Good morning! It is going to be a hot day today in the nation’s capitol, especially if you put your foot in your mouth yesterday . . . but seriously 98 degrees isnt fun for anybody.

There’s a Mosque in the Pentagon but there is no outcry about that. Why? Two reasons:
1) The right wingers know they can’t bully the Pentagon and
2) This has never been about Mosques. It’s about stoking and exploiting racial fear for political gain and once again, the right wingers know that the Democrats are far too timid to call them on it.
If the Democrats want to ask me for money, it had better be specifically for a spinal column implant because otherwise they’re wasting their time.

More people have died of crossing the street since 1968, when they started measuring it, than have died of terrorism, not including the U.S. terrorism while waging wars. Terrorism would be a joke if it weren’t for PTB’s ability to scare peeps to death.

My meme goes on: to prevent acne & terrorism, wash your face, eat a good diet; harden your targets, have a good intelligence operation; if it gets out of hand, take antibiotics or use the police & courts. QED.

The operative word that describes the corporate shills and hypocrites in the Whitehouse is “centrist”. But every time you hear the word “centrist”, remember it is the same as “Corporatist”. Gibbs attack is on schedule, and we can assume his K-Street allies will be repeating this propaganda we have heard before. We had a DailyKos Diary about how it is treason if you do not vote for the Corporatists and neo-libs/cons, who control Barack Obama.

To stay home in November in order to “punish” the Dems because they are yet to deliver on everything they promised, and as a result let the party of Mitch McConnell, Sarah Palin and the teabaggers to retain power – is not only childish, it’s almost a treason.

Obama rejected the Health Care the leftists wanted because it was not “centrist” and would be disruptive.

Now, we can fix this in a way that is sensible, that is centrist. I have rejected a whole bunch of provisions that the left wanted that are — you know, they were very adamant about because I thought it would be too disruptive to the system.

Yep. I can’t deny that I have nothing but contempt for those who go around in fear of terrorism. Apart from it being far less likely than getting struck by lightning, isn’t us being afraid what they want??? NOT the best way to combat something, I can’t help but think, by immediately capitulating. Who knew that so many people from the “home of the brave” were such jellyfish?

I think overall it was a good night for Dems. The Republicans nominated some of their weaker candidates. It’ll be interesting to see if the Tea Party rips the Republican party in two. Will the moderates be repulsed by some of their more extreme positions? Only time will tell.

Hey! This is “Early Morning Swim”, where’s the story from Rachel Maddow? The one day I want one, is the one day it isn’t here. How typical.

At any rate, so KO does his own little “Special Comment” about Robert Gibbs’s comments about the leftist media and Rachel does NOTHING? Not even report on it? I flipped through her podcast stopping ever few minutes looking for it, but there was NOTHING? REALLY?

She reports on some idiot school board and their non-belief of physics or something, but NOTHING about Robert Gibbs’s comments? Is it because the WH was willing to use her footage in the NN10 thing, so she thinks it isn’t directed at her and she feels no reason to comment on it? Was it the day before?

Very odd, but it makes you wonder who is carrying the Democratic party’s water. KO’s comment really wasn’t that good. In all honesty, I liked the TYT’s comments better. Did Thom Hartman say anything yesterday?

Good Morning BT and “Professional Left” Firepups.

How come you people won’t climb into in the veal pen and stay there like you’re supposed to?

Completely off-topic (and probably already covered at FDL), I heard a clip of Defense Secretary Gates this morning that clarified what I had (for a fleeting moment) believed was going to be some sanity introduced into the “defense” budgeting process (in other words, cuts). He’s not proposing cuts. What he’s proposing is (essentially) to reclass the money…move dollars from here to there. Surprised? Yeah, me neither.

Reading a book about how fear is used politically. Unfortunately, it is U.S. centric. What I’m interested in is why U.S.ians are such scardey cats, both during the cold war, and now during terrorism, than the Europeans, who live on the doorstep of both. The book, at least as far as I’ve gotten, does not address that all important difference.

It’s all about the military/industrials. A population in fear will support a massive military, anything to keep them “safe”. Whether the current “threat” is real or all an illusion, that threat needs to be there to justify an otherwise unjustifiable cost.

& sadlyyes,

I agree. Want more flesh on the bones. Both House of War and Europe’s Promide discuss part of the the issue, but I’d like to read a discussion of it directly. I understand why Europe did not go back to the war model after WWII, for example, but wonder why MIC hasn’t gotten more control of the whole political process in the intervening 60 years. Why has Europe been able to maintain what Hill refers to as their workfare income distribution programs, etc., without the PTB trying to dismantle them? Maybe I just want more than just Hill’s take on Europe.
