Einstein, just after Gandalf tricked him and he turned into stone - per Conservapedia, pic from j.colman at flickr.com
I credit Art Fleming’s Jeopardy over the inferior Alex Trebek’s Jeopardy.
But really is this a decline in our national intellectual resources? We must bring on the analogies that disprove this finding. Conservatives you love analogies (wonder if that plays a role?) show me brains are for thinking, not eating:
Conservapedia founder and Eagle Forum University instructor Andy Schlafly — Phyllis Schlafly’s son — has found one more liberal plot: the theory of relativity.
Oh for f**k’s sake!

About Firedoglake
this is what the concervatives are after in the first place, they HATE public education, they hate an educated masses, they hate an ability for lower and middle class to pull their boots up and move up
they want no government programs, none, they want education to be for the wealthy
they want everyone else working at as early an age as possible to increase the labor supply and lower prices
this is what they want, this is not an exageration
Kids don’t want to play the Dan Quayle shell game?
Kids today. Why can’t they be like we were–perfect in every way?
In fairness, corporate and reactionary forces have gutted our educational system over the last decade or two, while the other developed nations have had some half-decent government. Conservative policymaking will destroy any educational system.
I won;t mention the fact that my generation, the Boomers, have much higher IQs than the generations before and after us.
The Corporate Way
If the tea baggers start to think the theory of relativity is a liberal plot, that will make them incapable of designing nuclear weapons or nuclear power plants.
Hmmm… maybe there’s an upside to this.
Lefties in the US needs a special Lewis Black 3D “Oh For Fuck’s Suck! hologram just for Tea Bagger shit like this.
Relativity sounds too much like nuance. And it wears earth tones.
Well maybe not programs as such but they do like all those homeland security, wire tap, patriot act laws rules and regulations to keep the masses in their, lowly, place.
Don’t forget abstinence only sex ed.
Why should they educate us? They can get all the educated workers they need in China and India.
Good morning, pups. Mr. Herbrt is flying solo since Bobo and Mr. Cohen are both off today. Let us be grateful for small favors. Mr. Herbert, in “The Horror Show,” says policy makers seem intent on allowing the employment crisis to fester. As bad as the July employment numbers were, a deeper look into them shows a seriously scary situation.
Here he is.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got a variety of bagels with cream cheese. I overslept this morning, so I’m about to turn into a little pink blur to get my morning chores done. Have a great day.
OT. You all have to see this:

Thanks, glad your suffering idiots was smaller than usual. solai’s map would be a perfect illustration of herbert’s post.
Wow. Just… wow…
If that were a medical scan, the patient would be ready for hospice care.
But the House of Lords couldn’t care less.
I am confused. Is it General Relativity or Special Relativity that is misleading people. In fact most scientific theories are promoted by leftists because science is their religion, except for the religious scientists. But to use mathematics to mislead people is so wrong.
But I think they hate Einstein for another reason. Einstein did not protect the rights of white people and he criticized racism in America. How dare he!
Good morning all.
What perris said.
Actually WJ is using this as its Q for the first segment. I can’t bear callers anymore so I flipped it on briefly to hear a R woman say U.S. ed sys should be like 1956 when U.S. produced engineers that took us to the moon (young engineers, but what the hay). The caller said that parents used to be involved in their kids education back then but aren’t anymore. No mention of the fact that mommy & daddy have to both work 2 jobs to make ends meet today, but back then daddy made enough to support the family. That’s when I had to turn it off.
you’re missing a really good segment with Sen. Sander Levin.
This explains Palin’s astonishing reaction to the word “teacher.” Teachers are dangerous! They have facts, and stuff. They teach evolution, critical thinking, physics, and real history, not the made-up Bible kind.
There are dots to be connected here. The dominionists are giving us a glimpse of who they really are and what they really think.
I believe your first sentence is inaccurate. The current group of 25-34 year-olds are actually a fairly equal mix of Gen X and Gen Y, or Millenials. As a member of this group, I remember how wonderful Reagan and Bush 1 made our educational system during the 80′s, by pouring 100 billion dollars into it… Oh, wait, that was the military. Reagan tried to dismantle the State Department of Education.
I do remember one program very vividly, WAIT! Was “Just Say NO” of the 80′s an early brainwashing program for today’s National GOP? Or maybe they have always stood behind the simple response of NO to solving complex issues.
To push college and college debt when we send the college level jobs overseas and pretend a shortage so as to hire H1 visa types that will allow corporations to claim US profit is not taxable as it is the product of the H1 Visa types who are counted as employees of overseas subsidiaries, hypocrisy?
well go to college and become a grad looking for a college level job – heck, 25% of recent grads actually get such a job.
Why?
