Will the Bushes please just go away?
For months now, Jeb Bush has been listening as President Obama blasts his older brother’s administration for the battered economy, budget deficits and even the lax oversight of oil wells.
“It’s kind of like a kid coming to school saying, ‘The dog ate my homework,’ ” Mr. Bush, this state’s former governor, said over lunch last week at the Biltmore Hotel. “It’s childish. This is what children do until they mature. They don’t accept responsibility.”
Oops. Jeb! just called his brother an immature child, because during the Bush/Cheney years, everything was everyone else’s fault–especially Bill Clinton’s. Just for starters…
“Two-and-a-half years ago, we inherited an economy in recession,” he [George W. Bush] told donors at a Bush-Cheney ’04 reception yesterday in Miami. He has raised the same accusation in fundraising appearances since mid-June in Washington, Georgia, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The Israeli/Palestinian Conflict
“It wasn’t all that long ago where a summit was called [by the Clinton administration] and nothing happened, and as a result we had significant intefadeh in the area.“
…the senior [Bush] administration official says the budgetary problems stem from what is believed to be inadequate defense, intelligence and homeland security resources that were handed down from Clinton.
“In the last six months of the prior administration [Clinton/Gore], more than 200,000 manufacturing jobs were lost. We’re turning that around,” said Bush, who cited the addition of 107,000 manufacturing jobs this year.
Bush rejected criticism from Democrats that his administration had not paid enough attention to the brewing North Korean nuclear crisis. “The North Korean situation was serious for years,” he said in a veiled swipe at former President Clinton. […]“Bilateral negotiations didn’t work. You know, I appreciate the efforts of previous administrations. It just didn’t work,” Bush said.
Even 9/11 was everyone else’s fault.
They [al Qaeda] looked at our response after the hostage crisis in Iran, the bombings of the Marine barracks in Lebanon, the first World Trade Center attack [under Clinton], the killing of American soldiers in Somalia [under Clinton], the destruction of two U.S. embassies in Africa [under Clinton], and the attack on the USS Cole [under Clinton]. They concluded that free societies lacked the courage and character to defend themselves against a determined enemy… After September the 11th, 2001, we’ve taught the terrorists a very different lesson: America will not run in defeat and we will not forget our responsibilities.
And yet, Jeb! has the balls to say,
“The issue to me is what we do now,” Jeb Bush said. “Who cares who’s to blame?”
It was awfully nice of Matt Bai of the New York Times to give Jeb! a forum to spout this nonsense unchallenged.
Great job, Matt!

But what Jebbie says isn’t hypocrisy it’s just IOKIYAR.
Jeb’s going to be President in 2012. You heard it here first.
*cough* Katrina *cough*
That’s funny.
and the official roll-out of “Bush/Cheney 2012″ (jeb/liz) has begun…
Take a deeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath. Now……..Hold it! (You’re going to asphyxiate before there is another president named Bush) You heard that here first.
Jeb is just like Obama – have to look forward. Can’t look back – might be something gaining on you.
Sounds like it. WTF another BV$H? The country won’t survive a third one. We’ve barely survived the last!
“It’s childish to hold my brother…”
Jeb Bush should be in prison.
That is EXACTLY what my alcoholic friend used to say whenever something bad had happened and it was finally established, after her many attempts at blaming someone else had failed, that she was to blame.
Well, if the issue is what should be done now, most sane humans would say step number one is not listening to the fools who got us into all these messes in the first place.
OT. House members of panel drop demand for bank fund
Hopeless.
Very likely to piss off Sarah Palin. Maybe they can placate her with a cabinet post…Secretary of Jesusy Stuff, maybe…
Never miss a chance to bash Obama.
Somehow talking about these boys always reminds me that intelligence is linked to the mother’s genes.
Doncha know “Battleaxe” Barb and George the Elder must be so awfully proud of their offspring…
I’ve gotta thank Jeb’s older brother for turning me into a religious man! I pray everyday that another Bush will never ever step foot in the White House again.
Never thought much of Bai, but this is just felonious. Also proclamatory. Jeb Bush?! Henceforth there is no reason to pay any attention to Bai apart from a futile search for amusement.
And I think Margaret’s right. To the point where there might at last even be a few willing to whistleblow themselves rather than see another one.
Who cares whose fault it is? I care. Anyone who is sentient should care.
Hey Jebbie, if your daughter gets wasted again on drugs and say, has a car crash where she ran down and killed a pedestrian, I advise you not to use the “who cares whose fault it is” line in court.
“To those to whom much is given, much is expected.” That means taking personal responsibility, not saying It wasn’t me or Let’s look forward or Let’s not point fingers.
“… roll-out of “Bush/Cheney 2012″ (jeb/liz)…”
Damn, that’s what I wanted to say, although isn’t it just as possible that it could be Cheney/Bush? The republicans do seem to be embracing their feminine side.
Sadly, he may be the least nuts of the presumed (republican) candidates so far.
