wigwam! how ya doing?
Hey!
hey newton — token toon dood. how ya been?
Hi Suzanne,
How have you been?
hey margot — how’s ohio?
doing well thank you. how’s your patch of paradise?
Hey, Newt,
(When) are you going to get an iPad?
Very, very wet.
Happy Happy to the little cutie!
supposed to be sunny here sunday *and* monday
I’ve not checked here. Down here, all water is “good”!
he’s sleeping off that full belly o’bone next to the fire
Hey wigwam.
• when you and a bunch others have one all tested out for me
• when Apple gets their head out and includes an on-board 2.0 USB port
• when they double the capacity
iPad v.2 I think.
evening, Suz
lived in ca long enough that i welcome all of oregon’s rain
Water is our next resource shortage.
hiya margot, wigwam, newt
hey ppd — what’s new with you?
The iPad comes very close to my ideal computer, but not yet quite close enough.
That said, I have to buy something very soon, and don’t quite know what it’s going to be. Right now, the main contender is the Asus 1201N, as 12.1″ netbook that is inexpensive, light, and possibly has sufficient screen capacity, i.e. 720P (1366X768).
Scared myself. I couldn’t login then I remembered that I had my cookies turned off. Must be all the mold in my brain from the rain. I have rain brain.
i remember a pbs show ‘the water wars’ about how water was going to be exactly that
Great cartoon! Happy Bday to Token!
hey mary mcc — i take it ya’ve have enough rain for the day?
That is why the Bushies let big business buy up a ton of publically owned water companies across the country.
We’ve had like 30″ this month of snowfall.
I loved this cartoon, laughed out loud.
hey loohoo– how’s so cal and token is snoring so i’ll say thank you for him
Suzanne,
We have at least 14 inches of snow here. Lovely, silent. I cooked and baked all day!
Yep. But it sure was wonderful and beautiful when the sun came out this afternoon. Clear outside now and the stars have made their appearance along with mars.
hey ce — that sounds marvalous… whatcha make?
hi PPD, wigwam, newton, Mary, Loo Hoo, everyone.
Raining again here. Love it!
hi Margot!
thanks margot — i love that there is not a single word of dialogue in it (and it was the closest thing to the winter olympics i could find that had doggies and bones)
What did you cook and bake, Christine?
If you have to run Office (the iWork Suite will emulate Office docs very nicely in my experience), they I guess I agree.
But having zero attachment to the PC platform, and the size/weight/freaking cooness factor…
iPad by a very long way for me, once you guys get done beta testing.
A huge meatloaf, with tomato sauce topping. Whole wheat couscous, broccoli, and brownies!
Hey!
Roughly, 25 years ago, I talked to a guy from a small town east of Sacramento that sold their municipal water company to a corporation, which immediately doubled their prices.
“What did you do that for you dumb shit?” said I.
“Everybody was doing it.” said he.
“What the fuck?” said I.
“Reagan says it’s the thing to do.” said he.
I walked away in disgust.
*perk* brownies???
and difi wants to do the same for even more folks from what i hear. isn’t she supporting that privatization of ca water?
Ghiradelli (sp?) ground chocolate box has the best recipe on the box. Oh, man, they are great!
I know. I could go for something sweet right now. I don’t think I have anything though. (Canned peaches?)
Good old Ronnie(I never trusted that guy)
Hello
As I mentioned before, most of my computing gets done on remote servers. So, my local device is just for communicating keystrokes and pixels between me and a remote machine, which is probably at the other end of a WiFi or 3G link.
Feinstein’s biggest campaign contributor needs her to steal the state’s water for his farming and land development deals/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWrCRPldVZk
hello bbback
hey bb — how’s your bay tonight?
Yes. And I’d strongly recommend it for those who enjoy being screwed, economically. It’s obviously an excellent idea to turn your water company over to the unseen hand so that you can get your very own unseen-hand job.
emerson! how ya been dood?
USA wins 4-man bobsled
God Damn.
emerson and BB!
Watching Emma, PBS. This is late night OT. Any Austen friends? The fire is awesome tonight.
Yep.
And I will decline the 3G when I get mine.
Screw ATT.
woohoo!!!
This is wonderful!
wunnerful wunnerful
Chicken, leek, broccoli, mushroom, sun dried tomatoes, gorgonzola and penne pasta. Girl Scout Cookies – Samoas!
hey wmd — ohmystars that sounds yummy!
