harold ford?
Thanks, Elliott. Happy Valentine’s Day to you, hope you get some great chocolates. Cannot imagine why we would want to listen to Darth Cheney, just look at the week’s right wing talking points and you know everything you’re going to hear.
Seems Biden tore Darth a new one, here;
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/14/joe-biden-dick-cheney-meet-press_n_461717.html
We have another surplus of neo-con corporate shills on the Tee Vee Propaganda machine. This is COGNITIVE INFILTRATION. Highly paid puppets give us a simple foreign policy, more wars for more war profiteering, financed by deficit spending so our children pay. Their simple domestic polcy is give, taxpayer money to rich people.
How many can you count? Holz-Eakin, Darth and Liz, Will, Gigot, of course Bobby Woodward, Evan Bayh, Billy Kristol (thanks Billy for giving us Sarah Barracuda), Juan Williams, Brooks, Harold Ford, and neo-con clown David Bossie. I may have missed a few. But these millionaires always say the same thing, to the rest of us non-millionaires. WORSHIP AND OBEY YOUR CORPORATE MASTERS! So I will turn off the tee vee.
Just watched Chris Matthews, he’s acting just astonished that the wingers are trying to kill everything Pres.O. proposes, asks; will that kill health care?? duh. then insists that the country sees the pres. as equally responsible for gridlock, while he shows poll numbers that show otherwise.
Woodward goes on and on about starting over, claims he knows some one who read the bill and says it doesn’t save us money (no one asks if he knows anyone who ran the numbers and came to that conclusion). Then Katy Kay tells us she has talked to teabaggers, and they’re sure that Pres.O. is undermining our security, as a one-worlder (see ‘birth certificate’)
Panel concludes the wingers will deep-six Palin.
Just a question. why do you head this “Talking Heads”? Surely talking assholes would be closer to the truth.
Joe and Rachel always get my vote. I guess It’s MTP for me this morning. I’ll just have to stomach Stretch for this one.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Rich today. MoDo has barfed up another one of her revolting fiction pieces, this one called “Icicles, Inside and Out,” in which she fantasizes that the president prides himself on winning over hostile audiences, but trying to persuade Dick Cheney would give a peacock pause. Yes, it’s as awful as it sounds. The Moustache of Wisdom, in “1977 vs. 1979,” says the Middle East today is the product of trends dating back to 1979, and reformers need to counter those trends and deconstruct the prevailing narrative of Islamists. Mr. Kristof says “Our Politics May All Be in Our Head,” and that research hints that the roots of political judgments may lie in fundamental personality types and in the hard-wiring of our brains. Mr. Rich addresses “Palin’s Cunning Sleight of Hand,” and says Republicans are getting away with their populist masquerade, and Democrats are not convincing the country that they offer anything better.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and there are chocolate croissants with fresh strawberries and raspberries. Because it’s Valentine’s Day I’ve also got mimosas. The lineup on the Sunday Morning Gasbag Shows gets more depressing with each passing month. I’ll repeat peterboy’s question: “Harold Ford?!?” Have a great day.
Thanks, Marion, something tells me that MoDo thinks she’s hearting Pres.O. by her psychobabble. But then, there I go trying to analyze her fantasies as if they were for any reason other than collecting the paycheck. The one thing I actually appreciate of Hiatt’s WaPo editorializing is his touting ‘hits’ as popularity. They’re not listening, they’re just beancounting, so making us mad is just as good as making a point, it produces their ‘hits.
I thought NBC/MSNBC cut Harold due to his potential run? Still giving him air time.
Which brings up a question I asked yesterday. Why is there no outrage over Huckabee and Palin doing shows vs. the uproar over Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz (sp)?
What Biden left out is that Cheney was the gateway drug for O to continue constitution shredding.
Seems that ‘outrage’ is owned by the right. Maybe because ‘indignation’ sounds so nuanced.
eCAHNomics, Darth is falsely accused of making up his own facts…or of recognizing that there are such things.
