The Steve Miller Band — Take The Money and Run, live April 9, 2008, at the Kodak Theater, Los Angeles.
What’s on your mind?
Aloha, Suz…!
aloha ct — how’s paradise tonight?
I was supposed to be up top tonite, but, it was canceled due to inclement weather…!
Hey Suz and CT! Take a look at my friend’s tee shirts.
hey senator — how’s sac tonight?
:( but on the positive side, ya can stay on the thread and not have to go outside in that inclement weather
Wet. I just did the blog whore thing without thinking. :)
Ooh, I need a couple of those for when I descend upon the Gulf…! ;-)
Suz!
I admit it – I am late ’cause I am watching the stream, got transfixed.
bad newt
stream?
tis a sem blog whore so it don’t count :) wet up here too… bands of rain to break up the monotony of the steady drizzle
hey newton — how’s the west bay tonight?
Finally heard back from hiring manager from interview about 8 weeks ago.
No offer. 5 resumes went out today.
that live feed in teh gulf.. tis a fucking time machine — sucks ya in and the space/time thingie gets all forked up
fuck dayam, i’m so sorry wmd
Fine.
sorry wmd
reminds me of those old light shows back in the day at concerts…. if ya hadn’t imbibed, ya sure felt like ya had after watching the swirling color changes…
The robots under the Gulf. It’s fascinating, and sick and twisted, but I am hoping this works.
crap. It really takes little pieces out of you. Sometimes it feels like either you are invisible or the rest of the world is. Those resumes go out into the ether and no energy comes back. I find it almost confusing.
ça va.
Is it the same link that is on FDL? Mine won’t load.
that’s the attitude. when it is meant to happen, it will wmd.
This one.
And Suz, great tune.
She and her team liked me enough to pay a third party to check out my academic credentials, etc a week after 4 hours of interviews. And apparently she had another candidate that was hard to get in for an interview that finally got checked out. Why she couldn’t say what was going on a month ago is beyond me.
I heard back from one company I sent a resume to today less than a half hour after I sent it – they’re going to do a first round screen this week. Of the other four I’m a good fit for 2 positions, and can certainly work out for the other two.
thanks newton — i betcha it is what the fools on the bp board wish they could do….
that’s encouraging dood
Btw, M’dear… No LQQK for using your name in vain earlier…? ;-)
i musta missed it… go ahead, spill it, dood
They so admire Blankfein right now…
That all sounds good. What do you do?
aren’t bp and gs partners on somethiing somewhere??? too much info, so little brain cells..
Michael’s Help Me Tell Their Stories…! (ducking…)
I hope so.
ct, ya think?
I think the hiring manager probably got tired of having cow orkers ask her about me. Three people in her company had recommended me to her and wanted to know how things were proceeding, she’d had one that works with her have a brief conversation with her yesterday. I’d mentioned to him that not relaying a negative decision is rude and maybe that got her to show me some courtesy.
Today I contacted 3 hardware companies (heard back from one, need to ping an HR person in another), one biotech needing hybrid supercomputing person, one somewhat strange software company. I’ve got a couple more leads to follow up on this week.
So sorry wmd.. :-(
evening, Suz
Dayam, even has the power beads to boot…! ;-)
The live feed is so neutral looking. It doesn’t even feel energetic. It does suck you in, doesn’t it.
I do software performance work. Supercomputing and parallel programming. Technical marketing engineering work – helping show customers how to get results faster with new hardware or software.
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
and knows how to use them
It’s wet in Ben Lomond tonight.
I wish I could do that. I can barely get a site up these days. I cannot seem to make javascript stick in my head.
Hiya, pups! Greetings from one of the crazy capitals of the USA.
hey et — how’s alaska tonight?
i miss that rain. so soft when filtered by the redwoods ….
Aloha, ET…! Quite the lively discussion happening on your diary…! 8-)
I don’t do much javascript. I code mainly in C, Fortran, Assembly… Perl, various shells for scripting.
no quarters for the jukebox yet and we just passed 50 comments?
snap outta it
A light rain off and on most of the day, Suz — odd for late May
If you did the whole blog whore thing without thinking, well, at least you’re a Blog Whore with a heart of gold.!!!!
hey openhope — she’s a natural!!! how ya doing tonight?
Here’s some music.
been like november up here for the past week or so. strange weather for sure
As I wrote, this may become one of the most memorable confrontations in recent years. I remember when the USSR and the Warsaw Pact hegemony was collapsing, how much the early internet helped spread the word. It is beyond ironic that so many of the people now influencing Israeli politics got to get out of the USSR through that instant communication-fueled revolution. Yet the IDF will be deploying more advanced anti-instant communication technology Friday than even BP is using in the Gulf.
aaaawww sucks.
And a bit more from a beautiful Canadian.
more joni
and another canadian
And another Canadian.
and yet another
Evening openhope. How’s it going with the gum?
Doing well, thank you. My garden is kicking ass. I’m not one to advocate for products. That said, I got a very cool/ugly pullover for Mother’s day that changed my twilight gardening with bugs challenge FOREVER.
It’s called the Bug Baffler, I bought it [ cuz that's what easy Moms do :>] through Territorial Seeds. Your own personal bug netting in a pull over with a zippered hood.
I might have to buy stock in this company.
and then there is always gordon
i love territorial seeds. i get their catelog and e-newsletter
Not Canadian.
May’s the new November, eh?

