Oh the crazy hay-makers are going to be flying:
Chris Simcox, the co-founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, the militant anti-illegal immigration group, has dropped his own primary challenge to Sen. John McCain for Senate to endorse former Congressman J.D. Hayworth, according to Hayworth spokesman Jason Rose.
And Hayworth is going to go full-crazy, i.e., be himself. Bring on the birthing. This will mean that Mr. Straight-talk will be both full of bullshit and angry as hell. I would guess that within the next couple days, McCain who has always at least said he’s against torture (until Obama’s against it) will magically endorse Glenn Beck’s idea of how to get the captured Taliban military commander’s cooperation — interrogate (because I’m sure that hasn’t been thought of) and then shoot in the head. A plan as immoral as it is ineffective — so they’ll definitely go with that one.
This may be the most enjoyable primary of the election cycle in a car wreck sort of fashion it will be a bit like this — plus I don’t live there, and that’s a real bonus.

The scary thing is that one of these deranged hatemongers will actually win.
Stand back — he’s gonna blow.
Agreed; but at least living in AZ gives me a ringside seat to this slo-mo trainwreck. Choosing the lesser of these two evils isn’t easy. Think I’ll just pop some more corn, and hope they destroy each other.
mccain is gonna take the advice of his republican cohort joe lieberman and run as an independant if he loses the primary
N.B.; McCain turns out to be crazy when he votes the party line. What he usually professes is basically sound, for the most part. It’s the party line that’s batshit insane.
Good morning, pups. It’s just Friedman today. Life is good. MoDo is off today. (Seems odd to be celebrating on Ash Wednesday, but I’ll make an exception in this case.) The Moustache of Wisdom says “Global Weirding is Here,” and that Americans’ confusion about climate change makes the U.S. less inclined to move toward clean-tech and more certain to remain addicted to oil. The reason that Americans are “confused” about climate change is because people in your line of work haven’t been doing their jobs, Tommy. Just sayin’…
Here he is.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got toasted Thomas’ English muffins with your favorite jam. Try some of the Scottish marmalades in honor of the Scottish terrier who won Westminster last night. Have a great day.
Angry and full of bs…Really? Maybe we can find Christy’s (& my) favorite McCrazy pic in his purple, I think, hat and grinning his crazy grin…drink in hand, iirc. What a guy.
I’m Arizonan, and I love it here. And I stay ’cause I like the ‘good’ fight.
Take, for example, the “elidists” love it too, given that McCain and Hayworth, fit nicely into the background or the wall furniture.
The local and largest and highly conservative newspaper, is having a conniption fit as to who they should support, publicly. Privately is another matter. Consequently, what’s been and said on the editorial pages, is falling by the wayside. Arizona’s notional for the Art of Becoming or a “laboratory for democracy” is also falling by the wayside and being replaced by the “lobotomy for democracy”. As such, the latest version of an “economic development strategy” is based on our close proximity to Mexico. But asking these “elidists” to advocate for more advanced reality is like asking that our public educational system of K-12 to institute a regime of teaching to include English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and done simultaneously in oder for the next generation to take advantage of this “proximity” is not going to happen.
Thus, McCain or Hayworth continue to perpetuate the “lobotomy for democracy”. As such, both are not “elitists” but they are definitely “elidists” of any reality that I am familiar with.

Thanks, Marion. The craziness goes all over the media this a.m. then. CBS telling about gridlock, begins with ‘Dems voted as a block 90% of the time, a new record’ – which is kinda the opposite of what’s actually happening. As if the Dems didn’t put together legislation that they could vote on because it’s in the public interest. Oh, well, asking for intelligence is just futile when it comes to the media.
I read the New Times to keep up with the batshits.
CSpan callers give us all their latest talking points. Funny stuff.
I remember someone here telling me Georgia didn’t like light rail because it would bring in African Americans who would lower housing values.
I wonder how Georgia will react to a new Nuclear plant, lower real estate values, paying for the plant with higher power rates, the reactors are built by foreign owned companies so job creation would not be what it could be. Profits would be invested in their home countries.
Plus the Power companies want the Government to pay for their insurance.
http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/maybe-eric-holder-should-pay-attentio
I wonder how the local water table flows around the area where the new plants will be built? If these plants get approved real estate values will drop.
Was Chris Simcox capable of winning in the first place? Is Hayworth with Chris’s help a real challenge to McCain?
Can the extreme Right replace the Corporate GOPers?
John Snow’s CSX rail line biz puts off its insurance expense onto Amtrak which is insured by the Federal Gubmint. That way, Snow can make more money by not having to pay for insurance.
This is a good type of socialism that Republicans love. Any socialism for common people is mocked, derided and ridiculed, of course.
Obama’s trying to win over Button Gwinnett. Somehow I don’t think it’s agonna happen.
The GOP and Fox spent tons of money creating this fear and hate to counter balance us. However the Minute Men, Tea Baggers, etc are the strongest in areas the GOP already controls.
