Aloha, ES…!
Hurray! hurray! the first of May..
Lei Day in Hawaii…! ;-)
Good evening..)
Whoa…
That M.I.A. piece is amazing.
Rabid lambs have a new move.
Surfing sheep
LOL!
Two hours yet, for our day!
;-)
Everone get’s Lei’d?
Like wabbits?
Dolly Goes Hawaiian?
Love them steel git licks!
Ah LUVS me the sound of a pedal steel, sohn, ah sayh sohn.
*G*
Isn’t it though. Powerful.. even more so once i read the ny daily news link about the background of M.I.A. and her family.
That was fun.
LOL I laughed loudest when it brayed while surfing. I don’t know why…)
Whoa!
*searching madly for my red head and freckle pics of my youth*
ES I’d recently seen that MIA piece.
I dunna, I’d go all broadcast/film school on why I didn’t like it.
I don’t really like it, cuz it’s message is weak and the production don’t carry the message.
It’s a valiant attempt for the message it entails, but it fails.
For me.
There’s more, but hey, I loved the pedal steel in the first vid!
(insert CT’s comment about me and fleece and such)
*G*
hiya ES & Pups. It may be the first of may but it’s not quite sky-clad weather yet in minnesnowta.
Ok, so what’s that all about? Redheads targeted?
Tell us more, hoss . . . I know nothing of what you speak of.
You big sheep dip – the message is totally clear.
Lean a bit closer, and I’ll whisper it in yer tender ear, ya big mook.
Picture Veal Pen Surfing, out of their element/
Stop The Bleating, Stop The Bleating!
*G*
That is some bio.
Keep yer tongue outta my ear, and lissen up.
I’ll tear that one up production value wise, script wise, over and under and sideways and down again.
We disagree.
*G*
Got food?
LOL!
It’s very difficult to watch…
So, is any Pupper gonna share the background on this piece of film I don’t like?
Or are all y’all gonna sit on yer snooty perches and withhold info from the rest of us.
*G*
Happy May Day!
Hey ndfg, ES and pups.
I hear Arkansas is getting hit with tornadoes….ES, you stay safe, hear?
I used that line earlier today on one of Mz. Hamsher’s threads.
Picture someone trying to sleep, and yet, the veal pen cries and we can’t stop the bleating, etc.
I dunna, I had something else, forget what it was. Funny, tho.
Thanks for the courtesy laff!
;-)
I just post them.. know as much as you do now.
That said, I think the red heads could be a metaphor for any singled out, minority group.
Hiya ndfg..)
NDFG!
How ya doin!
CA is clearing out, likely the beginning here in Sacto, to the march of the 100′s.
Sigh.
Best wishes to you, eyes, and critters!
A lot of background here.
EW said her rhubarb was going gangbusters and that she was making a PIE!
Hi Margot. We are? I had no idea. Some little thunder boomers in the area, but nothing threatening in my corner of the State.
Clik the link just before “nsfw”
edit: you don’t have to like the video! there’s still a message.
Yeah, that’s a given . . . . thought you said something about something, with more background on MIA, a woman, and her family?
Thanks, so MIA is some women rap artist?
And general artist?
And does video/film production for her art?
I call it lame.
We did better in jr. college and upper division college studio projects, with clearer and better messaging.
That was, KELLY, in the 70′s and 80′s.
*G*
It was indeed. I am not one who watches violent movies and such, or even violent sports like football or boxing or hockey… but the work was so strong to me on this one.. and clearly meant to speak volumes politically.
The fact youtube and her own record company censored/pulled it after the fact added to the controversy no doubt.
love it!
Ahhh, food. Healing feeling.
Rhubarb, sugar, lemon, a good crust.
Yummers!!!!
That is cool and amazing…sheep like it dry!
*ignores LaRue*
Yep.
I saw as well — scary out there!
“sky-clad” lol!
ZOMG – David Gilmour and Roger Waters must be so laughing/freaking out by that! Hah!
Hiya All! Beautiful day here in Ohio. Warm sunny weather, and spring has sprung, finally.
Ok, did so.
I had seen a version without the little girl being blown out aka Viet Style.
