Today, Secretary Sebelius and the Department of Health and Human Services released a report on health insurance company rate increases in the wake of the outrage over Anthem Blue Cross’s 39% increases in California. The report makes clear what those of us who’ve been following the health care debate have known for years: California’s rate increases aren’t unique.

The White House seems incapable of acknowledging that the Senate bill they designed is something the American people do not want. They are blaming the messaging, but not the product, being reluctant to acknowledge that they designed an inherently unpopular bill. Health care reform may not move forward until they do and take steps to make the bill better with popular policy changes.

The Austin-American Statesman has posted this diatribe by a Joseph Stack of San Marcos, Texas, the man federal authorities have confirmed tried to kill his family by burning down his house, then flew a small plane into IRS offices near downtown Austin.
