That summer of 1974, with Bowie’s Changes, and Nixon resigning in August. MrCE and I fell in love. What else can I say?
Aoha, newt…! ;-)
That was some time!
I didn’t fall in love, but we spent the entire summer at the beach, except for when we were watching the hearings.
Now that Would be a surprise CT….
Hey CTuttle, nahant, newt and CE!
Pay your charges with your phone instead of your credit cards! Yee Haw!
*heh* David has certainly aged since then, eh…? ;-)
What a summer that was! We were glued to the tv set.
He was BEAUTIFUL, beautiful…
Was sweet, the best thing ever.
Aloha, M’dear…! How’s SoCal doing today…? ;-)
Changes is still my fav song, evah!
Still cold. I was able to wear a sleeveless shirt today, but back into a sweater to go outside now. Everyone here is blown away…

I’m still rather partial to ‘Rebel, Rebel’…! ;-)
Aloha, PPD…! Always a pleasure…! ;-)
You poor dears.
I find myself with a few spare moments and way too much beer.
How are y’all?
C Tuttle, nice to see ya on the front page my man.
1974? long ago and very young
Mahalo, Busted…! It’s a pleasure…! How’s life treating your bust-ass knuckles these days…? ;-)
I was just replacing a ’92 Honda Accord’s clutch… What joy…! ;-)
I went to take off early Friday to start my vacation and ended up yanking the transmission out of my truck to replace the slave cylinder, just so I could get home.
Been drunker than a piss boiled owl ever since.
Damn, I miss you guys.
Hello to you and Busted! Hard to believe it’s August already.
Hiya, CT, pups.
Sitting outside on the deck of my sister and her husband’s deck on Mercer Island east of Seattle. Mom’s 92nd yesterday, niece Sarah’s 22nd today. ET Jr up from Arcata for the weekend with his GF, who we all adore. ETette living down here, working in the Cascades for AmeriCorps. Nice enough weather.
…just so I could get home.
That always tends to try my patience too…! ;-)
Hi Nahant the hawks flew the coop, the fire doggies don’t like travel what’s a guy to do. How are you and the missus tonight. How’s the health issues you were working on?
Aloha, ET…! SeaTac, eh…? ;-)
So yer offishal on vacay?

There is one I haven’t heard from in a long time.
I’m glad life is treating you well Mr. Teller.
And wassup CT and the rest of ya Puppers?
You know it is coming….
Just be hunkered down for the inevitable fallout…! ;-)
hiya CE, hi nahant
Tittle Tuttle! Read your post)Our weather in July and August is sunny…not this year it is overcast/foggy to varying degrees. Has your weather been the usual?
nice tune tut — how’s paradise tonight?
I’m happy for Chelsea. Class act.
Holy Shirt, Batman…! That’s a wannabe Fogerty in the making…! ;-)
Someone has to do it.
Dang, I remember when I had hair, too.
Glad you showed I have an simple exercise that may relieve some of your back pain if you play with it a little. Interested?
Yeah. Reunions and Gulf of Mexico art project plans.
Soggy, M’dear…! Can’t quite escape the Lake’s clutches, eh…? *g*
hey bb — i have exercises that my chiropractor and acupuncturist taught me to do — is how i keep it down to a dull roar :)
hey busted *smooches*
don’t worry about a Chevrolet
Send postcards! lol
Aww, ya little darlin’.
Smooches back at ya.
Wow! Talk about young!
Funny, lately I been working on a bluegrass version of Turn The Page, which has haunting fiddle and mando in it. Band just nails it. Starts slow, tempo quickens as they hit the chorus first time.
Wow. Seegar, that young . . .
Remember this one?
History of we DFH boomers!
Ok, I been told I got ‘chores’ to tend to tomorrow, which require an early wakey for me . . . and in truth, I DO got a lot to get done tomorrow . . . . nice seeing the fonts of fine folks at LLN tonite! All y’all be well, in in Busted’s case, plowed and on vacay!
Best to all Pups.
This was always my favorite of his.
It ain’t me…! ;-)
However, this is my all-time Fave Bob Seger…! ;-)
Nice to see ya Larue, dammit.
Dangnabbit…! I owe ya a brewski…! 8-P
Night Larue. Get it all done.
Great minds and all…! ;-)
Hey all, doing a driveby, ..and loving Bowie. I really liked the “Glam Early” era living in Haight-Ashbury during her Transition. It ROCKED. And the bars were fun for straight white chicks.
Yup. Very nice.
Aww, ya got good taste and I still have a few brewskie’s anyway. Nice to see you guys again, been a while.
Ack! you just reminded me. Beer in freezer.
Either the beer will be wonderful or wasted.
Alway’s a pleasure ta see ya, Busted…! ;-)
Seger’s Uncle Joe song.
