Here’s Teabagger candidate Marco Rubio, yukking it up at CPAC.
“The president couldn’t find anywhere to set up a teleprompter to announce new taxes,” Rubio said of the snow accumulation.
Noted Tim Mak,
Doesn’t stop Rubio from using a tele-prompter himself though.
That aside, watching Rubio’s and DeMint’s CPAC speeches is literally like stepping into a timewarp. It is as though the years 2001-2009 never happened.
The words “Bush” and “Cheney” were not uttered. There was no acknowledgment that under conservatives, the country collapsed into the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression. There was not a single mea culpa, not a hint of regret that the wars conservatives launched have still not ended in victory. Low taxes and less regulation were repeatedly cited as the answers to all our problems — despite the fact we’re coming off three decades of lower taxes and less regulation. There were endless complaints about the deficit, and no admission that conservatives are responsible for most of it. There were no answers for stagnant middle class wages, no concerns that about half of America’s children at some point depend on food stamps. Just endless refrains that Americans should have the freedom to make lots of money.
In a nutshell: “Freedom, freedom, freedom, socialism, socialism, socialism, tyranny, terror, taxes. In conclusion, America fuck yeah!”
Surreal.

check the way you spell ‘teleprompter’ before you call others ignorant.
You forgot “liberal women are ugly dykes, liberal men are wimps and faggots, Obama does coke, Nancy Pelosi enjoys bestiality and Al Gore is stupid!”
You wouldn’t want to under-represent the full spectrum of conservative thought.
The hypocrisy continues.
Let’s just rename the Hypocrite Party.
Oh no you di’int!

1. Spelling flames are lame. 2. Where did I call anyone ‘ignorant’?
Actually, Cheney made a surprise appearance.
That ought to fire ‘em up!
?
…and tort reform. Always the tort reform. It is the solution to every problem.
Are you confusing ignorance with hypocrisy, perhaps?
I know. She’s attacking a straw man.
Well, since lowered health care costs are the best tort reform imaginable, they must favor single payer, right? Right?
Joseph Stack, who apparently couldn’t get to the CPAC conference, decided instead to fly his plane into a building containing an IRS office, after setting his house afire with his wife and daughter inside.
He left behind a web manifesto attacking the government and the IRS.
I’m sure he’ll be applauded as a hero martyr by his right-wing comrades-in-thought. Also a great promoter of Rethug family values.
Did you read the manifesto? He shares a lot of values with people here.
Silly PW…lower healthcare costs only matter when it is the private insurance companies whose costs are lowered. Single Payer is for socialists.
Was there a plane crashing into a government building in the Turner Diaries? I can’t remember.
Link? He was progressive? Progressives usually don’t plot against the IRS.
I presume you’re snarking. I haven’t seen anyone here advocate killing innocent people working in their offices, or incinerating their own wife and daughter.
Got a link to his manifesto?
Not so much progressive, as lots of complaints about how complicated the tax system is, rants against the PTB, rants against organized religion & their favorable tax treatment. It’s been taken offline by the FBI. Shit, I should have copied & pasted it somewhere.
He shares a lot of values, not all.
C&L has exerpts. It won’t disappear completely.
Tort reform and tax cuts for the rich.
I’m sure it will show up in a lot of places. We just don’t know what they are yet. By what right or rationale does the FBI to take the site down anyhow?
I agree with you and obviously Stack didn’t. But the manifesto was quite long and contained many particulars that I agreed with. That’s all I was saying. He wasn’t progressive per se, but he also wasn’t CPAC material either.
Well, maybe no one expected the Spanish Inquisition the first time, but …
(and thank you to the many who called EWTN to protest.)
Agree. It’s a political rant, why take it down?
Let’s be careful. He also railed against the drug companies and GW Bush.
We know why. To keep the peeps in the dark and to prevent them from having information to make intelligent decisions. It’s the rationale I’m looking for. But I actually know that too: because they can, nobody’s gonna stop them.
OK, I’ll reserve judgment until I’ve gotten to read his actual writing.
However, we here know full well that we could find plenty of common ground with Tea Partiers and true conservatives viv a vis our complaints against various governemnt practices.
The real rift, as I see it, and I hope I’m not overstating this, is that progressives seem to resent on behalf of ideals of liberty and fairness, while I readthe righties as being mostly concerned with their own personal interests. Also, the determination to totally demonize and disrespect the boundaries of all who disagreee as implacanle, unredeemable enemies seems to be a peculiar property of the righties. IMHO.
National Security. Terrists, ya know.
Like I said above, plenty of common ground. But the tactic of randomly killing innocents would NEVER get my approval.
CNN is calling it a suicide note and it can be found here. No mention of anybody inside his house.
I’m willin’ to bet she doesn’t read Caturday.
Well, I’m a newbie there, but I have seen her.
Speaking of cats, the weather’s getting just a little warmer, Cahnstance goes out more often, for longer, and is getting feistery. Very cute.
Dude certainly gave them his “…pound of flesh.”
I have new slogan.
GOP! As dum as we wanna be!
Meanwhile they’re reading the manifesto on msnbc. Guess they didn’t get the memo.
Tameron can’t seem to understand why someone would be angry at the govt.
Thanks for the link, SD. Just read it. Will comment in the new thread upstairs by Blue Texan.
The report I saw said that his wife and daughter were in the house but were rescued. Didn’t give any other details.
Let’s hope we hear from some sensible, centrist voices on this — people like Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan and Harold Ford.
And when I say “hear from”, I of course mean that they have emulated this man and killed themselves.
Scarborough is angry his ratings are not as high as the rest of the right-wingers, Buchanan is a dinosaur and Ford is a Fake.
I got to say he sounded like a rational/very very angry man to me.
Love me some stupid.
Hmm…. Rubio used a teleprompter? Kind of funny since I saw him reading notes from a paper. And Conservatives are supposedly the ones who aren’t alert!
Loved his speech and coming from parents who were under a Socialistic/Communistic government, it sounds to me like his parents and grandfather taught him the evils of this type of government. Without blabbing about other things, please tell me WHY people from socialistic/communistic run countries have FLOCKED HERE? Is it just because of the scenery? After reading the Constitution and the reason for writing this document (England’s King George’s abuse of power), I don’t understand WHY America wants to go back to that kind of rule? Congress and the Administration have been acting like King George. They have shut Americans out of seeing and hearing what they are doing with OUR money! And you trust ALL these people voting them in over and over? More and more each day YOU are giving YOUR RIGHTS up and letting all those politicians make all decisions for you- including when it is time for you to die! You are giving people in government a blank check to violate your doctor patient confidentiality agreement- and you are trusting some government person to tell your doctor when you are too old or too sick for treatment. Sorry, but I don’t. NO GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL cares whether you are dead or alive- oh except for your vote! That they want.
What a mess. King George ~ Castro ~ Obama.
Uh-huh.
