Featuring two new videos from Northern Lights final show and The Soft Pack.
What’s on your mind tonight?
ZED
Aloha, ES…!
Evening losers
How’d ya manage to type that many zeds…? ;-)
Dammit, I’m wantin’ to get in here with an early comment!
CT and ES howdy how’s everything in Arkansas and Hawaii tonight? Nice day here.
Telepathic ask Andy Warhol Pretty cool huh. Grin
*sips nice hot cup of tea*
Evening everyone
We had a foot of snow yesterday… and this evening it looks like it never happened.
Spring is back.
And welcome to late night for music, video art and humor. Our gracious host tonight will be ES backed by Mr. Information CT. Enjoy.
Aloha, MM and bb…! I caught the tail end downstairs…! Are you experiencing the soggy weather Hilo’s been getting of late…? ;-)
I voted for Barack Obama and all I got was this lousy health insurance reform?
CT,
When does Hilo not get soggy weather? I recall that seeing a dark cloud on the horizon was a cue to find some shelter.
I’ve been writing, over the past couple of days, about the crappy responses I got to sending Jane’s/Jon’s “chart” out to my “friends.” [One accused me of going over to the Tea Partiers.]
Well, I’ve got an update. I was thinking of writing a diary.
My Dear Husband is back in DC on business, and actually had lunch with Mr. “She’s Gone Over to the Tea Partiers.” First, he told DH it was “just a joke,” but then said he favored the bill because he thought it “had a lot of good things, like ending the anti-trust exemption for insurance companies.”
Since I’ve been whining to my husband constantly about the bill’s shortcomings, he was able to say, “no, Steve, there’s no ending of the anti-trust exemption in the bill that was voted on & passed.”
I’m hoping that forehead slapping, “I could have had a V-8″ occurred, or at least an Emily Latella “never mind.”
Nimrod.
Wassup Puppers! Nice vid, ES!
That’s wild. Is the river running high this year?
evening, ES – firegods
1.5 million more homeless in the next two years folks. Where will they go for the necessities?
Didn’t you ask me that a day or two ago?
Not fully “soggy” yet, just overcast.
That’s Mr Information..!
*poof* went that foot of snow already…? ;-)
How’s the streams and rivers handling it…?
Way to persevere!
Evening, Eureka!
I swear I am going to have a custom t-shirt made
Change We Can Bereave In
I’m buying.
Yeah, I voted for him too. Oh well, I learned my lesson. I won’t make that mistake again. As a former president so eloquently phrased it, “Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.”
You just can’t make that stuff up.
Who needs Saturday Night Live?
Write away, M’dear…! I’d rec it in a new york minute…! ;-)
River’s up and roaring outside my back door. Kayak fever I tell ya.
Evening sir, you tried chrome for mac yet? Like it?
You’d better have a few dozen (or more) made.
Actually, I (very reluctantly) accept that this is the best we can do at this point. Obama and his Flying Circus so mis-managed the front end of this thing that we had no hope of getting real health care reform.
Had they handled the opening as well as they handled the end-game we’d have single payer now. I really believe that.
Now we need to elect better Democrats and fix this rotten sausage before it goes into effect.
Husband did give “Steve” a lecture about how I had been following this, reading a lot, etc., and “Steve” should perhaps give my opinion more weight — at least as to the facts of what was in the bill.
“Steve” is welcome to draw his own conclusion after learning the facts, but ought to take that step first.
I just took this as an example of what’s gonna happen as many of those folks out there figure that the “facts” e-mailed to them by OFA and the DNC are not quite true.
Perusing the “what’s in the bill” and “what’s going to happen now” articles from AP, ABC et al. makes me want to barf.
Saw Hillary on cspan this evening…. talking to AIPAC on behalf of the administration.
Scary as it ever was.
Yeah, not in love yet.
I have sadly become accustomed to the tab-behavior of Firefox for mass-browsing. And I use Safari for the good stuff.
But Chrome is in early release. We will see.
Too funny LOL
I dunno… I am going to need some serious convincing before i vote D for dog catcher anytime soon.
Just not enough aloe vera the get the burn out.
No multi tabbing in chrome. That’s weird.
hiya Margot
Associated Press now partners with Murdoch on sports info ventures. Part of the plan.
Same at Huffpo check out their list of 18 goodies the bill provides. Will Reid put in the PO as he said yesterday?
Actually, it’s there but hidden.