At least I am good for something and I am damn glad I wasn’t taking a pull off one when I read that, keyboards ain’t that cheap when ya get the wireless ones.
Yeah, that’s a good one. I saw him in his early concerts, Going down to Spokane from the North Idaho country.
Man, it felt like getting back into civilization, way back then. I’m so old.
It is brain-numbingly cold, that’s for sure. :)
At least ya got to it before it exploded.
I hate that.
Oh a friend went to see ? and the Mysterians in NYC, and he said they were great…AND Ronnie Spector sang with them on 96 Tears.
Such a pity then… Waste not, want not…! ;-)
Hey, that might be my theme song!!! Unless Macaguerman wants to claim it. Then I’m going for Jethro Tull’s Skaking Away[on the thin ice of a new day].
Thanks Busted, really good to see you here. Have a good vacation!
Sounds good. I hate to admit it, but I’ve been known to put ice cubes in beer if it’s not cold enough.
I must say, it has been splendid to spend some time with my fellow firepups.
Good to see you all. I am going to stray off for a bit and then fall down and go Thud.
Sweet dreams, you are all very nice people and it is my utmost pleasure to interact with you.
nite busted. nice to see you in here
Okay, that was a fun song. I like it.
hey, I’m not claiming it, it’s all yourn if ya want it, but Skating Away’s a better song.
Leonard Cohen’s novel Beautiful Losers is a whole other thing though, and I’ll take a stake in that.
? is Van Morrison.
You don’t have to play 96 tears to begin with, just look at the pic.
On a serious note; I really think the Obama Presidency has taken the wind out of every Liberal Cause mission.
It is a serious thing to consider, why no one rises up, anymore. Even the few that did. Me, included.
What do we HOPE will CHANGE ?? Time’s up. It’s just not happening. HE can’t do it. And I NEVER thought he could.
What now? Oh, never mind, it’s late at night and we’ve all had these thoughts, I bet.
of course, everybody is worried. we all been dug into and thrown in a deep pit and we’re not gonna just be able to hop out and run a comb through our hair. it’s gonna take a while.
We’re in a Portland mood tonight!
No SoCal. No Lakers
Leonard Cohen’s Hallea [ crap! my spellings wonky and "dictionary" isn't helping]…Hal a Lu Ya , by Leonard Cohen. An incredibly beautiful song.
an atheist who can’t spell Hal A Lu Yah
Badge of honor, hope.
KD Laing’s version
Hop aboard ya’ll…! *g*
Here is Cohen’s Hallelujah!
Here is KD Lang’s version.
Hey, Loo Hoo. The thing is,..I’m so old I saw Jackson Brown performing at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons factory back in the day, during a major protest. All I got was a case of paranoia, “what was in the soil that YOU stepped on”??????
I’m starting to feel so old.
That said, my dear young friend, Even Knappenberger has a post up at Commondreams . Posted Friday. And I’m such a dinosaur I can’t link.
Evan is the Son of Another Mother to me.
It’s like her voice was made to sing that song.
This is my fave Jackson Browne tune… As he states himself in the intro…! ;-)
I’ve heard Cohen sing it and it was wonderful, Jeff Buckley’s version is flat beautiful, but her rendition is close to perfection.

I will try. I’m on my own here with the chickens and the veggie garden.
I don’t actually know exactly you’re saying, but now that I have breathing room in my schedule I’ll try. I’ll just do what you say to do,….tomorrow.
Tomorrow isn’t my friend. [smile]

well worth reading.
he talks about a particular tribe of Mohawks in that book and I spent some time on their wasteland/reservation.
Congrats on the century mark, Open…! ;-)
Wow. Alexandra Burke (who I’d never heard of until now) had almost 10 million hits on You Tube doing Hallelujah!
~~~sorry, could not repair this link~~~
Boy, is that song going to be an anthem in the Gulf!!!
We have friends that fished in the Prince Williams Sound before Exxon Valdez. What a fucking joke those lawyers turned out to be. Started procedures at 15.9% take. Went to the judge, without class action agreement and got 22.9% years later. The drastically reduced payment settlements were paid by Exxon 2 years ago, the lawyers are holding them in their accounts collecting millions in interest, and there’s nothing the community can do. No REAL AMERICANS are getting compensation.
Oh, cool. I rock!!
i don’t know…I don’t see it.
young ? and the Mysterians (he’s 3rd from the left)
Link works for me. I’ll try another since google images have changed their format…allowing a lot more images per page. Did it work for anyone? (as if anyone cares)
it’s probably going to be harder to clean the lawyers out of the water than anything else.
Worked for me.
You chillin, loo hoo?
