I do loves me some wingnut pundit fail.
HANNITY: All right. The race that I am most interested in tonight, and we may get the results maybe sometime this hour and if we do, I’m very interested in this, and that is the Pennsylvania 12 race.
And here you have John Murtha’s old seat he held for all these years. 2-1 Democrat to Republican registration in the district. It’s literally neck-and-neck going into this race. If Burns pulls this off tonight what would that say to you?
PALIN: I think Burns will pull this off tonight. And just like the “Randslide” that we were just talking about, you’re going to see Burns having this representation of a smaller, smarter government, getting the economy back on the right track with some limited overreach of the government. That’s what Burns stands for. [...] We need someone like Tim Burns in there. And you’re going to see that via vote today with the electorate.
Only the Quitter can so effortlessly produce phrases like “via vote today with the electorate.” That’s why she gets the big bucks.
Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth.
Republican Tim Burns has conceded to Democrat Mark Critz in the special election to fill the late Jack Murtha’s (D) congressional seat in Pennsylvania. [...] And as we pointed out in First Read this morning, this GOP loss — in this environment — raises REAL questions about the Republican Party’s ability to take back in the House in November.
Why? If the GOP couldn’t win here — the only congressional seat that John Kerry won in ’04 but Obama lost in ’08 — it’s not going to have an easy time netting the 40 House seats in November it needs to retake the House.
With Critz’s apparent victory, this becomes the SEVENTH-straight competitive special House contest that Democrats have won and the GOP has lost since 2008.
It must be so comforting to watch Faux if you’re a wingnut. No doubt, this unfortunate little episode won’t be discussed today — even though this was the race Hannity was “most interested in.” It’ll be scrubbed away by some Winston Smith-type figure at Faux, and all will be comfortably plus plus good for the GOP again.
Randslide!

This is news?
You’re torturing us with that pic, BT. Man, she is fug-ugly.
You are just misunderstanding the situation here, Blue Texan. It’s ALL good for the GOP, don’tcha know – even when they lose it’s good for Rethuglicans. This is true because I’ve heard it said, repeatedly, on Faux News. It’s like when they lost the House & Senate in ’08 – it was only the deadwood that got pruned, leaving just the TRUE GOPers. and when the number of GOP-controlled Senate seats shrinks to 40, that will be good for the party, too.
You are simply misunderstanding the simple-minded nature of GOP politics and voters, Texan. This has been a wonderful election for the GOP – it’s just that darned evil left-wing media that is distorting the real truth about this election.
Yeah, some limited overreach! That’s the ticket!
You have a scary-smart understanding of the best wingnut ‘minds’ Mr Texan.
Boy, that hyper-turbo RSS feed sure is working well for you, isn’t it?
Ah, aoyama, woke up on the wrong side of the bed again today? Maybe a nap would help.
They’ll claim that Critz “stole” the election somehow.
I think this is tribalism. What is the difference between a conservative nutcase Republican winning and the aide of a corrupt and conservative Congressman doing so? Answer: On the substance, there isn’t one. Hence, the tribalism, that one of “ours” won over one of theirs.
No, just get lucky sometimes. :)
Slept fine. No naps at work.
Not so much….but I don’t want to add to her coverage….now the daughter is going to be making big bucks….what a family industry.
Funny, I don’t see where BT states that “one of ours” won. The thrust of this is that the GOP’s fortune-tellers are to all appearances full of shit, nothing more or less.
It’s funny when you call the network Faux becaues it looks like it could be pronounced “FOX”, but it actually means false or fake.
The second quote would appear to go with your point. The first bolded by BT does not. It has nothing to do with Palin and Hannity being wrong. Face it they are wrong all the time. The point is that Democrats, i.e. “our” or at least BT’s guys have been winning. This is clear from the post. It is even clearer from a reading of a multitude of BT’s other posts.
Now if only Obama could get off the Republican talking points after realizing, finally, they’ll take him nowhere.
That would be correct. Somehow, every time I make fun of Republicans, I’m shilling for Obama or a tribalist or something.
Palin mentions are the Democrats’ version of Bush raising the terror alerts before elections.
“Look! Scary Palin! Vote Democrat!”
Neither works/worked on me.
Damn, now I want to do something via vote today, also.
“Randslide”? Does this mean she’s done beating “lamestream media” to death?
She does love her annoying little pet phrases, doesn’t she?
Yeah, even when their handpicked, Mitch McConnell-backed candidate loses to a teabagger.
I think you guys missed the fact that Palin didn’t know who Burns’ opponent was. She thought he was running against Arlen Specter!
It just seems pointless. We’ve been in charge of everything for 16 months and it hasn’t meant a thing. Palin and dumb Republicans didn’t have anything to do with it. They win, we win…..what the hell does it matter? I’m past the “Your team is stupid, our team rox” shiat.
