t know that. We are up against wingnuts with PR budgets. They have their own network and it’s still not enough they need to infect the MSM. The MSM has on college professors with no media training against some some guy in a professionally lit studio.
You know this Gulf Seafood issue I’m working on? Rikki Ott is good, but the people who’s work I want to push need help. ugh. I getting started again. time to cool off.
they have to cut off the gas completely before they can get to the site of the original explosion …. in other news, the crackhead preacher in Florida has agreed to be ***edited in moderation*** like a heretic, just as long as they use other religions’ holy scriptures to put the rest of us out of his misery.
***MODNOTE: lets not go there please***
It appears that the technical equipment for a good say news studio is quite modest, but I’m sure that professional producers, advisers, and promoters get very pricy very fast.
Reports said it went off at 4pm Pacific, and was shut off gas wise by 6pm.
Knowing the fuels up there, and the winds, and the fuel from a gas line, it would NOT surprise me to learn, it’s still burning long beyond the time the MSM has offered?
our infrastructure is crumbling and no one wants to fix or repair because everything is all about the profits now. *spitting*
there was lotsa talk about fixing infrastructure after the bridge collapse in minnisota but talk seems to be all that we get — nothing gets repaired or fixed.
I can’t contest anything you say, having not been there since ’03 or so, for drive by’s.
I’d be INCREDIBLY surprised if any eucs were cut down, for any reasons.
But as I said, I haven’t been there in that region for a drive thru since long ago.
This explosion, and it’s subsequent fires, point to a really UGLY sitch.
And some of it, thru links of others by now, 11:30pm our time, really looks ugly.
You don’t get that ugly without fuel. Be they euc’s or not. Sneath Lane (where this puppy originated up near 280/Skyline Blvd) was fuel rich then, I’d expect it’s fuel rich now.
Not questioning you.
The prevailing winds up there blow North to South, and North-West to South-East, and Sneath is North of the fire. It is likely to travel up Glenview and further into the ravine to the east, unless the wind stops completely.
just got an email from a friend in marin county who say the news reported:
pg&e have capped the gas line and have now stopped the gas to lesser lines into houses…the force blew out massive concrete roadways and took down the whole water system so they couldnt get water to fight it and finally got it from 2 miles away…now there is a giant crater with water very deep in it..
Good nite Larue. I’m calling it a nite also. Good nite Suz & all. And congratulations, Suz, on being a soon-to-be grandma. You’ll love every minute of it.
Yer late…
hey busted – how ya doing tonight dood?
Yikes!
It’s achieving clarity the night before the colonoscopy that’s a pain in the ass.
evening, Suz – firegodz
hey newton — how ya doing tonight? that fire close to your neck of the woods?
hey wigwam — how’s the inland empire tonight?
I’m fretting.
I’ll get over it. I yam what I yam.
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
In response to Suzanne @ 7
A local gal, Ginny Phillips, did good today.
Oh my wigwam, how nicely you put “achieving clarity” the night before. I could call it many other things.
toot toot
watching news at 10 video of the san bruno catastrophe — looks like stimulus funds run amok to me
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
Fine, Suz. No, the fire is maybe 20 miles away, but I’m familiar with the area. Pretty dense burbs.
infrastructure…. our infrastructure maintenance is put off and deferred and neglected
Got him out and were sort of standing around, but with a disgusted look over his shoulder the dog just started marching away from the fire dragging his handler along.
whew… i knew you were west bay but wasn’t sure where…
we took my mother to half moon bay for dinner and considered heading home by way of pacifica and up sharp park to skyline. looks like we would have landed right in the middle of it.
Super duper, but what a night on the blogs. Man, I was freaked out about the Seminal tonight. Very happy to be here.
hey hijean — are you in the bay area? how ya doing tonight?
Good evening.
A doc once handed me the camera eyepiece, so I can truthfully say I’ve looked up my own ass. Never went back to the guy.
holy moly spur — thank goodness ya didn’t take the scenic route…
how ya doing tonight?
hey ecahn — yikes.. how ya doing tonight?
Been there, bought a brand new Honda 450 motorcycle at San Bruno Honda back in 85.
I couldn’t get the video to load but it looks nasty. El Camino real runs right down the middle of it.That’s where the dealer was too.
eCAHN,
This is truly the best comment at FDL, ever.
i almost went with the prostate video
otherwise things are fine here. how are things up there?
tis up the hill close to 280 busted — in the residential area and not downtown
doing well :) weather was overcast but in the mid 60′s so not a bad day today
exactly, Suzzz — looks like Baghdad on SF Bay
Completely off schedule. I stacked a cord of wood on Wed and another on Thurs. Was tired to the point of incoherence (just asked anyone here on Wed evening). To night feel asleep in front of TV hours ago, woke up after 3 hours, now not sleepy.
So hangin’ out for now.
and not in the way herb cain meant it… :(
Either way, from what little I could see, it is way fucked up for some folks.
evening, CE, eCAHN
Freaky, let me assure you. I said no, but the doc insisted.
that’s a lotta stacking ecahn. no wonder ya fell asleep. you sure do keep busy
the formerly magic kingdom
the tv crawler said near the intersection of claremont drive and glenview drive. googled it, and it’s nearer to skyline, above the 280-380 interchange.
Hey! Fall is here, and I am loving the low temps.
Aloha, Suz…! The title almost scared me off… Almost…! ;-)
latest update from sf chronicle (10:03pm west coast time)
Live video from local tv indicates that this is up the hill near skyline, not on the El Camino flats
OK kiddies, I need to get some beauty sleep, it is going to be tough to put ten years worth into one night but I haz a date tomorrow afternoon.
If I can get my lazy butt out of bed and get somewhat presentable.
See ya’s later.
G’Thud.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
g’nite busted
Sept & Oct. offer the best weather of the year on Monterey Bay
G’thud, dood…! ;-)
hey CT
So glad to see you all. Hope everyone is safe and well.
*heh* Like a broken record… 77 degrees…! *sigh*
the commentary by these tv reporters is ridiculous to the point of being unwatchable

