Wow – finger picking, and slide. Forgive I’ve gotten the terminology wrong, but I’ve never seen a guitar player do both at once. Gotta be tough when your pinky’s in a metal tube and it keeps getting close to the strings.
heat wave supposed to hit tomorrow and may last until early next week or middle of next week depending on which station’s weather dood/doodette ya watch. my bay was still overcast with that still present marine layer. alledgedly, its gonna poof and its supposed to be warmer than today’s 68
Pretty nice right now. We’re expecting a heat wave starting tomorrow. I may be panting a lot the next few days.
There was a guitar like that on the cover of the Brothers In Arms CD, back when there were CDs and they had covers, of course. They have a different sort of reverb than wooden ones, but I don’t see them very often.
So I did Virtually Speaking today. It was interesting. Kelly listened in and said I did a good job.
We talked about health issues in the gulf related to the spill.
Tired. Mourning Romanoff. Dang, our one shot at buying our OWN Senator, and not having him beholden to some corporation or other… but stuck with Bennett.
I think that one of the good parts of the prep for it made me see just how easily the corporate Money people can control the narrative in so many ways.
Nah, he told some silly twit Bennett campaigner that she was stoopid an’ evil, an’ then bitched her out for not takin’ a joke.. Just rubbed me the wrong way…
One of the best slide players ever, a student of the pure blues, a partner with Norton Buffalo (bless his dead soul I loved his music), a fiiiine blues vocalist.
And one of the best guitar pickers, finger pickers, flat pickers, of all time.
Thanks Margot. Mostly I’m just garden variety cranky… but keeping better hours. That’s why I’ve not been around LLN much lately. I generally catch up with it in the am.
I was thinking about openhope today. I was thinking about how the corporations calculate their ROI and how “human Capital” is treated as just another fungible varible because of the lack of anyone pushing back on big business.
so many of our readers have lost their jobs — its really sad and it fucking pisses me off that the companies just toss aside workers with no regard for the consequences of their actions *and* that our politicians call them lazy welfare types when they are collecting the fucking unemployment insurance they have fucking paid for through withholding on their paychecks.
I am beginning to think the answers to our country’s problems lay outside of the political realm. We need to start ignoring Washington and start creating our own turf. Fixing problems like health care with our own clinics, etc. Growing our own food.
You know what our biggest problem is at FDL? We don’t get to see one another.
hot and humid. police lights and sirens earlier for a long time. helicopters with bright lights looking down. when i went over to ask the nice gentleman police officer, he said a couple of kids were lost in the greenbelt behind the house. they weren’t staying put and their cell phone batteries were dying. since it’s quiet now, i figure they eventually found them.
My problem is that attacking corporations for being the greed head they are doesn’t seem to be a viable business model for me.
I’ve spent so much time going after evil rw media and exposing corp pr tricks I haven’t spent time developing new business.
I foolishly thought that there would be someone who would want to use my skills in the political arena. Business people used to pay me for my skills. But the people on the left expect people like me to do it for love. Or they go to D.C. for experts. I should just try and get back into helping high- tech people with messages, narratives and media.
Some of my old clients are messing up, maybe they need a refresher course.
i think you should go after dr laura for her using the n word multiple times on her radio show. maybe taking another radio idiot down will bolster your spirits
There also is a free conference call company. I used it when I organized the Pet Food crisis bloggers.
The people at USA Today wrote about the bloggers but left me out of the story because I wouldn’t tell them who I was. They thought I was being coy, but K S F O still didn’t know who I was at the time and I didn’t want to tell them.
I help people talk to the press, tell their story. I help them with media presentations. Establishing narratives. Position products. My clients have included the founders of some of the biggest tech companies in the world.
It wasn’t an accident that my story got international coverage.
It wasn’t a coincidence that the EFF got out their message about fair use during my story. I used on myself all the things I taught clients.
first i thought it was an ambulance, but then it looked like they were at the greenbelt entrances. all of us on the block were out in our jammies. my neighbor around the corner who took me to the emergency room in may called way after she knows i go to bed to make sure it wasn’t an ambulance for me.