Amusing to point and laugh at those on the idiotbox on either so-called “side.” As one commenter said here, though, the GOPers are very good at stating that anything and everything is somehow “good” for the GeeOhPee. Palin is paid very well to spew forth her word salad, so whatever… meh. unsurprising but there it is. dumb and dumber. but the D side ain’t much better, frankly. watching msnbc last night (for the first time in ages) was excruciating. what a bunch of horses’ rear ends they all were… the only thing that was of any “interest” was Howard Fineman admitting that his elderly mother voted for Sestak because she was firmly against the war and wants the USA to stop being at war. That was resoundingly hushed over with lots of nervous laughter by the assorted idiots.
But does she mean Rand Paul or Ayn Rand? Or both?
*facepalm*
Maybe that’s why she totes Piper around – kid is her fact-checker.
(pause)
AHAHAHAHAHA! Palin? Fact-check?
I couldn’t tell whether she thought he was running against Specter, or she was just raising that as an illustration of PA politics. Her word salad is so hard to follow, anything is possible.
I wouldn’t trust her to read my weight off a scale.
It seems so, but it beats the hell out of being a dyspepsiaist.
David Dayen has a fresh cross-post up: Why Are Incumbents Faltering? Check Out The Election Night FinReg Massacre
Dyspepsiaist? Is that the pathetic victim of a cola-induced mutation?
Among the many injuries the english language suffered during that chat, this stood out for me:
“…some limited overreach of the government…”
Wait, what? If it’s “limited”, how can it “overreach”? If I accept for a moment that violation of the rules of Logic & English, does this mean I can infer that Ms. Palin believes the government IS capable of useful action, even if that action is only intended to reduce it’s potential area of utility? At what point does “folksy” become “gobbledygook”?
Btw, just who the hell did shoot the deputy? (auth. note: Bob Marley joke, tho not a good one.)
Absolutely. Now that would be worth cheering for. Some liberal policy from him. But he’s acting like an Arlen Specter DINO.
See, this is what I’m talking about. They’re living in Rasmussen World. I’m not sure where Republicans and their supporters get the idea that they’re immune from any of the anti-Washington sentiment out there, but I can only imagine they keep getting these numbers from Ras saying they’re 5 points ahead on the generic ballot, and Obama’s at 44/53, and they buy into it. They need to reset expectations for the fall, and quick. http://bit.ly/befVVJ
They may as well live in Rasmussen World…it’s what they paid for.
Progressives need clear policy positions. Something more substantial than we follow Obama and the tea party is stupid. Glad FDL is on the case.
Just off the phone with Joe McGinnis, who is back up in Alaska, finishing his book on Palin, which just might finish her off. And Geoffrey Dunn‘s book is being wrapped up. These two books appear to be very weighty, with a fair amount of material not yet out on Palin’s early years.
Do tell!
Keep us posted. I don’t write off Palin’s potential for getting the GOP (or Tea Party??) vote for POTUS. I keep feeling, though, that there’s skeletons rattling in her closet, but not sure if those skeletons are enough to stop her minions from worshipping her. we’ll see.
This woman got a degree in communications/journalism; yet I think she’d fail Tom Tancredo’s literacy test.
Both Dunn and McGinnis have or will be spending a lot of time with people who watched Palin with alarm from the very beginning. McGinnis is hoping to spend several days with John Stein, who was the Wasilla mayor who mentored Palin early on, only to be swept aside by her in October 1996. Apart from stuff like that, I doubt these author’s want much let out yet.
As with most things Palin, it makes no sense whatsoever.
Wait til the Tea Partiers realize that when Rand Paul means smaller government, he also means gutting funding for the troops/defense. Why does he hate freedom and security?
:(
You betcha! I am so looking forward to the extraordinary split that’s going to have to come between the teabaggers and the rest of the repubs who are all as clueless about each other as any other time conservatives leap to something…like Sarah last fall…
Hey, BT, how was your trip?
Where’d you go?
Find out anything interesting about how people there (wherever “there” was) think about ‘Muricans?
I’m afraid nothing anyone can say/publish will shake the faith of Palin’s supporters. It will just be thought of as more lies from the evil socialists.
I think that’s right. She’s a quasi-religious figure to these people.
Oh, rooty-toot-toot, Sarah wasn’t 100%. Critz is a Blue Dog, he won’t be the new Barney Frank. Sarah Palin is brilliant & beautiful. This nation needs her leadership.
I think by “wasn’t 100%” you mean “dead wrong.”
We have always been at war with Eurasia
And it’s actually pronounced “foe”. Which could be really funny if you think about it.