Welcome to the Peninsula.
When Dennis Richmond left KTVU, local TV coughed up it’s final furball and keeled over.
Re Rush & Jones, LN, I found this link. Not sure whether the site is bogus or reputable. Could be a quick made-up site, but if so, well done.
Aloha, PPD…!
Btw, The Emperor Has No Clothes…

hey spocko — they used to give a drug to women in childbirth that did nothing for the travails but did erase the memory. how ya doing tonight?
The Oakland Hills fires had a huge amount of acceleratant – trees. This is confined. Awful, but nothing like Oakland. I’m familiar with this neighborhood in San Bruno.
Hey PPD, glad to see you.
confined for now — NW winds blowing through the San Bruno Gap down toward SFO
Nite, all!
except that iirc the oakland hills fire burned 3000+ houses
Good one. Recc’d.
BTW, did you get all the way through Chas Freeman’s address to the Norweigens? I thought it was excellent.

I salute you!
I much prefer cold weather food. Well except for the tomatoes, sigh.

53 homes destroyed with 120 damaged so far, newt — depending on the winds, this could be like Oakland Hills
Oxtail stew. Anyone know if that’s safe to eat yet? Remember when it wasn’t due to Mad Cow…

Catching up on comments. Good nite, Christine. Sorry I missed ya.
Ah, fall. Hate to see it come, especially the early sunset. But the occasional balmy days of autumn can be glorious.
People in the neighborhood saying they’ve been reporting the smell of gas to PG&E for the past week, then they come out and say they can’t find anything.
52 homes destroyed, 125 damaged.
5,000 people without power.
Three bodies discovered in one home.
Amazing photos and coverage here

I need it more, but yer a better compeller.
Ya fuck ya.
N that’s my August reply, and yes, I KNOW it’s Sept. Live with it, Weaseler.

i love simple. my mom’s shepard’s pie recipe called for using as much of the refrigerator leftovers as possible. worked 99% of the time

