Hey CT-
Better but less fun – could Lincoln’s numbers fall so sharply that she would back out? She sees half a million bucks come tumbling in to her opponent in one day – feels the urge to spend more time with…
I really don’t know, CT. Wish i had some sense of who he is and what kind of campaign he will run. have to say today was not a great start… except for the disaster known as Plantation Blanche and all her protection racket… maybe allowing them to self implode was part of the plan.
ES, nice catch of Scott Avett sangin solo without his bro. Caught them twice at Strawberry Music Fest in recent years, they have an INCREDIBLY unique sound, and add to that the sibling thing like Everly Brothers, etc, and it’s good stuff.
Scott does very well in that vid you chose!!! Nice and I’d not heard it!
He’s booked for tomorrow’s Ed Show and Rachel said he would be appearing with her, Rachel even extended an personal invite to Blanche…! Bwhahahaha…! ;-)
Hey Margot!
Monday grind, and surprisingly clear roads and pathways. Those 30′s temps really responded to salted roads and walkways. That said, I’m sick of winter now, and am longing for flowers!
Someone said (without a link) recently that no incumbent Senator with poll numbers as low as Harry Reid and Plantation Blanche has ever been reelected.
Imagine how pissed you would be if you had Difi/Boxer and Jackie Speier.
Warm congratulations, Chris. I mean that. Someone has to have decent representation, so it might as well be one of our own.
We have Band! We have a winner. Please come to the door and pick up your prize. Artist production and creativity. ES has to have art with the music good marriage.

I subscribe to nearly a thousand youtube channels now. This popped up a few days ago…and I knew i had to squeeze it in. When Avett popped up yesterday with a song of his own about divisiveness… I knew I had a post for us.
According to Talking Points Memo, the AFL-CIO just switched its support from Lincoln to Halter. The headline says “See Ya.”… and they pledge 3 million.

That would be lovely, especially so in Reid’s case.

Punaise, as one whose second child will be graduating from college in May [yippee], I suggest taking a look at the many colleges which utilize their endowments/scholarship funds to “pay” for kids with good grades and high board scores.
USC [California, not South Carolina] and Tulane are two that immediately spring to mind.
Son is graduating from USC. Since I attended two of its main rivals, I NEVER thought I would recommend the place, but I do, unhesitatingly. And they are quite generous with scholarship $$$ to those they want to lure away from “name” schools.
With Tulane, my daughter looked there, and my response was “no way,” but neighbor’s daughter got a full ride scholarship and LOVES it — for many good reasons.
good input, definitely consistent with some advice we’re getting. (although in the case of USC I’d have to set aside some sports rivalry prejudice – go Bears! :~). a good friend of ours did undergrad and masters in music there, is now an accomplished chef in the Napa valley.
I went to UCLA as well, so had to swallow hard when son’s #1 choice was USC.
But he’s a sports journalist, and his other options were Northwestern, Syracuse, UNC, Missouri and Kansas. I had to admit, USC was [and has been] the best choice for him.
And all my prejudices about sorority/fraternity life were unfounded. No need to join. Had a great social and academic experience.
When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn

Tell me tell me come on tell me the answer

Halter’s call to her
Halter’s call to her
Yeah, hu, hu
Look out cause there she goes
There’s terrific on-campus housing guaranteed for first two years. Son has lived within a block of campus for his last two.
Neighborhood is NOT that tough, especially as the campus + housing expand.
Of course, if you go wandering around drunk at 3 am, you might be putting yourself in a bit of danger.
Also, contrary to popular rumor, you CAN get along there without a car. Zipcar has expanded and has many cars on campus; bus service to downtown LA is cheap & easy; friends with cars can usually be found for further-flung needs.
Just be sure to ask lots of questions about the “Presidential Scholars” or other scholarship programs. You have to get your materials in early. PSATs/National Merit stuff is heavily weighted. But their replies and award letters tend to come out early too.