Even with that, I got problems with it all, production wise, quality wise.
The violence don’t bother me, the message is simplistic.
Weak piece of art in my mind.
But hey, that’s me, and I’m highly opinionated and admit it.
*G*
Thanks for pointing me to that link, it helps to understand where this came from and why.
Just enough breeze to keep the scald off.
The Bay Area, too.
Hey, at yer own free FDL will!
*G*
Nice Loo Hoo. We used to make/have may baskets when we were kids. Was a pretty big deal. Anybody do that now?
YUMMM! The house i bought is .21 acres, and in the back 40 is a little plot with a half dozen or so rhubarb plants. They’re not quite far enough along to harvest any yet, it’s a spot that’s too shady. I’ll move ‘em later this summer into the sun. My daughter and i are eagerly planning rhubarb streusel muffins.
I am missing the sea, or the bay.
Yanno what Teddy says about May Day?
Clever bastard.
Hey, CE! Glad you had a beautiful day. Spring is wonderful.
Here you go, ES:
http://www.todaysthv.com/news/news.aspx?storyid=103834
I taunt you, and you are at my mercy!
Ain’t gonna see Darryl Gates tomorrow. He’s dead.
But I will be on the streets of LA. Join us!
OMG it was wonderful to open all the windows, remove the snow shovel from the back door, and buy flowers to plant in window boxes and pots on the steps.
We did that as kids too. It was really fun. Ring the doorbell and run, but I can’t remember what happened if the neighbor kids caught us…
[Mind your manners, K]
Hat tip, ladies, NDFG, Loo Hoo, CE. Evening!
[Who'd I miss? Sorry...]
Now that is naughty! First of May is Worker Day in France — everyone buys lily of the valley, or, muguet de bois.
I’m loving the Martha Washington geraniums these days. Lots of color with very little work!
I remember doing that in kindergarten, maybe 1st grade. They sure didn’t do it when my kids were little.
I was not curious. Killing is not my cup of tea…whether creative or not so I passed on most as I jumped through using the time bar. Star worship is not one of my strong suites. Some Nam movies were informative but i missed the info on this one, my dumb.
Evening to you, Kelly! Are you home or trapsing about?
Doesn’t bug me one bit whose muguet gets bois’ed. *g*
I know that message, I lived that message all my life, as a child in SE Asia, as a child in USA, as a teen, as a young adult, as I grow older.
And I’ve done, and seen, folks work that message.
I just don’t like this version.
And the message deserves better.
MIA is NOT a hero of our times, I don’t think, like we had in the 60′s.
Peter Tosh? Grandmaster Flash? Others who lost their lives for their art and politicization of their times?>
Yeah, heroes.
MIA?
Uh, not so much to me. Not yet, from what I’ve read.
I bought geraniums too! White for the dark blue pots and pink for the terracotta. Need to buy much, much more to fend off six months of winter!
Heathens!
*G*
Clever, too.
*admits*
heh
Oh my. What a mess… good thing it wasn’t in a populated area. I know that county very well.
Glad you posted it.
You don’t, I’m not, and stop spreading junior high school gossip.
Or I’ll tell them about your natural hair, and it’s color.
Ok, I changed my mind, you do, I am and I know nothing about your hair.
But yer still killin me . . .
*G*
You don’t have to die to make a point. Sheesh.
The message is about rounding up others to kill ‘em.
I love lilly of the valley. *reminds self to check my bed of LOV in the morning.
Here is what I remember about May 1. I saw the Deer Hunter in Paris on May 1, 1979. I know that the film is considered fake in some ways, but all I can say is that the entire audience was in tears. It was very, very moving.
I shall taunt you again, and AGAIN!
evening, ES, firegods
Isn’t First Of May the Labor/Socialist Day, too?
Good evening, PPDCUS!
Oh, yes, same thing — WORKERS of the World, Unite!
is it a gay thang? One of my friends who is, used to call a bunch of us on the first of may and yell that into the phone. ‘Course, it is a bit of a joke in minnesnowta as the skeeters will get you if the frostbite doesn’t.
Home, for now. The trapsing about starts next week and through the following week. Chicago and then Portland.