One woman worked for us for a week and quit. “You people are insane!”
I get stressed just thinking about it.
24 inch high pressure gas line exploded — over four hours later, they still haven’t cut off the gas supply. Fire is estimated at 50% contained.
Alert the media: we had a sunny day! It was gorgeous today, and I think folks were a bit giddy after so much fog.
Oh nice. Thanks!
I fervently hope MSNBC does give Cenk a slot…! He’s done a great job in filling in for Ed, Dylan and others of late…! ;-)
It feels awful to have my light-hearted post adjacent to this story. My heart is with those affected by the fires tonight.
The ABC affiliate just showed tape of newly-engulfed homes.
don’t worry about it sb — we’ve been being light hearted (hell, look at my video up top). sometimes ya have to laugh or else ya cry
I think that what Cenk is doing is very exciting. And Glenn Greenwald has been raving about the quality of the Skype interview that he is now able to do from Rio.
So now it doesn’t cost so all that much to produce a first-rate news show.
BTW, what means “PTB”?
When I went to fire school as a child (really!) I watched at they trained the volunteer fire me to put out gas fires and other kinds of fires.
the magnesium fires were always fun to watch, “Don’t use water! Here is what happens with water on a magnesium fire! WOOOSHH!”
These guys in rural midwest would never have to put out a magnesium fire, it was to show off the Purple K and to make some fireworks. On the other hand putting out propane tank and gas fires was a thing they needed to know.
Yo Pups, lots of stuff on the plate tonite I know.,
Today, yester day, tomorrow.,
We is busy Pups, one and all.
Bless Suz N Busted for good musics, while I’m at it.
Busted is at it as much as any of us are.
Bless ya hoss, you and me, jobs.
But that’s not why I’m still here.
It’s LLN, this is Suz Night, and here’s my contribution.
One Of The Best, Evah
I never thought I’d see Los Lobos, my honey never heard them till I got onto internet radio. ’02 or so.
And one fest, Los Lobos came to Strawberry Music Fest.
I weeped, honey was amazed (she ain’t always amazed at this music I like) and the fest crowd was wild.,
Los Lobos. Hildalgo. I hold them up there with the best evah.
The Butterfield’s.
The 60′s.
Dead.
All SF Sounds.
All 60′s Top 40 sounds, all Brit Invasion. Think about it, there’s Brit Invasion in Los Lobos. They COVER Beatles Tunes!
Los Lobos, all gods they are.
*G*
He ten time better that Larry O’Donnell.
powers that be
I don’t think they’ll know the full impact until daylight tomorrow
Powers That Be.
hey larue — how’s sac tonight?
You poor guy…that sounds like a killer pace.
I worked in a hospital and constantly was answering patient call lights and buzzers. I have a cheap cell phone (finally, this summer) and don’t carry it around because I don’t want to be on call 24/7. In fact it’s out of minutes and I don’t care, have house phone.
yeah
Thanks, Suz. I’ve been having a rough week emotionally, so my heart churned when I saw my post next to a fire update. I’m usually a news junkie, but with our fire history the past few years, I’m taking a pass on the in-depth coverage of this story.
Hi spocko,
Thanks.
You too, Suzanne.
I should have known that one.
i remember fdl during katrina and how we were all news junkie-ing for info and using snark and humor and music and general conversation to help take the edge off the horrors. i’ve tried to do that since then
locations are gonna have to cool down before they can really search… this is not a one night incident unfortunately
It was. You are wise to control your electronic leash or it will control you.
One of my problems is that I’m an “all or nuthing’ guy. When I’m in I’m IN. And I have trouble moderating my pace.
“What are you weaknesses?”
“Some times I work so fast I become invisible.”
Even in the 70′s there was a ton of eucalyptus.
That stuff burns fast. Heavy oils in that stuff.
All flammable.
they have to cut off the gas completely before they can get to the site of the original explosion …. in other news, the crackhead preacher in Florida has agreed to be ***edited in moderation*** like a heretic, just as long as they use other religions’ holy scriptures to put the rest of us out of his misery.
***MODNOTE: lets not go there please***
Sigh, it’s gotten much worse. It seems, since sundown, there in San Bruno.
I know them places, I know the woods of the rise.
Even in the 70′s.
Sigh.
Time for my second sleep. Gnite all.
g’nite ecahn
Luv to all.
I used to frequent Sneath Lane, on an old Triumph. Access from 280.
It was always more fun and cooler than Bayshore Freeway (101).
As I’ve said earlier in this thread, a few blocks down to the Peninsula, but less than a mile from the blast site.
That was around ’74 or so.
Can’t imagine the ucalyptus are any less dense now, than then.
night, eCAHN
thanks, Mod — didn’t mean to step over the line.
***MODNOTE: No problem***
Oh shit, no.
Really?
Damn . . . .
It appears that the technical equipment for a good say news studio is quite modest, but I’m sure that professional producers, advisers, and promoters get very pricy very fast.
