The Marvelettes — Don’t Mess With Bill, on Hullabaloo, 1965.
What’s on your mind?
I love this song!
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
hey starbuck — how’s your side of the coast range?
Wet and cool. Gonna get to 85F tomorrow. And your side?
sunny today and in the mid 60′s. not raining :) down to 55 now with clear skies
Hi Suz and all, just dropping by for a few. Excellent song choice!
hey newton — how’s the west bay tonight?
Hot and sweaty — we just finished watching a movie, “500 days of Summer.” If I didn’t have children in their late 20′s, I would not have understood this film. It was brilliant.
hey ll — glad a liked it — how’s va?
Started to listening but kept getting interrupted to reload, so I canned it.
Could use some coastal breezes. Slide me some, will-ya?
Yesterday we went to the French Film Micmac. What a riot!
The warmongers got their comeuppance, and with aplomb! Go see it if you haven’t already!
i’ll try but i don’t hold much sway with mother nature dood
I’m blowing hard!
Nice and quiet, waiting to see what Hurricane Earl will end up doing. Seems like the Outer Banks of NC might get a glancing blow, but I think we’ll be okay up here.
hey wmd — how ya doing tonight?
been wondering if it was gonna impact you. tis good to hear
I am glued to the Weather Channel, too looking for Earl to possibly hit New York — as an old East Coaster, I’m always watching those hurricanes going north.
How about some Dixie Cups?
Don’t Mess With Bill
That brings back memories. It was my first hubby’s name was Bill. That song was part of our history. Nice.
I thought Earl was a good ol’ boy!
We have not heard about this, nor seen it at our local indie theater. I’ll keep an eye out for it! Thanks!
hey mary mac — how’s sac tonight?
Gonna be a dozzie.
Sac is nice right now. But tomorrah, yikes-101.
*shrudder* no wonder newton wants some of my cool breezes
It’s Fellini-like. 8-1/2 comes to mind. Bits of “I love Paris” weave a strange, funny counterpoint . Only 3 or 4 notes so you have to be quick!
alright. HR person that sent rejection yesterday and I exchanged a few emails. I suspected the guy on the second interview team that was 10 minutes late and didn’t ask me any questions was the reason I was rejected… basically got it confirmed that he wanted someone else hired.
Sigh. HR person was clear that the most of the interviewers liked me a lot.
Here’s a link:
It seems so. Not that I’m glad about it, just glued to the Weather Channel…MrCE and I lived through a few hurricanes.
Night fo’ Last
Aloha, Suz…! A comfortable 77F tonite, here…! ;-)
hey db — how ya doing?
nice and easy
Getting further than I am these days. I got a lead to probably the same job I left (contractor for Intel) I should be a shoo-in but….not even a return nibble.
Maybe after Labor Day.
“I love Paris” was so very quirky. But nice!
aloha tut — paradise sounds good dood… how ya doing?
This song is feeling really relevant this week for some reason.
Then you would enjoy the moments it shows up. Sort of an inside musical joke when it does!
rolling, rolling on the river
hey hannibal — how ya doing tonight?
Disgusted with ObamaRahma, again…! 8-(
Keep on going, guess I’ll never know why, Suz.
Did you hafta bring HIM up here? WTF!
This movie tonight made me cry. If you have ever loved and lost, well, this is it. No story tale ending here. Sorry!
She asked…? ;-)
Jeebus Gawd. What is wrong with him? I think Israel owns us.
Nice Motown Pick Suz!
I won’t brang more Motown cuz YOU have done it so well, it’s all been covered!
This one was a great one! Jr. Hi School dances!
First slow dances with girls up close.
Pure torture combined with fantasy.
God we boys were fuckin USELESS in our early teens.
Gladys and the Pips rawk!
tis ladies night dood .. brang em :) how ya doing larue?
That’s just something I’ll never say loud in public.
Nor its antecedent.
All evidence seems to point towards that dire conclusion, M’dear…! 8-(
just a Supremely great song
Totally there Larue! I used to head for the Ladies Room at the slow dances, I’m so short that I hated sniffing armpits. But I loved every Motown song. And danced like a fool.
yeah, I’m not looking for any calls rest of the week.
Did have one Monday morning. Got confirmed that he checked with my old boss too. I may hear from HR about scheduling on on site after labor day.
Feeling nihilistic or something, maybe it’s just the booze, or the lack of good porn. It’s like they’re not even trying anymore. So stale, unoriginal, uninspired. But mostly, just sick of morons getting outraged about what somebody writes, yet ignoring what our government does. That, and my eternal and undying rage towards Justin Bieber.
Referring to 500 days of Summer?
I’ll look it up. I love to cry! No, seriously. Especially music.
Yeah, sad they never made a song bout yer present hubs.
But I think he’s kewl, too.
