| By: emptywheel Wednesday August 11, 2010 11:45 am |
Jet Blue flight attendant Steven Slater has become the latest hero to those who are fed up with their lack of dignity on the job — or the equally large number of people who are fed up with the lack of dignity when flying.

Depressed Democratic Turnout Portends Rotten November |
| By: David Dayen Wednesday August 11, 2010 9:45 am |
I guess Michael Bennet won his primary in Colorado yesterday, but his winning total of votes came in under both GOP contenders. The Connecticut Governor’s primary featured just 20% Democratic turnout. While I’ve seen a lot of talk about the positive results for Democrats in last night’s primaries, it seems to me the story is about the lack of participation on the Democratic side.
CO Gov: John Hickenlooper May Be the Luckiest Man in Politics |

The White House has a few options – they’re still sitting on close to $50 billion from the HAMP program – but given the political environment, they aren’t likely to do much at this time.
House Democrats Want No More Food Stamp Cuts in Child Nutrition Bill |
| By: David Dayen Wednesday August 11, 2010 6:55 am |
House progressives, angered by the continued chipping away of the federal food stamp program as a pay-for in various bills, are taking a stand with the child nutrition bill, which the Senate passed before leaving for their August recess. That bill paid for increases to the federal school lunch program with food stamp cuts, essentially cutting a child’s dinner to pay for their lunch.
Two Words for Gibbs and the White House |

Watching the flap with Robert Gibbs and his “inartful” comments that lashed out at the Left because of cable news talking points spewed by the Right made two words leap to my mind: displaced anger.
