But I have to admit to being bored out of my mind. I can’t do much with this cast on my arm. Just three more weeks. I am going to go see my girls this week in the bay area. that is always fun.
didn’t get any sunshine until late afternoon but it has been dry the past couple of days. we are supposed to get rain tuesday up here too — another storm is supposed to split and hit both me and you :)
I was uncasted for two weeks cause I couldn’t find a doc who would take my insurance. It was a relief to get it one. Bathing is a bitch, ain’t it. I broke both my arms as a kid. Hard doing anything.
one of the things that I wonder about. my saints finally.. but i’ve read Guy Dubord and with every passing day it seems to be truer? more true i could very easily just move so far back onto the bayou that even Eric Holder couldn’t find me but… ya know the whole good fight routine?
hey emerson — i was inspired to look for gospel music videos after you laid that wonderful choir number in a thread a little while back. how ya doing tonight?
Olympics over? We now return you to our regular “programming.”
Though there was no official truce, about 100,000 British and German troops were involved in unofficial cessations of fighting along the length of the Western Front.[10] The first truce started on Christmas Eve, 24 December 1914, when German troops began decorating the area around their trenches in the region of Ypres, Belgium.[11]
The Germans began by placing candles on their trenches and on Christmas trees, then continued the celebration by singing Christmas carols. The English responded by singing carols of their own. The two sides continued by shouting Christmas greetings to each other. Soon thereafter, there were excursions across the ‘No Man’s Land’, where small gifts were exchanged, such as food, tobacco and alcohol, and souvenirs such as buttons and hats. The artillery in the region fell silent that night. The truce also allowed a breathing spell where recently-fallen soldiers could be brought back behind their lines by burial parties. Joint services were held. The fraternisation was not, however, without its risks; some soldiers were shot by opposing forces. In many sectors, the truce lasted through Christmas night, but it continued until New Year’s Day in others.
this is my second winter in oregon. the first one i had snow on the beach — the first time since i was an infant that i had snow at home. was a wonderful thing to wake up to. it left after a few days so i was happy.
i figure somewhere along the coast in bc should not be that much different weather wise.
i have radiators in my apartment one of the best things about winter is laying a couple towels over the radiators before you hop into the shower and having warm towels when you get out. still if i may borrow Ezra Pounds words.
Winter is Icummen in
(Ezra Pound)
Winter is icummen in,
Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm.
Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,
An ague hath my ham.
Freezeth river, turneth liver
Damn you, sing: Goddamm.
Goddamm, Goddamm, tis why I am,
Goddamm.
So ‘gainst the winter’s balm
Sing Goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm
Sing Goddamm, sing Goddamm,
DAMM.
This week he pulled out all the bell-balls he’s been hiding/hoarding over the years. Dunno where he had them or why he dug em out. Is fun to listen to him bat them around.
When the state of texass makes Howard Zinn’s – A People’s History of the United States required for middle school curriculum … but we’d best not hold our breath, SN
i with you on that I work from home most days, some times I have to go in for meetings-hot shots from corporate ya know. but other than that unless i’m getting really stir crazy. sometimes i think i could be a hermit the old fart in the cave, now if i could only get the wisdom routine working…
must confess my ignorance hadn’t heard of her, listen to the links went to amazon and got her music she owes you a drink this has been a good night for me usually by the time i get here the posts are dead
He’s been good though. I think two weeks is his limit. No 2nd floor here and he can’t go tearing up the steps or watch the birds at tree branch level. *g*
i ended up going 5 years early due to my fake knee. ended up with half my paycheck instead of 3/4 but…. hindsight has taught me to appreciate the time instead of longing for what should have been.
think it was it Mencken that said hindsight is 20-20. The French phrase is dolce de vivre the sweetness of living that’s the thing that we don’t do. Just more and more of less and less. Or as Joni Mitchell put it you could’ve been more than a name on the door. Damn shame it was forced on you. Whenever i hear someone say i’ve got more time than money i just shake my head and think no you don’t.
Clown Car!
mary mcc — time to head to tahoe girl
I cannot ever go to Tahoe. I love it too much.
is what i used to say before the days of buying lotto tix
how’s sac tonight?
It is good. Today was beautiful. Tomorrow will be nice. Rain on Tuesday. How about you?
But I have to admit to being bored out of my mind. I can’t do much with this cast on my arm. Just three more weeks. I am going to go see my girls this week in the bay area. that is always fun.

oooo that will help a lot mary
the last weeks in a cast are the absoforkinglutely worst
After all this rain they say the reservoirs will only be at 45% cause the ground water still filling up.
amazing coming from Lady Marmalade.
snowpack is below norms up here too. been unusually warm jan and feb this year and not a lotta snow.
No tsunami for you Suz?
I was uncasted for two weeks cause I couldn’t find a doc who would take my insurance. It was a relief to get it one. Bathing is a bitch, ain’t it. I broke both my arms as a kid. Hard doing anything.

Not too bad my work week is over and i’m listen to Dylan with the cat in my lap and some 30 year old single malt, life is good.

