What’s on my mind? Not much, brain-dead after an intense big project at work this week. So i spent a cheerful afternoon chipping the last of the ice off my driveway while wearing a light jacket and no hat, listening to the cardinals trying to impress the lady cardinals by yelling WHEAT TOO! at each other. Lovely afternoon!
Still plenty of snow, but it’s maple syrup time. Bright days above freezing, nights below freezing. Snow is melting slowly, creeks are starting to run. “Course, the weather could change, you never know from year to year if there’s gonna be a good run or not. Baby Brother bottled i don’t know how many gallons of maple syrup last year, last year was pretty good.
My eye is still slowly healing, the vision fluctuates (still not usable, & my lens prescription no longer matches), i see the doc in 2 weeks, according to him it will be several more months of slow healing before we know where the vision level has stabilized. But, glory be, he has done miracles. And i’m not movement and activity restricted as of 2 weeks ago.
And how’s your mouth doing? (I’m merely getting a crown, i was thinking of you whilst in the dentist’s chair!)
still adjusting… dds said i am almost completely healed (takes a couple months) and i don’t have to go back for a recheck for a month. still working on defeating my gag reflex *sigh*
did everyone see mary mcc’s good news earlier today — ron did not have a heart attack and was released from hospital today. he has acid reflux really bad but his heart is fine.
Ironically, nobody will have a clear majority to rule… Some seriously odd bedfellows will have to arise to attain a governing majority…! I shall keep ya’ll informed as to what transpires, one way or another…! *g*
no, it’s held in Florida, but it’s kind of like I think it’s spring (almost) when the seed catalogs get here. Just a mental sigh that winter is over (almost).
aha — i was thinking it was local and so it must be one of those ice races i remember seeing on tv. buncha crazy fools speeding around a track on the ice trying to go as fast as they can… like i said, sports challenged
Honestly, I do believe Obama and Gates are truly determined to exit Iraq ASAP…! The MIC institutional pressure is the only thing holding them back…! For some strange reason or another…! 8-(
Wow that’s really beautiful. Would you use a touch more pedal in the middle section? Or maybe that’s a function of it being an old recording, being played over my computer speakers.
I’m unfamiliar with his intermezzi – thanks for the rec.
We got a 30-day reprieve from the governor, um doctors, today, too. They want to hold off on further surgery to see if the new meds work as well as they seem to preliminarily. Dad’s feeling pretty sprightly in the legs after having the angio procedure done on each leg three weeks ago. His circulation and blood pressure is much better, too.
So, we monitor him for 30 days and if there are no setbacks, they say no surgeries at this point! He meets with the heart surgeon Monday and then with the vascular surgeon the week after.
I drove home in the dark from a Surfrider board meeting in Arroyo Grande. We have a strategy meeting tomorrow for the year So I imagine it is a mudflat as could not see the lights reflecting from Morro Bay.
UN wants to ban catches of Blue Fin Tuna. Yeah.
i get what ya mean about mudflats. when the tide is out at night up here, there is not a lick of reflection on the bay. makes it darker than dark feeling.
Pedals were handy on the antique, pre-electronic versions of keyboards. You had a wide variety of volume possibilities: both loud and soft! Two whole settings.
*A tad soggy with my middlun hosting a bbq at Coconut Island, the better half and I are telling her party on… without us…! ;-)*
heh! Party poopers!
Is Coconut Island the little island that we watched on the Hawaii teevee during the tsunami watch? The one in Hilo Bay, on other side of that bridge?
We used to have big gatherings on St Paddy’ day… Didn’t hurt youngest daughter is same day… so.. oh and I grew up 1/4 mile from where the parade started in S. Boston…
Today I went to downtown Palo Alto and talked to 10 businesses about the upcoming gun rally. I told them they had a right to say no firearms and gave them copies of the policies of Peets and California Pizza Kitchen. Then I told them about the restaurant owner who hosted them in Feb and then regretted it.
I told the local media all this. It would be great if the group got there, went into the pizza place and was told that they weren’t allowed. That would be great if it was on camera. Then they would go to the yogurt place and they would be turned away there. Finally they will be forced to go to Starbucks because nobody else wants them. Sadly I can’t be there to watch and make sure the cameras catch their humiliation.
To create a successful narrative flip I would also need to have my one people there with the new narrative. I haven’t been able to do that yet.
But after talking to a lot of people about this issue they are often confused about the law. The gun toters use this confusion.
I really don’t want there to be a misunderstanding shooting for people to suddenly realize what a stupid idea this is.
One auto dealer told him that he supported people second amendment rights as long as they look “normal” I could have shown him a photo of the guy who shoot the people at the Pentagon yesterday. “Does this guy look normal? He just shot two people in cold blood.”
Tired see my comment. I know that what I’m doing is a self assigned action, but I get so frustrated that nobody is thinking about how to reframe and re-narrate the actions of the right wing.
But I will say that the restaurant owners all appreciated my alerting them and giving them some sort of template to deal with the armed men coming into their shops.
I explained. “It’s like your no shirt no shoes no service policies. Only it’s ‘no firearms.”
i think the no shirt no shoes no service = no guns is an excellent way to frame it spocko. i’m glad the business owners appreciated you taking the time to explain it to them.
An open carry group is having a meet up at lytton plaza in PA tomorrow from 11-1. They will be bringing their unloaded weapons (bullets on the belt but not in the guns) to the plaza and then go into restaurants and dessert places to help “celebrate” their 2nd Amendment rights.
Once more than I…! Keith pissed me off with his highly inebriated ‘performance’ at Aloha Stadium…! Good thing they had an adept protege to handle the key riffs…!
Hey in the Sunday SF Chron datebook they mention Lee Ro dgers getting fired. I got in the story as media blogger Spocko. Woot! Of course the managements comments have no credability since they have lied before about the impact that I and fellow bloggers had on them.
I’m glad I got Rodgers’ offensive quotes in the story.

