Early Show: Gutbucket Slim “Beef”
Late Show: The Golden Filter “Thunderbird”
What’s on your mind mind tonight?
Zhed?
Poodles!
Hiya!
Hi Chris
ES, this is the rough stuff. A little chilling.
Poodles?
Heh.
Billie Jo Shaver, Thunderbird!
When The Word Was Thunderbird!
Newt, tough is the stuff of our life.
And on it goes, hoss.
Same song, same dance.
We live, or we die.
We fight.
OR we cry.
Nuttin new, hoss . . .*G*
As Christine said.
“I’m On My Way.”
*G*
Blessin ya, hoss . . . ;-)
Like The Golden Filter a lot.
hey ES & Pups!
Soft rain tonight in minnesnowta, which we need. It smells lovely outside … a lovely blend of pine, appleblossom, and lilac.
I made biscuits tonite, with southern starters, and yanqui herbs n seasonings.
Still smells good here!
We had rains a few days, always smells good here when it rains, I hear ya.
*G*
hey new deal
we’re getting some rain here too, but can’t compete with the fragrance.
how is the eye?
Hi folks:
the fragrance is divine. It won’t last long tho, the apple blossoms are already starting to drift off the trees.
Eye is maintaining … i’m looking forward to the followup surgery which will, i hope, restore my vision completely.
I don’t think it’s good music, but it’s without a doubt the best photo montage of Mz. Perfect/McVie I’ve seen.
Lord, She’s Lovely And SO Talented.
One of my fav rock sangers of all time.
Still.
Her baritone and husky tones just are and were stupendous.
And you, for reminding me that I had ‘Perfect’ in my collection – it’s been in my car’s CD player all week. It completely slipped my mind until the other night.
Thanks.
Why do liars on the right end up with book contracts?
hey ndfg, I feel for you. Very glad to hear it’s holding up.
Evening, firegods
Hey, Larue.
Aside from I’d Rather Go Blind, Go My Own Way was a killer cut.
It was and is, a great project to have, if one is into the legends of Brit Rock, from pre Beatles, and such.
I’m now trippin all over ‘Sands Of Time’, ‘Future Games’ and many other Fleetwood Mac greats.,
Sigh.
*G*
You have my offers, btw. ;-)
Because there’s a vast audience for, as someone once called it, “false arenas of heroics’, that sells. When is the (purported) writer not a hero, a tortured genius, or a saint who is forced to crawl around down here with the peasants? Or all 3?
Petro!
*bows*
You’ve heard that a prophet has no honor in his own land?
Replace prophet with “truthteller” or “honest reporter” and you have our present condition.
So many good wills from us to you ma’am . . . be well soon please.
The Texas Connection stuff sounds interesting.
Sands Of Time
Turn it up, to eleventy.
Work with it.
Magic then, and now.
LeSigh.
why do all the liars on the right end up with book contracts? The only reasonable explanation i can come up with is it’s a vast conspiracy.
*G*
Dvd’s . . . keep you deep and troubled for hours.
Send data, data.
*G*
LOL!
I know that waiting game.
Cumin!
Another Why I Like Old Fleetwood Mac!
Jeremy Spencer Slides!
Sometimes the headline says it all…
I knew the old Mac before the new came in, in the mid-70′s.
If Lindsey Buckingham could not write and really, really play, there would have been no forgiveness at all.
Yeah, I love old FleetWood Mac.
Sigh.
Go run that table if you’ve not known who they were, or what their music was.
Or just ask me, Larue.
I’ll tawk all night about them/
*G*
Yeah, but wouldn’t you give anything to witness that?
Not really, too much fundie love for my tastes…!
Besides, I’m sure Faux Spew will air it live…! ;-)
Agreed.
Mac was going thru changes, Kirwin was gone, Spencer was gone, core was lost.
And along came two kids from Woodside, CA (just outside of where I lived at the time) and got auditioned.
And the band took took off with huge money.
I prefer the old Mac, to this day.
*G*
And mostly because of Christine’s husky voicings, and songs. But I can’t dismiss Peter Green, Jermey Spencer, and Danny Kirwin. Them, and Christine, for me, are the Mac.
