What’s on your mind tonight?
Aloha, ES…!
Zed then CT and ES how’s tricks?
mega poodles!
Eureka!
g’evening ES & Pups!
*Heh* You’ve been my nemesis the past couple of nites, bb…! ;-)
Btw, this is some serious MustSee TeeVee…!
Good Mega evening everyone..)
Dude bring techno-pop to the Poodle-House.
If you have too much cream, make butter…)
Strawberry-rhubarb pie here. Pass your plates.
Good evening, guys.
Aloha, Ma’am…! Are the slopes of Haleakala just as soggy as Hilo town…?
Oh my, that sounds fantastic.
ES and everyone!
i dug part of my record collection outta my storage unit today, my 26-yr-old daughter loves vinyl and she was thrilled with the cover of Cream’s Disraeli Gears. I call her my little neo-hippie *g*
Won’t load for me. Is it about Massa?
here!
Awww. I have thousands of records…. including most original issue cream albums.

Col. Wilkerson skewering Turd Blossom and Co. on Countdown tonite…! ;-)
Yes!
Clay Stones?
*heh* Same choice of words, bro…! ;-)
Wilkerson, for all his faults, including not seeing the forest during his time on Powell’s staff, is hard to refute.
And he positively hates the Bushies.
Oh it just loaded.
Wow.
i only have two or three milk crates of albums left after depredations of ex-boyfriends and brothers in my youth. They left the good stuff, like my coltrane albums *g* altho i’m still pissed at my ex-husband for selling my copy of jerry jeff walker’s first album. Ass.
The good colonel calls em like he sees em. Your out of their you cowards. They got the money call me what you wanta. Rove is digging for cover. So how does America get a cleaned reputation…the CIA sends in ‘Cleaners’. Tarnished forever like the Spanish Inquisitors its history folks.
He certainly came out swinging… ‘Cowards, every one of ‘em…’ ;-)
Very cool. Have you introduced her to The Animals first album? My son actually has them on his IPod.[I was pleasantly surprised to learn he'd downloaded my CD].
I listen to so much online these days. My own music is collecting dust.
Not enough time in the day I tell ya.
Interesting he mentioned those who were thrown out of the army… not those war criminals who we executed for waterboarding.
Awesome!! I love our new High Speed Internet. It’s so much better to watch their faces than read their words. Great catch.
Jail Rove.
So Monday afternoon the fate of Americans medical treatment will be sealed by the Dems as they sell of an extra 10 years of life for insurance and Pharma profits. Any way to describe this but rotten inhumane sociopaths.
I think he was careful to cite the historical record… No US officers were ever executed for waterboarding, unlike the Japanese officers that were summarily executed for it after WW II…!
Uh,…hate to sound like a newbie..but, if you have high speed do you have to keep hitting Refresh for new comments? Cause I can’t find Refresh anymore.
And the House progressives are going to usher it through unless our cane raising works miracles over the next few days.
Pinch me … i’m in bizzaro world.
We’ve got this HUGE multi-thousand disc LP collection that was donated to us at UAA, sitting in boxes, some still sealed, behind the organ niche. I got a tour back in December. All I gotta do is go to Costco and pick up one of those 33RPM turntables with a USB port, and I can triple my record collection at my leisure. If only I had the fucking time!
Oh yes, that’s what I meant… we executed folk for the offense.
I have half speed… but, yes, I think you do.
“Some of our best friends are ‘rotten inhumane sociopaths’.
-The Senate
I know, I have been threatening to try and figure out the transferring for years…. it was the reason I bought a win machine system back in ’95.
Worst 5k i ever spent.
These guys can’t wait to get back into power. Obama gave them the key to Fort Knox, they emptied it with a free pass from Big O and skate. Now they plan to throw him under the bus as they run the table in November ready for the retaking the white house. It’s the plan man.
Oh, man. Thanks for sharing! Lawrence just keeps getting better and better.
My pleasure, credit to tuttle.
I can beat that for a bad $5K decision, but I really should find the time to transfer some of this stuff. My JS Bach collection on CD is deficient, then there’s ……
What do you know about – Portugal The Man… a band from Wasilla? Former student of yours?
I figure at 73 my best efforts are for health so I moved in the the leg press machine and the weightlifting rack and 400 pounds of iron so I have a gym in the living room. Lost weight doing the Hot yoga for three months so packing on some muscle tissue.
Rove is a super jerk. Limbaugh is a socio.
Hey I got 50 where is the pay window?
