FDL Movie Night: Casino Jack and the United States of Money |
| By: Lisa Derrick Monday May 17, 2010 5:00 pm |
Sundance hit Casino Jack and the United States of Money is everything a documentary should be: Fast paced, informative and fun. It opens with Jack Abramoff’s quote that no one watches documentaries, suggesting that an action film be made instead, and rockets on from there, beginning with a murder and taking us through the perfidious history of Jack Abramoff, a master of corruption, shady deals and deregulation and the fallout: Human trafficking, environmental disasters, the hornswoggling of Indian tribes for casino profits, and murder.

| By: RHRealityCheck Monday May 17, 2010 4:30 pm |

But his moderate pose has made him the most acceptable to the general electorate in California among the three candidates in the June GOP Senate primary. Campbell posts the best numbers against Barbara Boxer, basically in a dead heat, [...]

| By: Jim White Monday May 17, 2010 2:20 pm |
Over the weekend, we learned that significant amounts of the oil released into the Gulf of Mexico from the Deepwater Horizon spill may be contained in giant plumes of oil beneath the surface. The presence of these plumes is raising concern that oxygen levels surrounding these plumes could fall below what is needed to sustain life for many marine organisms.
It’s Not About “Purity” and Purges – It’s About Trust |
| By: Jane Hamsher Monday May 17, 2010 1:45 pm |
“Centrism”has long been the the tag that corporatists like to affix to their morally inert brand of politics. “For sale” might be a better label.