Click on a link, or launch a new bookmark while holding down the Command key. A new tab should pop up to the right.
What, no gods?
Evening PPDCUS
I understand the feeling. I even share it. The question is, how do we get to where we want to be, given where we are now and where we are headed.
My answer was, “Pass the damned bill. Then fix it.”
It is on the agenda now, and it can’t be removed nearly so easily. So we elect better Democrats and fix the thing.
In honor of my sanity, I can’t go to Huff Po or any of those places. I happened to catch ABC while walking by my tv [quickly changed it], and APs are the only stories that appear in my lousy local paper.
Hi PPDCUS, how you doing?
Hey, who needs any of those furrin’ wire services, anyway?
Thanks, think I will wait a while. If you don’t use it much.. opera, FF and safari will more than do. Though I do miss the old old versions of FF which could handle more tabs than any since then.
And *%&$#$$&** FF is really iffy on whether or not you can restore tabs after a crash nowadays.
M e r c i f u l l y
My TV is stored in the garage, I get my MSM misinformation here second hand without the stress.
What’s ‘chrome’?
Yeah! And Safari just improved tab-recovery.
Go figure.
At first, I thought you said “furry” wire services.
Since I have four dogs, I need ‘em.
As a matter of fact, gotta take a few minutes out to go feed ‘em now.
Your Mac crashes?
Those “better Democrats” could pass a better bill on their own. It’s not going to happen, not with this crowd in charge. That’s the bottom line there, aside from the fact that we’re spending $90billion a year on average to cover virtually no one more effectively than they were covered, and we’re all going to have to pony up either 2 percent of our income or buy insurance that we can’t afford to use anyway.
Going backwards is not how to get ahead.
hey eureka, et al!
Google’s web browser. It’s quite good.
People on a AR blog I frequent have lost all facts… I keep inserting them with links, like the fact sheet… and they just keep bottoming out with invective and name calling… and absolutely no attempt at fact in rebuttal, much less links.
And it’s a Dem blog. Astonishing.
Not much difference between hope and faith based folk/politicking I tell ya.
If you can’t go to any of those news sources, mauimom, then you don’t see what people are reading/seeing and assuming are true.
I learn a lot at Huffpo. For instance, my very own Darrell Issa is still an asshole.
Do you watch any news on MSNBC?
That’s been true in the Linux version, too. It’s not a system problem, it’s something in FF.
Googles new browser.
Too much Iranian scare-mongering, love-fest, with virtually no mention of the crucial ‘settlement’ issue, nor the Gazan blockade… 8-(
You can peruse the transcript here…
Crap, FF always tells me I have to “delete” some of my pre-crash tabs before restoring.
Fine. Elect better Democrats and pass a better bill. I didn’t say squat about how to fix it, just that it’s on the agenda, it is a budget matter now, and it can’t be killed the way it could be before it became a budget matter.
No, but FF on a mac does. I load a zillion youtubes at a time.
Hi sunny… thought about you as I made my cup of tea this evening.
Ah. I’ve never really understood the commotion about various browsers . . . since I went MAC, Safari has been fine, I don’t see much diff with FireFox . . . and both are better than when I was PC using IE.
But I’m not a high end user . . what does google have/do Safari don’t do?
I’m wondering though, once the exchanges are up and running, would a large company or say, government employee group be denied access?
Sadly, I don’t know of any.
Four dogs is quite a few. My sister and her husband have five or so. It feels like there’s no room there for people.
I haven’t seen that one yet. I’m in 3.5.8, and won’t upgrade to 3.6 until I have played with it on a laptop.
I used to, but no more.
I agree that visiting these sites is useful for finding our what’s being peddled out there. [I offer the same rationale for staying on the various OFA/DNC et al. e-mail lists.] But at some point, I just can’t stand the crazy.
As was mentioned, the MSM spin on the HCR effort, and what EXISTS as opposed to what they are spinning is truly from another dimension.
The entire Dem Machine and MSM are revisioning reality!!!!
And the Dem Voters (not progs) are buying it and lapping it up like melting ice cream.
More memory.
Dunno. I’m running Windows 7 now. I will say that it’s the bestest version of Windows ever.
But that’s damning with faint praise, because it’s still about where OS/2 Warp 3 was 12 years ago.
W. C. Fields…”Never give a sucker an even break”. He is running the show from behind the curtain.
Jeebus. A tin-can-and-string is better than WinDoze and IE.