Not the Canadian band’s original version?
Two of Canada’s finest song birds, together…!

Please be careful when you do get to the Gulf area. Many volunteers and workers are getting very sick. The dispersant is very toxic. See my diary (uh oh, being a blogwhore too… ) for linkies on illness and other stuff. Marvin
And here’s the offspring of that Canadian band doing one of the song‘s that made them famous.

Work Song, Nat/Cannonball Adderly
Work Song Butterfield Blues Band
There’s a KILLER live version out there somewhere of this song, done by Natalie Merchant, with VOCALS and words.
But Alas, it’s gone . . . . and lord, it was fine.
There’s MY phookin two bits for tonite, Ma’am . . . . ;-)
Great job, Pel…! I’ve been monitoring that, but, seriously it still needs to be cleaned up and/or reported on…! *g*
not bad… for a start *wink*
i’ve not heard cannonball in years — thanks
Just for fun!
That’s an interestring choice. Last week, I got asked to do my first jazz gig in Anchorage since before I wrote my music about Rachel Corrie in early 2004. Before that, I’d get calls weekly, or at least monthly. Then, after my music, nada for over six years.
The song you linked to, When I Fall In Love, was our last slow song Saturday night, in an arrangement by Sammy Nestico.
Now yer in MY turf, I play that appalachian dulcimer.
Shady Grove Picked Good
Not me.
But danged good technique.
*G*
N Then There’s Whiskey Before Breakfast.

I’ll out it up on Saturday Art. It’s that good.
How’s my luck tonight?
So, they are trying to kill the gulf so they can DBD!

Another Canadian Bird! If it’s already up there somewhere, sorry. I needed this!
I know, and I figured you would be aware of the problems. I understand, and think it is great that you are going to help. :hattip:
Not NGR.
This event is one of them sit on the edge of yer seat cuz ya KNOW something’s gotta give.
And USA MSM has avoided it, for the most part thru and thru, the bastids.
If Israel goes off, and pisses off The Turks, this is a fireball waiting to happen.
We’ll see, but it’s got ME riveted . . . and if any Pups are NOT following it, I would encourage total immersion immediately. This could be big.
canadian cowboys
FUCK
My most favorite song.
Sweet NGR.
F100K.

Jukebox is pretty full now.

Yeah, great message Pel, it’s getting ugly down there, and out there on the water.
We haven’t scratched the surface of this disaster, and who and how it hurts.
Humans AND marine life.

Good lord, a bluegrass staple.
“Every body I met,
Seemed to be a rank stranger.
No mother no dad,
Not a friend I could see.
They knew not my name,
And I knew not their faces.
I found they was all.
Rank strangers to me.”

Aloha, Suz…! Pleasant dreams…!
Buenos Noches from a lonely room
Exactly. I’ve coached executives in telling conflict stories before. Make great stories but it Is also scary because they have to keep working in the industry. And BP and Exxon will happily punish them later.
I could tell you stories…
If he was my client I would coach him on which part of the story to tell. His goal is to sell product, and you don’t want to piss off customers, but if he can sell product to other customers later he might be able to run with the story.
The needs of the press aren’t always the needs of the company, there is a line to walk.
I had a Wall Street Journal story lined up for one client. The story was interesting. Their product would solve real problems. But some new VP came in and killed it because he was afraid it would make a potential customer look bad.
I had to call the WSJ and say no to a front page story I had set up.
I could not prove to them I knew that this story was going to be good for sales. All they saw was a potential customer being upset. Not every client is cut out for the same kinds of stories in the media.