We could have an election shaping up where we have the least bad running against the least nuts.
Hmmmm. Who is the better choice for Prez in 2012. Palin? Jebbie? Some teabagger we haven’t heard of yet?
Accountability is only for the small people. Not giants like the Bush’s! Or corporations. Or Republicans.
Bring back Papoon!
Yupper. The whole fricking reason the Bushes had to run with Dubya as the dynastic successor to Poppy as president was because Jeb’s so scandal-tainted there’s no way he could have got past the primaries. (It’s also one of the reasons he’s no longer governor of Florida — he’d gone about as far as his baggage would allow.)
Here’s a small taste:

Wait a minute: I thought being a lowlife was a Republican requirement these days? I stand corrected. (PW @ 25)
The Bushes seem to have a talent…albeit a small one…for dodging responsibility WHEREVER IT MAY OCCUR! The grandfather (Prescott) funded Adolf Hitler in his runup to WWII; the father managed to escape the crash of his torpedo bomber in WWII…but ONLY after he jumped while leaving a crewman aboard to die.
George W.?? What can you say about him??? Gutless whore who flew with a “champagne unit” but was unwilling to actually GO TO WAR! Also responsible for over 4,000 U.S. servicemen dying in his unwarranted Iraq war. A real prize, that one!!!
And, finally, poor dumb Jeb (where in the hills of Tennessee did he get that name?).
As a family, they are about as responsible as the Coroleones!
I believe Jeb! stands for “John E. Bush.”
Maybe it is childish, but it’s prety fucking stupid to blame Bush for the problems, then turn around and do the same damn thing. Two wars, wire-tapping, torture, rendition, corporate ass-kissing, playing golf in the middle of the worst ecological disaster ever, another sorry ass Supreme Court pick, failue to close Gitmo, bigger Pentagon budget, failure to end DADT, failure to enact EFCA, same damn bullshit, different ass sitting in the Oval Office.
Good idea.
It’s just too damned bad he turned out deserving to be bashed.
I would’ve preferred not bashing him and praising him.
But, he chose his path.
Still, I wish he would’ve chosen different…. The country would’ve been sooooooooooo much better off.
Sarah doesn’t want to be president and there isn’t a cabinet post in the world that will make her more money than she’s making right now.
She’s a cash whore. that’s all she’s interested in.
That whole post was beautiful Jan, and I especially loved that close.
Hope you won’t mind if I use it from time to time.
John Ellis Bush to be exact as in John Ellis, the cousin who was working at FOX news when the other media outlets called Florida for Gore and FOX wouldn’t go along with it by naming Bush the winner. NBC retracted its projection that Gore had won and thus we got the unconstitutional meddling by SCOTUS that brought us the Cheney/Bush presidency.
jack fucking ass
Have to agree with you. Bush and Cheney opened the door and it would appear that Obama stepped right through. I really wanted for Obama to be the best president we ever had and I think he is almost paralyzed because he doesn’t want to offend anyone. Not the way to lead IMO.
That’s probably one of the dumbest things ever uttered by anyone, anywhere (to borrow a phrase)..
EVERYTHING that his brother chimpy did was a COMPLETE F***-UP..EVERYTHING.. We’ll have to wait a VERY LONG TIME to find anyone that acted more obtuse than chimpy…He was/is a walking disaster… Jeb should take a lesson from him and STFU…..
Hey, Jeb. Fuck you and that foul rotten ass neocon horse you rode in on.
Will everything be Orahma’s fault if that happened? Of course.
LOL, you forgot to add this…
‹^› ‹(•¿•)› ‹^›
I’ve been waiting for the massive Bush rehabilitation effort to commence on Jeb’s behalf. So nice of the NY Times to intiate the process, which is an enormous undertaking but one with which the Bushes are familiar.
I am sure he’s running in 2016, 2012 if Obama continues to screw up.
Jebbie looks so presidential in that photo!
I agree. It would be very different IF BHO had done what we elected/hired him to do, which is to REVERSE, or at least work on, the damage wrought by Bush/Cheney. I would settle (at this point) for BHO just fracking STOPPING DOING the illegal unconsitutional stuff. But in any case, no, BHO continues doing what his parasitic predecesser did and more.
So, esp at 18 months down the line, BHO continuing to blame W is really LAME and old and tired. BHO needs to start taking personal responsibility for his crappy choices, not that I’ll hold my breath.
Can’t stand any of the Bush clan, though, and as far as I’m concerned, JEB can stick it where the sun don’t shine. His brother was a complete disaster, and I didn’t like Dad or Grandpa either. None of that clan’s done a damn bit of good for this country and has done a huge amount of harm, imo. STFU JEB; not interested in whatever crap you’re peddling.
Here, the premise of every thread is that everything is indeed Obama’s fault.
If I recall correctly, the first WTC attack was in mid- to late-February of 1993. Clinton had been on the job about a month, so how much blame for that attack should be attributed to Poppy Bush?