Hi Sunny, did you get our rain? Got kind of cool, too.
This is what happens when your human kids grow up, go to college and eventually on to their own lives.
Although, to be honest, we had four dogs when they were here. I’ve been doing rescue for a number of years, so there are always a number of fur-balls around. Four is our max, though.
MSM sure wants us to believe it.. time will tell and more polling too. Glen Greenwald linked up a CNN poll today… folks on all fronts didn’t like the bill.
I think jane was spot on last night with her “New Gay for the republicans” post
Good question, I suppose. Really large corporations won’t need to. It’s more the ones in the middle who will have the problems, I think. I’d have to wonder if they’d want to, though. If the exchange is mostly individuals and small fry, they’re the people the insurers will screw with the most. No, I don’t expect most states to do squat about enforcement, and the Feds certainly won’t. Any company large enough to have some leverage with an insurance provider might be better to do its own shopping. Maybe they could wait to see how things work out, but at least initially I’d be wary.
Could be part of the problem, I don’t know.. I have 2 gigs ram.
I thought Jane’s statement on FDL’s position on healthcare today was her best piece ever.
People seem to like it pretty well. The last version of Windows I’d have used for any purpose without a gun pointed to my head was 2000, but I haven’t tried 7. There’s a copy of Vista on this laptop, but that’s only there in case I can’t get some vital system update to work from Linux.
*G*
OS X 10.1.11
I’ve got a gig of memory, need to add the other gig that’s possible . . . I’d have to scrap two 500MB cards and buy two One Gig Cards . . . money lost and money spent . . . not for now sadly . . .
AR as a State will never stand up to Blue Cross. Never.
Yes, it was wonderful.
That sounds a little on the light side if you’re keeping a bunch of media links open. For sure it’s on the light side for a Windoze system.
I guess I could say, be glad. If you had a WinDoze machine crashing like that you’d be saying, “Sacre Bleu Screen of Death! Again!”
Yep, I was VERY happy to buy a new MAC when I did!!!
Oh yes, mac all the way here.
What is that Bad Boy? 2 G RAM pretty awesome.
well, thanks – how’s everything with you?
I have a gun held to my head.
I’m a statistician, and I need to run SAS. SAS won’t run on a Mac unless you boot it under WinDoze or a supported Unix OS. I refuse to have a computer that I have to reboot half-a-dozen times a day.
What I am looking forward to is doubling my memory to 8 gigs and going to the 64 bit version of SAS and WinDoze. A friend of mine is running that setup and it’s sweet.
Then I’ll be back to where I was when I first started programming in another century. I was working on a Control Data system.
firegods greeting at #17, ES
Yeah, Mz. Hamsher’s been nailing it, as has Jon W and David D . . . . and all the others.
As you suggest, we’ll see how long this allusion of HCR exists and we’ll see what resistance develops to PAYING for coverage the mandate imposes . . . and the crap ins. that mandate enforces, and all of it.
I’m NOT as optimistic as others this POS bill will get fixed, either . . . . I’m MUCH more optimistic the state’s are going to sue regarding the mandate and also develop single payer options LONG before any of the so called ‘exchanges’ in the present Senate bill become alive.
Mrs Dr BC is very happy with her new MacBook. Now if some institution of higher education would just offer her a job.
Working out of the borg cube on I-494, BC?
It was quite a read, wasn’t it . . . *G*
And that’s okay with me, too. I care not at all where or how it gets fixed, just that it is fixed.
The first mandate lawsuits have already been filed, per Olbermann.
Mine hasn’t done much to stand up to it, either. At one time, it had a state run health insurance program. They capitulated on that years ago, once insurance companies “promised” to compete here. The results of this are some of the reason I’m absolutely against any proposed reform of insurance that doesn’t include some godawfully serious enforcement.
Yet people seem to think this isn’t a problem.
I suppose that it depends of the Insurance Commissioner. Garamendi did a good job for us in CA.
Just the basic white mac book.. it came with one gig… a friend helped me add another.
Wow, my MAC can only TAKE 2 gigs!!!
You must have one BIG ASS processor!!!!!!!
Mine’s the intel dual core . . . sadly, all this stuff’s outdated in a year or so when you buy new!!!
Sounds like you HAVE to have it, though, for your work . . . if I was editing audio or video for pay I’d have the best I could get, too . . . .