I love that man. I saw him long long ago in Portland. I was quite dismayed to notice the wedding band on his finger. We drove up from Eugene, mistakenly got there a day too early, slept in the car and spent the next day hiking up a river in the snowbanks to an incredible hot springs. Then Hammond playing two sets.
It was magical.

hey larue — glad ya liked it.. how ya doing?
What’s in Chicago that’s more important than meeting me??
When all the crooks bite the dust so will Bennett.
Didja go to the unity
bitchfest? I was running around like an idiot, looking for Sirota.I think that one of the good parts of the prep for it made me see just how easily the corporate Money people can control the narrative in so many ways.
Mama, it cain’t be soon enough for meee!
nice
Good GOD man, get thee self to Roy Rogers Wiki.
And Toi Caldwell (thumb), and Doc Watson, Merle Watson, and many more!
*yikers*
No way, dood! Still lickin’ my wounds! Sirota pissed me off first thing yesterday. Which pissed me off because I mostly agree with Sirota!
Scrollin fast to catch up . . . gimme a bit.
Winds died, gonna warm up.
Music’s on my mind for now, back soon.
lol
Ayup. I was in spittin’ distance of Kaine, Udall and Bennet at different times, and managed not to spit.
‘Cause it would have been greater than about 20 yards, actually. :)
Heh – he didn’t answer my email from yesterday; what, did he say some stoopid Michael Moore “vote dem anyway” shit on his show yesterday?
Newton don’t KNOW slide. ;-)
These Guys, They Know Slide, Blues.
I know folks don’t think Bloomfield played slide, but this is the proof. That’s a phreakin slide, like it SHOULD be! *G*
*G*
Reveling in Quayle memories. Major treat to have a re-play.
Ah love y’all, but 3 beers tonite, an’ it’s bedtime! Don’t tell anyone that I wimped out, k?
g’nite c/fit
No Pass For You!
You are held in contempt until you email me:
kelly1_canfield at the yahoo thingy.
how goes the cake recipe?
Nah, he told some silly twit Bennett campaigner that she was stoopid an’ evil, an’ then bitched her out for not takin’ a joke.. Just rubbed me the wrong way…
yeah, yeah. Check yer email.
musta had his “Uprising” on – [snort]
If that’s not Freddie Fender and Doug Sahm, I’m . . . lol
Thank you.
One of the best slide players ever, a student of the pure blues, a partner with Norton Buffalo (bless his dead soul I loved his music), a fiiiine blues vocalist.
And one of the best guitar pickers, finger pickers, flat pickers, of all time.
Roy Fuckin Rogers!
Best hoss for blues since Paul Butterfield.
*G*
I’m off it until my GI system starts behaving. Too much sugar maybe. Bummer.
Gave up smoking and drinking…… you’d think that would be enough :-(
For actual “slide” enjoyment, I recommend Theremins – a Vulcan kinda slide, ‘mkay?
geez sunny — hope your system settles down. and congratulations!
I’m SO fucking sorry our guy your guy didn’t win.
May Bennett rot in the hell of his own making with the Dem support.
May they all rot in the hell of their own making.
And I swear Kelly, I’m now part of that hell of their own making.
And I’ll GIVE them hayall, too.
Best to you and yers. Happy Prop 8 Walker.
;-)
‘Kin theramins.
You ever heard HP Lovecraft, from Colorado?
One guy with 4 octaves.
Mid 60′s vinyl, ya puppy, ya kid.
They do classical things that will freak ya out.
With voices.
And they rock.
*G*
A Typical Song of HP Lovecraft From Then
Wish I could find other works of theirs.
Kyre Ellison is grand, in that operatic thang you’d love, but I can’t find it.
(Sunny) feel better soon!
Remember how I was telling you guys that I have a opportunity to compete for the organ thing next April?
Found a piece/arrangement I can NEVER play – this pedal work is beyond awesome – “Flight of the Bumblebee”
hey margot — how’s ohio?
If ya do it hoss, do it the best ya can.
Break a leg.
sweet dood….
hot, but hey, it’s summer.
Speaking of hot…that band is great in your YouTube. Thanks!
glad ya liked it margot. sounds like your new a/c is keeping ya cool if you are not cursing the heat
hot summer nights
Thanks Margot. Mostly I’m just garden variety cranky… but keeping better hours. That’s why I’ve not been around LLN much lately. I generally catch up with it in the am.
edit: on that note I’ll say good nite all. Poof.
