He’s working on something called “The Plan” (which seems to involve a book, although I’m sure he’s donating the profits back to “the cause) that will be unveiled at what he hopes will be a massive rally on Aug. 28 at the Lincoln Memorial, on the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King delivering his “I Have a Dream” speech at or about the same sport. But to work up to what he says will be a 100-year plan, Beck is starting out with a series of what he initially called “educational seminars” and he’s now calling “American Revival.”
It’s as offensive as it is stupid — so it will undoubtedly be given as much coverage as possible.
The Plan, is so much more than sounding like the plot of Battlestar Galatica. As you know by now, “the Plan” is entirely based on a re-writing of American history by a composite of John Birchers and pseudo-historians who, among other things, think slavery was rather awesome.
All commemorated on the same sacred Lincoln Memorial spot that gave us the vision of Marian Anderson and Dr. King.

Since I do not believe in wishing anyone ill. I will make an exception for Glenn Beck. May he receive a terrible case of IBS on 8/28/10. This way we can see his bull$h!t in the open.
The nazis had a plan or as they called it “the final solution”.
Phyliss Schlafly’s son is busily re-writing the Bible and now this freak wants to re-write history. Nothing much scares me anymore but these people scare me to death.
How long before Glenn will be offering his own signature line of Klan garb?
Texas is gonna make your kids’ history textbook say whatever Lonesome Loads and his pretty boy pastor want.
The TX State school board is populated by maniacs who have no idea of real history, so they’re hell bent on teaching the stuff of nightmares. Their saving grace is that they’re so abysmally ignorant, they have no idea they’re working from a zero sum budget and digging the schools deeper into debt every day, causing tehm to close before they do lasting harm.
Beck is crossing the border to serious mental illness. I mean that very much in the clinical sense.
or the 1000 year plan of the third reich might be a better comparison to glen’s 100 year plan
Ruth, my condolences if you live there. And that goes double if you’ve got kids or grandkids there.
I live here, but that’s because I have an elderly mom who needs some one watching her or she’ll be totally victimized by all the businesses that suck blood from elderly out here. My kids are in civilization, thankfully.
That’s why I call him Glen BecKKK.
Some one in tv needs to get a job at Fox. Camera, janitor, mail room anything, even entry level. Then maybe some day we can see you do a Lonsome Rhodes on Glen BecKKK or Sara Failin. Then just send them off to obscurity, faces in the crowd.
According to my weather news, it’s 30F in Waco, seems hell did freeze over!
that’s where I saw the billboard that said; Where is the BIRTH CERTIFICATE
yes, seriously.
Aw. mornin joe doesn’t like Gibbs dissin sarah
At least you have the Kinkster and Jimmy Dale Gilmore.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd and Friedman today. In “The Zero Parallax View” MoDo says the 3-D revolution has spurred people to desert their home entertainment centers and actually go into theaters. The Moustache of Wisdom says “It’s All About Schools,” and that by rebuilding Yemen’s educational system, the West could prevent the country from becoming an Al Qaeda breeding ground. Tommy, Tommy, Tommy… Rebuilding schools isn’t half as much fun as blowing shit up…
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes this morning. It’s windy as all get out here — the wind chimes outside my window that I usually hear only faintly are LOUD today. Have a great day.
And Dinosaur monument. All of 6000 years ago, and far far away….
gotz all the luck, don’t I
thanks, Marion, we build schools, and save the whole world, as you say, Tommy, tommy, tommy. We are ruining our own schools here,
but at least NYT is deploring the fear mantra from the wingnuts;
Politics of Fear here;

Oh I can’t wait! I bet there’ll be a good bit in there about Jesus being the original teabagger.
I’ll expect nothing less than a complete Battlestar Galactica ending to Beck’s plan: humanity almost entirely wiped out and remnants turned into an anti-technology cult.
Read the secret torture evidence
I wonder how is the torture investigation going in Congress?
And this little gem
Thank heaven for the BBC and the Guardian.
The Moustache of Understanding reveals the source of his wisdom this morning:
Friedman can’t afford the higher priced spread anymore, I guess.
I guess Katie ruined the cabdriver routine for him.
It is time we sprayed the Yemeni fields of Kat (qat, khat) with paraquat as it is an illegal drug according to the Great United States Rulers of The Whole World…well the planet anyway.
Not many cab drivers out in the desert in the middle of a medieval tribal war, either.
Possibly Tommy’s hosts have a picture of him with a bulge of qat sticking out one cheek and green drool dripping down his chin. I’d buy that for a dollar.
A further reading of the Khat information reveals that Beck is indeed a user
They have a big, state sponsored, cab driving academy in Yemen. with a model of parts of NYC laid out to teach the students where to drive. The US gummint has decided that these camps are actually terrorist training schools and are scheduled to hit them with drones very soon.
I guess thinking that NY cab drivers are terrorists is correct
Why do cab drivers hate ‘Murrica?
Gov Perry has announced he wants to use Predator drones to patrol the border. Next will he wear camos and cut brush?
You’re joking? I hope?!?
I wish. Nope, he’s out for the bigtime;
‘Texas Gov. Rick Perry, campaigning for re-election, has called on the Defense Department to deploy unarmed Predator drones to the Texas border to provide security and collect “real-time” data, The Dallas Morning News reports.’