:)
As long as you have fairly new hardware, that should go just fine. I have a USB ethernet dongle I bought a few years ago. No Windows 64 bit drivers yet, and probably there never will be. Why do I need 64 bit Windows drivers? There aren’t any proper Linux drivers at the moment, but Linux can use Windows drivers for network hardware.
Nope. I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’m a professor of applied statistics at a land-grant school. SAS was originally a project of the Southern Experiment Stations out of NC State.
One of the smartest things Goodnight did was to spin off and into a private company.
For my own research I use a lot of R. When collaborating with others, or trying to figure out WTF SAS is doing, I use SAS.
Fingers crossed!
Yeah, Idaho, as of Friday, I think was the first????
I guess I’m wondering if the large groups, say San Diego County Dept. of Ed., will be able to get insurance bids from the exchanges. Compete with the insurance companies.
So SAS is a statistics program?
Policy statement or position paper. Was interesting approach. Signaling a new business plan. The how needs answering.
Don’t worry, ES — firegods is just a dyslexic reaction to last night’s house vote.
I just got a new Dell boatanchor, though now it will only anchor a small boat. My friend got the same new machine, except that instead of a dual monitor setup (I have a portrait mode 21″ and landscape mode 19″) he opted for an SD, etc. card reader and 8 GB and the 64 bit OS.
this californian just had a brain fart:
Boxer is running for reelection. Why not go big and offer the PO and bury the execrable Carly I wiretap my successful HP colleagues Fiorina at the same time?
I mean we ARE the state that got reamed by Blue Cross and resurrected the health care issue. Feinstein, of course, won’t do anything.
Me worry? *S*
Sort-of.
What it really is, is the only fully-certified-by-the-FDA software for data analysis in New Drug Apps. So everyone in the pharmaceutical industry runs it.
I’m not sure what their market penetration is outside the Pharm industry.
I would love dual monitors. Next mac book will have to be capable of handling it.
Sounds good to me. How are Boxers poll numbers?
That’s — what Me worry? We’re all MAD now, ES.
I’m not one of those “others”, as you may have noticed. It’s hard to believe that Congress hasn’t had its fill of health care right now. There are other things they still need to get around to screwing up, like not regulating the banks, passing a jobs bill that wouldn’t even fund NASA, plus shoveling another $100 billion or so into Afghanistan and Iraq.
As long as the current crew is in charge, nothing’s going to change.
The states might be the level to work at, especially on the individual mandate. The possibility of single payer seems more remote, given that insurance companies have plenty of money to buy politicians with, but a state that’s already down on its luck thanks to all the big employers having left town might be willing.
It’s sweet. I have text open in portrait mode and analytic software/browser etc in landscape mode.
Oh, good question! lemme check.
Was gonna ask what you were drinking :-)
Been drinking lots of overnight iced tea recently. Wonderful orange blossom oolong – clean, civilized and refreshing. No desire to sweeten it. Also, a lemon-mango blend – surprised me by being a bit too fruity/lemony for my taste.
Don’t want to to refine my tastes into the poor house…. so tempting with some of the greens.
But would she be able to get the 50 other senators on board?
When they call us some kind of bagger… you know they are really grasping.
Won’t know if she doesn’t try.
Dead heat, according to Rasmussen.
But again, that’s Rasmussen, the republican tool.
Sounds heavenly. As soon as it warms up a bit more I am going to have to place a few summer tea orders from that fellow.
Wow, agree on Rasmussen being slanted.. but still it’s closer than I would have guessed.
well, I found this from four days ago but who knows how people feel now:
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE62H2C520100318
Tom Campbell is the serious contender, not Fiorina, who will probably lose in her primary.
Yikes!
Would love to see an honest poll, and particularly the gender breakdown.
That sounds new enough. As long as you don’t have any five year old Netgear dongles in your desk drawer you should be OK…
Losing to Fiorina would be embarrassing.
She hasn’t started campaigning. And California going red? I guess anything’s possible since our governator was elected…
Edit. I haven’t seen any campaigning, anyway. Fundraising, hellya!
Nope. I’ve got a five year old notebook, but it’s running XP.
that’s when I move to canada…if fiorina is elected to anything. she does NOT have a good local reputation, so it’s all about ego (and more than usual and that’s saying a lot)
Loo,
Der Governator got elected as an incumbent. Without the Gray Davis recall I don’t believe Ahnohd ever becomes der Governator.
Rasmussen’s not so bad. They are one of the outfits that use “likely voters” as subjects rather than “registered voters”. That’s going to make them lean Republican.
