Aloha, Suz and LLN brethren…! ;-)
hey sptatt — a little vino is good for the body *and* soul.

Hi Suz and pups, just a quick drive-by to say that the new Hendrix album totally rawks, imo.
wind cries mary
hey LL — how ya doing — i just laid some jimi in the thread (laughing)
“What’s on your mind?”
___
Whether health care “reform” legislation is actually gonna pass later this week, and, assuming it does, whether it’ll make any visible difference for the vast majority of people.
The more I learn, the less I seem to know.
Aloha, LL…!
hey boomer — hows’ vegas tonight?
Great timing there Suz ;-) Doing fine here, how ’bout you?
Aloha CT!
Oh, man,
My brother brought Jimmy into our lives. We adored him. Hmmm, circa 1968?
Vegas is lonely, for me.
:(
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
Well hello Haut Brion! *unsnivellingly, holds glass out*
And hi everybody else!
reading Dubord tonight so it seemed apropos
One word: SPRING!

hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
nice splice!
i’ll see if i can write a java script for that
hey kelly — how’s denver?
And some for me?
thank you very much
SUN could get right on it, if they called the first lesson “First Glass Of Vino” instead of “First cup of java.“
Suz, that’s a sweet photo over at your place of the little birdie hangin’ at the bird feeder :-)
WARM! Hit 69 on my porch today! Clear as a bell, no wind. It was downright springy.
breezy sam cooke for y’all
hi ya pups!
sptatt’s the one holding the groovy vino bag – me, I got some cheap merlot!
I’ve had my glass of wine for the night, so I won’t take any…but I must say it’s the thing that keeps mini-strokes from happening, for me. In addition to all the meds, one glass of red wine a day, I’m good to go.
warm here too Kelly, 70. one week ago, cold and hail! very rare around these parts.
thanks ll — i think its a russet backed chickadee
hey dosido — how ya doing tonght?
hey margot — i’ve always heard good things about one glass of red a day.
how ya doing tonight?
We’ve been in the rain and murk here in the Dee Cee area for a few days, but earlier in the afternoon the sun burst through and the temps rose and it was wonderful! Spring is springing.
Weee! Snowed last Sunday here! It’s wild Spring in the Rockies.
My FIL’s red wine is pretty good, and we love French Alsatian whites. All cheap!
windy and warm
wow, talk about yo yo weather…
Chet rawks!
doing ok, despite the fact it took less than five minutes of conversation to get into it with a Fox watching relative.
red wine
I think about those cherry trees you have there quite a bit.
I have an ornamental, Nanking (bush type works in my Denver Zone) and that darned bush gets FOOLED 2 out of 3 years and blooms too early here.
Quintessential Dylan and a great choice Suz.
Thought about this today.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE2MmwUbC_E
life’s too short to drink cheap wine buy it young let it age and enjoy a bit of dolce du vivre.
i’ve finally got my long time fox watching friend watching the rachel maddow show. turns out she likes rachel — i think some of the truth is getting through — finally :)
Doing great, thank you Suz. Dog and I went to visit the neighbor, the 80+ year old guy who mows lawns until it snows. He can’t wait to get started.
hey emerson — how’s the east bay tonight?
Love those cherry blossoms. I sure hope the weather holds here for the annual festival; in years past it’s been quite a rainy or icy affair at times!
*laughing* every neighborhood needs someone like that margot — does he do the snow blower in the winters instead?
ugh, it’s just that he totally blindsided me. We were talking about the berlin airlift – totally cool – then slams BO for apologizing to everybody. ugh!
he’s in denial about how far off the winger deep end he is. So I said, if you watch Fox you are way to the right. And they lie! they lie they lie they lie! I said that.
And my daughter ushered me out the door, thank goodness! LOL.
I swear I’m going to end up in a straitjacket thanks to him.
Got to go — thank you Suz, and good night to you and all the pups; hope to be able to stop by again next week when I have some leave from work :-) G’night all!
ug. i’ve got some kin like that that i have vowed i will walk away from when they start spewing the fox talking points. i’ve had to ask them to remove me from their hate filled email list of ‘funny’ jokes. *shrudder*
ya can’t pick your kin
just driving by – Heroes by Ne-Yo

hey mr why — ooooooo i like that — and g’nite
I hope it wasn’t my fox breath that stunk the place up that made you go…’nite.
love emmy lou mac — thanks
Sweet that you love your lady so much, vegasboomer.
yeah, I made that vow too, but it just came out of nowhere. From point A to point K in the same sentence.
lol!! No, wasn’t that at all…
A cousin from OK called me last week and we avoided politics entirely.
i hate it when i get caught in my unawares like that…
hey loohoo — how’s socal tonight?
phew!