Snowy, lovely, I haven’t left the house all weekend.

hey margot — how ya doing tonight?
the cat’s eight the 30 year old is from scotland and is in glass
Night, sis.
hey loohoo — how’s socal?
ooo i remember momma putting on her gloves and her hat. Cajun women of that generation could slice you to ribbons and be totally proper and polite.
Well, feel free to report any 30 year old people in your lap!
THE most beautiful moon rising I can ever remember! Nice now, and clean. Supposed to be more rain tomorrow or Tuesday.
egg-zactly! we had been transferred (dad navy) from new orleans to san diego earlier in the year. the school didn’t know what had hit them.
Canada is high. All of Canada, but especially the “choreographers” for this Closing Ceremony.
Fine, how about you? Hi to everyone!
BoB Costas: “The always enjoyable giant inflatable moose”
GIANT INFLATABLE BEAVER
i think i like it — sorta 1950′s quaint yet high tech…..
It’s like a giant Canadan Olympix Nativity Calendar.
Oh, yay, NBC doesn’t think I need to see the end — cut to commercial, then The Marriage Ref.
Thanks NBC, you are the SUXXOR
grew up in the channel on Terpsichore right accross from sacre couer
sigh — over for another 4 years. i hope whoever covers the next winter games doesn’t fork it up like nbc did
we lived in algiers 2 blocks from the river in a double barreled shotgun.
i’ll be sixty in july no thirty year olds
Could be worse, teddy — like airing the network ripoff of Henry Louis Gates, Jr.’s family heritage research series on PBS. That’s coming this week.

Amen to that all our grass is brown…! (both varieties even!) ;-)
The best way to handle a situation like that!
dood! (laughing) don’t sound like paradise — t’will be good when ya green back up
I loved the opening to the Closing Ceremonies… We Canucks sure have a great sense of humor, eh…? ;-)
the oly’s sure were a nice distraction from all the news of the day. i’m gonna miss that
CT — probably a typo — Hawaiians were fleaing
one of the things that I wonder about. my saints finally.. but i’ve read Guy Dubord and with every passing day it seems to be truer? more true i could very easily just move so far back onto the bayou that even Eric Holder couldn’t find me but… ya know the whole good fight routine?
Patti LaBelle…. okay! All we got was Kukla, Fran & Ollie.
i think of doing something similar but across that long unwalled border to the north but…
*heh* One of Canada’s Sons is performing at the ceremonies…! Neil Young… Forget what Lyrnd Skynrd says about him…! ;-)
hey sunny — wazzup?
The everglades would do it for me. Cept for the skeeters.
Love Patti taking the alphabet spiritual. David Lynch has his own way of looking at things.

hey emerson — i was inspired to look for gospel music videos after you laid that wonderful choir number in a thread a little while back. how ya doing tonight?
eat enough garlic and the skeeters won’t bother you, the pythons may be another matter.

i have a portable oil filled rad that i wheel in the bath. i heat with wood and the bathroom is a long way from the jotul
In snow country, having a nice warm bathroom after a shower is divine.
No idea. He’s just weird….
This week he pulled out all the bell-balls he’s been hiding/hoarding over the years. Dunno where he had them or why he dug em out. Is fun to listen to him bat them around.
been listening to a lotta Madeleine Peyroux lately
qu’est-ce que c’est jotul?
that’s wonderful!
I feel like this whole winter has been spent indoors, with brief forays in between storms to get provisions and books.
uh oh…time for treats or nobody sleeps tonite.
sorry — my wood stove
congrats on the 100 emerson
thanks, but the question is Suz-did you hold back on the milestone? *g*
When the state of texass makes Howard Zinn’s – A People’s History of the United States required for middle school curriculum … but we’d best not hold our breath, SN

Hah! Sorry, didn’t see that. At least we agree.
I know what you mean. Sometimes I go days without leaving home. I like it though!
Bed is the only place I’m safe – he respects that. Elsewhere, it’s random claws and teeth whenever the mood strikes.
Congratulations!
laughing.. worth listening to again — very very smooth
laughing…..sadly
This one killed me. Never thought I’d hear someone try to emulate Billie’s style. She’s got a doctorate in Billie!

Hey Margot!
love her cover of this hank sr tune
Spence has been clinging to me for two days. He’s ready to go home, now. And he will tomorrow.
Great version of Last Dance.
must confess my ignorance hadn’t heard of her, listen to the links went to amazon and got her music she owes you a drink this has been a good night for me usually by the time i get here the posts are dead
glad ya enjoy her music. is this your usual getting here time?
oooo that’s good loohoo
Bless his heart. Change is very scary, particularly when there’s worry in the air. (((spence)))
i’m on the tech team for a major hotel chain my hours sometimes change on a daily basis. but ya know, when the man pops the whip you say yousa massa.
i hear that — love love love being retired.
He’s been good though. I think two weeks is his limit. No 2nd floor here and he can’t go tearing up the steps or watch the birds at tree branch level. *g*
there’s no place like home
Hugs to both of you
five more years
amazing voice, as usual. Clear as a bell.
i ended up going 5 years early due to my fake knee. ended up with half my paycheck instead of 3/4 but…. hindsight has taught me to appreciate the time instead of longing for what should have been.
Thanks Margot. We hug you back. *g*
Haha that’s his theme song. He’s been chatting me up, and that’s not his style.
susan is pretty smooth too
