Who’s afraid of Sarah Palin? According to Sr. K. J. Lopez, OLSB*, LIBERAL BROADS.
When Sarah Palin speaks, liberal feminists go wild.
We do? Why, I suppose we do. We go wild. When Sarah Palin speaks, if that is the correct word to describe what she does when she creates noises approximating language, we promptly place our tongues firmly in each others’ cheeks. Also we remove our tops and say “whoo.” I don’t know why we do this, precisely. Perhaps Sr. Lopez will explain.
The woman is like a stilettoed catalyst for backlash from the professional political sisterhood.
That metaphor should be shot from a helicopter.
Much of the bitterness that gushes forth from the lefty ladies has very little to do with Palin herself. It’s about many of the things she represents: She’s a happy mom, surrounded by a big family and husband; she’s pro-life, religious and conservative; and, lest we forget, a political powerhouse the likes of which has not been seen for decades.
Hmmm. I am not entirely sure that anyone is actually “bitter” about Sarah Palin, precisely because she is not, you know, a “political powerhouse,” but rather widely disliked, perhaps because she is not altogether articulate, in the sense that she is not very smart. Also, I myself am, well, married, to a woman, who is a liberal, as am I, and we have several children, and we’re reasonably happy, when they go to sleep, anyhow, so I am not entirely sure what Sr. Lopez is on about here, personally. Perhaps Sr. Lopez is having a spat with the Holy Spirit, who has been out boozing with Jesus and the boys and who has suspicious lipstick on his intangibility, or else she just has a damp and itchy wimple, and is therefore grouchy. Or something.
The rest of the piece is about how the Suffragettes were all exactly like Sarah Palin, because they weren’t, but they totally should have been, because, obviously, Conservative Women have to go back a century to even pretend they’re right about something, which even then, they weren’t.

Well, i will admit that i, as a liberal feminist go wild when i hear Failin Palin speak. Wild with laughter at her word salads, among other things.
As much as I like the idea of that crackpot racist closeted poseur Bill Buckley rolling over in his grave at what this woman is doing to the publication he invented, I am starting to have pity on his shade. Lopez is loopy.
The dearth of criticism of Palin from feminists does seem to be a fact of the matter.
And yeah — where is this evidence of her happy momitude, exactly? Happy moms don’t pawn their sensitive special needs babies off to strangers the moment the jet touches down unless there’s a camera light on, in which case Tigger goes under her arm like a sack of flour or a baguette.
And don’t get me started on Piper, future escapee to chez Watertiger.

I admit I have not gotten a survey. But several female commenters have said to me yes they agree but the topic is boring.

I just want to know why people are so reflexively hysterical when Sarah Palin is mentioned? She has no position of power or authority. So who cares, really. But on the other hand so many refuse to say anything ill against President 0bama because it might be construed as racist. The only words anybody will dare speak is “disappointed in him”. If being unable to voice outrage at a person of color is a sign of not being a racist, then I seem to not understand the qualities of being enlightened. I am outrage at him and his policies and his corporate ties. This BP disaster is the final disappointment, or should I say outrage. I am furious and if Bush were behaving the same way with this oil disaster in the Gulf, we would be apoplectic and then some. Forget Palin and concentrate on the ones in power!

Sadly, while I wish you were correct, Palin does in fact have considerable influence, if over a rather small (though potentially dangerous) segment of society. All of the media attention she gets, along with the speaking gigs, give her a platform from which to spread her deranged, but dangerous eliminationist demagoguery.

I am a liberal broad and I have to say, the mere sight, much less the sound, of Bible Spice incites me to violence. To me she represents the Stupids, the

One could probably make the case that the refusal by some to criticize Obama might be an example of Gerson’s ‘soft bigotty low expectorant’ sort of thing. I wouldn’t agree, I think it’s more along the line of, “Yes he’s an incompetent fuck but he’s OUR incompetent fuck.”

She would be funny if she were trying to do an imitation of a political imbecile as satire, but no, she IS a genuine imbecile as the intelligence needed to appreciate satire is beyond her simplistic comprehension. Yet we have a wacky splinter group and the media attempting to legitimize her as something credible instead of laughing her off the stage in disgust as we should.
Our political system is broken enough. We need to call out frauds like Palin whenever we can to make sure she never gets any substantial traction with the public.

Very few groups outside the GOP have that kind of arrogance lack of empathy and expect to be respected no matter what they say with no thought who the audience is.

Clinton attracted a number of moderate Republicans, especially the “Rockefeller Republicans”, who were disenchanted with the direction of their own party. There are also a small, but significant body of racist Democrats who were and are not happy with a black candidate.
Valid possibility and they fit the profile.

In fact, the pictures from this week seem to look very much like the pictures from when her mother “outed” her at the RNC. I suspect we will soon learn there has been an immaculate conception. We can all celebrate (celibate?) new life, from the girl who’s telling other girls, “you can’t do it, but I can because I’m special, I’m a Palin and we are better than you.” Big fat plate of Hypocrisy there Sarah?