Someone told me, and I don’t know if it’s accurate, that the enviros finally lost, and Sneath has been cleared of the eucalyptus trees.
Anyway, Sneath is a good distance (at the moment) from the blaze.
Reports said it went off at 4pm Pacific, and was shut off gas wise by 6pm.
Knowing the fuels up there, and the winds, and the fuel from a gas line, it would NOT surprise me to learn, it’s still burning long beyond the time the MSM has offered?
I don’t know.
You?
it’s a serious infrastructure failure in san bruno … unfortunately, something the Society of Civil Engineers has been railing about for ten years.
Yeah, given all that’s gone on since the origin of this mess, at this point, 11:30 pm Pac Time, I agree.
sf chronicle says it went off at 6:15 and is still burning — gas is not shut off yet
We aint’ burning.
More stuff out there, than here.
Temps are down and winds are kewl.
I got nuttin to complain about.
You?
Hi Larue, good to see you here tonight. How’s the job hunting goin’ if I may ask.
You’re right – about dynamite speakers like Ott, and about time to cool off. Then get up and hit ‘em again.
I’m going to be covering the Wasilla-Eagle River-Anchorage rehearsal for the 2011 Beer Hall Putsch all day Saturday.
That’s been a good model, one I’ve wanted to use when I can.
Srsly, good model. I’m not always the best at it, but, it’s a great model.
We pups owe ya a lot, GrandMa.
;-)
our infrastructure is crumbling and no one wants to fix or repair because everything is all about the profits now. *spitting*
there was lotsa talk about fixing infrastructure after the bridge collapse in minnisota but talk seems to be all that we get — nothing gets repaired or fixed.
hey et — how ya doing tonight?
long, 14-hr day at work followed by a board meeting. loved it.
press conference with city officials seemed to indicate that they still had residual gas burning tonight. Don’t know more than what’s on tv now.
aw thanks dood. *blushing*
Shit, just looked at them pics.
I know that area.
I knew people in that area back in the ’70′s.
Shit, that’s ugly, this is worse than I imagined.
Dawh help them all.
i’m looking forward to reading your coverage of the beer thingie et.
Ooh, I can’t wait for all the salacious details…! ;-)
And when I had scrubs on, I could be 3 places at once.
Or so the hospital expected, anyway.
i’m surprised sarah is doing beer — most of the fundies i know swear off the devil’s drink (at least in public)
((eCAHN))
I’m not sure why you are questioning me.
This WAS near Sneath Lane, and Skyline Blvd.
I’ve driven that area, a lot, in my teens.
Last week, I wrote about Joe Miller pathological liar.
Today Palingates writes about Joe Miller pathological CROOK and liar.
This might be a big story by morning. A $500,000 plus lie on his campaign disclosure form. Even in Alaska, that might not pass muster.
iraq style infrastructure contractors — get paid billions for doing nothing
Much worse than what was revealed back earlier tonight at 6pm news.
Thanks. I’m in Sacto, I wish all of them there, the best possible.
I knew people on Sneath Lane.
Hey ET! The link on your “Joe Miller pathological CROOK and liar”is wrong
I saw a lady in the news say she didn’t know where her daughter was and had not heard from her. The images are nasty and horrid.
Are you in the region? I’ve not lived in San Mateo since ’88.
Fork – wrong link.
Here’s the right one.
Sorry
hey mary mac — how ya doing tonight?
maybe Suzanne or the lurking mod can clean up my mess on aisle 166…
Not questioning you.
The prevailing winds up there blow North to South, and North-West to South-East, and Sneath is North of the fire. It is likely to travel up Glenview and further into the ravine to the east, unless the wind stops completely.
I had a SF Gate story that said it went off at 4:15.
Interesting . . . still, it’s uglier than reported at first, or even later.
Sigh.
I gotta go zzz . . . things to do tomorrow.
Bless ya Grandma, and all other Pups. Be safe, we well, and take care of yer selves and others when ya can.
Times are tuff for us all. Sigh.
interactive map of the fire zone from the sjose merc news
g’nite larue
i’ll fix it now for ya et
fixed :)
Hey suz.
Gracias, Amiga
just got an email from a friend in marin county who say the news reported:
PGandE is on the hook big time.
Good nite Larue. I’m calling it a nite also. Good nite Suz & all. And congratulations, Suz, on being a soon-to-be grandma. You’ll love every minute of it.
me, too. I am going to bed. See yous in the morning.
g’nite pastfed
especially if the reports are true that those folks had been calling pge with gas smell complaints and the repair crews sent out did nothing about it…
g’nite mary mac
guess i should head off myself. have a busy day tomorrow which entails trying to get up before the crack of noon (gasp).
thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight. g’nite all.
G’nite, Suzanne.
Holy Shirt…! Wikileaks is about to release 500K docs on Iraq…
That puts the leaked 75K on Afghanistan to shame…!
