Frank Sinatra — High Hopes, from The Frank Sinatra Show, 1959.
What’s on your mind?
Hello Suzanne! I am watching “Amelie.”
hi Suze! Hi CE!
hey ce — i’m watching the weather doodette to see if i’m gonna get any sunshine this week. the rains returned late last nite and have hung around all day.
Everyone seems sad — an I influenced by french films?
hey ndfg — how ya feeling tonight?
the torture thread immediately downstairs has folks pretty down ce.
Oh yes, it made me cringe, and cry.
Well, I dunno. Seems like we’ve gone from “film noir” to “world noir” and I frankly have no clue anymore about what to do about it.
hey kelly — how’s denver tonight?
Hey dude…
my cinephile daughter doesn’t care for French films, sys they’re too depressing.
We LOVE them, even when they make us cry.
That vid was taken back before we had blacks/asians/latinos/ american indians.
hey loohoo — how’s socal tonight?
Hey me darlin Suz!
It’s hot for us. 11:00 and still 75!
Doing some paralegalish-type grinding through papers for Belch’s folks Medicaid app. It’s maddening.
getting to the bored stage. I am determinedly taking it easy tho. It’s a mixed blessing that my eye problems are not painful. So there’s no big OWTCHEE to tell me to stop.
Another 1.6″ of rain today. Damn! I lost track! 8 to9 ” since about a month ago.
Warming up. 76 inside and really warm outside. No more socks! Hope you get some sunshine, Suz.
after bored comes cranky and frustrated. and yay for no pain but still, tis good to be aware of other things beside pain that tell ya to slow down.
Amelie — best French film forever. MrCE and I LOVE LOVE this film.
yikes.. and ya had snow what, two weeks ago?
What does the doc say? Are you supposed to limit your reading?
i tend to like ‘em too. It’s a subject upon which my daughter and i cheerfully agree we have different tastes.
Hi Suz. How’s tricks?
hey starbuck — weather doodette said that we get to dry out for a day or two with more rain headed this way wed.
how ya doing tonight?
that’s a good way of putting it … “world noir.” My response is to go dig up more lawn and plant more beneficial stuff.
hey bg — i’m doing ok, tired but ok. how about you?
bgrothus…never ask a woman “How’s tricks?”
Aloha, Suz, NDFG, and LLN Pups…! ;-)
Sorry that I’m late…!
yeah, i’ve got the cranky and frustrated down pat! Nine months of fucking around with 2D vision and an eye patch has contributed to an on-going surly attitude.
hey ct — how’s paradise tonight? you mt or beach?
It’s been hotter than hades around these parts. We had some rain at my mom’s tonight, then it was muggy, but it’s cool now. But at my house, my animals and my garden are surely suffering in the heat.
Snow was May 11th. But it stayed very cool after that – weirdly so, but then POOF, HEAT! About 10 days ago.
Unless ya mean it…! ;-)
i’ve been meaning to rent Amelie, your rec’d is additional incentive.
Just finished a Copper River salmon dinner. Strange taste. I think I burned some herbs along the way. House still smells like it. Folks enjoyed it but I have to tell ya, I don’t think it was right.
I’m getting ready to make good use of the next few days.
i’ve forgotten what region you are in bg — sf bay area???
nm
light bulb illuminating… boy oh boy was i off target *laughing*
evening, Suz & firegods
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
Beach… Today’s headline in my local rag about sums it up…
8-(
nm, south bay, what’s the dif?
it all came here dood
That too!
Yanno, a couple days ago I was talking with my hunny, belch. And I was saying “Yanno, I just can’t relate to the sheer scope of greed we’re seeing.”
He said something like “Yeah, I think you or I are being greedy when we snag the last of the treats we might be making, like some cake or some pie or whatever. But these millions and billions from people who already HAVE millions or billions…”
And that’s really it. Despite everything, I’ve never thought I was naive, but case after case proves that it’s true. I know diddly squat about the actual depths of greed and depravity.
THat’s really flipping me out actually.
That’s right. We didn’t get them ’till the 60s ;
hot hot hot, but cooler today
hey sunny — got that recipe yet?
Wow! Now the NYT is on what Jeff Kaye reported.
Human experimentation by nazi doctors was a war crime. So how is not now?