Concur wholeheartedly as these damn cardboard boxes just are NOT aging WEll, and my spirit guide just can’t quite seem to point me to where I buried my Napoleon
Hey folks! Hey Newtonusr I was looking for you the other night. Did you happen to go to downtown Palo Alto on the day that the Open Carry Gun people were meeting at Lytton plaza?
that’s the best way to get along, really.
Another friend posted a comment on FB, I wasn’t sure where he stood politically, but he’s upset that BO isn’t the centrist he promised to be…so that gives me a little hint. I was tempted to leave a comment, but thought better of it. He was frustrated over taxes, but I’m not very worried about his financial situation, he’s doing really well and that’s another hint, too.
i thought it was going to be this napoleon
hey spocko — how ya doing tonight?
holy moly, how did i not hear about that?! what happened?
Nice!
Love his voice.
Red Red Wine
me too — and i love how that song always gets my toes tapping in a non larry-craig way
I didn’t. My appointment in Menlo Park ended at at 1pm.
gtg, pups, nite.
I hope you’re right about your FOX watching friend. But, I admit to being guilty of never watching FOX. I do listen to Limbaugh occasionally, though. It always blows the mind!
I’ll watch Obama on FOX though.
Hey Kelly, Thanks for the encouraging words for me to Amy Goodman. I wrote her a note. Not that I think anything will come of it. It’s “old news”
I’m working on two new stories.
1) Their suggested violence toward government workers which I will use for their government advertisers.
–If I can find the audio clip of a Suss man caller taking about how he greets government workers with a shot gun I will use it.
2) Convincing Starbucks to not host the open carry gun people.
I’ve gathered info from businesses around the gun meeting places
I’m not gathering info about reasons why they won’t want to host them
a) Employees don’t want it
b) It is in opposition to their mission statement
c) Most customers don’t want it
c) Their insurance carrier will charge them more if they keep doing this
d) Their employees might decided to sue them for allowing their work place to become a hostile work environment
If any of you folk are in the insurance industry and have insight into cc or d please drop me a line. I’ve got questions.
g’nite dosido
He did a little. I tried to shovel for him but he yelled at me to get away, it was icy and he didn’t want me breaking some bone, lol. He let my son shovel, though.
smart old guy (laughing)
he probably remembers when you were thumping around with that cast on your foot — was that last winter?
Heh! Might as well have been!
Oh, Suz. I took my mom’s sweet dog about a year ago to help her out, and he’s being weird today. Doesn’t want to eat and will only drink water if I put it on my finger. Really strange. I didn’t want to take him really, certainly didn’t want to fall in love with the old guy, but I did.
Sad.
nice to be back home with belch? or are ya back on the road again?
after a certain point it’s collecting not drinking. Most of the time it’s vin ordinaire for me, was just feeling festive tonight.
oh no loohoo — have ya let the vet know?
3 years ago now, I think.
no way — it can’t be that long ago! geez louise….. i wudda swore it was just last winter
congrats on snagging the 100 sptatt
Love that song!
This is part of a movement that is pushing to “normalize” guns in society. Since they can’t get Conceal carry permits easily in CA they are openly going to coffee shops and restaurants with their hand guns on their belts in holsters. The guns have to be unloaded, but they can have bullets in their belts on the other side.
They have been holding these in the bay area in cities that are smaller than the big cities. It is legal in places like Walnut creek. But businesses have the right to say no to firearms. Starbucks put out a statement that basically said that they wouldn’t object if the open carry people came into their stores.
I’ve been thinking about how to work to flip their narrative which focuses on the 2nd Amendment and tries to make them seem like freedom fighters for civil rights. They are saying that businesses that don’t let them in are discriminating, and some have been comparing this “discrimination” to black or gays. (I’m not kidding, they really have to see themselves as the victims even when they are packing heat!)
My goal is to move the conversation off of 2nd Amendment and back onto business rights, employee and customers rights.
Of course the right’s view is that an “armed society is a polite society” but this is really about intimidation. They want what they want and if they can’t get it legally they will remind us all that they can back it up with Smith and Wesson.
Starbucks made a big PR mistake. I’d like to give them reasons to correct it, both soft marketing reasons and hard financial reasons.
But of course this requires that I challenge the NRA and the gun lobby.
I figure, hey I bested right wing talk radio and Disney why not set my sights higher (pun intended.)
Bummer I wanted to know if any of the people tried to go into local businesses and were turned away.
Well, there’s this little tidbit:
Arthur Rubinfeld is back at Starbucks. And I don’t think they’ve change from Marsh-McLennan as their insurance rider provider; you know they’re one of the most friendly in that business…
had the dime too if i could figure out some way to pour wine over the internet i’d bust open a couple cases and go for the thousand.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6WDFPX6tp0
that is gold dood
I’d help out in a boycott, but I’ve never liked Starbucks coffee. Tastes like a radiator byproduct. Way too strong and burnt tasting.
there’s always the cyber wine in the (ahem) somehow unlocked cabinets over by the power strips (and the brain bleach buttons)
Cheers on your 100!