If you look down near the bottom of that report, part of the trouble appears to be Obama. The poll gives him less-than-stellar ratings on handling health care. That’s a theme that was common to the MA Senate race, too.
I should go see if Pollster’s back online yet…
we have our, ahem, red parts. Orange County anyone? home of st ronnie and tricky dick? Prop 8? it’s a really big state. Incumbent rage. anything can happen.
OC and the central valley are very conservative.
that’s why I wonder if she could really win big with something as popular as the PO…
the really weird police line up of unusual suspects is the governor’s race – E-meg, poizner & moonbeam.
But that’s why Carly’s a perfect Rethuglican fit. She managed to run Hewlett-Packard into the roadside ditch. She’s ready to join the Rethuglicans in DC and do it for the whole country.
Kick it around pups. Ah’ll be bach. gtg. nite.
Da governator’s poll numbers are at 22% — one of the lowest on record.
Only Cheney’s were worse.
Interesting… i bet Boxer wins since the state GOpers and Ahnold have so royally screwed the CA pooch.
I just hope old Jerry Brown wins.
yeah, i forgot. imcompetency is a virtue.
From what I read as of Friday, The HP Gal spent a few fortunes in ads, and Boxer has been very cautious up to now. Much like Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown. All that money spent over a month, and tied with someone who’s not really in full run mode . . .
The HP Gal is going full Xtian on Boxer, too . . . anti choice, and more. Looking for the red state voters.
Once Boxer kicks into full campaign mode, she should be fine . . . but then, she caved on HCR so I don’t know if I’ll be voting for her . . . I sure as hell wouldn’t want to see Carly F elected, though, not for ANY reason.
I got some tough choices to make on party affiliation, loyalty, and how to separate it all from my actual vote, come November . . . guess we all do, us blue’s.
I was going to say not to forget Kern, Fresno and Tulare counties. Kern is one of the batshit craziest places I’ve ever lived.
I know Orange County’s pretty nutsy, but I think Kern’s out beyond it.
LOL police lineup. too funny. and true.
agree!
I overlooked that, re: Campbell. Thanks.
Nite dosido
I’m fine, thanks. Have a teen son who’s going in early tomorrow for wisdom teeth extractions, and was trying to convince him not to worry about pain, they will give him meds for the pain. Told him he didn’t worry about it when he had his appendix out. Hm, he hadn’t thought of it like that. Dental pain is very delicate subject with some people.
They wont come after ya if you don’t leave um high and dry like they have you/us.
Cally really should have strong Green party damnit.
As an incumbant? Darrell Issa had to cry, cuz he thought he bought the governor shop.
Yes, Pollster is online. Boxer’s job approval is going in the wrong direction. Whatever changed appears to have started last summer, so it might be health care. She’s now at 40/50 (approve/disapprove) according to the latest SurveyUSA poll.
HA!
I had mine out when I was in my late twenties. Didn’t experience pain at all.
FWIW, I had my wisdom teeth out under a local. It’s no big deal. And the dentist will give him happy drugs. Get something better than Tylenol #3, especially if he is sensitive to codeine (or you or his dad is). Puking your guts out over extractions is nasty.
Make sure he takes the happy drugs well before the local wears off.
I had my appendix out a few years ago. No way I’d ever let them do that under a local.
CA has really slipped in the past decade or two, the legislature has allowed the state to bankrupt itself.
And our governors for the most part have enabled it, too.
All because of that little add on to Prop 13, for a 2/3rd’s legislature vote to pass anything like reform.
Sigh.
I gotta run, niters Pups One And All and thanks for the chat.
Yeah what a mess. Was all downhill since Reagan and prop 13. Glad I caught the middle of the slope (80′s early 90′s).
True, dat.
But Ahnohd was an incumbent when he really ran for Governor. That recall election was a very special case. I don’t think Ahnohd could have won except as an incumbent.
The real shame of Arnold is that this is the beginning, middle and end of his political career. He had the opportunity to tell Californians some things they needed to hear. But he listened to his staff.
Boxer’s people are worried. Seems they put their own poll out at the end of last week. Real basic-will you be voting for Babs?
Goodnight Larue, dosido, and whoever else I missed.
Pollster’s composites with the three likely Republicans are a bit worrisome, particularly Campbell. She’s only a couple of points ahead of Campbell. Her numbers relative to the other two shouldn’t even be close, but they’re in the 5-10 percent range. Effective campaigning could help that, but she has low approval ratings, and I’m not sure she can fix that.
