Fred Barnes, FoxNews pitch man and author of the seminal (literally) work on George W. Bush, is outraged, OUTRAGED, about the whole Journolist thing, the greatest scandal ever.
As a conservative, I normally write more favorably about Republicans than Democrats and I routinely treat conservative ideas as superior to liberal ones. But I’ve never been part of a discussion with conservative writers about how we could most help the Republican or the conservative team.”
But enough about ignoring the entire premise of “The Beltway Boys”, Joe Conason finds a fertile field of Barnes’ laughable hypocrisy. It appears that like the swallows returning to Capistrano, the Buzzards returning to Hinckley, and Peggy Noonan returning to rut around on Reagan’s grave au naturale, Fred Barnes annually pockets thousands from Republicans to make some asinine, partisan speech. In the name of journalism, of course, or prostitution.

Fred Barnes is probably pretty much telling the truth. Republican writers do what they’re told. That’s their job. What’s “discussion” got to do with it?
Yup. That stuff is probably decided above his pay grade.
How do wingnut writers discuss the lies necessary to present a failed ideology in good terms? By agreeing to perpetuate them. The man’s a liar because if he weren’t, he wouldn’t be ‘conservative’.
I’m not honoring them with the name, “conservative”. They’re rabid reactionaries. It’s easy to tell. Get near ‘em and get a whiff of the ozone coming from the snap, crackle and pop of their fizzing synapses. High voltage breakover failure does that. Just can’t smell it on the teevee.
Any remaining “conservatives” in America are well within the moderate wing of the Democratic party, or have given up in disgust.
Conservatism in America today is an exercise in intellectual fraud. These bozos actually pay people to cook the evidence and write academic-looking reports that prove they’re right. That’s what a right-wing think tank is. A thorough examination of everything the Heritage Foundation ever wrote or said reveals that the Right has always been right about everything.
As a corollary, the left has always been wrong. Ain’t science great?
10 Years without a Leader
Exactly. I recall the furor over Barry Goldwater’s break with moderation; “Extremism” in the pursuit of their ideals “was no vice” – it was a violation of basic philosophy of conservatism, and it remained though the solid values of moderation flew out the window.
Are they still talking abouut journolist? Weakest scandal ever.
Good morning, pups. It’s Brooks, Cohen and Krugman today. Bobo has a question in a thing he excreted called “The Growth Imperative:” Now that we’re in the decade of the nasty crawl, what political approach is best for getting us out of it? Let me guess… OOH! I think I have it — have the Democrats act more like Republicans. That’s Bobo’s solution for everything, right? Mr. Cohen, in “Modern Odysseys,” muses on the hope and the hurt of uprooting in a restless world. Prof. Krugman, in “Curbing Your Enthusiasm,” says President Obama rode into office on a wave of progressive enthusiasm. But, for many reasons, that has given way to progressive disillusionment.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got yeast waffles with warm maple syrup. I slept in this morning, so the porch kittehs are pacing and that next cup of tea is whispering my name. To say nothing of the “to do” list! Have a great day.
I pretty much agree, but then I read that people like Bruce Fein, John Dean, and Andrew Bacevich, and Justin Raimondo consider themselves to be “conservatives.”
It seems to me that there are some conservatives that I agree with on everything except economics and the social safety net.
Poor, poor Krugman. He still thinks Obama is one of “us.”
Disillusionment is an understatement.
thanks Marion, and if Dems act like the wingers, then we have total end of the rule of law, which is supposed to be good for business. Think I’ll join the Odyssey, when that happens
Good morning all.
Morning.
I’m going to need steel wool to scrub the image out of my head of Peggy Noonan rutting around on Reagan’s grave au naturale. Now my whole weekend is ruined.