I just think he wore a black wig. But even if you don’t see it, you can hear it, no?
that one works, and yes (someone likes seeing them)
I think Hallejuhah [thanks for the spelling] is probably an all time favorite of mine, it hits a part of my soul not many do.
You do anyways, M’dear…! D’uh…! ;-)
Life is good without house payments, newt!
Blush…. Lurking Mod may have an alternative viewpoint.
no question that it’s Van Morrison doing that wiggle of those 32″ hips.
I hear ya. And I hear others. They told me so when I thought about Helping Elisabeth Warren. “no more phone calls!”
Then think about the right, people paid big bucks to divide and destroy.
Do we have that? Should we? I prefer
To build up, but I know how to do both.
Lurking Mod does not.
Those weren’t Lawyers, those were healthy sharks doing what healthy sharks do.
I’m talking bottom feeding scum humans.
Hey, I’ve got my spouse talked into going to DC late September. I told the kids I was thinking about getting arrested and they knew I was serious. My spouse thought I was joking.
Family vacations aren’t what they used to be!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know, you could be right!
MAC the problems are not even being addressed, they are being ignored and it is humongous we desperately need 20 million . People can’t pay rent or mortgage. Homeless services are only for a few maybe 100 of the 4000 in our county alone 1.5 % and growing according to 2009 Grand Jury Report. More massive cuts are planned by the CA Terminator.
Well we should make it count! Wouldn’t do to have you arrested for litterin’
It is wonderful. I’m not a religious person any more, but this one always sends me to the moon.
the family that jails together, maybe makes bail together…… or something
bb, if people are only waking up to the severity of the problem now, it’s a damn shame. things changed a lot under reagan and about none of it was for the good. we’ve been working on food collection and distribution for the poor and homeless here in NYC for twenty-five years.
Well I got the woman who lead the charge to fire Gray Davis fired. So I did my part. Of course I had a Lot of help.
*heh* The Other half is still clueless…? ;-)
20 million jobs
especially love some of those absolutely outrageous cakes you find!
Another hymn I remember fondly.
Well that is a get.
Davis was among my least favorite pols, but that was a political takedown for all the wrong reasons.
Thank you!!! What a great song. I got 10 cents a shirt to iron when these songs on the radio got imprinted into my little brain. The Hand/Eye/Music thang. I love this song!!
You know I envision all of these congressional staffers and power players working to gain power and money. How do they compete against something the people want?
Well, here’s a cake for you, Mac. Definitely over the top!
Who? and how?
Loo, that’s incredible. thanks so much, that’s the best laugh I’ve had in days!
and all I’ve got for you is Trouble
*heh* This is the version I grew up on…! Unter Glibben Globen…! ;-)
I’m with you, spocko. The media is to blame for presenting the right wing nutbag case as worth entertaining. And the further we go down the NCLB path, the less hope we have. They want students to memorize rather than analyze.
I’m 56 years old. A DFH if ever there was one. Maybe I should paint my chest with a “quick grab” slogan and totally gross out/fascinate the general population with Old Lady Painted Boobs.
My boobs worked for me decades ago. Maybe it’s time to Bring Them Back. Out of Iraq. Out of Afghanistan, Out of Pakistan.
I would be willing to bare all to bring our soldiers home. Want shock??? Grandmas stripping to bring our soldiers home and stop killing families in foreign countries. It’d be brutal.
Okay, an excellent choice. I’ll give you this.
Good night, children.
it was fun and who knows when we’ll meet again.
Burn those bras for real this time…! ;-)
Too funny! That’s the first one I got. Scared me!!!
Speaking of religion, we’ve got the Dead Sea Scrolls to consider…
Oh, gawd. I didn’t realize Liz was out of the hospital with the pulseless. She is, and warmongering as usual, and wanting Assange shut down (and no doubt, tortured.)
Every time I call a Congresscritter’s I make sure that I’m talking to the staff as a concerned Mom talking to young people with their whole life ahead of them. Do they realize that Rep. Rick Larsen’s vote [DINO,Wa.] on Whatever Issue that Would Help Us as citizens; which he always votes against in interest of Corporate. Corporate being Pharma, Military,Civil Rights Reduction, etc.]
Actually, I use TRex’s advice on How To Write An Angry Letter but I turn it into Mom talk with Staffers and how fragile THEIR FUTURE is if they believe their SOB boss, who’s already made HIS CONNECTIONS and isn’t in danger of starving. But their whole life is ahead of them.
I’m SO good at Mom Voice. I’m kind of an asshole, that way.
Liz Cheney is doomed to striving to be the Evil Spokesperson her Father wanted her to be.
Sucks to be Liz.
Oops, edit is my friend.
Sweet dreams all.
Aloha, open and Ya’ll…! Aloha Oe…! ;-)