These are the people who think John McCain is a Liberal. A GOP Civil War does benefit us why it forces the GOP to spend money no matter who wins and there is always a chance the loser’s side won’t show up on election day.
That’s somewhat like BlueTexan was pushing for voting in the winger primary in TX, to promote Hutchison so that Perry will have more grief. I can’t do it, tho, here, there’s a competitive Dem race in the primary and I want to vote for the progressive over the oldline not really Dem candidate.
Ok thats a program Obama should cut now. Private rail can buy their own insurance.
Nuclear Power plants however can’t why because they can’t charge their customers enough to pay for what a private insurance company would charge to insure them from a nuclear accident.
When you add in the cost of an accident Nuclear Power does not make sense. With the story of 27 nuclear plants contaminating the drinking water with radiation just getting noticed I don’t think Obama can sell Nuclear Power right now.
According to Button, Sarah Palin understands the Constitution. Button says we have a tyrannical government that ignores the Constitution.
Button and the Tea Baggers were apparently sleeping like Rip Van Winkle from 2000 to 2008.
We need an update on the Texas race is Perry facing any backlash for killing that investigation over the innocent guy he executed?
Just how strong is the Tea Bagger candidate? Is supporting Hutchison wise I mean she seems to be candidate with the most moderate voter appeal.
Normally thats a good thing but then again it is Texas I don’t know whats good for that state.
Obama was selling Nuclear Power just yesterday. I voted for Wind and Solar Obama. I’d even go for a substantial Solar energy tax credit.
Instead we get more huge gifts to Megacorps and more poisoned water.
The GOP thinks that yes the Left is doing the same thing with the same results. First of all many of our right wingers are retiring voluntarily I wish we had more candidates to primary challenge them.
That means that instead of primary fights like the GOP is having the Dems will select new candidates to run for our open seats and those candidates can run as Rahmbots and watch us Lefties stay home or they can win by running against Obama for not being Left enough.
the teabaggage blew it by siding with 911 inside jobbers, that kind of made her poison even in TX. Perry appoints all the justices, there’s no way he will be investigated – you did see my post on insurance dept. allowing rate hikes here on fictitious grounds didn’t you?
here it is; http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/29403
Who is running the WH press secretary’s office don’t they read the news 27 nuclear plants are leaking radiation in the water and Obama tries to launch Nuclear plants now?
I think this is 13 dimensional chess I think Obama wants to kill nuclear power and I’m cool with that.
And the contrary view in TX is that that kind of cross-over vote in TX prevents you from voting for the down ticket (Judges, etc).
It’s tempting to vote against Good Hair, but may not be best for the Dems.
Some of these destructive forces are enabled by our very own Dem Party. I guess it’s just a spectator sport now..just sit back, relax and be entertained as our world collapses.
With things like this one has to wonder if living in red states even though they have lower taxes is more expensive than living in blue states?
Insurance is more expensive any bets food quality is lower? Days of work missed because of sickness higher for employers? Lower funding for public schools equals more crime?
Higher incarceration rates mean higher state expense that could have been spent somewhere else?
Also Gov Perry I would think the FBI should be looking at him now for canceling the investigation.
Not going to cross over here, but if there’s no contest down ticket, can see doing it. Though when making calls for a progressive congressional candidate here, ran into many who had Dem registration who were winger voters who crossed in the previous election to do mischief to our ticket.
Valid points. The ads running for gov. right now include one with perry claiming he has huge amounts in reserves, which leaves the question about why schools, roads, libraries, etc. are being cut severely.
Did you happen to see the TX Observer special edition memory of Molly Ivins? Pictures and memorial comments are priceless. What a voice!!
Hear ye, hear ye!
Can anyone explain to me in a sentence: What in the world did “Jane do NOW!” do merit the disgusting diary at dkos?
Bonus Round:
Is there any way some tsunami or earthquake can come along and just blow up that increasingly worthless in content but high in ad revenue site?
Thank you.
Oh, and don;t all answer at once. Maybe answer in a week or so, the usual speedy FDL response cycle.
do you have a link? I don’t visit TX Observer usually. TX Tribune is my spot.
Unlike the GOP our Progressives if they do win are more electable than the incumbents they replace our position on the major issues voters care about is the majority one.
If the Tea Baggers and Minute Men win will getting rid of immigrants create jobs sure but nobody wants those jobs at those wages. Will the Tea Baggers then support higher wages for Americans?
Will the Tea Baggers stop banks from foreclosing on homes and farms? Our side doubts they will. The Corporate GOP thinks they can stop the Tea Baggers if they dare try and do that.
In other words for the Tea Baggers to become an authentic grass roots movement they have to betray the Corporate GOP who funded them and Fox News who gave them 24 hr news coverage.
For the Progressives to survive we must deliver on what we promised America we would do. To do that it seems we must get rid of the Blue Dogs.