OT: Help, I’m having hallucinations: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/37546705/ns/today-entertainment/
WTF?
WTF?
All of a sudden, they just appeared. Weird!
excellent — tis hard to ignore it when it is reported in the nytimes — hopefully other papers and teevee media types will pick it up too.
I’m glad I’m not the only one, but again, what a fucking thing for which to be glad!
hey bb – how’s your bay tonight? i totally agree that it was, and still is, no matter what john yoo said.
hey eblair — teddy had a diary up about elton over at seminal today.
how ya doing tonight?
Not much going on here. She didn’t want to feed me but relented. Waiting for some food. Supposed to go out for a stroll later but may have a case of the lazies.
*heh* Ain’t this some shirt…
Fancy that…! 8-)
not yet… maybe this week.
Who didn’t want to feed you?
Wowzers! Very cool.
:) twill be a very good thing, especially with summer just around the corner
Hey y’all, first practice went ok.
We’ll see what happens…
woohoo — a good thing dood :) how ya doing?
4 Gazans killed by Israeli navy.
Why my significant other.
shit
Had a nice yoga session this morning and a row on the bay this afternoon. 74 degrees until the wind picked up. Still a great exercise, legs, back arms and lungs get strong work for 1/2 hour or so. So a lot of work in short time as long as the tide is at least 1 foot. Lots to read. I guess you have wind and rain so still cosing up. LIttle late for all the rain isn’t it. I lived in Portland and Eugene for 11 years and June on was pretty.
four dead, two missing plus also the 9 dead and six missing from earlier this week. No good comes of this.
It’s been “just around the corner” here for weeks!
Beats the hell out of me.
hey margot — how ya doing?
I had a long day today, so I’m outa here. Have fun everyone, be good to each other.
g’nite bg
Can’t you feed yourself?
Margot, are you getting the bad storms?
Good night. We’ll behave!
Not right in town but I see the Columbus stations reports of people killed in them. Is it headed your way?
Night bg
I worked all day! We have a deal!
yikes…. stay safe (((ohio readers)))
Doing well thank you, and thanks for the music.
Hi Folks. It was fairly nice here today, but I spent it watching bad TV.
It keeps me from thinking.
It’s fine here. Just wondered if your part of the world was involved in that storm system..
hey spocko — escapism is important, esp during turbulent times spocko. we gotta take care of ourself so that we can take action and take care of others.
glad ya liked it margot. the wiki (the 1959 link) had some info about this song, including how the lyrics were reworked so jfk could use it in his campaign.
I get it. That’s fair!
my cable teevee just went out — means my internet connection will poof next.
guess this is g’nite folks. thanks for letting me spend a wee bit of time with ya tonight.
Somebody gave me a HUGE red velvet muffin today. Dense and yummy. Prolly satisfied my 2010 red dye quota;-)
It’s good to take a break sometimes, Spocko. Too much madness coming from every direction.
Good night, Suz. Sleep well.
I took her for lunch and wine and so she kinda thought dinner no longer needed!
I’ve never heard of a red velvet muffin!
What did she fix?
Nite suz, thanks. I’m out too.
Nite, Sunny. I’ll say good night too. Nice meeting you eblair!
Today I spoke to an expert in Environmental heath who specializes in clean up of toxins. We talked about the whole respirator issue. He explained to me why the workers won’t be getting them.
It’s just bizarre to me that people will get sick and end up having permanent lung damage because of the American principle, “Get sick, file suit, wait for settlement” vs. the “better safe than sorry” method in the EU.(Precautionary principle)
Aloha, Suz…!
Before ya go, Loo Hoo…
My better half was ragging me to finish cooking earlier…! ;-)
Well good. Maybe something will come of it, but somehow I doubt it. It helps that she’s American/Israeli perhaps.
Steak dipped in some kinda batter, boiled potatoes and bok choi.
YUM!
Boing Boing interviews the doc leading the experiments in Torture. Good read.
I want to see the same special attention given to Turkish-American Fulkan Dogan’s murder…! 8-(
happy 100 ct!
my intertubes are back — now i’m outta here for realsies
I know. Wrath, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony seem quaint by comparison. You can only eat so much, can only be so lazy, but greed is potentially unlimited. And, greed can be corporatized in ways the others cannot and expanded infinitely.
*heh* At least somebody noticed, Aloha…! *g*
