The Quitter teamed with up Michele Bachmann yesterday in Minnesota yesterday and drew a crowd of 10,000 Teabaggers. Chris Bowers thinks that means the Quitter is going to be the GOP’s nominee if she wants it, but I don’t think she does. Too much work.
We might just find out tomorrow, when she speaks at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.
Anyway, back to the Quitter-Bachmann rally…
The rally was a lively assault on Democrats in Congress and the White House. The emcee, talk radio host Chris Baker, drew cheers and laughter when he said the party in power in Washington is a “lying, thieving . . . bunch of commies.”
…
Many in the audience wore buttons with side-by-side images of Palin and Bachmann. One man’s a sweatshirt had an image of Mount Rushmore and the words “Right Wing Extremist: Guess I’m in Good Company.”
…
Betty Soban, an admiring constituent of Bachmann’s, said: “My family left Germany because of Hitler and socialized medicine. I see it happening here.” Important to her, she said, are “freedom of ownership. Freedom of our guns. Freedom of having babies.“
It’s Palin’s party, for sure.

Bachmann babbling live on cnn right now
or klavern as we like to call it
love that pic !!!
Actually, I think “Southern Republican” is pretty much redundant at this point.
Freedom of having babies? WTF? She must mean freedom to force others to bear children.
Of course that’s what she means.
You’re not expecting teabaggers to use language all literally and shit are ya?
Can’t you just picture a Palin-Bachmann ticket? The debates would be moderated by Sean Hannity, and Sarah would wink at the camera. If they won the scariest part would be that Sarah might quit, leaving the presidency to Michelle.
Seems so.
You’re an obvious exception though, so there must be others.
I’m in a southern state too.
And we’ve got a wingnut Guvna that woulda fit right in the the Bachmann/Palin overdrive. Dude’s off the wall batshit crazy.
But you knew that. You had a post about him yesterday.
Boy that’s a hard one.
The scariest part might be if she didn’t quit…..
WOW, dunno.
Close call there.
“Freedom to have babies” is so far down the rabbit hole that I’m having comprehension problems.
What, exactly, has been done to prevent that woman from having children. What has been done to prevent any woman from having children?
Lashrew and Squirrelly – minus the minor spelling issue (pesky auto-spellchecker) the poster maker is a genius.
They’re both scary, but I think Bachmann’s a lot crazier. And considering how nutty our politics have been lately I wouldn’t rule it out.
That way lies madness. You must not try to understand. Will turn your brain to yogurt.
I couldn’t tell ya.
Like I said, you were right. She meant freedom to force others to have babies.
I can’t think of anything done to keep folks from having babies.
Well, unless by denying them health care that means they are denying them a chance to have babies.
Dunno, but I’ve got a feeling that lady that said that is just fine with the whole denying health care thing.
So I don’t have a clue.
I suspect she doesn’t either.
I don’t think Palin will be the nominee either. The Rethug power brokers know that if Palin is on top of the ticket in 2012, the Democrats will have their biggest landslide victory since LBJ clobbered Goldwater in 1964.
Some people think it’s more important to have “Freedom of having babies”, and some think it’s more important to have “Freedom from having babies”.
Pawlenty pwned them
Tim Pawlenty Finds A Way To Co-Opt Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin Rally
The Hitler thing or the socialized medicine thing. Maybe Hitler will have introduced socialized medicine in the next revision of Texas history books instead of VW bugs.
“Freedom of having babies”? What does that even mean? I look at rallies like this and walk around the streets of NYC every day — both make me want to do everything I can to restrict people “of having babies”.
It’s just a wed dream.
MMMMmmmmmm…yogurt.
But remember, she’s NOT an extremist! Or nutty! No no no no, can’t say that about her and keep your job in the local media!
Are you serious?
Some local media type get fired for calling her nutty? Or an extremist??
You beat me to it.
Click on the links. There’s been a media blackout WRT her nuttiness for over ten years now.
She really screwed up the Rs with her anti-census babble. They seem to be in sort of a panic over it.
