Senators are doing the right thing by pushing an $8 billion addition to fund several more months of COBRA subsidies for workers laid off after June 1. We wonder, then, why House Dems, who say they care deeply about health care, didn’t sign on.

Senate Wastes Hours of Floor Time on Resolution That Can’t Pass; Film at 11 |
| By: David Dayen Thursday June 10, 2010 11:49 am |
The meaningless debate over Lisa Murkowski’s bid to stop the EPA from complying with a Supreme Court order and regulate carbon emissions will take up the whole day in the US Senate. I say “meaningless” because it has no chance of passage, after President Obama’s veto threat. But inside Versailles it’s more important to measure “humiliation” than anything else.
After Winning GOP Senatorial Nomination in Nevada, Sharron Angle Scrubs the Crazy from Her Website |
| By: Blue Texan Thursday June 10, 2010 10:30 am |
Harry Reid is the luckiest man alive. Just hours after his teabagger-backed challenger locked up the Republican nomination, she took down all the content on her website. Why? Because it contains an abundance of crazy. We’re talking head injury crazy.
How Blanche Lincoln Is Not Like Norma Rae |
| By: Jane Hamsher Thursday June 10, 2010 9:30 am |
The commentary regarding the Lincoln/Halter race continues, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. While the commentariat and a former president mistakenly projected Lincoln as a pro-labor Norma Rae, Blanche Lincoln sent Norma Rae’s job to China. | By: Jim White Thursday June 10, 2010 8:45 am |
The federal government and many local agencies have been working with BP to limit access to information and scientific analysis of the oil spill in the Gulf. Union guys are angry right now. They are sitting on the benches, they are paying union dues, and losing insurance benefits. They are watching corporate America gain strength and infiltrate the environment at big industrial sites. They are feeling like pieces of meat, instead of skilled human beings. Imagine middle class life in America without the unions? It’s the beginning of the slippery slope where humans are just cogs in a wheel.
Sen. Tom Udall: Durbin Incorrect About Social Security Fight |
| By: David Dayen Thursday June 10, 2010 7:00 am |
Sen Tom Udall backed up my memory when he appeared at the America’s Future Now conference Wednesday, regarding the attempt to privatize Social Security under the Bush administration. Udall said that “as I remember it, we had a vote, a very close vote in the House, and it didn’t succeed. It never made it to the Senate.”
Prediction: Media Will Be Angrier About AT&T iPad Security Breach than Illegal Wiretapping |
| By: emptywheel Thursday June 10, 2010 6:00 am |
I just hope this stupid iPad data compromise makes the Masters of the Universe with their new 3G iPads think a little bit about all the ways AT&T sucks.