Yeah, unfortunately, I’m thinking he already knew the plan and has been practicing his rolls. Land gracefully. Become a Spokesman for some think tank. But, I tend toward cynical. I could be wrong.
He may just be inept.
Zach’s house – or, his parents’ -is five houses from ours. ET Jr. played some sub gigs with them on bass about three years ago. I think he missed a chance to play with them a lot – he’s a great lead for their style -when he began playing with Static Cycle in 2008. ET Jr. went up to Portland to visit with them last Thanksgiving, and introduced them to Sally Ford’s band while he was there.
I’m not a big fan, though.
Newly divorced Rove is thinner and
tanshowing more pigment.Seem you are thinking very clearly. Makes a lot of sense. My bet is he becomes the head fundraiser for the RNC! S)
evening, ES – firegods
Evening PPDCUS
Ha! I knew you must know them if from Wasilla.
They make great vids from time to time, but their audio is usually lacking in quality.
nite pups.
Nope. No rain for a couple of days.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Went off to eat dinner.
nite, sunny. Best dreams.
I quit watching Countdown since Lawrence O’Donnell turned into such a shit. Even stopped watching Rachel, because I couldn’t be sure I was going to get Kool-Aid-free time.
I wish they’d evoke the Beatles more. Three local bands have relocated to the Portland area over the past five years. PtM’s doing the best. When they first started jamming together in their first incarnation, I could hear them practicing from my house. All the time.
Is the addition of the Student Loan thing-y an attempt to buy off liberals [into voting for the health care mess]? [Those few remaining that might actually vote against it.]
Tweety must be putting something in their coffee. /s
You should watch that clip, M’dear…! ;-)
No, please don’t, encourage him.
The planet don’t need technohop any more than they need rap, spoken word or any other misbegotten ill formation of music, voice and hands on instruments.
We just don’t need it.
I asked jane about that earlier this week… and she didn’t seem to think it was a problem.
I’m so confused about reconciliation procedure.
Now THAT was great music!!!!
I like yer kin!!!
How ya doin, hope da eyes are better . . . .
LOL,
With me, bigbrother you should never know what to expect.
If you insist.
I admit Lawrence can be good, and I’d always liked him in the past, but sine he’s gone over to The Dark Side [pro-Obama health care crap], I just don’t like to see him using his skills for that end.
art is art
sometimes i look at the Mona Lisa and think it’s beautiful, and other times dreadful
i like my mozart and am indifferent to brahms
and so are you
My bet is he works for some International/ Turkish Lobby heavy nuclear proliferation study team. I go dark. :]
Can you talk more about that?
I had thought, from the recent whip counts, that there might actually be a chance of the House not being able to pass the Senate bill.
Then when I saw the proposal to add the Student Loan stuff, I thought, “oh, they’re going to add this to make it more difficult for Dems to vote against the Health Care Bill [because now it's got Student Loan relief in it].”
Did she speak to this at all?
MM, this very thought crossed my mind too…! ;-)
My question to her was short, similar to yours in a thread when she first announced fdl action supporting the student loan work.
Her answer was very short… not worried about it at the time.
I think the House has already passed it and it just needs a vote in the senate… and somehow, if all the totals come in under the Byrd rule $$$ limit, one does not have to trump the other.
I agree. However, my kids played a Brahms’ Lullaby in their Suzuki violin time that is one of the most beautiful, simple pieces of music I’ve ever latched onto. It touches my soul. The rest of Brahms..not a fan.
Wait, weren’t we talking about the possibility of an Abercrombie retirement in the middle of last year? Could be that the failure to get HC done by August, or October, or the Christmas break (all long-passed targets that Obama laid out) was simply too much failure for Abercrombie to tolerate.
The stylus will burn out after the first fifty tunes.
Is there plans and product for a new stylus?
And if so, what’s the cost?
*G*
Cuz they getcha one way or another, coming or going.
I stand with my first comment. *G*
I thought about that too. My styli used to last a couple hundred albums.
True, and he will be Hawaii’s next Guv…! ;-)
Art is not art, it’s in the eye of the beholder.
And I’ve known beholders who didn’t know art from crap.
I stand with my personal opinion.
*G*
What I had heard [and clearly this demonstrates a need for a diary by those guys on this] was that the only way Student Loan stuff was going to get through was by reconciliation. And that, initially, they were forced to “choose” between using reconciliation [you only get one shot] for either health care or student loan reform.
No choice there [for them] — health care.
