Thanks for bringing up the Goldstone Report Laura. Blog clogs in our MSM about this and on many so called progressive blogs. Alleged progressive websites are almost as closed down as the MSM on this critical issue.

Although I understand your frustration, I disagree with your contention that none of the big shots at fdl will touch issues connected with the ramifications of militant Zionist expansionism.

I first started commenting at fdl in 2005. From then until after the 2006 Hezbollah War, one couldn’t even spell out A-I-P-A-C without going into moderation here. Some longtime writers here, most notably Siun, have written dozens of columns on I/P issues that are forthright, thoughtful and provocative. During Operation Cast Lead fdl covered the illegality of the attacks as well as any blog. At that same time DailyKos refused to let several diaries that were highly recommended be put onto their rec list. I know, partially, because one of the diaries that went into limbo was mine, which I also posted here.

Although several of fdl’s main writers rarely or never write about I/P issues, I’ve seen essays that went into that area when it intersected with the other main interests of the fdl writers.

What kind of crap are you talking about. These two situations are not even similar and you know it. The Israeli government is intentionally trying to build on land that they know is not theirs.

This story is being covered on Tikkun and the Huffington Post, where Max Blumenthal posted several ugly videos of Bibi and Hagee. Israel has declared political war on the Obama-Biden administration. By rallying Hagees demented troups, Netanyahu is thumbing his nose in Biden’s face and stating boldly and brazenly – I will bury you!

Other blogs are saying that Israel is deep into regime change in Washington. Sad thing, Israel has never been more popular in the US – with about 61% approval, but they are all Republicans and the neocon right. The remaining 39% are Democrats and progressives. Too bad that FDL is not out in front on this crucial issue.

Of course Jerusalem belongs to Israel, as does the West Bank. To whom else would it belong? Israel took it from Jordan in a defensive war after Jordan launched an attack on Israel during the Six Day War of 1967. From 1948 to 1967, when Jordan held the West Bank, nobody was claiming that Jordan was illegally occupying land that was supposed to be part of a Palestinian state. If Jordan wasn’t an illegal occupier, why is Israel? There might be people who claim that it is politically unwise for Israel to build in the West Bank, but that’s not the same as arguing that it is illegal under international law.
Perhaps Mexico will object to a housing project in Los Angeles. Mexico can at least claim that it once had sovereignty over California. The so-called Palestinians have no such claim.

I noticed in several of your posts that you like to reference other nations when you make your argument for Israeli actions against the Palestinians regarding East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Example, England and Africans, or Mexico and California. The question should be asked is how did the Jewish people mangage to get into Israel after they were supposedly decimated by the Germans following World War II. Because if history serves me correctly there was a lot of foreign assistance to get them there. As for the Six day war I think that this was instigated by the Israeli government so that they could get control of East Jerusalem and the West Bank as well as the action that they instigated against Syria to gain control of the Golan Heights. I know that history is normally written by the victors of wars, However the bottom line is that Israel is wrong and any attempt to justify their actions by you or anyone else is also wrong.
