If there was any (political) justice in the world, the federal government would decline Perry’s request. People like Perry do not feel shame or care about their own hypocrisy. Neither do his supporters. So give them exactly what they’ve been clamoring for… no government intervention whatsoever. Political positions such as theirs need to have consequences. This also goes for those conservative states–ahem, Arizona–that will inevitably demand a bailout from the federal government after their asinine fiscal policies bankrupt the state. Forget ‘em.

Conservatives act all macho and stupid (which impresses their constiuents) but are little, crying babies who can’t let go of the federal government.

I always like when I hear callers use the phrase “gotta get the government off our backs!” on right wing radio. Most of the time the callers are in their cars driving on federal funded highways while bitching about the oppressive federal government.

State sponsored murder is okay in many states in America. Texas is one state where they do it for fun.

There has been significant attention. Iirc, there was a commission and it got delayed but should still function, but I could have some of the pieces wrong. Because it appeared that Perry caused the delay with a new appointment.

Lets talk schools, lifespans, infant mortality rates, teen pregnancy, crime, wages for the average worker, not all the millionaire’s raising the average. Austin is a great place the low taxes are great if your rich but for the average person life isn’t so great.

Not to be flip….maybe he is looking forward. The TX death penalty is beyond inhumane. The ##s are obscene. The Dallas County DA had come out against the death penalty b/c of a pattern of wrongly convicted. He has now revised his opinion; to be truthful not a total reversal, but tweeked to say some cases do deserve the dp….yes he is up for re-election. Very disheartening.

How does he get away with it? The collapse of the press. He won’t debate. He won’t go to editorial boards. It’s an information vaccuum, and Perry exploits it well.

I will be flip: for his boss to get a spine. What was it Gandhi said: “It is impossible for a coward to be moral.”? Obamarahma isn’t a moral person, he is pro-death penalty because he perceives the country’s attitude to be retributional and he is afraid of ruffling feathers. “What do you want to hear?” is his mantra. That is a very moral perspective. Though I am opposed to the death penalty for anyone, even a worm like Perry.

To be really moral, I think, we have to not give him the dp….just get him locked up.

At a minimum I would be happy if he no longer had the power to harm anyone else. I wouldn’t vote for the democraven if I lived in TX, but on the other hand I can’t fault anyone who does.