Facts are quaint.
live blogging starbucks instead of panera this morning
pretty dead in here and they don’t have too much to offer for snackums
not fun
I’m trying to get off coffee and have my starbucks green tea…not fun
anyway, sun is up but temperature is down, supposed to be another brutal snow storm this week, I haven’t shoveled my entire walk from the last snow so I’m in big trouble, fresh snow over packed snow
not fun
GOOD MORNIN DAWGS!
indignation and outrage really works very nicely against the neo repukes, do it with just the right snicker against a republican repeating talking points and they get the dear in the head lights look;
*”what…you can do it too?”*
I think their work-around is how they ID Ford now. Instead of ID’ing him as “NBC Analyst” they call him something like Dem Party thus-and-so.
Not a good Sunday for you. (((perris)))
“the dear in the head lights look”
what a perfect Valentine freudian slip
Trouble with progressive indignation being that the media will not notice. We always get annoyed at injustice and (to quote eCAHNomics) quaint stuff like that.
Had dinner with a friend who’s a FoxNews devotee last night. I avoid politics w/ her (and she does the same). But we talked Olympics and Vancouver trucking in snow and that led to global warming. She told me not to worry, it’s just a natural cycle. LOL, I couldn’t hold my tongue. Gave her some facts and had to add ‘whoever told you that is either horribly misinformed or lying to you to”.
Are you still friends?
if Darth is going to be accused, let us do it in a court of law
Happy Valentines to everyone,
chocolate and smooches for all!
well perris, you are doing this to thank yourself later, hang in there.
(But surely a little treat on a holiday is allowed, one chocolate drop?)
what a racket.
At least they acknowledge it “could” be a conflict of interest, unlike certain OTHER networks…
(((Elliott))) Thanks for all your work and happy Valentines Day to you too.
I’m working on finishing a strawberry, raspberry, blueberry cobbler that I made when the fruits were fresh and I froze it. (Doesn’t freeze well, as when thawed & baked, the fruit breaks down & becomes too watery, but delish nonetheless.) After that’s been eaten, I’m going to make another coconut cake, as I still have half a can of coconut milk to use up. So no chocolate for me.
mMm yum
The Hague is lovely at this time of year…
and to you, all good stuff too
now MTP is on here, so I’m off to watch Gregory stupefy the world with his lame brain.
We’ve been friends forever. She was my college roommate.
Being single, it takes me a long time to eat the desserts I make.
I made a pumpkin flan a couple of months ago. I had to give half away, since it would have gone bad by the time I would have eaten it, and it can’t be frozen.
May you have opened your friend’s eyes at least a bit, solai
Blessings on you for being able to maintain a friendship with someone so conservative.
Someone should do a study on how Sunday talks lower viewers IQs.
She acknowledges that FoxNews is tilted and that she keeps that in mind when viewing but you can’t miss the influence they have on her thinking. For example…she hates Nancy Pelosi but can’t name a reason why. She also once defended Glen Beck by saying he’s a comedian. I think O’Reilly said that. BTW, she doesn’t watch all of FN, just O’Reilly.
I swear Chris Wallace wants US to bomb Iran,
or at least regime change –that worked out so well for us the last time, too bad Jones didn’t point that out.
I don’t know how it happened. She was never this way. I really blame O’Reilly. It’s not that she’s a racist or anything, but she’s being influenced subtly. Another example that’s not political is that she won’t go on a cruise or to a foreign country. She’s become fearful of things that shouldn’t cause fear.
Wow. That’s quite a heavy dose of fear if she won’t travel to a foreign country.
maybe good for ratings?
good morning and happy valentines day to all.
U.S. is 21st among nations in terms of people who own their own businesses, according to guy on cspan2.
well, when there’s a terrorist behind every trash can, as FOX bleats…
what a shame.
Good Morning selise
Good Happy Valentines Day Morning To All
I received a box of See’s chocolates last night that I’d be happy to share. And, flowers.
Throwing petals at you all.
You went to a dance, iirc. Was it fun?
Good Morning…Thanks. Sounds like you’ve been a very good girl.;))
Brooks says Biden right about Cheney. Obama has been tough on terror.
Gregory trying to school Rachel. Hmmmm. Good luck with that, David.