Well, it’s probably not so much a police line up as a seriously detached from reality TV show.
I hope your son really needs them extracted. Both of my girls were told their wisdom teeth would screw up the rest of their teeth, but no such thing. I think there’s far more wisdom teeth pulling than is necessary.
Just a thought, not to be toe stepping.
Later in life, when they’re old guys, those wisdom teeth can be anchors for bridges. Seems like in America, the dentists are looking toward further income instead of what’s best in many cases.
Cujo and BCT,
Yes, I had the same experience in my 20s, no problem. He’s just always had very good teeth and is worried about having 4 extractions at once, I think.
…I had my tonsils removed under a local when I was about 19. Now that was not fun.
You, me and Darryl together again! Sort of.
Good Evening, Loo Hoo and other nuts up this late. *g*
If California voters were smart, they’d repeal Prop. 13. Of course, if Washington voters were smart, we wouldn’t keep voting for new ways to make it impossible for the legislature to raise money when it needs to.
The dentist says he needs them removed, but that’s a good point.
Here’s the petition to change that. It takes a wet signature, and must be mailed in.
IIRC prop 13 was a ballot initiative… is that what it would take to repeal it, another initiative?
I think you’ll see her often and soon. The undecideds are pissed off dems that she’ll probably recover, but she’ll have to be very visible. Dems didn’t even know what to say or not say for the past year. Town Brawls scared them .
Oh it’s in the works. That’s good to hear… long overdue.
I’m not sure. Up here the legislature is free to change it if it wants. They just usually would rather not. Even so, another ballot initiative would certainly do it, and by this time you’d think CA would have had enough.
Hey demi!!! I really should go to bed, but I don’t wanna!
Yes, unless we change the 2/3 majority needed for a budget. Hence the petition.
Hi demi, Didn’t see you sneak in. Who oiled the back screen door? /s
We’ve been spinnin’ tunes all evening, and well, I’m not wanting to either, but have to admit, I am starting to tilt.
At least way to tired to try to sound like I’m on top of the California situation right now.
Another time, tho, all?
I wish more would have done what Eric Massa did, which is just have a lot of them and not put up with any crap. If you have several, no one’s going to get very far by disrupting one of them.
Anyway, it remains to be seen what the effect of health care “reform” will be, if any. It also remains to be seen whether things get even worse than they already are. I have the feeling things are going start looking bleak again by Fall. As in, the effect of the stimulus will run out, and there’s no real economic growth to replace it, thanks to there being tight credit (and other things).
The Democrats who aren’t worried are idiots.
Hey Folks!
From now on the right will attack everything wrong with the health care system and blame the government. They also are extending the “ramming it down our throats meme.”
Listen to this.

Comparing the passage of a health care bill in the House to a rape room. Way to keep the tone up there Suss.
I’d post this stuff on my blog, but I’m having some problems right now.
Hey
If I understand correctly, yes. Either that or a constitutional amendment, e.g., via a constitutional convention, which is what a lot of reasonable people are suggesting.
We’re still spinning, so I’m kinda surprised you didn’t hear me when I got here. From Pavrotti to KD Lang to the Band to Marvin Gaye to about a bunch a other stuff and now with Lucinda Williams.
(wiggling my eyebrows)
I sort of feel that way about it, myself.
Time for this old dog to kennel up.
Good to see you Cujo.
Night fabulous firedogs.
Yeah, well the Democrats walked right into that one by passing an individual mandate with no PO. Wait until people figure out that enforcing all those new insurance regulations was a little detail left for later.
Anyway, I could write the Republican campaign theme this fall, and for once they’d actually have something real to scare people with. Not that they’ve ever needed one…
Likewise, ES. Goodnight.
Crate!
night, all – be well
Night, ES. Me too.
Goodnight, PPDCUS. And Loo Hoo.
Yep. They wandered around leaderless for 13 months while Obama collected international praise and peace prizes. Somebody should have told them they only had 22months. It should have all been so easy. Guess it was for the MOTU.
I am from Lubbock, I am in Lubbock …….. In the last 60 days, Craig Crawford, Don Imus, and Keith Olberman have helped me shelter over 1,000 Haitians .

And thanks again, Spocko.
[I'm checking back in after some time away, so forgive me if this has already been said.]:
Has Barbara talked to Martha Coakley on how well that “have Obama come campaign for you” thing-y worked out?