They are the Mac.
*G*
I’d be interested to know how much writing Bob Welsh contributed. I always thought they would have been better off without ever having gone there, but if he wrote… I don’t think he could play.
Indubitably…! ;-)
Well hello there!
And then there’s a hero, Annie.
Got Poodle?
*G*
Would I Lie To You Honey?
*G*
My sister in law just told me the craziest thing about a branch of belch’s family.
The English branch was here quite early, and several were branded WITCHES in Salem! 2 hung, 1 pressed to death. Evidently was impetus for the rest of that family to move West!
Despite my Schnauzer cut, I am actually a poodle!
T minus one week and counting until the end of Bill Moyers Journal on PBS.
All we’ll have left is TDS, Colbert Report & FDL.
first reaction: “Put that thing away!”
after a moment, “Great track!”
I will miss Moyers…! 8-(
Contemplating Bill Moyer’s retirement gives me a sad.
Bill Black and Michael Copps on tonight. I can’t wait for the vidcast.
Actually, Welch was great.
He WAS Future Games, and the next album.
His songs were the last three albums before Buckinhama and Nicks joined.
Welch was good on a few projects. He and Kirwin on Future Games and Sands Of Time might be the best music The Mac ever did.
By the time of ‘Hypnotized’, the last album of Mac before Lindsey and Stevie Nookie, the band was shot.
But Mystery To Me was STILL a great album, with Bob Welch, Bob Weston, fronting great songs and great gits, as the Mac of Mic, John, and Christine behind them carried the ball.
Doh, YEAH!!! *G*
*histhroatclenches*
Um, thanks, Kelly!
;-)
belch is a WITCH!
Welch wrote a ton!
As I know it, Future Games and Heroes, and Bare Trees and Mystery To Me were filled with his songs.
And Kirwin’s.
I loved Kirwin’s guitar licks . . . still do.
Just finished airing in the PDT zone.
Moyers, Chomsky, Studs Terkel.
And more.
We lose them.
We lose their voices, their influences.
Here or gone, damn I miss them.
Yeah, Comcast is screwing things up large time here. But the iTunes vidcast arrived a few minutes ago.
What you and CT said.
LeSigh.
Coming up shortly here in the Isles…! Now is on right now…!
Where the hell is ES? I’m thinking he’s AWOL!
I am a camp friend and such of a women, who’s a witch.,
Love her dearly and her beliefs.
She’s spot on.
Wiccan’s are our friends.
One of my fav Mac Tunes, Bare Trees, ’72 or so.
Spare Me A Little
Christine. Heart out to us all. Sanging it.
*G*
You silly man. belch is NOT a witch. He’s just very silly. It’s like living with the “Cat in the Hat” but he’s just fine.
Ya missed my point.
Wiccan’s and such, are wonderful people.
As you two are.
Shut up and take the compliment, ya putz.
*G*
OK, I want to ask if anyone else has had this experience.
Yesterday I was checking in for my flight home from O’Hare. The United kiosk said “The Dept. Of Homeland security requires further information.” And it went on to ask me DOB, middle name, gender to match my ID.
Then the weird part was it said I had “redress” with the Department of Homeland Security, and to enter a number….?
I was all “WTF does THAT mean?” I just left it blank and hit “Continue” and it spat out my boarding pass.
Anyone have that experience too, or know what the hell that even means?
*drive by*
i think it meant someone in homeland security thinks you are a hottie and wanted to see ya nekkid
Heh – their webcam should have figured that out for them, and let me pass!
I once won Bill Moyers in a poetry contest.
Ok, it wasn’t me. It was the entire town of Sonoma and it was for winning the National Poetry Contest. We even beat out the New York Public Library. The prize was Bill Moyers. And I got to meet him and his wife (who is his producer). They stayed at a friend’s bed and breakfast. My friend is from Texas so they have a lot in common as liberal Texans and became friends.
Mr. Moyers spoke at the high school gym. It was great.
Best. Drive. By. Evah.
*G*
He should wilt in your posits . . .
