We didn’t falling into the traps of the right-wing media and stood up to corporate bullies, it’s a great story.

In the movie Trading Places Eddie Murphy’s character said, “If you want to hurt rich people you take away their money.” If you want to hurt right-wing media you take away their advertisers. That’s what we did.

If I was a Fox News or right-wing radio exec this is the session that I would try to sneak into, so I could figure out how to stop us.

I think the other thing that bothers me is that I don’t like be isolated and not combining what I do as Spocko and what I do in real life. I would like to think the NN people would care that I’m also a professional presenter and media guy who has helped some very very high tech professionals tell their story to the press. Companies that are the biggest in the world at what they do. You would recognize their names and their companies. But I didn’t because I’ve kept that separate.
It’s cost me a lot professionally to focus on hurting the right wing media and when I’ve offered to help others learn about it it gets rejected?

First off, thank you for taking the time to submit a panel idea for Netroots Nation 2010. With 350 panel submissions, we had an embarrassment of riches this year.

Unfortunately, we have to decline the panel(s) you submitted. The competition this year was fierce and our committee had an incredibly hard job making tough decisions on great submissions. I wish we could accept them all, but that would require a two-week long convention!

Spocko, I’m so sorry. The $225 isn’t really the issue, either. The expense is in the flight and room/meals. You’d think that people who submit panel ideas along with their expertise would be invited to attend for free. Besides being the right thing to do, it would seem to me to be good PR in terms of say how many attend NN vs. how many attended the tea party convention.

You know what, I don’t want to whine about it. I’m already bummed, I’m going to work on my TAL pitch.

I do the work, I get the results, if the people on our side don’t recognize what I do then fine. I’m sure they will have lots of good panel with exciting policy discussions. I want to remind them that just because the Democrats have the White House doesn’t mean that the RW media went away. They are still out there pushing their crap every day and documenting the atrocities is great, but making them unprofitable hurts them and in some cases reduces their influence and power.

I do think that both Presente and maybe CoC have been asked to speak in other forums. I suppose I should have written a book and demanded people acknowledge when they use “The Spocko Method” (which is NOT a Boycott)
And then collect royalties. (I’ve really got to figure out how to monetize stuff. I think it is because I come from the 24th Century and we don’t do money like you do now.)

My spouse and I were in a very Chinese restaurant and I accidently ordered chicken feet. Everyone seemed intensely interested in the Round Eyes choice. So, I had to eat them. And I’ll never do it again. Cultural cuisine boundaries can’t be crossed on some items. It’s just the food you’re raised with, in my opinion.

Please reiterate to Riki that she is the world’s leading expert on the toxicity of the incredibly toxic dispersant, which Obama’s people seem to be encouraging open use of. Hundreds or more people are going to die from their contact with this stuff. Riki knows it. Nobody is listening.

At Netroots Nation, it’s a situation where the attendees choose which session they want to attend. They’re usually two hour sessions, with five or six sessions to choose from. That’s what the deal is at NN with headliners in the evenings. This year we know Al Franken will be one of the headliners!

In 2007, in Chicago, all the dem prez candidates came and we broke out into which candidate we wanted to hear. I chose Hillary, but a lot of FDLers went to the Edwards breakout. Obama was there, but I don’t know of any FDLers who went to his session.

A good start might be to just google “Riki Ott dispersants.” She has been the only continuous critic of their use. What is most remarkable about their use is that the testing of them has been so woefully shortsighted in analysis of pros & cons.

I’m curious, too, about the effect of the fumes on the people. Haven’t seen anything at all on that.

Yeah, PayPal’s a problem. We can overcome that with a bit of planning. Even a snail mail address and a small campaign. We’re not talking huge amounts of cash. Travel,room and meals, taxi service or other transportation when there.

According to Riki’s assistant, who I spoke to Friday, people doing cleanup are complaining that BP is spraying dispersant in many unauthorized area, spraying at night. This is illegal. Moreover, people working the spill, picking up oil-soaked debris, sea vegetables and dead or injured wildlife, are suffering blistered arms, faces and upper torsos. From what we learned in EVOS, this is more likely from the dispersant than from the oil itself. This will happen more and more often in the coming days, weeks, months, years and decades.

I think they’ll be hiding all that info, or, if they’re lucky, there’ll be no info. No scientific studies, no harming information.