The only way the ReThugs will put up a Palin/Bachman ticket is if they see no chance of beating Obama in ’12.
the Quitter is going to be the GOP’s nominee if she wants it, but I don’t think she does. Too much work.
Wait a minute. All she has to do is get her daily briefings from Jesus, yell, “drill baby drill,” and then push that little red button. How hard can it be?
yeah, she clearly didn’t think that through
will be soo funny if it’s her district that gets cut.
Good. Chicks are aroostin’.
ps did you know you were mentioned on HuffPo yesterday, Arianna talking about current economic situation, their newsletter featured the pic of you and Ron
LOL same here.
And I didn’t know der fuhrer offered socialized medicine…
Is there a shrew equivalent for aroostin’?
Well, if nothing else, these two prove that female politicians can be every bit as mendacious, manipulative, sociopathic and evil as male politicians can be. It’s like they’re stabbing us in the eyes with shards of the Glass Ceiling!
I don’t know…they really like crazy. McCain gave BHO a run for his money.
Mengele worked for the state…
these folks have no self awareness at all.
That was funny.
Ahh…I thought he was a dentist? I could be wrong.
If I’m wrong and insist I’m right, I could vote for these knuckleheads.
OT (but on the direction of D’s):
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/08/power-struggle-inside-the_n_529884.html
Since 1995, members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus have collectively given $6.3 million directly to members of the Blue Dog and New Democrat coalitions, according to an analysis by the Huffington Post of data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics. That’s not an overwhelming sum when the average winning campaign nowadays costs more than $1 million, but it represents one-sixth of all giving from one faction within the party to another. It doesn’t include the millions that progressives have given to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee — rank-and-file members are supposed to cough up $150,000 every two years (though many miss that mark), committee chairmen $250,000 and up. The DCCC turns around and funnels that money to conservative Democrats in close races.
…
That with this post shows how sucky the R’s (depraved and don’t care) have to be so that people will consider the D’s (clinging to the pony show, hiding some depravity still).
Just went to google that, but the first thing I saw was about torturing children, so I’ll happily take your word for it. I assumed he was a doctor.
President Caribou Barbie, Vice President Batshit Barbie…. I’m moving to Mars.
Take a look at one of the MSNB shows last night – apparently Bachmann has said something to the effect of “I am a foreign correspondent in DC, I am behind enemy lines”. A quote like that blows away most of her other Micky Mouse stupidity.
Playing dumb is one thing, playing with revolution is another.
Guess they still think that the phrase “National Socialist” was for something other than PR purposes. The Democratic Republic of (North) Korea must really blow their minds.
Doctorates in anthropology and medicine.
he was a torture A[nthro]pologist …
*with due apologies to Punaise*
How effective is Michelle’s anti Census campaign will her state lose a seat? Given expected gains in Dark People populations is Michelle trying to question the legitimacy of the Census and any change to lessen the number of White Voting Districts?
Is Michelle trying to start a race war using the Census as a Causa Belli
If she loses her seat then her campaign can be considered a great success.
I stand corrected. the dentist character in Marathon Man was based on mengele, which is probably why I’m confused.
open wide!
you and SD are correct. I am wrong. I guess I can’t join the tea party now. since I admitted I am wrong and misinformed.
She will declare Obama was out to silence her she will declare the results were fixed even if her state was going to lose a seat without her campaign.
The GOP knows the numbers on the Census will hurt them. They need GOP Governors and State Legislatures to control the damage and shape voting districts their way.
Michelle is the back up plan if they don’t do well in the november elections the GOP will declare the results were fixed and we can expect another Brooks Brothers riot.
Minnesota’s on the bubble, but if more wingnuts refuse in Texas than in Minnesota, her seat may be spared.
What happens should Minnesota be ordered to cough up a seat depends largely on whether a Republican is still in the Governor’s Mansion at this time next year. Our current Republican governor, Smilin’ Tim Pawlenty, has opted not to run again so he can spend the next two years in Alabama wooing the Neo-Confederates that will pick the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee. That means that the seat is open.
But I thought women were from Venus????