More HP.
I’m A Drifter
Wayfaring Stranger
That one showcases the higher vocals of the 4 octave dude. Grand! *G*
That’s The Bag I’m In
This one is a protest song, and there’s that high octave voice in the chorous, again.
But That’s The Bag I’m In!
*G*
you’ve had a lot on your plate sunny. of course you are cranky. egad, you had a forking fire and have been putting your place back together again.
It’s hotter under them dashboard lights.
*G*
there was not another car in sight
Heh – are you KIDDING ME? That’s total virtuoso feet! I got “part-time” feet on that organ gig.
I was thinking about openhope today. I was thinking about how the corporations calculate their ROI and how “human Capital” is treated as just another fungible varible because of the lack of anyone pushing back on big business.
*heh* A typical Canuck’s backyard…! ;-)
N there it is . . . *G*
Sweet.
so many of our readers have lost their jobs — its really sad and it fucking pisses me off that the companies just toss aside workers with no regard for the consequences of their actions *and* that our politicians call them lazy welfare types when they are collecting the fucking unemployment insurance they have fucking paid for through withholding on their paychecks.
grrrrrr
aw crap, i snagged the happy 100 :(
You dood it again. :)
But it was a totally worthy comment. Rawk it!
AHHHH, just do it with all our love and support . . .
Or play some rock shit.
Really sorry about the Sen Race.
I thought our/YOUR guy had it.
I’m more than irked about all of this stuff.
I want our guys to win, I’m TAHRED of the hosers that are killin us.
Know you are 2.
All I see is food, and bbq.
Did I miss sometin?
*G*
the baby moose playing in the sprinkler dood
What you said, even if it WAS the 100.
I’m with ya and all others who feel this way.
We need to change stuff.
I am beginning to think the answers to our country’s problems lay outside of the political realm. We need to start ignoring Washington and start creating our own turf. Fixing problems like health care with our own clinics, etc. Growing our own food.
You know what our biggest problem is at FDL? We don’t get to see one another.
Ok, phud, bbq, what did I miss?
*smiles*
Let’s do a skype salon.
Seriously.
Absolutely. A skype camera is not that expensive. I don’t have one but would be willing to buy one.
Just like SoDrag hosts Caturday on Sundays. We could find a day to launch a skype salon out of the Seminal.
i don’t have skype
nahant tried to have a meet up earlier this month but only 4 pups said they would be there.
Logitech Quickcam Chat for Skype Web camera is $26.00.
grrrrrr
You wouldn’t have to have a camera to participate on a skype conference call.
If you have broadband speeds, you’d at least hear in real time, and could see others who WERE broadcasting.
But look how many showed up the other times. Perhaps if it was not at the same place each time. Move it around a bit.
i have traveled across the universe
Maybe we could get a deal if we ordered a bunch at once.
26 for the camera but then ya gotta pay skype how much per month?
Wow.
I agree, outside of the political realm.
I mean, our problems are of the liveable realm.
We can’t live, work, pay rent or mortgages, get healthcare, and more.
The political realm is killin us, and it’s not our problem.
I don’t know how we can fix that.
Short of collapse of system, or total revolution.
But I DO know, it’s unsustainable, as it is, all of it.
We might not have to do nothing, other than survive it all.
;-)
The fuckers who BOUGHT our political realm are the problem.
The corporate fascists are the problem and they own the politics, the justice system, the laws, and the media.
There are skype cameras on ebay for $9 and free shipping!
skype is ZERO for PC-to-PC
what if ya don’t have a pc? i know nothing at all about skype — can mac’s use it?
Bottom line, I’m a survivalist, even if I don’t proclaim it.
I can fend for me, and mine, if we have to.
And I know how to.
Phud good.
;-)
evening, Suz – firegoreds
trying to sleep.
is skype free for macs too?
Across the FDL Professional Left Universe
what are you drinking this evening, m’dear?
Yep!
Video calls are free.
Unlimited US and Canada $2.99 monthly
Unlimited North American 7.99 monthly
Unlimited World $13.99 monthly
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
hey gw — how’s austin tonight?
how about a v8?
