tis a dark and rainy nite — has been rainy and blustery since i woke up monday.

i’ve spent the last couple of days doing nothing and enjoying it. been sleeping an incredible amount so i musta needed it.

tomorrow i plan to do some exploring now that the majority of the storm is over. no worries about being blown off the deck trying to walk down the stairs to the car.

A disturbing development in the Terry Childs case – even more disturbing than his conviction:

The jury deliberated for several days before a lone holdout against conviction was removed from the panel, for reasons that were not disclosed. After an alternate was put in that juror’s place, the panel started over and reached a decision in a matter of hours.

So now if there’s a juror who’s convinced of your innocence, the government can simply replace them.

I guess that’s the new definition of “jury nullification.”

BL Market is within walking distance for me.

that market spoiled me for any other grocery store. i’ve not found such high quality meat and veggies since i moved away.

It is a good market for certain. Kind of surprising, while BL sort of counts as a bedroom community for Silicon Valley, well the markets over the hill aren’t inaccessible and you’d think that it couldn’t compete.

Corralitos market also as really good meats. Although BL Market is making sausage on premise these days and they are doing a good job of it.

i love corralitos sausage — used to stop by there and stock up on goodies when i used to go camping up off eureka canyon road — before i bought the place in b/c. not many places have a real old fashion meat counter with butchers wanting to help ya. i’ve yet to see heirloom tomatoes anywhere up here either — guess i’ll have to go to the farmer’s market when it starts up in june to find fresh local products.

A large part of the Silverlight package are very strict anti-piracy measures. It could be that NetFlix is on board and the Silverlight suite is mandatory.

I use Safari almost exclusively, but I don’t have NetFlix. No experience to offer.

The ballooning resident set for firefox says there’s a memory leak. Chronology of problem points to silverlight not playing well with Firefox on MacOS.

I may be backing out the silverlight “upgrade” I did this weekend.

I run top in a terminal window as a matter of course – fire up a terminal window at log in and run top (primary key of RSS, as I like to see memory usage as a second order metric for system performance, load average being first order)

The change in RSS for firefox is just horrendous when it’s using silverlight. also seems to have spawned a few extra threads – yup, I closed the netflix tab and 9 treads caught TERM or HUP signals.
