  • Willard: from moderate to wingnut.
  • Would there be this much drama around an effective chief of staff?
  • Only because they got caught.
  • How progressives made health care reform stronger.
  • Hilarious.
  • You must see this righteous smackdown of Orrin Hatch.

To be honest, I don’t know if there would be as much drama around an effective chief of staff but at this point, I’d settle for a DEMOCRATIC chief of staff…

I always labored under the impression that if you were a really effective chief of staff nobody knew your name. Silly me.

I guess that in the new universe we find ourselves in post Bush, “effective” means, “loudmouthed”, “belligerent” and “demagoguing”. The damage that the Republicans have done to our nation is apparent but that damage permeates reality. The properties of carbon dioxide are now an opinion, compromise means to strip everything Democratic out of any bill and replace with tax cuts, “strong defense” means preemptive, elective war and trickle down theory is now conventional wisdom. The world has gone completely insane.

The article Rahm wrote in THE SHILL is quite cognitively fascinating. Those clever netrooters are playing 11-dimensional tiddly-winks.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/85353-unrest-in-democratic-party-plays-out-in-emanuel-controversy

The culprits behind those stories are not Emanuel or those who support him, Democratic strategists say, but instead the liberal Netroots crowd disgusted by what they view as appeasement to the center.

But Rahm has got his own personal shills, such as Uber-corrupt-lobbyist Lanny Davis. I predict a ringing endorsement very soon by Mark Rich and Cass Sunstein. These four are D’s, but they all are war profiteers. Most Public Propaganda companies, such as Burson Marstellar, in Dee Cee were secretly paid to pimp the Irak War. Of course Lanny Davis publicly pimps for Dictators.

Those kind of attacks have led centrists in the party to defend Emanuel, even former Clinton senior administration official Lanny Davis, a fan of the public option but someone who says that he and Emanuel did not get along in the White House. (“That is an understatement,” Davis said.).

Davis served with Emanuel in the Clinton White House for 14 months, and Davis said that while he has not always been a fan of Emanuel’s, he is a “big fan of his strategy for the president.”

Emanuel understands, Davis said, “the value of getting something done as opposed to being ideologically pure.”

In other words, NO SHORTS, NO SHOES, NO LIBERALS.

“Without Rahm Emanuel, there would be no House Democratic majority,” Davis said. “We would have Speaker [John] Boehner [R-Ohio]. That is a fact that the left does not seem to care about.”

Without Rahm, the sun don’t shine and the birds don’t sing and THE LEFT is the true cause of all problems. This is only page one of the SHILL’s article. There are three more pages which I have not read yet. Someone could make quick Diary about the latest attack on progressives.

Bullshit! Without Rahm we would have a much greater majority, much sooner and the damage wouldn’t have been nearly as great as it is. On the other hand, people like Lanny Davis, Mark Penn and etc., have no interest in even dealing with reality, much less reality based liberals.

Good morning.

What’s going on with Eric Massa? I was without news for 2 days.

And that list of HCR achievements by progressives looks a lot like the 2 million jobs the stim has saved.

Besides, I remember Joe LIEberman just recently saying that he wanted to derail any chance at a public option because “liberals want it”, but WE’RE the bad guys??? When was the last time a liberal got up on the floor of either house of congress and said, “I’m not going to support this legislation and I will help Republicans block it because ‘centrist Democrats’ want it”? This goes right back to the new universe we live in where words have all new meanings and logic doesn’t apply.

Yes, that new up-is-down universe has remarkable staying power.

Lanny Davis as Democratic strategist.

Rahm Emanuel as mastermind of 2006 midterm successes (what are they smoking?)

Obama really wants what the liberal base wants but bends to pragmatism in the end…

Blue Texan is right, if Rahm is so effective and Obama’s pragmatism so pragmatic, why is it that a year later, his “signature” issue is swinging in the wind and all we have is drama.

Today is also the day of the first job interview I’ve had in 14 months and unlike what Kyl and DeLay think, I really want and need this job. So here I sit in the full costume, Suit, stockings, warpaint, even silver and pearls, waiting for time to go. Rainy day here and nervous as hell. I just want it OVER!!! At least next weekend, I get to let my inner Hippie out to play.

Every year WMNF’s programming is all women related. The male programmers are replaced by females and all the current affairs shows except DemocracyNow! are done locally by women, about women. If ya read Bill Greider’s One World, Ready or Not there’s not much to be encouraged about.

Rahm is lie Karl Rove in three respects. They both love catastrophic policies; they both fight dirty; and they both think they’re geniuses.

And of course, Rahm will destroy the Democratic Party in the same way Karl destroyed the Pubs.

Had dinner on Sat nite with a niece who’s pretty lefty, and I thought reasonably well informed about D.C. goings on. She could not believe my version of Obama. It was a remarkably civilized conversation (we talked about many other subjects of common interest too), but I would detail a particular item, like HCR, she would look at me and simply say: I don’t believe that. Talk about not encouraging. When you can’t even get someone on your side to wake up & smell the coffee.

The world has gone insane? I think the American People like you that actually believed that Obama was going to “change” anything are finally beginning to wake up an smell the coffee and realize he is just like any other politician, He’ll promise to do anything to get into office at the same time lying out of the other side of his mouth. Go figure, you get what you pay for as they say! I’m laughing all the way!
