Seems a little early to go against Obama since Gibbs said Monday that the administration supports her. Of course this might be because Obama never makes conservatives pay a political price for crossing him.

Probably part of the incumbent running as an outsider triangulation that will almost certainly become more popular as the year wears on.

I LOVE her talking out of both sides of the mouth strategy. She brags to conservatives about her conservative corporatist history, and attacks her primary opponent for not being liberal enough (but still FAR more than her.)

I especially like the delicate “lady-font” the ad uses for the word AGAINST. She votes against things, but in a proper and non-argumentative way.

Except, of course, when she’s actually lying about her againstedness.

The only “logic” behind this ad is that Lincoln thinks Republicans will forsake their own crowded primary to vote for her since it’s open.

No GOP will want to waste a vote in the Democratic primary. There are two many exciting choices on their side, and the real possibility of victory. I can’t see Operation Chaos in Arkansas.

Ads that aren’t true provide fodder to opponents, so there’s an informal rule to not lie in an ad.

If ads had to be true the McCain/Palin campaign would have had some real problems.

It is possible though, that they were not expecting a primary challenge, and had already made several ads for the general. Then when he announced the other day (and got all the accompanying press), they felt they had to get “something” up on the air, and this was best they had since no real primary ads had been made.

This is obviously an ad that was made for the general election.

At least it looks like that to me. BT exposed all of it’s flaws as a primary ad.

A bit O/T but there is one very troubling aspect to Obama’s insistence that only the private health insurance business will be allowed to reimburse providers for health care related costs.

Since these insurers are a business what exactly happens with the money stream they receive, both from premiums and from investors in those companies. Presumably that aggregate pool of money is invested and the dividends go to its shareholders.

If so why should that be? Why do not the people that are paying premiums into that aggregate pool not also receive the dividends that accrue when their money is invested? What sense does it make to give someone your money for them to invest and you reap none of the reward?

It’s not like a bank where at least you get back interest on your deposits. With insurance you receive none of the dividends that is generated using your money.

Re this ad, my best guess is that she thinks she’s going to coast through the primary and has already started to run in the general. Can anyone vote in Democratic primaries in Arkansas, or are they closed to Democrats?

Remember what Reagan said? Nobody remembers what you say on TV, just get your smiling face out there. How many people will know she voted FOR the bank bailout bill? Very few. How many people will hear the brag about her voting against the Public Option? Only those paying close attention to what she’s saying. How many people will agree with her depictions of Congress and what’s going on in Washington? Everybody. That’s what they’ll be paying attention to. Damn good ad.