Well, exactly, but considering that the Bush family has gone back in time to re-invent history, they now also blame 9/11 on Clinton… and not just that it was Clinton’s fault for not doing enough while he was in office (agruable), but as in: Clinton was the for-real actual POTUS when 9/11 happened.
Go figure.
Beat me to it, Matt!
Yeah, who was it not long ago (Liz maybe???) that said “There were no terrorist attacks during the Bush Presidency.”
Riiiiight. Well, none I guess except for like the biggest one in our history.
Yupper. And when Sandy Berger, Clinton’s national security guy, was preparing to testify about his role and thus got copies of some of his old notes on the Millenium Plot (which he foiled) and other things he handled well and Condi and Company not at all, the Bushies had him prosecuted for it.
Don’t forget Neil “why do these hookers keep ending up in my room/Silverado S&L was a successful business venture” Bush…
Hasn’t been a winning Republican ticket without a Bush on it since Nixon. Don’t think for a minute we’ve heard the last from this family.
“It’s kind of like a kid coming to school saying, ‘The dog ate my homework,’ ” Mr. Bush, this state’s former governor, said over lunch last week at the Biltmore Hotel. “It’s childish. This is what children do until they mature. They don’t accept responsibility.”
Funny that Jebbie is calling Georgie a “dog,” because this is a case in which the “dog” DID actually EAT the homework, the U.S. Constitution, one federal statute after another, leaving tatters in place for the next president to try to clean-up.
nah, Papadick has shown Babydick the real power lies in the shadows…
It’s always a pleasure to be lectured by the man who orchestrated the theft of the 2000 Presidential election and the subversion of the American government.
Yes, he exudes just the right air of piety for me.
Now, as the OP suggests, let the earth open up and swallow him and his entire worthless brood.
By all means, please feel free. We both have the same “ass”.
Whenever we have be reminded of Dubya’, I’ll relink to this video of him screwing the planet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIl2BdiGsSA
Painful to watch, but the Liza Minnelli soundtrack makes it worthwhile.
Yeah, let’s forget about the Bush family, so we can continue the legacy left by the Clinton’s. Undoubtably she’ll be the candidate in 2016. Yeah, that’s just what we need. Another legacy. Another aristocrat. So many lemmings will flock to her. “It’s the woman’s turn…” blah blah blah Forget all the jobs that she and Bill lost for us in the 1990s, or what a bang up administration she is currently part of. Yeah, she’s a winner.
Everyone will flock to her… lemmings.
Two wars were there before Obama came in.
I don’t know of any illegal or improper wire-tapping, torture or rendition.
Corporate ass kicking maybe, but where’s the kissing?
Playing golf in this heat & humidity may be a mistake, but …
Kagan isn’t necessarily bad. She’s certainly better than 5 of the supremes.
No failure in closing Gitmo, just no support from Congress.
Ending DADT will just take a while.
Ask the Republicans about blocking EFCA.
Bigger defense budget in the middle of two wars…yeah, okay.
Same b.s. from Republicans.
Jeb Bush: It’s “Childish” to Hold My Brother Accountable for Decisions He Made as President.
No no. He said, “It is ridiculous to hold my childish brother accountable for decisions he made as president.”
I love Jeb’s analogy of a lame-excuse “my dog ate my homework,” except in the case of his older brother, George W., the “dog” actually DID eat the homework, leaving his successor to dig through the dog poop.
George W. Bush, as the worst president in U.S. history, ate Enron, ate the World Trade Centers, ate the career of Valerie Plame Wilson, ate Wall Street, ate New Orleans, ate the budget surplus handed off to him by President Bill Clinton, ate the U.S. Constitution, ate one federal statute after another, ate the Bill of Rights, ate Iraq, ate the Geneva Conventions. George W.’s appetite for eating everything in sight while president was insatiable. What a dog. And he obviously wasn’t paper-trained.
All feed to him by the Supreme Court.
Obama has done nothing to end the wars. If you haven’t heard of torture, wire tapping, and rendition, you’ve not been paying attention. See the nonhealthcare bill for corporate ass kissing at it’s finest. Kagan isn’t necessarily good, he could and should have done better. Gitmo, DADT, EFCA, and the fucking wars requires leadership, something sadly lacking in this administration. Wake the fuck up!
“Sadly, he may be the least nuts of the presumed (republican) candidates so far.”
True, dat.
Well, that’s because the New Leftists claim we’re blaming Obama for not doing things that he’s started but will take much longer. They lie. We really blame Obama for the positive choices he’s made that were completely within the power of the President to accomplish by signing an order. We also complain when he makes choices the opposite from what he campaigned for. So, for example, we blame Obama because he decided he couldn’t possibly fight the insurance companies and in a secret agreement with them promised that a public option would not be passed. Then he got Joe Lieberman to carry his water. Stuff like that and the “secret” annex to the prison at Bagram, etc.