Mars is where I’m supposed to go I think. *g*
Interesting so the Progressives are paying the bills? I always thought the Blue Dogs got more cash because they sucked up to big corporations but if our side is paying the bills we should be calling the shots.
Also he avoids having to cut Michelle’s seat and risking Tea Bag anger. The baggers are getting played.
How can the blue Dogs claim popular status if they get cash from our side? If their Corporate cash raised is not enough for them to give?
You get to leadership jobs in politics by giving cash to new members and then they owe you their vote for leadership.
Our side gives more cash but its funneled to the Dem Party and used to elect Blue Dogs?
This is a perpetual failure machine!
It’s funny, I was standing outside Rep. Moran’s town hall in Reston, Virginia last summer and one of the loons I engaged, a young woman, used this same line.
Hmmmm…
Baker got two out of three right: isn’t that a passing grade in American public schools?
Translation of everything Palin says: “Oh, y’know, I don’t want to HAVE to assume the very worst about liberals and Obama, but y’know, I’m just forced to, y’know, because my bigotry makes me assume the worst about him… so really, it’s Obama’s fault for not being in my tribe… cause y’know, if Obama were ‘one of us’, then we would assume that he was our friend and we would accept and defend his decisions, you betcha!”
It’s amazing how conservatives have managed to repackage bigotry and hypocrisy as if they were okay for “the right people”. It makes me sick.
Heh – that’s what caught my eye as well: surprise! Teabaggers got 2 outta 3 right, which is pretty darn good for them.
As for the Hitler had socialized medicine meme: my teabagger fundie family froths at the mouth about that. I’ve never bothered to research it, but the Koch’s via their thinktank that’s atroturfing and funding this Kabuki crap (for ALL of our entertainment: think gladiators) have pounded that meme since the nanosecond that HCR came onto the table. I have no idea if it’s accurate, and frankly: why bother to look it up. Stupid.
The Rs will run Palin IF they think she can win. Bill O’Reilly has come out and admitted that they are “educating and training her” that Palin is going to what Billo calls “political college.” Don’t think about that too long, or, as a prior post said, your brain will turn to yogurt.
As for Bachmann’s ranting about teh eeeevul census: I had a somewhat protracted back and forth blog “conversation” (different) the other day with someone claiming to be in their early 20s and this is their first census. This person had a bunch of batshit interpretations for WHY the census was somehow this evil, invasive, nearly unconstitutional, devious instrument that could put him/her in serious danger. But this same person was blithely unconcerned about ongoing (to this day) warrantless unconsitutional wiretaps. Plus was angry with me for connecting his/her fear of the census with his/her lack of concern about having his/her phone tapped (saying the expected: I have nothing to hide, so why should I mind if the gov’t listens in to my phone conversations).
Honestly, the cognitive dissonance was astounding. I was very polite with this person, but others on the blog lost patience and were more rude. It is hard to stay grounded when they say so many contradictory things, which basically amount to: if an R did/said it, then it’s fine (no matter what), but if a D does/says it, then it is totally wrong beyond all imagining.
Not to say that Ds don’t drink kool aid. They do. But I guess mainly they seem a tad more grounded in reality.
Onwards…
Playing to the rubes is the oldest trick in the book. And we have a lot of rubes in this trog country. No wonder the Europeans think we’re stupid and violent. Anyone tuning into that scene yesterday with those two nitwits on the stage would come to the same conclusion.
I made the mistake of coming in here and reading this thread
I live in Minnesota’s 6th C.D.
but what really has me concerned, is if the vested powers are successful, and we keep looking and laughing at them, well, come November, will just still be looking at laughing at them.
Ah the Swag-Hag express rolls on…
What was so interesting to watch was that the IQ of the group on stage actually went DOWN as more and more gathered there… Until the levels fell below zero and they were transported into the Ailes-based universe where everyone had a fudgesicle…..
Hey PW
Here I thought you were in Phoenix, silly me
I’m in the 6th CD MN, where r u ?
Wait, isn’t Teddy Roosevelt on Mount Rushmore? And didn’t Glenn Beck declare Teddy to be some sort of evil progressive? Clearly this guy hasn’t been paying attention.