Well of course Sussman was focusing on all sorts of other details.
He lied about the health care bill over and over. He was a believer in death panels run by Rahm’s brother.
Believe me, I’m with Jane on what this bill is. I know what it isn’t. It’s damn weak tea.
So, I go to a few local media “haunts” of mine, old and new, today and it is all so very bizarre. Two weeks ago, these people were openly discussing a primary challenge for Obama. Today, there were all very sanguine, acquiescing to the “inevitable”. Most had actually jumped on the “historic first step” bandwagon. What happened? Was there a “stupid gas” attack I was unaware of and had inadvertently avoided? Does anybody actually think anything substantive that mistakenly made it into the reconciliation sidecar won’t be disemboweled by the Senate? Even the far left liberal “~~~EDITED IN MODERATION~~~” are capable of being compliant, rapacious shills for the corporatocracy? How utterly sad and completely disheartening. What I found particularly appalling was the theme of, “Yeah, this bill blows but ain’t it great how we stuck our thumbs in the eyes of the GOP?” Lovely. So, the motivation behind governance now is to inflict as much electoral pain and public humiliation on the opposition/minority party? Excuse me now, while I go swallow a few razor blades and wash ‘em down with a glass of bleach.

Dude, I haven’t “seen” you in like, years. How are you doing?
If that’s your new blog address, I’ll add it to the old blogroll. I keep visiting your old one, and don’t see any changes.
Well, who isn’t? ;)
I wish those guys would have shut up and learned something. What they really should have been worried about had nothing to do with, well, any of what they were talking about last summer, basically.
That was supposed to be “forgive me.” Time for edit had expired by the time I got back here.

dosido has checked out. It’s a good question, though. I think one difference between Boxer and Coakley is that she won’t have to put up with all the “special assistance” Coakley did. As I mentioned earlier, that Rasmussen poll had some pretty bad approval numbers for Obama, at least on health care.
thanks Loo hoo you are too kind.
You all know I’m working on ways to change Starbucks mind on open carry of guns? Check out Doonsbury today and yesterday

How a Bunch of Fish Heads Got Keith Olbermann & Don Imus to Shelter a Village in Haiti

I’m still trying to figure out exactly how I feel about this healthcare bill in and of itself. I feel that the deception and lying by everyone involved in passing it has been despicable. As far as the bill itself, I suspect that it won’t work, but it may now lead Americans to believe that their government owes them adequate healthcare, which would be a good thing.
And one better than that -

Yep, might want to hold off on that extra shot of espresso while you’re packin’. Just saying.
Well, I think it’s time for me to abandon ship, too. Goodnight, all.
It might impair you aim.
If it leads to that attitude change, that will be a smallish silver lining. Sad that we’re going to make a lot of folks pay for something that won’t help them before we that attitude bears any fruit, but that’s Reaganomics for you.
Goodnight.
When I start making a billion a year, I don’t want no fuckin’ guvmint takin’ half of it.
I fine Whitman’s ads nonsense. Carly’s are bizarre.
Whitman does the whole “Run the state like a business” crap. Government is not a business the citizens aren’t your employees. You want to raise revenue in a state you don’t make a new product to sell. You don’t cut you product lines of using end of life wind downs. People’s lives really end!
The MBA exec era is over. MBAs brought us crappy business decisions and out sources jobs to the cheaps country. We need jobs and now.
Both the billionaires I know don’t pay 50 percent in taxes.
This thing is eating my replies ….. Good to see you too.

Spocko, excellent! It’s gotta sting.
I am so glad to see someone else focusing on the lack of government regulation for financial services companies. Notwithstanding our Congresspeople doled out billions of our tax dollars to bail out these poor investors while failing to regulate against the behavior that brought us here in the first place; people still seemed to doubt, this lack of regulatory oversight was intentional!
You mention state election contests as perhaps providing a more level playing field against special interests. I think you are right. Some of us have been crying out in the wilderness since the summer of 2008, where electoral issues are concerned, the ‘action’ originates in the states. Finally, it seems, people are listening. http://jbjd.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/open-letter-to-kenneth-t-cuccinelli-ii-attorney-general-of-virginia/
HEy pups, just circling back to pick up the empties and see what I missed.
And yeah, Ahnold ran on the businessman meme too and see what it got us? Nothing. It all comes down to the Prop 13 paralysis.
