Momentum for the Fair Elections Now Act (H.R. 1826) is growing, thanks to your support. Lead House sponsor, Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.), wants to speak to you directly to thank you, answer your questions, and to encourage you to continue to advance our cause.
While Chris Dodd has introduced a Constitutional Amendment to address ‘Citizen’s United’, let me remind others that the ERA still has not been ratified.
So what is the ‘Fair Elections Now Act’? It’s this.
Why is this important? "In 93 percent of House of Representatives races and 94 percent of Senate races that had been decided by mid-day Nov. 5, the candidate who spent the most money ended up winning, according to a post-election analysis by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. The findings are based on candidates’ spending through Oct. 15, as reported to the Federal Election Commission."
And since almost 70 per cent of a Senator or Representative’s time is spent soliciting funds, they aren’t -obviously- doing the work they are paid for and which they were supposedly elected to do.

As you know, the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United has prompted many members of Congress to take another look at the Fair Elections legislation, as evidenced by the addition of new co-sponsors over the last few weeks. Hear first-hand how the legislation will empower small donors and ensure that elections are about voters, not wealthy corporate interests.
Follow this link and hear directly from Rep. Larson about why we need Fair Elections now more than ever.
I hope you can join us this Thursday at 6:00 PM EST.