Hi bb, how are you?
Been a little crazy lately here, Suz. But coming up with a battle plan. Dad has had 4 angios in 5 weeks. He’s smiling but will need 2 big operations. First will be open-heart in a couple of weeks. Next (and last) will be bypass in his neck. We’re all very optimistic.
That was a good one, CE
oh emerson ***sending dad good healing thoughts*** please keep me posted dood
it was a tasty dinner.
Still no work. 2 interviews last week.
fork. how didja feel walking out of the interviews?
good luck man
Don’t eat the Lemon Creme Chalet cookies, man.
Will do, Suz. Been letting Spence stay there to administer the healing power of cats! *g*
Love Austen.
critter love is most powerful
hey emerson — is that here in CA. or are you folks out east?
Thanks newt. He’s the strongest 86-year-old we know, so we’re upbeat.
We all wish him and your family the best, emerson
I love this Emma!
Felt pretty good. First position is more to my liking. End of interview prospective boss said I was highly qualified, he’s been trying to fill position since November, nothing can be done until HR person is back from vacation and I will hear from them next week. Run on sentence :-).
I think I’ll be getting a second interview from the second company.
ooooooo sounds promising — fingers and toes crossed for ya dood
Suz this cartoon is really nice to watch full screen. I know a lot of kids had to love it with eyes glued to screen.
My Champion juicer did a quart and a half of powerful vegetable juices from the garden and Farmer’s Market produce. Filled with life giving dynamic nutrients and minerals. Will last a week.
Yoga’s going great. Added weight resistance training and treadmill.
The bay has had some 6 foot tides in the AM just beautiful as the sun comes up and most of the flora is covered with saltwater.
Luckily in Napa, Constitution. They moved out here when my sisters started having kids. Now they, my 2 sisters and brother all live about 5 miles apart. I’m 25 miles away, but have been staying here alot. My dad thinks it’s cuz I like his Chevas Regal. *g*
Better and better and you?
glad ya liked it bb. good to hear ya are doing so good dood
Oh emerson. Hugs to your dad.
That girl really captured Austen’s conflicted heroine, didn’t she?
Wish I was there. I miss watching Moro Bay from my house so much.
hey sunny — how ya doing tonight?
Evening Madame Senator!
Yes, I love her.
It’d be nice to get a call on my birthday next week.
Hi Mary
bestest birthday present evah would be the job offer dood
Nothing like having family close by, especially with elderly parents or grandparents.
Thanks Sunny, I’ll deliver them personally tomorrow. How are you?
What street were you on?
I’ll show up in LLN when I know.
sweet.. looking forward to good news for ya dood
Interesting how much outside the conventions of her time Austin’s characters are — yeah, I hate those dangling participles, too.
Best of outcomes for you all. Open hearters usually come out way ahead from where they were befire the surgery. With all the familiy support and being strong he’s going to be great just takes a little longer to recover when your in your 80s. Good luck Emerson.
Better here, too. Not as good as you, that’s for sure.
I was taking one of those medicines you see advertised with this warning: “If you develop muscle pain or weakness, tell your doctor immediately as this can be serious.”
I got the pain and weakness, got off the med, and am doing much better now. Shoveling or sweeping snow a few times every day little by little is helping me get strong again.
You’re right. We feel very fortunate. The great thing is my mom has been volunteering at this hospital for 10 years as the liaison for the surgery families and the surgeons, so she knows all the doctors. He is getting EXCELLENT care and his surgeons are top of the line. It feels very much like a big family.
Oh man, I got lost in this really cool story (with pictures) about the Clark family. As in Clark County Nevada. Las Vegas.
103 year old woman with lots of empty properties and $$$.
Nipomo-out in the sand dunes.
I recommend yoga stretching for everyone…you saw how flexible those cartoon dogs were. we just think too much where they always do the leisurely stretches. Especially after shoveling snow.
I heard about a girl scout cookie recall on the lemon cookies.
Thank you bb. Heartfelts to you. *g*
congrats on the 100 margot
Past Willow? How could you see the bay from there?
All the best to you.
I am getting on the treadmill for 25 minutes of cardio. Yoga does not get that done for me.
Yep. I could just see the bay. I lived in two different houses out there. The second one was two stories and I could see the bay from there.
Knowing pros in the hospital – absolutely priceless.
The elderly have the biggest challenge navigating the health care system. I go to all of my folks’ doc appts to make sure we’re clear on what’s really going on. We’ve caught several mistakes, and their docs are excellent.