Anthrax-laced heroin killing users in Europe
12 have died after using tainted drug, authorities say
British health authorities repeated a warning to drug users on Monday that a batch of heroin contaminated with anthrax was probably circulating in Europe, posing a potentially serious health threat.
The Health Protection Agency said a second case of anthrax had been confirmed in an injecting heroin user in London, adding to two previous cases in England, 24 in Scotland and one in Germany. A total of 12 people have died in Europe of anthrax infection since the first cases emerged in Scotland in December.
European health authorities said in January they believed a batch of heroin was circulating in the region that had been contaminated with anthrax, a fairly common bacteria whose spores can be used as a biological weapon. Experts have said the heroin is unlikely to have been deliberately contaminated.
Rachel Heathcock from the London branch of the HPA stressed there was no evidence of person-to-person transmission in any of the recent anthrax cases and the risk to the general population, including those close to infected patients, was “negligible.”
“It is extremely rare for anthrax to be spread from person to person,” she said in a statement.
Anthrax is an acute infectious disease caused by spores of bacillus anthracis bacteria. It occurs most often in wild and domestic animals in Asia, Africa and parts of Europe.
Humans are rarely infected but touching contaminated hides or hair can cause skin lesions. If the spores are inhaled, the infection can take hold quickly and by the time symptoms show, it can be too late for successful treatment with antibiotics.
Lindsey Davies, a director of public health for the British capital, said heroin users needed to be aware of the risks.
“I urge all heroin users in London to be extremely alert to the risks and to seek urgent medical advice if they experience signs of infection such as redness or swelling at or near an injection site or other symptoms… such a high temperature, chills or a severe headache,” she said in a statement.
“This is a very serious infection for drug users,” she added. “Early antibiotic treatment can be lifesaving.”
The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), which monitors health in the European Union, said last month that other EU countries may be at risk.
“Considering the complex international distribution chain of heroin and the link among cases in Scotland and Germany, the exposure to a contaminated batch of heroin distributed in several EU member states is probable,” it said on its website.
But it added that it was also possible the German and English cases are due to small amounts of heroin originating from Scotland, “in which case other EU member states than UK and Germany might not be affected.”
Uh google Coke first I need more before I do a Diary but rich man’s drug gets buried in the news. There is a story here feel free to pick it up I don’t have the expertise or resources.
On the last day of August, media outlets around the country ran an Associated Press story reporting that nearly one-third of the cocaine in the country is tainted with a veterinary medicine, a de-worming agent called levamisole. According to the AP, the tainted cocaine is responsible for at least three deaths in the US and Canada, as well as sickening more than a hundred other people.
According to health authorities, the cocaine tainted with levamisole is linked to an unusual incidence of agranulocytosis, a condition of a suppressed immune system, whose symptoms include persistent sore throat, persistent or recurrent fever, swollen glands, painful sores, skin infections with painful swelling, thrush, and other unusual infections.
The DEA suspects that levamisole is being added as a cutting agent by Colombian drug traffickers. Researchers speculate that it may boost the cocaine high by acting as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, but there is of yet little research to support that.
While the cumulative death toll and illness count was news, the fact that cocaine is being laced with levamisole shouldn’t have been. Delaware public health officials issued a health advisory on levamisole-tainted cocaine in 2005, and British researchers reported in 2006 on 14 deaths in a one-year period from the tainted cocaine.
Levamisole is Not New
Although levamisole has been a known adulterant in cocaine since at least 2002,[SAMHSA 2009] on September 21, 2009, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) made the surprising announcement that levamisole had been found in “over 70 percent of the illicit cocaine analyzed [by the DEA] in July. In addition, a recent analysis in Seattle, Washington found that almost 80 percent of the individuals who test positive for cocaine also test positive for levamisole.”[SAMHSA 2009]
My Bold how much of our Elite never go to jail class because they have good lawyers is vulnerable? If the rumors about Bush are true do you expect him or other connected types with clout to ever appear on government statistics?
Sorry I can’t find more info.
Rich man’s drug is tainted. Rich men hide why their kids die. We have no real numbers yet until it gets to big to be ignored. I’m sure all the Bushies think they get the pure stuff. Sorry dealers say that to anyone paying a high price.
Still lowered immune system best healthcare they are a pot keeping disease we thought was gone alive. They make immune resistant disease not poor folks who get treated once in an emergency room and walk out never to take more Meds.
Who ditches free emergency room healthcare if they are told they will die?
Logically kids taking coke which they don’t know is killing their immunity system but get the best drug treatment create these diseases.
Is the bigger unspoken cause.
If the Lake wants to follow up feel free I was stupid to not comment on this earlier. Disease needs a reserve population to evolve past our inborn defenses and our medicine a population restricting their own natural defenses would be perfect to spread the disease and let it evolve past our defenses.
Given Coke’s price Meth is much Cheaper I hear and Crack is cooked with baking soda which lowers poor people’s exposure so we could see our elite class disappear because the flu vaccine was made for the wrong flu thanks to lower immunity in our coke using rich class.
Thankfully with the bad economy pure cut once coke use should be less.
Aloha, ES…!
Hey Eureka!
Evening CT
Yo newtonusr..)
Hey CT, ES, and Newt.
ES CT Newton hi all!
Do you think Halter has a chance in toppling Blanche…? ;-)
Aloha, WW and Margot…!
Hello back you guys.
ES, we’ve seen Scott Avett here before, no?
Or do I recall him from somewhere else?
Hiya All!
Hey CT-
Better but less fun – could Lincoln’s numbers fall so sharply that she would back out? She sees half a million bucks come tumbling in to her opponent in one day – feels the urge to spend more time with…
hey wigwam, margot.
I really don’t know, CT. Wish i had some sense of who he is and what kind of campaign he will run. have to say today was not a great start… except for the disaster known as Plantation Blanche and all her protection racket… maybe allowing them to self implode was part of the plan.
But he has got to say something.
Hi Chris and wigwam, how are you?
With his whole band… The Avett Brothers, yes, a couple of times over the years.
It’s tough to topple an incumbent in this country, especially with a popular president supporting almost all Democratic incumbents.
Bwhahahaha…! ;-)
Well, thanks. And you?
Hey Margot!
Monday grind, and surprisingly clear roads and pathways. Those 30′s temps really responded to salted roads and walkways. That said, I’m sick of winter now, and am longing for flowers!
That’s because it’s brand spankin’ new…)
Is it merely Obama doing Rahmbo’s biding…? ;-)
She’s really has nothing. Lying rich pearl-clutcher who avoids substance at all cost.
If I hear her say Arkansas values one more time I will certainly scream.