Greenwarrior!
why yes
You know if we do this a lot of us are going to have to finally clean up our rooms. At least the part right behind the camera.
sounds like someone should put up a sem diary and see how much interest this is on doing it.
is it easy to do a conf call or is it just a one person talking to one person kinda deal?
monterey bay, actually, Suz — just fine, thanks
Meh. I say “Fly Freak Flags.”
hot and humid. police lights and sirens earlier for a long time. helicopters with bright lights looking down. when i went over to ask the nice gentleman police officer, he said a couple of kids were lost in the greenbelt behind the house. they weren’t staying put and their cell phone batteries were dying. since it’s quiet now, i figure they eventually found them.
here it comes *she said, popping open the top*
trust me, that was the very first thing i thought of.
Some of my old clients are messing up, maybe they need a refresher course.
excellent ppd. how’s the parents?
yikes gw — no wonder you are awake.
thanks gw
Is it marketing you do? Or is it strategery?
Mary. Mary.
i’m sorry you are discouraged spocko.
i think you should go after dr laura for her using the n word multiple times on her radio show. maybe taking another radio idiot down will bolster your spirits
gw, there were 50 shootings in July alone in Columbus, Ohio. Several were teens. It feels like the bad old days.
I like that song. Thanks!
Forgot to share this.
it’s been a very hard week, Suz. Not many good options, but we’re doing the best we can. Thanks for asking.
i’m so sorry ppd.
halle-fooking-looyah, it’s 1:00 my time, lost in the youtubes and FDL, and I gotta take a call at 7:00 my time.
DOH!
It’s a bit of a slow start, but listen to this Scriabin Sonata. It’s quite joyous ultimately.
Night night!
There also is a free conference call company. I used it when I organized the Pet Food crisis bloggers.
The people at USA Today wrote about the bloggers but left me out of the story because I wouldn’t tell them who I was. They thought I was being coy, but K S F O still didn’t know who I was at the time and I didn’t want to tell them.
step dad couldn’t make it to mom’s 80th birthday celebration last weekend
Slide.
Are both of your parents ill?
g’nite kellly
aw crap ppd.
They both have their own health issues, like most folks in their 80′s.
oooooooh that’s smooth gw
Other than him missing the event, mom really had a great time with family and friends.
There are so many folks who have elderly parents at FDL maybe we could start a support group. Skype would come in handy for that.
yay! birthdays should be fun and celebrated. especially when someone is her age…
ouch! that sounds like 50 too many!
first i thought it was an ambulance, but then it looked like they were at the greenbelt entrances. all of us on the block were out in our jammies. my neighbor around the corner who took me to the emergency room in may called way after she knows i go to bed to make sure it wasn’t an ambulance for me.
You have great neighbors.
And that’s exactly what we did — don’t let any opportunities for celebration slip by unacknowledged
’bout time for me to head out folks. thanks for the music and converations tonight and for letting me spend a wee bit of time with you.
g’nite and hope to see ya tomorrow for muppet friday *le poof*
I love that man. I saw him long long ago in Portland. I was quite dismayed to notice the wedding band on his finger. We drove up from Eugene, mistakenly got there a day too early, slept in the car and spent the next day hiking up a river in the snowbanks to an incredible hot springs. Then Hammond playing two sets.

Yes, indeed!
Mary Mary, Where Are Ya Goin To
Do the right wing trolls ever stop by these late night sessions, let their nose hairs down, share some recipes?
Good nite Suz! I am heading out, too. See yous in the a.m.
Now that’s got me rocking and smiling. Hi Larue.
And I gotta go too, Puppers.
Best thoughts and wishes for all, to all, for all of yers.
Dang we need some changes.
Here’s hopin for change.
Gnite Mary and Suz. Sleeps well.
Gnite Larue. I’m gonna try again to sleep myself. Gnite.
Howdy GW, I’m an old Butterfield, Bloomfield, Bishop fan.
Love yer comments, diaries, and such.
Thanks for all you do, I gots to snooze.
Hang tough GW, we do it all again tomorrow.
It’s our lot in life, La Layna . . . ;-)
*poof*
Thank goodness it wasn’t you. Sounds like a good neighbor.
As to the shootings, it’s a huge increase over last year.
night all, be well