Great. Went to my neighborhood mex place. This is such a backwater it was almost empty by 9pm on Sat night.
They outdid themselves. Three different waiters sat down and introduced themselves… what sweeties! Was like a progression of dinner companions. They kept bringing odds and ends from the kitchen… and margaritas.
We watched the olympics and laughed a lot.
Glad you survived the downpours. This morning the sky fell as I parked at the yoga center, when I came out the sun was shining and again got a little tanning in the afternoon. The farm soils are so soaked driving back LOVR. Been going by HWY1. Good night all.
Suz — the largest aftershock in Chile` at 6.9 was nearly as big as Loma Prieta.

Dayam, Suz…! 112 comments in an hour…? ;-)
Gorgeous moon outside…!
You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet
that sounds wunnerful sunny. tillamook pretty much shuts down early most nights. grocery stores open until 9 but after that, all that is open is taverns and the local stop and rob. i’ve driven through 7pm on a sun nite and town is closed up.
aloha dood – yeah, slow night
take any pictures?
dayam
*swoon*
I still need to upload my sunrise pics from the other day…! I’ll see if my webcam can pick up the moonshine on Hilo Bay on my next shift…! ;-)
Hey CT — I watched CNN this afternoon on the Hawaii tsunami preparations — luckily, nothing serious
most excellent dood
True, what tripped me out was half of Hilo had a blockparty right above Hilo town, I mean full on with the tents, coolers, even a few BBQ’s…! All watching the breakwater intently…! ;-)
if i was forced to head to high ground with all my neighbors, i would hope we would have that same spirit. as long as ya are up high enough, might as well kick back and watch the show
What fun!
Thank you, Loo Hoo. *g*
Are you saying that Hawaiians don’t need an excuse to party?
Cowabunga, dude.
CT, I thought about you today while we watched HI on the teevee.
Hope there were no fireworks.
Great, thanks.
Excellent your family is connected at the hospital.. makes a huge difference.
Shouldn’t, but it does.
a couple of legends
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJYUSdX-Rps
wow
another legend
Did ya’ll notice how clear and sunny it was, it felt like Hilo knew she was on display for all to see…! I’ve not seen it that clear in ages…! ;-)
i was watching and thinking today would not be a good day for any eruptions…
A legend too…!
babe…. i’ve not see this before
Ooh, glad I woke up again to read this. What fun!
Sorry I conk out in my chair here if I’m not careful.
I just did the same thing, Margot! Nighters.
*heh* Jamming in your old stomping grounds too…! ;-)
g’nite loohoo
nothing worse than waking up with the keyboard imprinted on your face margot
jimi and steven jam
Aloha, Loo Hoo…!
Hugs Emerson, I will be sending out good thoughts for your father. Really glad to hear the hospital staff knows your family already, it does make a difference.
Rod back to his R & B roots
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4PXMCCTMwM
Ooh, a veritable gold mine of Jimi clips on the side…! ;-)
Thank you Margot. Very much appreciated. *g*

night all – be well
g’nite ppd
Aloha, PPD…!
It really was :-)
another legend
Faces were the first indoor concert I saw. Really small place and 6 of we 7th graders made the scene. *g*
how cool — where was it? east coast?
Just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful cartoon Suz.
Another Killer Guitarist…!
and here’s another.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4PXMCCTMwM
hey tbsa — always a pleasure to see ya — how ya been and glad ya liked it :)
isn’t that a repeat? or is it later than i thought it was?
It was in Hackensack, NJ-10 miles from our town and 5 miles from Manhattan. The next show we saw that year was Lesley West and Mountain.
Our first outdoor concert was Chicago at the Schaefer Festival in Central Park. Great memories!
chicago was part of my first indoor concert — 9th grade — they opened for jimi at the oakland arena
Argh-no that was all me. I’ll try again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIuveaFWA4w
totally worth the wait dood — love this tune and artist
Chicago and Jimi!! What a first show, Suz!
How about outside?
Good call, CT Knopfler is always so clean.
outside was beatles at candlestick. 6th grade.
An amazing pairing of legends…!
this show
oh yeah….
Here’s why Hawaii was spared…!
the energy went west instead of northwest… wow
Carlos and Eric…! ;-)
janis and jimi
OMG SUZ! You win vs EVERYBODY!
twas a memorable evening emerson — even though i was inhaling a lot that night
I’m trippin on CT’s graf in 174!