Pity them, for I’m Cthulu and will eat their souls.
Ok fine. I’m worn down about telling why I think it’s a lame production.
And I never fired all my guns at once into space, either.
You win.
Gimme some food, ya hoser.
We’re trying to figure out what to put on our signs for tomorrow’s rally in the Fruitvale in Oakland and that is what we keep coming back to. Simple, classic. Haven’t been to a good rally in a long while, I am really looking forward to it.
Well, it might be, but doesn’t have to be.
*taunts you – do it OUTSIDE!*
Say it loud, and say it proud: Workers of the World, Unite!
I have some beautiful nasturtiums for whatever lame salad you might plate for some unwilling victim.
Word!
Evening PPDCUS.
In E.S. first of May is always the White Street walk… which includes parades and open artist homes and galleries throughout town. Kicks off a month celebrating the arts here.
I sure hope it doesn’t storm too much.
skeeters, as in Minnesota’s state bird?
evening, CE
I used to live across from Sweetbriar College…they had a May Pole celebration and so in USSR when it was.
Oh, I love lily-of the-valley too. Too warm to grow them here, though. What a wonderful fragrance!
Yes, yes you shall.
And I’ll be taunted.
And sometimes, I’ll bite back.
And sometimes, I’ll just smile and laff.
And sometimes, I’ll taunt you.
Life is good In The Lake, and it would be less good if you weren’t who you are, and I wasn’t who I was.
At a stove, with pans and burners, a hard wood grill, I’ll singe yer ass dish by dish, steak by steak, fish by fish, poulet by poulet.
Still.
And do it all from scratch.
*G*
Have fun.. take photos and share in a diary with us if you can.
May 1st is immigration march day…
Hey, lovey first warm night and I am up way too late (and loving it after a half day of incarceration in a hotel conference).
Salad? You wanna talk SALAD!?!?!?!?
Edible flowers?
Please . . . . *harumph*
I would love to see your signs — please try to post photos!
Thanks, that’s always been MY reality of May Day.
My pops was a bit liberal in telling me about that, he was a union guy in the ’30′s.
*G*
There’s a demonstration gig at our capitol tomorrow; I’d just as soon go, but I’m paying close attention to Mr. B. He had a bite from the diverticulitis bug, and needs a bit of coddling.
CaliMexia Forever!
CE – did you son get home safely?
Ahh, a new designation for USA . . . thanks, I’d seen that, but forgot it.
Can we let AZ and TX revert to Mexico, given what they are doing to our constitution?
Heh, lemme see them white bigot fucks cope with THAT shit! HAH!
(no offenses to our bro/sis libs/progs in either state)
I’ve never done a diary — but this is a perfect way to start. We just moved back here from Arizona and this rally will be a cleansing experience. Can’t wait to share it!
young man, at my age it’s hard enough to find someone to do it with, let alone outside.
Kelly,
Get out that chinois and keep it handy!
That’s way too big of a burden for Mexico.
Oh, come on! Get a little jiggy!
Perry said today that Texas won’t do what AZ did…maybe it was too weak for a state considering leaving the union?
Yes, he did, after some days in Brussels trying to work on a French keyboard that has very different keys (oh, those pesky vowels in different places). He did have a great time, but was glad to be home due to finances.
Zing!
Look forward to it, carol.
Aw man, best to him, you and take care of him, as you are.
Best to him, and you.
You two have been thru a lot lately.
Be well, both of yas. We needs ya.
Hi Chris, I’ll celebrate that!
Congrats on grabbing the 100!
Even in comments, we would love to hear/see it.
THAT’S a reply for the ages.
Nice spanky, NDFG!!!!
*G*
I’ll do a diary. I’m a writer, I need to take the plunge.
Yeh, would be rude and mean of us, wouldn’t it?
But THEY know how to handle that shit.
*G*
Do I detect a bit of Snark?
*G*
AZ far surpassed TX Board Of Ed.
Frightening.
Damn! On Microsoft machines, one can change the “language pack” of the keyboard. This is how I toggle back and forth.
Strain, baby, strain!
That would be wonderful!
*groan*
heh, it’d have to be a solo expedition.
