About Firedoglake
Good morning! It is going to be a hot day today in the nation’s capitol, especially if you put your foot in your mouth yesterday . . . but seriously 98 degrees isnt fun for anybody.
Basil’s lad makes no sense: the mosque is great, but why not move it.
What?
stay cool, here in Tn havent had a day under 94 since May…..
Good morning all.
Paterson has one ‘t’. /spelling police
Im thinking of making a YOUTUBE of me wearing FRINGE and a t shirt stating…medicare for all,and stop the illegal wars, repeal DADT
i must peform as a proffesional Liberal,no?
Mornin’, BT, pups
Two weeks until the primary in FL. Quite the list of losers.
Don’t forget that cute little hat you wore in the kitteh vid.
There’s a Mosque in the Pentagon but there is no outcry about that. Why? Two reasons:
1) The right wingers know they can’t bully the Pentagon and
2) This has never been about Mosques. It’s about stoking and exploiting racial fear for political gain and once again, the right wingers know that the Democrats are far too timid to call them on it.
If the Democrats want to ask me for money, it had better be specifically for a spinal column implant because otherwise they’re wasting their time.
good morn Echan,…horsies leg not good, all the debris ,drained, and the skin opened up,going to see him in a bit
Re terrorism: Goes back to my “terrorism is like acne” meme. Everyone eventually dies of it, if they don’t die of something else first. (There’s a follow on about what to do about both, but I’ve typed it too often in the past.)
I sure as hell wish somebody would PAY ME for being a professional liberal. That is what “professional” means after all….
Oh dear. Keeping my fingers crossed.
you likey…have about 100 hats…a must wear…skin cancer survivor…always vigilant….sun so much hotter
i have absolutely racked my brain, thinking of schemes to raise more $$$ for the critters,we are so eFFFed
The fact that more Americans last year died of dog bite than terrorism notwithstanding. My gosh. The Republicans don’t even need a real issue to make Democrats run for their bunkers and undisclosed locations.
Can’t happen. It’s embedded in the winner-take-all election system in the U.S.
Best wishes to you and your horse. Leg injuries can be tough.
oh dear universe,me too
im a feared…we saved a mare last year,it took 6 month recovery,but i never give up,thanks for good wishes
a MUST READ

More people have died of crossing the street since 1968, when they started measuring it, than have died of terrorism, not including the U.S. terrorism while waging wars. Terrorism would be a joke if it weren’t for PTB’s ability to scare peeps to death.
My meme goes on: to prevent acne & terrorism, wash your face, eat a good diet; harden your targets, have a good intelligence operation; if it gets out of hand, take antibiotics or use the police & courts. QED.
Here’s a surprise: The scientists that BP couldn’t buy off have been gagged by the Obama administration. That’ll piss off the professional liberals alright. As much work as they are giving us, we should all get bonuses.
The operative word that describes the corporate shills and hypocrites in the Whitehouse is “centrist”. But every time you hear the word “centrist”, remember it is the same as “Corporatist”. Gibbs attack is on schedule, and we can assume his K-Street allies will be repeating this propaganda we have heard before. We had a DailyKos Diary about how it is treason if you do not vote for the Corporatists and neo-libs/cons, who control Barack Obama.
Obama rejected the Health Care the leftists wanted because it was not “centrist” and would be disruptive.
OOPSIE FORGOT THIS ONE

Yep. I can’t deny that I have nothing but contempt for those who go around in fear of terrorism. Apart from it being far less likely than getting struck by lightning, isn’t us being afraid what they want??? NOT the best way to combat something, I can’t help but think, by immediately capitulating. Who knew that so many people from the “home of the brave” were such jellyfish?
Yep.
Here’s some priceless cover art.
Here’s a must read, too. Hill was at FDL for a book salon recently.
Backtrak Obama,yup…just like Bush…Mr. Gibbs
Good Morning Everyone
We have had the coolest summer that I can ever remember. I don’t know why, though.
I think overall it was a good night for Dems. The Republicans nominated some of their weaker candidates. It’ll be interesting to see if the Tea Party rips the Republican party in two. Will the moderates be repulsed by some of their more extreme positions? Only time will tell.