Did you read the comments to the vid, Suz…? ;-)
Hi Margot! Wish you could have joined me.
dang, my modem keeps crapping out…. I’m slow, but not this slow.
no — should i?
oh hell
have ya rebooted the modem sunny?
A sample…
I agree too, Hendrix was a lot ‘cleaner’…
mea culpa
My nephew just sent me this-pretty cool!
http://ill-legible.com/2010/02/27/the-dodos-live-at-the-palace-of-fine-arts-sf-ca-022510/
same show
Oh yeah. It has a mind of its own. This wi fi business beats dial-up, but it sure isn’t cable.
oh crap….i know es had modem problems when he first started using a wifi cell setup. i know his eventually got worked out.
I probably need an antenna.
On edit: And I definitely need a new computer.
hmmmm maybe that is how es fixed his….. an antenna is ringing a bell somewhere deep
Unbelievable-just sent the link to my nephew who’s a huge Hendrix fan-and a damn good guitar player himself.
With me too. I’ll ask him.
iirc there is available a mono recording of that show on the jimi website. i got a cd of it for an at the time beau in the 90′s.
IIRC, ES mentioned that he had to go to one specific room to catch it too(without heat)…!
trying to remember who gave him advice that helped him resolve it. i remember that too
Sounds like a newt or wigwam conversation?
I’d prolly be fine if I wanted to sit on my porch….. brrrr.
Interesting to read the UK sites. Seems everyone in london is using modem cards – with antennas. And paying a fortune for the privilege.
Last time I checked none of the mfgs had them for my modem, which is a new model. May have changed by now. Time to start making customer support calls. Ugh.
Suz won’t respond until #200 is gone- ok Suz.
congrats on the 200 sunny
try your ip company first — maybe they have them and you will have an idea of what the going rate is for it
Nice going, Sunny!
i was sitting here a’waiting and a’waiting…
Hahahaha-I could FEEL it!
Thank ya, thank ya!
I don’t think the UK cost is for the antennas, just the service itself. IIRC, London is weird even for hardwired telephone service. Lots of black holes or something.
i swore up and down last week when i got the 100 *and* the 200 that i was gonna have to pay attention and shut the fork up — altho i guess it is a good thing that i’m not all about the count and am paying attention to the thread
london is strange. ya gotta pay more to drive in town during certain hours and all kinda other weird stuff.
or so i’ve heard…. it is on my list yanno
Is that possible…? (ducking…) ;-)
*taking lqqk offa stun*
Takes finely honed presence of mind to keep up with reply numbers — not my long suit :-) But I’m all for winning!
I agree. I think it’s OK if you hit the milestones.
totally dood. milestones are worth celebrating
I had you pegged as a competitor-and that’s a good thing!
almost ohdarkthirty. guess i had better head out for the night
thanks for all the music and conversations tonight. i’ve got a special video for tomorrow’s late late nite. hope to see ya’ll then.
g’nite and exit stage left and poof.
What’s funny is I still remember the nite you hit 378 (I think it was?) I keep thinking, “We could have hit 400 that night!”
Of course, I’m quite sick.
At one time the idea of living in london seemed appealing. No longer.
Aloha, Suz…!
G’nite Suz. Good luck with the antenna, Sunny. And stay elevated, CT, just in case.
I remember that… I’m not competitive, but I may have been the last one standing ;-)
Hahahaha-EXCELLENT!! You were. and we had three hours on you!
Isn’t it still yesterday for Tuttle? He could be a contender.
For the next 15 mins…! ;-)
I’m here all nite…!
If CT was on that thread, you two would have hit 500 easy.
Box # 99
Nearly 6 weeks ago some of us at Crawfords Trail Mix , set – up a site to raise money for ShelterBox.
T M Fish Camp Our goal was to try and buy one or two, tonight we are 43 % into buying our 99th box. We are 15 people away from sheltering 1,000 people, now with the quake in Chile, ShelterBox will be even more pressed. Any help from the folks here at FDL would be greatly appreciated.

And you both have outlasted me tonite-again. Have a great evening and nice playing with ya. *g*
We’ll just have to pick a night… and a topic. Can’t discuss it here though. (edited)
I’ll have my people call your people.
nite emerson. nite tuttle. nite lurk.
I’m out.
You have people…? ;-)
Aloha, Sunny and emerson…!