*G*
Swoon, sorta.
Hey Suz!
Hi Mary! Howsit!
Ok, I gotta run . . . nite all you LLN Puppers N Mods!
Be well, pick it, cook it, listen to it, drive it.
Yer awl killin me.
*G*
*poof*
Good. We figured out how to make our first “modified” house payment. I am sending out resumes like mad. I applied for two jobs that are pretty interesting. But then I watched a documentary on all the teachers who were just laid off in CA and I realized that those people are way ahead of me in the line to get those jobs. Made me feel better since I have had no responses. Feeling better in the sense that it ain’t me not being able to find a job, it is everybody.
Not sure I am making sense tonight.
You’re making sense Mary.
Articulating to yourself and others about how/why the deck is stacked, and where you are in the resulting queue makes total sense.
Doesn’t make it suck less, GODDAMMIT!
I just need to make $500 or so a month. GODDAMMIT!
Oh man…
I’m a bit out the loop with you; you and Ron were fixing to move, right? Have you been able to yet?
Hi, Kelly, and y’all., Was just skimming on my way to shuttding down and going to bed –
I think “redress” is the TSA/Homeland Security’s way of saying if you’re on a no-fly list and think you shouldn’t be, you have redress for the wrong you’re experiencing.
IOW, it’s how you protest your ‘bad’ status.
But it sounds like you got on the plane, no? So you probably don’t really need “redress.”
[on edit] re-read – I don’t know what number you should enter. Maybe if you had already followed the procedures for “redress” you’d have gotten a number to enter on such occasions.
OTOH, maybe this is your punishment for coming clean months ago and posting to fdl under your real name. ; )
We at this moment in time are staying in the house. We will go when we can’t make the payments again. With critters (2dogs and 1 very big cat) it is so hard to find a rental. I have moved too many times:Knoxville, Memphis, SF, Biloxi, SF, Bloomsburg, Modesto, Los Osos, Sonoma, Novato, Sacramento. Too fucking much. Plus home-stasis has set in.
Hi, Mary. Didn’t realize you had decided to stay put.
There’s a pun in that list line, isn’t there? Can’t remember the definition and am too sleepy to look it up.
Weather report – it’s raining – again. Tornado watches west of here, flash flood warnings. Not likely to flood where I live now – I so like having moved from the low, flood plain sides of town to the “heights.” No water has come in under my doors yet here.
Yep. It was a pun.
Supposed to rain here this week. Been fairly wet this year for NorCal.
Well, Mary, good luck job-hunting.
My job that began last week is in limbo – long story and very vague.
But, I seem to be in the running for another – have to take a couple of tests – spent the p.m. calling back and forth to the employment svc rep who was trying to send me the first test. Never got it, and it’s timed, so we’ll have to try again Monday.
I was offered another project right after I accepted the one currently in limbo. So already, this about triples the offers and possibles for this year as coompared to all last year. This must mean things are looking up for finding a job.
Hope it turns out that way for you.
And now I’m off to sleep for realz.
My biggest problem in finding a job is that I have worked for myself forever. I stayed away from the corporate structure. And if people saw how I worked they would scratch their heads. Some things take me five times longer than other people. I am sort of dyslexic. I think I do good work but it doesn’t come easy. I have an artist’s brain.
I cannot remember what you do.
I think I need to go to bed. Love to everyone.
Good morning, pups. Both Mr. Blow and Mr. Herbert are off today, so Ms. Collins is flying solo with “Running on Empty,” in which she says that election season has started in earnest, and one thing is crystal clear. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are hopeless.
Here she is.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got waffles with warm maple syrup. If you’re not that into maple syrup you might try the strawberries that were macerated with sugar and fresh sage from the garden. (Sounds weird, but it’s really delicious. You discard the sage, but it gives a lovely subtle flavor to the juices.) Have a great day.
Thanks Marion.
That hint of sage with strawberries sounds interesting. I’ll give it a try sometime. I’m thinking pancakes for Sunday brunch. Got to use up all that fruit puree in my freezer.
Migrate on over to Pull Up a Chair, it’s lonely over there….