I disagree. The operative word is “neoliberal.” There’s nothing centrist about it.
Hey! This is “Early Morning Swim”, where’s the story from Rachel Maddow? The one day I want one, is the one day it isn’t here. How typical.
At any rate, so KO does his own little “Special Comment” about Robert Gibbs’s comments about the leftist media and Rachel does NOTHING? Not even report on it? I flipped through her podcast stopping ever few minutes looking for it, but there was NOTHING? REALLY?
She reports on some idiot school board and their non-belief of physics or something, but NOTHING about Robert Gibbs’s comments? Is it because the WH was willing to use her footage in the NN10 thing, so she thinks it isn’t directed at her and she feels no reason to comment on it? Was it the day before?
Very odd, but it makes you wonder who is carrying the Democratic party’s water. KO’s comment really wasn’t that good. In all honesty, I liked the TYT’s comments better. Did Thom Hartman say anything yesterday?
Good Morning BT and “Professional Left” Firepups.
How come you people won’t climb into in the veal pen and stay there like you’re supposed to?
Completely off-topic (and probably already covered at FDL), I heard a clip of Defense Secretary Gates this morning that clarified what I had (for a fleeting moment) believed was going to be some sanity introduced into the “defense” budgeting process (in other words, cuts). He’s not proposing cuts. What he’s proposing is (essentially) to reclass the money…move dollars from here to there. Surprised? Yeah, me neither.
Barack Obama must be doing as many favors for corporations as he can so he’ll be able to write his own ticket after leaving office and become immensely wealthy. Nothing else explains it.
Reading a book about how fear is used politically. Unfortunately, it is U.S. centric. What I’m interested in is why U.S.ians are such scardey cats, both during the cold war, and now during terrorism, than the Europeans, who live on the doorstep of both. The book, at least as far as I’ve gotten, does not address that all important difference.
this is the one i bought yesterday

fixin to leave this country…its ruined
You could always go to her website and post one under a Seminal Diary. :)
It’s all about the military/industrials. A population in fear will support a massive military, anything to keep them “safe”. Whether the current “threat” is real or all an illusion, that threat needs to be there to justify an otherwise unjustifiable cost.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
US KIA Irak: 4,414
US KIA Afghanistan: 1,223
Iraki and Afghan casualties: estimates vary to over 1.5M
US MBS 2010: 27,528 and counting
Solidarity Forever
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
MIC=BEST MONEY MAKER in the universe
simple…it lays the golden eggs
Then you really must read Hill’s Europe’s Promise, which I linked to above. Agree that U.S. is FUBAR, and I would go live in Europe if I didn’t love my house so much.
Yet, the idiot school board is not an insignificant story….maybe not the one you wanted, but a very hot topic.
You gotta start serving cheese with these whines.
your country life style is wonderful,im thinking a pied a terre, till things get better, have seen many affordable homesteads there, after Bush had a second term,i started planning…and it is so impossibly hot here, spent most of the summer indoors..climate change ,and or vile govmint
Don’t you have a 3rd world country to pillage?
& sadlyyes,
I agree. Want more flesh on the bones. Both House of War and Europe’s Promide discuss part of the the issue, but I’d like to read a discussion of it directly. I understand why Europe did not go back to the war model after WWII, for example, but wonder why MIC hasn’t gotten more control of the whole political process in the intervening 60 years. Why has Europe been able to maintain what Hill refers to as their workfare income distribution programs, etc., without the PTB trying to dismantle them? Maybe I just want more than just Hill’s take on Europe.
this explains MERKINS fear

Good morning, demi and all you Prolefs.
Just lurking over here waiting for someone to send me a check for being a life long, card carrying, almost continuously employed Democrat. Oh well. I suppose my standing is maybe novice, in spite of 37 years in, instead of Pro. Apprentice?
What is that about?
Heh.
My check book’s empty. How ’bout a gift certificate for a cup of coffee?
It wasn’t a school board, it was Phyllis Schlafly’s son and conservapedia.
Come on over….
fear will cause peeps to turn on ,and destroy each other
low information voters etc…important to have dumbed down society
O, I thought that was a comment about our TX drama…sorry.
Human rights groups now in veal pen. Asking wikileaks to self-censor names of Afghans collaborating with the U.S. According to the book on Fear I’m currently reading, collaborators are an integral part of the mechanism of creating fear & power. Let them be known & take credit for their work, I say.
plus NEWS MEDIA…constantly trying to divide US ALL
Maybe upheaval, suffering and genocide on that scale leads to long memories. It was largely Germany’s MIC was led to that but if it hadn’t been Germany, it would have been France, England or the USSR.
so sad,my kingdom for a set of gonads
New post up top…
That whole empty checkbook thing must be contagious. I have it too. Don’t drink but a cup and a half or so of coffee a day and that before I leave the house.
yes and 2X in a 20 year span
That would never get through even our school board. UT has a world class science education program. No way they are going to pass curriculum that would require Texas students to take remedial science before they can attend UT. Not yet anyway.
Me too, mainly. Once in a blue moon, I might have a smidgen in the afternoon as a pick me up.
You just love me for my weather. Huh.
And your brew….
If I ever make it to Texas for a visit…we’ll have a firedog meet up.
Yeah, it’s obviously a conspiracy by Blue Texan just to aggravate you.
That comment says a lot about you.
It was like coming upon a pile of dog s…
Just don’t step in it.
Huh…and I thought you were moving here.
True 32 dog bites are more than 25 killed by terrorists, but if the dog bites were to kill terrorists, are we smearing our dog friends with this comparison?
:-)