Not to mention the keg.
SHHH! No Talking About The Keg!
found that today. Patty still kicks. :-)
and i won’t say anything about the other keg
koan?
beer
i like to think of it as ‘this place is what we make it’ and if i wanna make wine appear in mysteriously unlocked cabinets……
darkblack created the need for the brain bleach buttons
Exactly how it tastes to me too.
more wine
Heavyweights
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ayQq5AQxF0
wow! most excellent find emerson…i’ve been enjoying this heavyweight myself
Wonderful, Suz!

Wine, Super Mario version.
spill the wine
Thanks Kelly! You always give me great info!
one of my favorites always enjoyed Eric
Borat on wine.
tis one of those songs that take me right back to summers as a teen…
watermelon wine
Well, I don’t do boycotts, but thanks. I try and work to set up one group against another. Advertisers against right wing radio. Insurance companies against gun toters.
we were different teenagers together, spilling wine is also a libation to the gods and the dead
I know you do. You are doing wonderful work. Thanks so much, spocko.
here’s one that’s a bit off the wall
all summer long
OMG-that’s the best clip on you tube! That’s who will be playing when we get to heaven. Wonderful to see Billie having fun. Lester got to her again. And how young is Mulligan there?
Little bit of heaven on earth. Wow.
Sippie Wallace…I just love this song
no link – wanna try again?

Woops.
love esther’s stuff — nice to see her stuff on utube
Night. Gotta take care of Roofie.
Thanks. You know I appreciate you noticing. I do so much of this alone and under a pseudonym it helps talk about it here. I learn alot for folks here. And since nobody official has figured out how to hire me you all are my only collegues.
made me think of this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MRu8N2K0NY
g’nite loohoo — hope she is better tomorrow
Jersey Girl Sarah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m1X6y9Gzhs
that made me think of this
Gotta “bum” and run. By “bum” I mean indicate how bummed I am over this whole health care situation. Despairing over how bad this bill is, depressed that so many think it’s going to pull them out of the quicksand they’re in, just plain crapped out at the venality of Obama. [I've been reading various threads here tonight. It's so evil out at so many other sites, you just can't safely go there.]
i surrender most abjectly
Why don’t the health insurance companies have testimonials to their greatness on ads?
Nite Loo Hoo.
ya can’t surrender (laughing)
yeah me too lived that one.
big mama
Thanx for the EXCELLENT music tonite Suz and pups. G’nite.
you’re welcome and g’nite emerson
remember those old juke joints byob selling set ups, the band would come out and burn down the house for about an hour and then go into the break just cooking slow and then it’s star time and out would come the headliner and sometime around dawn it’s just be smoke and ash stumbling out the door.
i don’t remember em (isn’t that the proper response — laughing)
dazed and confused
shouldn’t of moved to San Diego, Pearl, Mississippi only a two lane blacktop hour from New Orleans. i left off the i in front.
down in mississippi and up to no good
s/d is where ya are now?
back to Bob
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y1UUZJVbus
Loo hoo, that is such a knee-slapper!! Thanks.
susan does bob
hey mauimom — how ya doing tonight?
Just checkin in, Suz, great Dylan clip, with Bloomfield on git on the left and Al Kooper on the Hammond B3 Organ.
Sweet.
*G*
hey larue — how’s sac? i’m thinking it is that concert in england where he told the band fuck em play it loud.. or words to that effect.
no i’m in omaha or Om- aha as i like to think of it, thought you said your daddy got sent to SD from New Orleans
i’m sorry i forgot. yes, when i was in 2nd grade, dad was transferred from n/o to s/d. i was 7 or almost 8 when we moved back to s/d. we had been stationed there before the transfer to n/o. dad retired a year or so later.
Had to goggle a bit, find another youtube of that, Suz, and it’s indeed Newport Fest, 1965, when Bob was booed for going electric!!! That’s the song that’s the set!!!
Way kewl!!! History in the making it was . . . *G*
its got the bbc logo in the corner is why i think its the manchester england show
i think its manchester… dayam memory
The vid I just watched from ’65 is identical to the one you ran, with the BBC logo . . .
Wierd, but it’s Newport, ’65.
Perhaps BBC ran the vid, someone taped it and youtubed it . . . .
And the MC, dude with the dark glasses, who’s sweating his shit and asking Bob to come back and play another song? He’s american, he’s the Newport MC (forget his name) . . . not live in Manchester, Newport, ’65.
GREAT CLIP SUZ!!!
You find the BEST stuff!!!
That was HISTORY being made, Bob went electric!! OH NOES!!!! SOLD OUT!!!