Best to ya both.
I been interviewin a bit . . . interesting.
You two ever thought about trying to TEACH graphics at local for profit graphic design programs in these local colleges? I’m interviewing for recruiter positions . . . .
I got SOME info . . . shoot me an email if yer curious.
That totally sux, Wmd…!
I know you would pick up on that, Larue.
You will! I cried like a baby tonight. We saw it on cable, it is a 2009 film.
Yeah, we got hot don’t we.
Only a few daze at worst.
Spring and summer wise, incredible, doncha think?
Kewl! Like I nebber scene!
time is on my side
Ron used to teach photoshop to lucas films employees. He is famous. sort of.
Love this, didn’t the Stones do this too?
Looked it up.
My SO recognized it, so I’ll go rent it from Movie madness.
Yep. They all came out with it at the same time. Big rivalry. Course, my vote goes to Irma cause I saw her sing when I was 16.
This is guaranteed to bring a tear to your eye
Then learn more about her here
*heh* The better half is forcing me to watch the tape-delayed CMF…!
Half of what you see
Sigh indeed. I just did my second in a week of this NEW thing called ‘group interviews’.
Ya gotta suit up, hit a session with 20-30 others.
Sometimes they brang ya back or ask ya back for more.
Sometimes, they don’t.
But it starts with a group session, maybe a one on one.
Today, we got a two minute place to deliver our ’60 Second Me’, and I was able to nail it.,
I was prepared! *G*
Then, they weed down.
One good thing, you get to see yer competition, up close, chat with them.
And learn, they don’t always match up with you one way or another.
Or, they just outclass you.
Bottom line, lookin for work is a brutal thang.
I’m gettin good at it WMD!
Thanks to a lot of what you’ve shared, even if it wasn’t relevant to MY sitch.
Yer a hoss!
Lemme know if I can help ya in Sacto, anytime!
Networking it, baby.
Great! Remember, we are old. MsCE at 27 lives this life in NYC, but the film takes place in LA. Have a great cry like I did! MrCE and kept saying, “man, that is cruel!>”
yeah. I basically got to listen to the guy talk about how good he was at his job, he didn’t ask me any questions or let me ask any.
HR knows that’s how he handled the task. I owned it though, said I should have found a way to sell myself anyway.
Here’s something really cool, interactive music video. Careful though, it’s pretty processor intensive, lots of HTML5.
I refuse to clothe my links.
Geebuz, that’s older n dirt and, and, and, niche!
You always amaze, DB, bless ya and yer woiks ya share!
My on sites tend to be 2-3 hours, half hour per person. I try to research the people that I’ll be talking with before hand, have appropriate questions for their role and experience.
that was wonderful. what a loss.
Wishin all of us well . . . we are the middle class.
We need to work.
Onto the music!
hey vmt — how ya doing tonight?
WOW! You are right, and that song does it every time.
I was struck by her bio. She was born right along the time my #4 child came into the world.
A Woman Will Do Wrong
More ladies night.
happy 100 wmd!!!
hey margot — how ya doing tonight?
Nah, it’s the corporatists.
They own us.
Israel is but a bendy straw in their grips on our gonads.
Sigh. We should be festing by now, first time we’ve missed Berry Fest In Fall, since we started in ’01.
I must admit, despite recent interviews and resume hits, I’m a bit morose about not being there.
5,000 friends, camp mates and pickers abound. Without us, or me.
She was a local girl (suburban DC, grew up in Maryland) and unfortunately I never heard about her until a couple of years after she passed :-( A girl who briefly worked with us knew her though, and when she told me about that I was all agape — this girl told me “Don’t cry!”
Thank you, Larue and bless you as well.
nice! I never heard that one.
Eva lives on here in the DC area and beyond :-)
We? I am about to become a great grandfather! You are a young’un!
Fine ty, and how are you?
Hi LL, Chris and everyone:)
*heh* You were ready then, eh…? ;-)
Hey Suzanne. Just chilling.
A wee bit hotter today, thru a day or so, and then kewler.
Interviews, hits on resume lately.
Excited, other than the depression from not festing.
Ok fine, I’m useless, dying on the vine, and about to hang muhself for not being at a fest.
Damnitall I’m a weak person.
I can understand that.
Wow 2 nights in a row!
*waving to Margot*
more rain today. huge puddles in the driveway. it got sunny for an hour or so this afternoon, right after I got home from work, so I sat on the deck with a bloody mary with celery, carrot stick and roasted heirloom tomato juice from my garden, soaking the last rays of summer in, sitting next to my old dog.
always a good thing :)
Just a girl for ladies night.
Curse You Suz Ya Sucked Me In!
Oh Carol, For REAL!
Damn, I canNOT resist the Suz Lure, it’s like a Siren . . .