Then they came up with this plan to add student loan reform to the health care reconciliation “sidecar,” i.e., get a “two-fer-one.”
Pelosi’s now saying “no public option in the House,” so from where I’m sitting it’s looking like the El Crapo Senate bill + student loan clean-up. That would be what the House would be asked to vote on.
With all those nifty “fixes” to be attended to the very next day. Snerk.
They ain’t what they used to be, I don’t think, let me know if you find out different!!!
I’m this close to a low end turntable/stylus and usb port to a separate hard drive for all my musics.
This close, meaning, with no money there’s no way it will happen but the plans are in place!!!
lol
Aren’t they trying to gerry-rig Abercrombie’s retirement so he’ll be around to vote on the mythical Health Care Bill?
He’s got a real Wasilla Quitter problem, particularly since Hawaii’s claiming it’s too broke to hold a special election for his replacement.
yeah it is… and I generally don’t take to much of what you dislike as well (rap, techno, hip hoppy spoken word which I often can’t understand).
But that second video, imo, is high art on several levels. And the first song is just feel good fun.
We the people will be lucky if we get THAT much out of this mess.
It’s all a huge drive to please the corporate owners of our elected offals.
We the people are gonna get hosed, big time.
Shit’s gonna bust loose, sooner than later, because this pressure on we the people just can’t last.
Boiling point is coming soon.
Hmmm.
Dayen and Walker have been writing about it as well.. I didn’t have time to read all of them today. Might be some clues there.
Oh, I was NOT speaking of tonite’s choices, but responding to other comments.
In REGARDS to tonite’s vids, they are nice, but I don’t follow those genres.
*G*
As I understood reconciliation, previously, yes it’s a one shot per session deal, but, not limited in the amount of legislation that can be piled into the one omnibus bill…!
I have no excuse. It is a complete university level collection of classical music. Sitting there in boxes.
Our kettle needs to whistle long and hard all of next week.
To the phones… and email your friends to do the same.
That’s what I thought, thus their Brilliant Plan to let Student Loan Reform jump in the sidecar.
The limit is the amount… 1 trillion I think is the Bird rule reconciliation bill limit.
Unless HC, student loans, and all else comes in under a trillion… something has to go.
But this is precisely what I don’t understand.
Up until two days ago, my phone message would have been, “don’t vote for that piece-of-crap health care bill.”
Plus, “you go, Dennis Kucinich. Stand up to these immoral bastards. C’mon you members of the Progressive Caucus. You signed a letter saying you wouldn’t vote for something without a strong public option. Well, they’re giving you this junk, with NO PUBLIC OPTION, so vote against it.”
Now I’m supposed to do a complete 180 and urge its passage because it’s got the student loan clean-up?
That sound you hear is me slapping my head in confusion.
Oh no….
We have to do our best to kill the bill/demand a PO.
So, are we calling Congress Monday? I’ve got time. Fuck, I hate the sense of futility in the process !! Like buying Lotto tickets to supplement your financial future. Just in case you might win, cause if you don’t buy a ticket you’re not going to win…… Because some people do win….we just don’t know any but their stories are on TeeVee.
Yay, TEAM !!! /S/
Well, if you’ve got any “pull” with the FDL Powers That Be, perhaps you can pass on the state of confusion out here in at least some quarters, and ask that they clarify.
I set the day aside to do just that.
You do know about the whip list?
Wait a minute: could I get the magic 100?
Same here. I have just steeled myself to endure what comes of it all. (Like I have another choice!)
Rats.
This is to be taken with a large grain of salt, but as I understand it:
If you’re betting that Rahm has done his job (yes, that is irony), you bet that the HC bill will pass. And the student loan leg needs to be part of the reconciliation package, else it has to wait until next year because of some rule (not a law, but a rule).
So what would, under other circumstances be a poison-pill to the HC leg, becomes something good out of a pile of crap.
And this may be entirely incorrect.
And no, I do not understand why the student loan package cannot be passed as a stand-alone.
I’m sure it will be most every post topic or more all weekend.
We’ll get some answers.
Sorry about that…)
I think…
Because it’s a budget matter in a budget bill. And because it has to pass very quickly to do any good this year/next school year at all.
Right. Something about not being able to do another reconciliation until April of next year.
Yeah. I’m excited because I can do it with high speed. All these lonely years I paid for unlimited long distance and sat by myself with my phone and my clipboard.
Now I haz frens !!! :]
It is difficult to understand.