State reserves of cash or campaign cash? Who has huge amounts of state cash in this economy? I’m doubting his books maybe like Greece he pulled some Goldman Sach’s accounting magic?
No, no link. They may have a website. I picked a copy up in the bookstore..just happened on it.
Swim is up…
That was me, they’ll LOVE a nuke.
There are Rahmbots at Koz when Jane says something that upsets Rahm they all attack. Funny there are a lot of things Jane and to be fair we all say however only the things that piss off Rahm seem to get the attention from the Rahmbots.
For example we do tear into Geithner and Summers a bunch here but the Rahmbots don’t seem to care. We attack Obama on the the war, don’t ask don’t tell, Gay Marriage etc but its only when the things that Rahm cares about are threatened do the Rahmbots at Koz respond.
I thought it was:) Your serious they will love a Nuke? Fine its your state your the expert.
Gingrich, Gingery, Braun, Chambliss. . . .goober Governor Purdue. It doesn’t take Carnack to figure this place out.
The ad implies it’s our money, but of course anything in the state coffers is perry’s trough and used to counter public interest efforts.
from the AJC
The impact is hard to underestimate, particularly for east Georgia. U.S. Sens. Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss quickly joined the celebration with a joint statement that began thusly:
U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., today praised the administration’s approval of the first loan guarantees for the construction and operation of two new nuclear reactors at Vogtle Electric Generating plant in Waynesboro, Ga.
Just that single reference to “the administration.” The press release continues for six more paragraphs. The word “Obama” doesn’t appear in any of them.
Including, from the opponent, his use of state $$ for trip to Vegas and “therapeutic spa” = pedicure. ;)
The gov’s toenails are vital concern of TX voters.
U.S. Sens. Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss are getting behind nuclear power in an election year where there is a good chance voters near 27 nuclear power plants will be making news suing power companies for cancer, infertility etc?
Ok its hard to comprehend why there must be easier ways to make money but you got the facts on your state.
I’m thinking of asking how the state got the money this smells fishy.
McCain is going to lock in the crazy vote by biting the head off of a bat. Live on stage of course.
Are there NO sane people in AZ, such that if McCain loses the primary & runs as an independent, one could sneak in and win the seat?
Mauimom,
In Arizona, Republicans are locked into “tax cuts for their friends” and thusly, who promises to garner the most tax cuts, will win handily.
Many years ago, I was talked into attending for biz reasons, a Republican fundraising event, and the ‘honoree’ stated explicitly that the the “poor were a burden on society”. Of course he was referring to the usual notional that any spending of public dollars, means less monies for tax cuts.
So, any private utterances from either McCain or Hayworth, will be premised on ‘class warfare’ and which is their Holy Grail or tax cuts. As to their public utterances, it will be McCain on Tax Cuts and Hayworth on Social Causes.
Jaango
Mauimom,
I know I did not ‘answer’ your question, but for obvious reasons, I wanted to ‘explain’ the dynamics first.
Now, to answer your question. McCain will win hands down despite all their jibber and jabber. McCain has the Chamber of Commerce in his back pocket and delivered to him by his Junior Senator, Jon Kyl. Kyl is and has been the “stellar child” of the Chamber and as one can see during his actual and ‘stellar rise’ to become the Second Honcho-Jefe for the Republicans in the Senate. Also, Kyl was the ‘backroom’ campaign manager for McCain’s presidential campaign, but Kyl’s heart wasn’t in it. As an aside, I’ve known Kyl for 30 years, and he is the smartest member of the Senate, bar none, and consequently, he is not a news media hound of any sort. He very seldom does his political biz in the public limelight. He much prefers the back room biz, and he is highly successful among his colleagues, and equally important, he is trusted. Of course, McCain took a far different political trajectory, given that he was Barry Goldwater’s fair-haired acolyte.
Jaango
Mauimom,
Arizonans are strange people. We have almost as many registered Democrats in AZ as Republicans (maybe more), but our state legislature is dominated by Republicans. On a national basis, we have more Democratic Representatives than Republicans, and until recently, more Democrats in the top offices of the state.
This is also a state that just passed laws allowing anyone to carry a concealed weapon, allowed concealed weapons into bars (as long as they don’t drink ((how is a bartender to know if the weapons are concealed?)) ). The local paper, the Arizona Republic, is extremely conservative, supporting Republicans down the line. They finally had enough of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, though, and have attacked him (mildly) in their editorial pages.
We have good Democrats in this state. We just can’t get them to run! Personally, I can think of several who could beat McCain or Hayworth. But we’re stuck with the mediocrity of those two: the old, past his prime, lost in his long ago “heroism” McCain, or the blindingly stupid, incompetent uber right winger J. D. Hayworth.
I wish that we could do more than just get out the popcorn.
Belatedly, thank you. I’m not there enough anymore to have seen this discriminating pattern.
So, while i was asleep at the wheel, what did she say about Rham recently that caused such utter stupidity over there?
regardless if you see this, thanks for replying