Yeah, CE, me too . . .
And because I wasn’t afraid to shake tushy, girls would ask ME to dance!
Only for the fast ones.
roasted heirloom tomato juice

Railroad earth at camp mather?
I hate it when that happens. Raining
*heh* He’s only saying that cuz yer a Canuck, ya know…! He’s married to one…! ;-)
I ain’t going anywhere! You leaving?

Hi, ET. Been watching the Anchorage weather since I now have a close friend living there. Looks like a drippy week.
Aloha, ET…! Go, McAdams…! He looked great on Rachel…! ;-)
Loved, loved the sixties. Danced my patooties off.
Love that rhythm guitar.
I loved to dance!
Tami N Marvin were gold.
It’s all been shown. No need for me to replay it.
But Tami N Marvin, were gold.
Only Curtis Mayfield long ago surpassed.
Lord there was SO much fine old motown and soul from long ago.
It would take a lifetime to recapture all of it.
I never had either; I really like her version of Time Is On My Side (but I played that here already a while ago)
I must, soon. My job has a way of making me show up at 9:00 a.m.
Good lord, that and It’s My Party.
Screw Tammy Wynette’s ‘Stand By Yer Man’.
Leslie was talkin women’s lib and civil rights long before.
She WAS a huge women’s rights supporter.
Great score hoss!
I still have to write an essay tonight.
uppity blues women
Beyond that. Black from Tula, Cherokee purple, Henderson’s Crimson Cushion and Stupice.
Love “Its my Party” and goodnight all pups — tomorrow to all.
Here’s a performance that is heartbreakingly beautiful and so very powerful. This is where I can cry easily
We smelly boys were immersed in Jade East.
Dang, we wuz stoopids . . . . .

Thank you Suzanne…much appreciated…a work in progress…tripping over my big feet as I go along….
I just put your blog on my toolbar, dude. Not the frickin’ menu. The toolbar.
Great looking site, great art, great son/musician/singer.

Thank you so very much…such a compliment from you is not only gracious but humbling.
I have been to your site many times, so your praise is very valued!
oh lardy how could i have forgotten that one…
Thanks Suz! My favs are my grandson!
I love that Ibiza drawing on your blog. Verry nice work.
I’ve seen Mz. Rhonda a dozen times at fests since ’01.
She’s a FINE sanger, picker, and band leader.
All American! Bluegrass Girl!
She’s never been less than spectacular, regardless of her band changes.
Here’s another one of her’s I’ve always loved.
Drivin Nails In My Coffin!
N that’s a bit of Mz Rhonda, in the middle of a motown thread.
(bless me Suz, please)
My pantry…I planted these awesome Italian heirloom zukes that are producing these wonderful, firm young fruit.
So, I’m breading, frying and freezing like a maniac. They’re SO good. We’ve put up 8 lbs. so far. Primo, no grease on reheat. We rock.
We got a call that our beef, 1/4 Angus- hand-raised steer by a young rancher devoted to the Angus line. That meat is coming in Sat. , a month early because of the weather. Our meat chickens are also 3 weeks early. It’s a bitch being a pioneer omnivore!!!!!! Everybody’s going to have a postcard picture Labor Day and we’ll be getting our Kill On. At least it’s the one team project we found that we’re good at together. Our relationship was built on a Golfer and a Sculptor. Opposite yet kind of similar ways of looking at things. Boy, did babies blow a bomb in that one!!!!!
Yeah, no shit.
Only, I’m home, and not there, like we allus been since Fall ’01.
Love me some RREarth. Love me Some Berry Fest.
I’m dyin. Just dyin. Festing is my thang, our thang.
Even my honey loves it. She shines at fests, camp mates love her.
LOL never saw that before!
YER a Canuck!
Edve, I’m so going to read your blog with coffee tomorrow. Well done.
wow…. weather has been so funky this year. i’m hearing predictions its gonna be colder than usual this winter
etta and the dead
I loved that island…the scene is from the top of the stairs at a coastal hotel that I spent 2 months at way back when travel and hotels were cheap and fine!…and the Mediterranean was still healthy…
Yeah, I took it from jr hi school thru my early 20′s at rock halls in the SF Bay Area.
Dancing was the thang. With the smoke, some wine, and more.
And ‘dem gals.
We’d be NO Where without you gals.
Excuse ME. I’m of serious Canuck ancestry. 1673, Quebec. My grandfather and his brother, Archibald and Napoleon moved down to America and proceeded to tap the Maple sugar from the city park because it was going to waste. They strung up lights and sold it for a brief time.
Thanks openhope…very much appreciated!
Dick AND DeeDEE!
I got to try to go sandman . . . really.
But yet, there’s this tug . . . . this pull, this thang.
LET ME GO!!!!!!!!