I read the diaries here each morning on the whip count, and recently they were looking like the bill could be defeated.
Although it’s looking like Pelosi has caved to the WH, so I’m sure she, Rahm, Steney [that snake], Obama and Bo the Dog are all lobbying hard for this “win.”
Perhaps Jane’s thought is to try to create a win-win situation out of this pile of steaming turds: add the student loan clean-up to the rotten bill. If it passes = yea!! At least we got SOMETHING out of this horrid bill.
If it fails, yea, because the rotten health care bill failed. [Then perhaps they could use their One Time Only Reconciliation Card for student loan stuff.]
That’s my late night guess.
Please send prize to my house.
I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
It’s mine, precious..)
Aloha.
Me too.
I know what you mean… for years I had to get offline to be able to use the cell phone…. now I can do both.
I’m out as well…
Good night fabulous fighting firedogs.
Night CT and everyone.:)
nite eureka
Student loan reform has to pass this year. Absolutely. Let’s hope it ends up as reform in the end. And we have to fix the financial Mafia Loans the current/past group of students are buried under. We can’t forget them, they’re our next generation of professionals. Everything else in this ball of bullshit twine activates in 2014, yes? Except the mandatory payments to insurance companies, right? Or do payments become part of our life soon, but the benefits activate in 2014? Fuck that.
We can’t let this happen on our watch without a serious fight.
Also
As I look at the top of the page, I see the FDL ad is encouraging us to lobby the SENATE with regard to the Student Loan fix. As I recall, the House has already passed this; it’s the Idiot Senate that’s standing in the way.
Thus the only way to get it through the Senate is as part of the health care “fix”/reconciliation/sidecar: put it in there to have/force the Senate to pass it, and, since it’s already passed the House, this portion won’t be a problem.
Again, this further demonstrates the need for guidance by folks with brains.
I am at or beyond the limit of my understanding about all of it.
Hence, the Democrats have, with historic leadership, managed to create the worst possible set of policy and electoral circumstances for themselves.
I believe the man behind their strategy must be Karl Rove – the interests of Republicans could hardly have been better served.
Good night. My brain hurts. I spent hours reading, catching up on events for 2 days. I still don’t understand what’s happening in REAL terms.
Except for the Eric Massa thing.
nite hope
me too
Here’s how it’s done:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2fiSfw4pZ8
The original (and best) version of “Who Do You Love” (1964) was by The Sapphires, a soul group from Philly. Here’s a low quality YouTube rendition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD3IIeukmxc
Good morning. Anyone up?
Good morning, pups. Ms. Collins is off today, so it’s Mr. Blow and Mr. Herbert. Ms. Collins is off today. In “Don’t Tickle Me, Bro!” Mr. Blow reminds us (as if any sane people needed reminding) that sexual harassment is no laughing matter. In “Big Brother in Blue” Mr. Herbert says a pair of City Council leaders want the N.Y.P.D. to abolish its database of innocent New Yorkers.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got apple cranberry muffins this morning. After the rain and the warmer temperatures the pansies have perked up, and we’re getting redwing blackbirds and a few goldfinches. It looks like spring has finally arrived — one of my azaleas has started to bloom too. Have a great day.
Good morning Marion. We’ve had some spring weather, too, finally. But it’s 37 and raining today, bummer. I’ve seen one goldfinch and a couple of redwings, but the regular blackbirds mobbed the feeders yesterday and ate me out of house & home. And that included Cahnstance cowering on the back porch, within 20 feet of the feeders, but she didn’t go after the birds. Also my mockingbird showed up yesterday. As I recall Savannah, there’s a mockingbird on every telephone pole.
Mockingbirds everywhere, and mourning doves in droves. Last year we didn’t see that many mourning doves, but more Eurasian collared doves, a larger introduced species. Glad the mourners are back.
The mourners drive me nuts; I do not like their call at all. But they’re back. At my latitude, the mockingbirds are pretty spread out, so I have only one near the house. His name is Cookie. Now that’s a song I can listen to forever. Once, years ago, I got serenaded for 45 minutes while I ate dinner on the back porch.
Good morning to the few who are up. Overcast and drizzly here in CNY. But the temps on the rise and the snow is melting so I’ll not complain.
I was just at DKos and read Grayson’s diary about his bill for a public option (medicaid buy-in). And it occurs to me that Durbin said he’d whip the P.O. if Pelosi included it. He didn’t say he’d try if it was introduced independently. Bullshit promise.
