All the bullshit tossed out about the so-called Climate-Gate emails turned out to be exposed as, well bullshit. But not before FoxNews, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh tossed out lies and threats as fast as they could. (Rush’s latest bs line btw, Islam didn’t do crap for science & math — and who are you going to believe, Rush or your lying arabic numeral seeing eyes?)
Eventually, as any rational person knew, there was no scandal at all, except for the theft of property utilized by the spewers of bullshit.
Nevertheless and completely unsurprisingly, this has led to the ignorant and classy listening audience of the bloviators to send a constant stream of death-threats to scientist. Perhaps this is a course at Glenn Beck University?
Nobody could have anticipated, etc.
Oh, and now that the non-scandal has been exposed as not a scandal, we conveniently have a new reason not to do anything about climate-change because Al Gore allegedly wanted a rub and tug, thus disproving all science forever.

Perhaps Limbaugh can also explain why all those great medieval scholars of Europe spent years in the libraries of Andalusia copying down the Arabic translations and commentaries upon the Greek and Romans pagan thinkers…documents that had been destroyed by the Christian church authorities under the sanction of the Emperors (like Theodosius). Maybe he can explain how the works of Aristotle and Archimedes were preserved and improved upon in the Islamic world, when the Europeans were burning those authors.
The problem with Islamic Science is the same problem that faces modern Western Science….there are huge flocks of idiots out there who want to make the world conform literally with a document (the Quran or the Bible)
that wasn’t a Science or History book. Sarah Palin…who doesn’t even realize that fruit fly genetic research has paid off in untold ways…including the diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome…is amongst the top of these enemies of Science.
But so is Limbaugh, who never saw a scientific study that he wouldn’t disparage as “junk” if it arrived at a conclusion he didn’t previously hold. Climate studies, genetics, environmental research, psychology, biology…it’s all “junk” to Rush, who never attended a college and gets his information from “scholars” who share his extremist views.

Just when you thought it was safe to open up to the op-ed page she unleashes “Kicking the Hornet’s Nest,” in which she squeals that not quite Rockwell, the Edwards’s searing, sensational saga, painful to watch, continues. You can bet your sweet Aunt Fannie’s corset cover that MoDo isn’t finding it painful to watch, but is drooling and slavering over every sordid detail…

But, but … if there were no substance to ClimateGate,
why would the attorney general of Virginia waste precious taxpayer resources on an investigation?

Does anyone find the timing of the 2 controversies suspect? First, the climate scientist is smeared, second Gore. The Gore story appeared right about the time climate legislation was being negotiated and, for which Gore has a considerable level of influence.
As Attaturk argues, the truth behind allegations don’t have to be true- they just have to be out there. Plant doubts about a person’s integrity and their words are suspect for life.