You vixen, you!
Dang, more 13 year old top 40 I had forgetten.
I sweah, there’s more vids shared in this post than I can keep up with, or even reply to.
Happy 200 to you…Happy 200 to you…and the song goes on….
Yeah, I saw THAT one coming . . .
I hear that every year and say,”Poof”. We’ll know when we know. The general thought wave has been to predict cold winters that don’t materialize.
Not to say I’m not concerned about a shit load of food in the freezer. But, we do have propane hot water and cooking, along with a killer 5 chamber Canadian wood stove with cooking compartments. And hopefully access to freezers. And with the influx of high-end property owners, the county doesn’t treat us as low- man on the repair list anymore. So, there’s that.
with jerry garcia on guitar?
I check the woolly worms…nature tells ya everything ya need to know!
the local weather dood was talking something about the el nino’s are getting colder and the la nina’s are getting warmer (or did i reverse that?)
Ok, that earns the internets for eveah.

I wasn’t insultin no one, wasn’t hurtin no body.
Nevah, no how.
*heh* Don’t rub it in dood…! ;-)
Btw, this stargazer appreciates your new digs…! ;-)
You KNOW there was a song called ‘Set Me Free’ that The Stones did?
Another Motown RnB cover, early on.
Oh shit, ya hit the Deuce!!!
Tina…not fifties but rippin it up
I’m an atheist. I think it could go one way, or, maybe the other. I’ve become convinced that it’s a crap shoot. So, I assume the best and prepare my thinking for the worst. Like Basil this year, looked like a robust year for Basil early on and turned dismal in our region.
Thanks CT…much appreciated…stop on by anytime…
Had NO clue that’s what was happening till you made me LQQK.
Where do you GET this stuff?
I hear ya…we thought the tomats were going to go belly up this year with the blight…but they came through struggling but survivin and delicious….
Dude, I am Canuck in my blood 1/2. We don’t get insulted too easy, as far us I know. We may get curious about you.
Can’t say the same for the 50% Finnish side.
Sigh, must, find, sand man.
If I was in YER hood, I’d be three hours more awake!
i just surf the tubes looking for stuff that i think ya’ll will like
Mary Was A Hero.
Nice pick, hoss.
Loved that gal’s works.
Heh, you shahp, you iz.
Dood…the Suz is the master…bowing in the direction of the Oregon Bay…
I’ve always liked a Good Finn.
I was in love with a Great Dane once.
She broke my heart.
But she was Great.
I wrote on your blog, dood. :)

a goodnite to all and peaceful dreams!!
Thanks Suz for all you do!
me, too. niters.
I’ve got to call it a night. Here’s the run down on our hand- raised, butchered by a very cool family business[57 yrs.]
and deep frozen for our pickup. Their wrap lasts 2-3 years because it’s what they’re known for. I thought I’d have to vacume seal. And they’re LOCAL. We have to bring our own containers to transport. our own containers We’ll pick up 175 lbs of prime Angus. $2.20 lb. for ribeye,t-bone,rump roast, pot roast, short ribs, stew meat, ground, soup bones. LOCAL.
We all need to think outside of the box on food. I had a 7 1/2′ long by 36″ wide bed of French Fillet beans produce 21 lbs of beans. IF I tended to them. Picking every other day and procesing in small, 2 1/2 lb batches.
We need more Victory Gardens. Mine is 9 years old. With meat and eggs.
Hi Mary sent Ron mail as per request. How was the walk. I rode the bay under a starry sky for 1.5 hours birds flying around seals following. No moon so couldn’t see too well but got my workout…barely the tide was leaving.
I love hanging out with our Finnish family-by-marriage-still-the-family-when-the-divorce-came.
Marjukka and I both believe in the ability to move energy. As a child I was taught to try to move the passive campfire smoke with energy concentration. Push away, ” I See A Rabbit, I See A Rabbit”. Imagine a column moving upward. Or, try to send it into the face of your dearest sister-in-law, who’s sending it at you. Prevailing wind wins.
It’s so much fun. And our government and the Soviet Union spent fortunes experimenting with those energy thingies.
The things that my parents friends and the patrons of my mother’s incredible oil paintings where interested in and actively working on.
Here’s my idea. It’s a known fact that humans only use 10% of their brain, which is why that smoke fight is either discounted or seen as magic. Bullshit. It’s just tapping into the vast 90%.
We need to concentrate that extra intelligence on Just Say Now. IMHO
Because I want a local, busy, organic Pot Cookie production company that supports our local community in decent jobs. I’ve always wanted a small but well thought out production kitchen.
Oh, man. Is there a Booby prize for being the last one.? Not magic, glittery 100, not 200, when the crowd applauds.
Just the last word. Not the best word.
Peace. And sweet dreams.
I’ll give ya a shiny hub cap if ya want, M’dear…? Aloha Sleepers…! ;-)