“sorry”
Ok, from the divurticula to the chinois, to this?
It’s a new level of filtering from you I’ve not seen . . .
Brilliant!
Well I must turn in… it’s going to be an ARTrageous day tomorrow.
Good night fabulous firedogs.
I, . . . uh, nuttin, never mine . . . ;-)
So what? It would be at least you, the earth and the sky anyways!
It’s just after midnight here, and I’m thinking about taking my own advice!
I’m not a writer, but I’ve been trying to blog at work. I hoped to post it here, but it seems that we are “under construction” right now (see what happens when one goes to a conference…). Anyway, I’ll try later. Please write!
Best to you hoss and thanks for all you do for us peons who follow LLN.
*G*
That’s right loo hoo. I’d forgotten about hanging them on the doorhandles, ringing and running. Not sure what it meant, but remember my mom preparing a tray of those little ruffled crepe paper “easter” baskets… with gum drops I think.
I’ve not seen that kind of basket in years and don’t remember the custom past 3rd or 4th grade. We moved. Wonder if it was a regional thing.
ES, have a great art day!
Ciao, bello.
Night, ES. I’m konking too.
I was in Northern Minnesota. It was a chase game of some sort…
See ya, Loo Hoo
no, it would be me, the earth, the sky, and clouds of mosquitos. But g’wan with ya, we’ll be here when you get back.
Cooking background, thanks luv!
Touche’!
Good to know yer in good hands.
Blessings, and best again to Belch and you.
You guys deserve some breaks here . . .
Yer a mooker, I lubs ya like a brother.
And yer funny.
You got that going for ya.
*G*
Nite awl, I got a be up at 5am for a jam band performance at a half marathon in the morning.
We start picking at 7:45am.
I’m not a musician, but I AM a night owl.
If this don’t kill me, it might waken up latent memory of being up at 4am for 5am radio shifts.
I don’t NEED that body clocking, thank ya!
*G*
Best to all pups. And extra blessings to the Gulf.
They gonna need it.
I promise I will.
Me out too. Lurves y’all.
Be well all!
Since we’re thinking about the Gulf tonight, I recommend listening to Hurricane Season by Trombone Shorty from NOLA. I can’t find a link but it’s on iTunes. Pure funky bliss.
night all – be well
‘nite eureka. Thank you.
An Arizona deputy shot by suspected illegal immigrants smuggling marijuana – this kinda ties together all the day’s topics, doesn’t it.
WOW how gritty union despite police power.
Appears it’s left over pagan stuff. This article suggests the running away was about anonymity. That strikes a chord here.
nite all. Celebrate!
See you all tomorrow. Be well!
PRESIDENT OBAMA has been caught in a shocking cheating scandal after being caught in a Washington, DC Hotel with a former campaign aide, sources say.
And now, a hush-hush security video that shows everything could topple both Obama’s presidency and marriage to Michelle!
A confidential investigation has learned that Obama first became close to gorgeous 35 year-old VERA BAKER in 2004 when she worked tirelessly to get him elected to the US Senate, raising millions in campaign contributions.

Has this been discussed here?
Good morning, pups. It’s just Collins and Blow, since Mr. Herbert is off today. Ms. Collins, in “Teachers Always Show Up,” says teachers — good citizens who are constantly worried about what the government will do to them next — win the political participation prize. Mr. Blow addresses “Abortion’s New Battle Lines,” and says legislative changes in several states — combined with less fervent support for abortion rights — could prove to be a new challenge for Roe v. Wade.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got yeast waffles for breakfast, with warm maple syrup. Yesterday’s errands took longer than anticipated (don’t they always?) so today’s the day when the garden work (and other work) will get done. Have a great day.
Good morning all.
Hi Marion. My 23 bare roots trees got delivered from Arbor Day yesterday, so I’ve got to get cracking planting them today. However, on Thursday I moved gigantic pieces of dead elm to the wood shed, which will be split for firewood next winter. As a result, my back is killing me. Hope I can get it limbered up enough to get the task done today.
First I’ve heard it. Since when does POTUS get shuttled around by private limo drivers?
Did you really click on a National Enquirer link?
guilty.