I wonder if that’s true?
LOL I bet they drank all of the chocolate milk shortly thereafter…)
actually that’s pushing the envelope a bit. Just say no to Fruit Loops.
I feel lucky to have Sherrod Brown as my Senator. And Dennis Kucinich as my Rep. That said, I’m fucking pissed off at everyone.
In CA
Fruit Loops – By prescription only
Imagine how pissed you would be if you had Difi/Boxer and Jackie Speier.
Warm congratulations, Chris. I mean that. Someone has to have decent representation, so it might as well be one of our own.
don’t even go near the Medicare doughnut, it’s tainted.
Thanks, love,
Holding out with fingers crossed. Nighters!
Well if Halter turns out to be the real deal… we Arkansans need your help.
Gives Krispy Kreme a whole new meaning.
OK! Let the good times roll ES.
I’m of the same mind as Chris: ready for flowers. Looking at seed catalogs and dreaming.
evening, firegods
Seed catalogues …. my favorite wish book this time of year.
Evening PPDCUS
I see we’ve been promoted.
We have Band! We have a winner. Please come to the door and pick up your prize. Artist production and creativity. ES has to have art with the music good marriage.

Hey bigbrother… bet it took a while to shoot that vid.
you’ve come a long way since being an ember-god.
Should I run over to kos and get my Hail O?
Really nice work where did you find it? Hi everyone…(let’s see 6 billion on Planet Earth or so)
Hey you folks from Arkansas stop screaming people are trying to get sleep. s)
Has anyone seen SunnyNobility in comments lately? Just wondering if she’s alright.
as long as it’s big and orange, sure.
I subscribe to nearly a thousand youtube channels now. This popped up a few days ago…and I knew i had to squeeze it in. When Avett popped up yesterday with a song of his own about divisiveness… I knew I had a post for us.
yellow/gray – very cool
no worries, ES — it’s Twilight of the Firegods
OMG! Is that punaise!Hey Dood!
It’s a senator’s only elevator – y’all just get the shaft.
;>)
omg, sound the alarm!
hey mary, long time no blog!
According to Talking Points Memo, the AFL-CIO just switched its support from Lincoln to Halter. The headline says “See Ya.”… and they pledge 3 million.
I figured you must be busy. How is your wife? And your kids? And your kitty?
Arrghh I clicked on that, when will I learn?
Better go make another pot of coffee, I don’t want to have bad dreams…
all intact, thanks for asking. we’re gearing up for the college quest with high school junior punaisette.
(edit: where are my manners): and how are things up Sacto way?
Does she have a special college in mind?
That would be lovely, especially so in Reid’s case.
Hey ES! I’m here.
Baskin’ in the joy of being a Virginia Foxx constituent…

probably top-tier liberal arts, CA or Pacific NW, although open to East Coast as well. not to be too boastful, but her main limitation on destination will be our moderate budget.
Wicked Witch of the East Fox?
Hi Sunny..) Glad you are alright…. Need some good lye soap for that Foxx matter though. Bless your heart.
Excellent selection, db.
I beat you are truly proud.
dead eyed wicked witch of the south foxx..
Sadly, so did I, M’dear…! DB is one slick twisted Canuck, eh…? ;-)
modestly so :~)
So, if Reid does lose who do you think would be Majority Leader…? Durbin…?
Here’s more on the union support for Halter.
Thanks for asking. You’ve been on my mind. Want to pick your brains re: modem adapters, antennas .. and *heaven forfend* amplifiers.
Thinking you’ve been down that road. Ok if I drop you a note tomorrow??
Knowing the Democrats penchant for insanity, it would probably be DiFi. :-(
Or Schumer
‘Rain doesn’t have to worry in the city, only way to fall is down.’

Am no pro (laughing out loud at the thought)… but sure, please do, anytime.

Just some food for thought.
This of course assumes Dems remain in the Senate majority.
With Obama out there on the stump for losers like Blanche, I wouldn’t be counting those chickens yet.
Feingold? Whitehouse?
Time to turn in. G’nite, all.
True…! At least he’s a tad bit better than Difi…! Not by much tho…! ;-)
good input, definitely consistent with some advice we’re getting. (although in the case of USC I’d have to set aside some sports rivalry prejudice – go Bears! :~). a good friend of ours did undergrad and masters in music there, is now an accomplished chef in the Napa valley.
also looking at McGill and UBC up north…
I was going to add that minor caveat, M’dear…! ;-)
And I as well. Don’t let Tuttle (or Margot) click the links, it could spoil the poi for the luau…
;>)
If either of them became M.L. I’d have felt like I died and gone to heaven…! Better yet, Bernie Sanders…! ;-)
Probably not enough seniority or money.
I went to UCLA as well, so had to swallow hard when son’s #1 choice was USC.