Too funny, now, huge issue for folk purists back then!
from the wiki (1966 link in the post)
On May 17, 1966, during the last leg of the tour, Dylan and his band performed at Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England. Just before they started to play the track, an audience member yelled “Judas!”, apparently referring to Dylan’s supposed “betrayal” of folk music. Dylan responded, “I don’t believe you. You’re a liar!” With that, he turned to the band, ordering them to “play it fucking loud”.[52]
i have great memories of those places, those other worlds, crazy coon-ass only white face in the joint, always had plenty of whiskey and made friendships that endure to this day when i think of all that great talent that no one ever heard of and the garbage that passes now it’s a great sadness tres mal.
Yep, I recall reading about that, it was a year after the Newport Gig . . . it’s a true story, not doubting that at all.
he turns his back to the audience after the booing and says something and they sure are playing it loud dood :)
my folks loved n/o but did not like the segregation etc. they were glad to move back to ca — a state with top rated schools etc.
Here’s The Newport ’65 Clip
Same clip! *G*
dang larue — now i don’t know.. they are the same clip but mine does have that bbc thingie.
tis a puzzlement but it is either 65 or 66 when he was setting the music world afire…
Also, when Bob played England, I don’t think Bloomfield and Kooper went with him. Youtube has an English ’66 clip, and it’s not Bloomfield And Kooper, at all, other english musicians, and likely the time he said what you are quoting . . . . Heres The English ’66 Clip
Slower pace, too.
dang… my bad …. amazing audio quality so i thought it had to be the clip filmed by the bbc at manchester
Yep, like I said the BBC logo is someone youtubing off of a BBC broadcast of the Newport ’65 performance.
But the clips are identical, and Bloomfield and Kooper didn’t make the trip across the pond.
The ’66 clip is likely the one from Manchester . . . *G*
Sorry for going on so long about it, it’s just something I’ve obsessed with, Bloomfield, Kooper, Dylan et al for decades. I was confused at first with the BBC logo, but when I found the Newport clip, I knew I had to watch them both start to finish . . . that’s really what clued me in . . . that you posted the clip is what’s got me all fahred up!!!
LOVE that clip!!!! *G*
As always, you have good taste in music . . . ;-)
thanks larue — i fixed the 1966 mistake in the post to 1965
i appreciate it larue. you know much more about music than i ever will :)
defacto is still segregation and i’ll put my Jesuit education up against anyplace’s it the quality and the parents that make the difference up here in many ways it’s worse because of the whole down low routine. in those little backwater places i went to it was about the music and long as you didn’t act a fool it was all good.
Dang, just scrolled up a bit and saw some of the linky’s!
What A Dif A Day Makes! One of my faves, YOU Suz pulled out some Tom T Hall, one of MY favs!
Dang, wonder what I missed with the FIRST 100 comments!!! lol
Another live and lively LLN Musical Journey!!!
when we moved to n/o i remember there was a huge fuss because my parents refused to let me go to 1st grade at a segregated school — they ended up driving me every day to and from a school not in our neighborhood.
No, You’ve got areas like I have areas, you got stuff I’ve never heard of!!! *G*
Like the LLN crew, from Kelly and classic to all the others, put together it’s a stroll thru history, it’s a history lesson, and well, yer the MOST Excellent Hostess of it all with your OWN solid niches.
You can run headbangers like Robin Trower around me all night long and I’ll just have that dump deer in headlights look “Oh yeah, I remember that name” and the musicians were all OVER the radio and I don’t remember them!!!!
*G*
attaturk’s post will be going up shortly. ’bout time for me to head out.
thanks for all the music, memories, and chat tonight.
g’nite all
I’m beginning to wish I’d gotten in on this thread from the get go, you sound like a picker!!!!!
FUCK — i did it again — that 200 shudda gone to one of you and not me
thanks larue
*poofing for realsies*
Wow, it’s 1:16 here, time for ME to run also . . . nite Pups that are still lingering.
Wish I’d tuned into this one earlier . . . ah well, sptatt, hope to cross comments about music with you some more in the near future!!!!
Too, Forking, Funny!!!!
HAHA!!!
Makes my night . . . *G*
Hey, Yer The Hostess, the Deuce BELONGS to you!!!! ;-)
*poofsies2*
Busy working on the computer tonight and I missed all the wine’ing!
Now it’s time for some sleep …
it is with great sadness i remember those years, i also remember Father Marcellus standing at the door of the church shaking every man’s hand. the greater sadness is that the politicians in service to the moneyed interests play those same games today north and south. that is what the spectacle is really about the fear of the other and using that fear to control the masses bin Laudin is alive today because they didn’t want to kill the boogey man why invent a new one toodles y’all
We’ve always been at war with Eastasia, or was that Eurasia?
night all – be well
bombing brown since forever
I love the Trower. I highly recommend his latest album with Jack Bruce, “7 Moons”. Lovely, bluesy stuff.
hey batmensch — glad ya liked it — will look for the new album – thanks