And may I say, I Heart Forceful Joe. Biden was solid with a sunny smile this morning. Obama’s best advocate.
So sad.
David Gregory’s ultimate fail — he doesn’t know his boundaries. You’re advocating, David. Not your job.
I’m thinking his 7 year old son may have a better understanding of the concept.
ahh, love
Yay!
There was a day when the Sunday morning talk shows were must see TV but for the last 6-7 years they’ve been toxic tv to be avoided at all costs. It’s bad enough just reading the lineups and the subsequent comments. I suppose if Dems actually fought the bs it would be more enlightening and entertaining but most of the time all they do is rollover wanting to have their stomachs rubbed.
And what a platform he’s been given
OH boy, here we go, the Fox News AllStars “debate” climate change.
Liz Cheney completely ignores all the military warnings about it.
You won’t believe it, but I layed down to talk a little nap and slept for 4 1/2 hours and missed it. :( Guess I needed the rest.
Happy Valentine’s Day, pups! It is brilliantly sunny this morning here in NW Indiana, a rarity in mid-February. But only 16 degrees, so maybe a good day for some homemade soup. eCahn makes desserts, I make soup. Neither works too well for a single person. I give soup to neighbors and freeze some, and around this time last year, several neighbors and I had a soup supper. I provided soups from my freezer, they provided the go-withs, and we all had a great time.
I can’t stand to watch the talking heads, so I’ll wait until the clips of Rachel’s MTP appearance are posted online.
Perris, no Panera? The world just shifted on its axis a bit!!
My concept of climate change is based on the fact that the Arctic is melting: The Open Refrigerator Door Theory.
When you leave the refrigerator door open, you have a brief cooling effect on the kitchen, but the long term consequences are bad.
When I look at the global view of the world, I see the nations just below the Arctic, the areas closest to the Arctic are having record cold for now. Further down, we’re getting extreme weather variations.
The climate change deniers need to be asked if they’ve been outside their climate-controlled home lately….
Wow, I see it takes a lot of conservatives at the other end of the teeter totter to balance Rachel Maddow on Press the Meat. They have her outnumbered and surrounded, and that means she has them where she wants them, because she has one thing they don’t.
Ammo.
Is that called the Truth? Such a powerful thing and getting rarer.
Did you see Rachel’s visceral hatred/eye darts thrown at Harold Ford? Hilarious.
Harold Ford: “I have paid taxes in New York.” Which taxes would those be? You mean sales tax at Barney’s? Property tax? (Much scrambling behind scenes to weigh cost of paying overdue taxes vs. costs of running for office.)
Loved also adolescent Repub. congressman from IL being ganged up on from all sides. Go back to school, you youngin’!
Pretty good MTP.
Roundtable: David Brooks, Rachel Maddow, Fmr. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) and Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL).
Interestingly, caught the end of this. Seems Harold Ford wants to run for a seat in New York… he’s concerned about what people think about “carpet baggers”. He’s a good guy, unfortunate he has to lose his seat due to a sleaze-fest campaign by his opponent, but being a democrat in TN is a losing career.
Schock’s comments about Obama ‘not talking to any Republicans’ for the past year until now when they suddenly need it “because Scott Brown won” were Shocking. Rachel schooled him for that gaffe, but was way too polite. Sort of like Ariana Huffington when she asked Fox CEO Ayers, with a look of disbelief on her face, “what do you have to say about people (Beck) on your network saying people are being led to slaughter?” and he says, “Oh I know he speaks English,” (!)
They’ve gotta nail these guys harder. They LIE and LIE and LIE and Lie. It’s frustrating to see how they do it, and see how public opinion sways to them anyway. You can’t win The Game by just playing defense…
like,
deer me, there is a dear in my headlights?
peas!
while living in missoula, emtee, 1978, an environmental research engineer shared with me data possibilities presaging a precipitous (100 year) iceage phenomenom, affecting eastern canada and extending to the upper tier states east of the rockies. the data surmised a closed system where there is hot – there is cold – and there are the conditions between. conditions are determinative.
change the conditions, change the distribution of hot and cold.
ie, the wash dc snow job, and the vancouver bc winter olymics snow job.
peas!
