Lincoln Defeats Halter: Post-Mortem |
| By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday June 8, 2010 10:00 pm |
Yeah it sucks, and I’m in no mood to write one of those “we fought the good fight” pieces any more than you’re in the mood to read one. So a few quick points: 1) There is absolutely no doubt in anyone’s mind that Blanche Lincoln’s derivatives amendment would never be in the financial regulation [...]

AR-Sen: Lincoln Beats Halter |
| By: Anne-Marie Otey Tuesday June 8, 2010 8:38 pm |
Bill Halter challenged a sitting southern Democrat from the left–he came close, but he didn’t make it. The Arkansas Lieutenant Governor lost narrowly in a runoff primary to Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln, 48 to 52 percent, with 94 percent of precincts reporting. The four-point margin is very close to the difference in the primary a fortnight ago.

SC-04: Throw ‘Em Out: Challenger Bests GOP Incumbent Inglis |
| By: Jon Walker Tuesday June 8, 2010 7:30 pm |
Republican Bob Inglis is a pol in peril. As of this writing, it appears likely that he will lose his seat in South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District. In a crowded field of challengers–now with 83 percent of precincts reporting–he has only 26.2 percent of the vote compared with the leader, Spartanburg County Solicitor Trey Gowdy, who has 42.5 percent. That means the race is headed for a June 22 runoff because in South Carolina, candidates need to top 50 percent to win outright. It is difficult to imagine how Inglis will recover from a 16-point deficit heading into a runoff.

Lincoln: 51.7% Halter: 48.3% Politico and WaPo call it for Lincoln. The Lincoln-Halter runoff is probably the most interesting contest tonight, and I’m crossing my fingers for a Halter win, preferably a big one. Lincoln consistently sides with corporate donors over constituents, then pretends that this is some kind of principled stand against special interests. [...]
