Quick check-in after making a almost burned pan of pork chops. Turned a disaster about to happen to a success fulfilled.

It ain’t burned, only deeply caramelized! (Paul Paul Prudhomme would have been pleased!) A bit to bitter, so add some sugar. Ooops, not quite right. Add some Balsamic vinegar. Marvelous!

Now, I’ll bet you I can’t reproduce it in a 1000 years!

I did almost the same thing about 30 years ago. Saved that with some cold wine.

I do my friend just painted a large mural on High School wall sent me some samples. it is life in the offshore kelp beds so beautiful so many life forms hanging out in there just awesome and is part of an education program. I helped her breakdown her art show at the VETS Hall several months ago. Her husband plays in the band so much talent in one family with two dynamite young boys that are into cleaning up th beaches! Next gen bring em on baby! She may follow Wylan’s footsteps the whale mural guy who lives in Maui.

I live “up-country,” on the side of the volcano, at about 2500 ft.

CT, what on earth do you do to feed your brain on the Big Island? I’ve been here two years, and it’s so intellectually barren.

No book club(s), few decent movies, one good bookstore, no theater, few concerts. It feels like what I imagine rural Idaho is like, but with fewer guns. Equal number of dogs and trucks, however.

Stationed at Diamond head USMC 1956 amazed by the flash showers. Then sunshine, just stand under a roof for a few minutes and poof gone. Hawaii is so unique.

Nice I have probably driven by your house up to the top. Lot of interesting flora and fauna hiding residences. Lahaina lots of Hotels tourists golf courses. I had a time share for a week liked the local market south a ways.

Hi folks ! Looks like I missed the fun. Tonight I made pad Thai from scratch.
I should make it for my mom and sister when they visit this summer.
I never had Thai food growing up on Vulcan. I think they will like it too. I’ll send ‘em home with rice noodles and kaffa lemon leaves.

Yums. I experimented with making tom kha soup this year. Easy and delish, but locating ingredients was tough – took forever to run down galangal and lime leaves. Got em in the freezer now!

Made me wonder what the local restaurants do.