“I saw the Stones in Boulder, CO. for Sticky Fingers, Steel Wheels in Foxboro, and Bridges to Babylon in Aloha Stadium…! ;-)”
:sticking tongue out: to you
I saw the Stones in Oakland Stadium, Bridges tour. Was way Awesome! I knew I liked the Stones, but when I knew the words to every song… well, it was quite a revelation! And you could get stoned just being in the stadium and breathing! ahhahahaha
One media blogger who goes by the name Spocko says Sussman is just as troubling. He says he has persuaded numerous companies to drop their ads from KSFO and charges Sussman with verbally bashing gays, war protesters and others.
I love this video! So an ex had a friend who was an art dealer in the Village and he sold prints by Ron Wood. He invited Wood to his son’s 10th birthday and he showed up WITH all of the Stones. He said they were all great people and even played a few songs.
Well they say they are working with the LEOs which is good because if anyone calls the police the police could say “oh it’s just those open carry people.” sounds like the perfect time for someone to stage a real robbery.
Thanks. I know there is more to firing Rodgers than little ol’ me. I wrote a whole post on all the factors.
But I want the rest of the progressive community to get that we can successful hurt them. Of course they won’t admit it. I said I wish that his firing and Morgans came to open court we could learn all sorts of stuff.
But it will never happen.
I wonder how many of this open carry group are black. Someone suggested I contact the gang bangers and tell them to show up to “celebrate” their 2nd amendment rights. I don’t know any so I couldn’t.
zero would be my bet. i’m sure the pa cops appreciate the fact that you don’t and didn’t.
dayam this whole thing could go so sour so quickly. tis gonna be a clusterfuck from start to finish. this kinda shit makes me glad i’m retired and don’t have to put up with these fools.
i wonder if pa has any municipal ordinances regarding firearms and carrying.
Good morning, pups. It’s Mr. Herbert solo, since Ms. Collins and Mr. Blow are off today. Mr. Herbert, in “Cops vs. Kids,” says it’s time to rein in the way police and safety officers in New York public schools mistreat students.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got waffles with warm maple syrup. It’s below freezing again today. I was talking with one of the docs in our practice who has a lot of elderly patients. He was telling me that his patients in their 80s and 90s say that they can’t remember a winter as cold as this one. Ever. Hoping for spring, I wish you a good day.
Recently got a copy of the 40th anniversary ‘Get Your Ya’s Ya’s Out’ CD/DVD. It’s a bit pricey, but damn it’s good. The DVD is a five song ditty with the boys (startlingly young) in top form. It starts with a terrific Prodigal Son and ends with a satisfying Satisfaction. Hendrix is seen strumming and talkin’ guitars with Kieth backstage and Joplin is dancing in the wings. Makes you wish you’d been at ol’ Madison Square that night.

Ooo, I remember that.
I imagined myself making that, but lacked the guts.
hey ndfg — sounds like spring is just around your corner. how’s your eye doing?
Aww, thanks. I have been working a little bit on the Chopin A-flat Ballade lately, but I really need to devote some more time to it.

Abbott: “Can’t you see he’s got a gag in his mouth?”
Costello: “Well if he does, he never got a chance to tell it.”
yikes! i hadn’t heard the first news, but i’m glad it wasn’t a heart attack. {{{ mary & ron }}}
hey emerson — how ya doing dood? *laughing*
Oh thank goodness!
Scanned it and noticed 2011 USA troop pullout might be cancelled. Ya think!
When we gonna get a leach on these wars?
That is WAY good news for Ron and the Senator. They have had a wee bit on their plates already.
iirc she came into the ln thread yesterday scared shitless — ron in hosp and docs were talking bad heart problems like congestive heart failure.
he had the stress test today and good news all the way around.

Good morning, pups. It’s Mr. Herbert solo, since Ms. Collins and Mr. Blow are off today. Mr. Herbert, in “Cops vs. Kids,” says it’s time to rein in the way police and safety officers in New York public schools mistreat students.