Can’t you people take Te Deficit seriously?
Good morning all.
Hope everyone who has snow has such a pretty scene as I’m seeing right now on WashJournal.
Wow, that’s the stuff we parents were warned about in an anti-drug talk given at the local high school a few years ago. I think they said it was popular with immigrants (Nigerian iirc) who recently came to a large city near here.
OT condescending(ly)
Between Suzanne last night and Colbert, a new nom for quitter Sarah comes to mind:
Slackjaw Jezebel Fecking Retard (var. satire so it is OK)
/condescending
Paranoid?
Somalians in Portland Maine.
Frankly (and sadly) I think it’s somehow appropriate to the moment that Beck et al. make evermore public their disgusting schtick. It’s what happens, after all, when a nation is dying. Celebration of the darkness as if it was once light isn’t at all unusual. It does, however, offer evidence that the national death movement is picking up steam as time creeps slowly forward. First it was the permanent war economy that became a continuing groundswell after the Second World War ended, then the McCarthy era of hatred as a source of power, followed by the coup d’etat in November, 1963, and its concluding moment in June, 1968; then Nixon and his lust for power, finally followed, in 1980, by the elevation of Greed to the top of the national pedestal as its principal motivating factor. Then the tragedy of W — the final darkness, the descent into the maelstrom underway and likely irreversible.
Many of us fear the demise of the promise this nation once offered, and even as others revel in that demise, we gradually come to understand that our halcyon days are forever gone, that from now on all that will ever count is money and the power it can purchase.
America, R.I.P.
You know, I don’t want to question Mr. Beck’s integrity. Hitler had a 1000 year plan. Do you think Beck is trying to do in 100 years what Hitler was trying to do in 1000 years? Just asking?
Ruth – I too am in Texas, and I’m not sure if you share this sentiment, but I feel like our state is in some sort of devolution … I mean, I grew up in a shithole town in Alabama (actually where our new surgeon general Regina benjamin practiced medicine), so I kinda thought I knew the INS and outs of racism. These days, I can honestly say, I was wrong. I work with several civil rights orgs and we’re seeing unprecedented racist behavior (Ruth – are you familiar with Paris, Texas – that’s one of the hotbeds for the Aryans/Klan). People don’t get it and I’m so relieved this week that Keith, Rachel and Chris are as horrified as some of us are about this disgusting secessionist old south swing in our state. The Internet sadly has replaced the hood of the klan, but down here, we’ve all been on edge…especially since people like Glenn Beck somehow managed to hijack genuine populism and muddle it up with the already existing old school racist minutemen/secessionist/kkk/aryan movement that thrived in Texas long before sarah barracuda palin and governor 39% Perry who I’m fairly sure has harnassed the darkest beasts of GWB and is now going with it. Rick Perry and Sarah Palin are about as populist as Goldman Sachs. Don’t get confused people. There are a lot of different forces at work here. The tea party folks of Glenn beck are not necessarily the ones who would prop palin up as their leader, that is, unless they can use her. And either she’s too stupid to see it (see the footage – was she cool with the teaparty opening act speech about literacy tests and marginalizing Obama supporters into illiterate, undocumented folk that I’m confident he thinks acorn got the votes from? I don’t want to break her lil’ heart but she should look into how Texas treats those with special needs, a good contemporary example would be Aaron Hart, a 17 year old who cannot tie his shoes nor read/write and developmentally is an age less that 4 years old, who has an iq of 47 and was locked in with high risk adult sex offenders who repeatedly raped him in Lamar
County jail awaiting a show trial where the judge sentenced him to 99 years for a situation involving a neighborhood boy. Howard Witt from the Chicago Tribune (a friend) covered Paris extensively. If anyone wants more info, let me know.
Has anyone outside Texas seen the fact that one of the local reps is being challenged by a self proclaimed Nazi? I’m sorry fr rambling, but it’s getting scary, seriously, down here. You cannot find ammo/guns because they’re being stockpiled and have consistently been since Obama was elected. Don’t be swayed that’s a constitution thing. That’s all about race. So please guys, there are a lot of rational educated people who are starting to get the sense that somebody like me should start speaking up because we didn’t know the country didn’t know that it’s getting really fuc@ed down here!
This is an exhange I had on comments on the Houston Press article about Palin’s Houston this weekend. Please let me know if you need any info and continue coverage and talking about Texas’ total spiral into insanity and the seems hellbent on becoming the new confederacy.

pseudogotchajournalist says:
Ah, it’s so refreshing to see a news outlet actually report an accurate story on the Perry/Palin pep “rally”…I suspect much like me, you went to the thrift store, found a Roe vs Wade survivor shirt left over from the antiabortion people who are always busting their nuts around Planned Parenthood and walked in just a smilin’ and a noddin’ along. It felt a little like being black and attending a KKK rally. You get a little worried at some point – like my gaydar — they can sniff out the others…you know, the non-christian, antichoice, sodomists like myself. All I can see is yeehaw … Sarah P. was a rootin’ tootin’ Alaskan mavericky bubba-fying for all the white people, the um, conservative people and then back at it Monday — at the Get Motivated seminar! That’s change-y and hope-y and totally about the benjamins baby (GWB’s first speaking engagement too!).
But yesterday’s faux rally was something special. She just couldn’t quit taunting the liberal media elite. Oh Sarah, show those gotcha journalists that they ain’t got nothin’ on your redneck TelePrompter palm-a-readin’.And the crowd cheered, sadly not for Perry, but for Sarah. For it was as if Jesus had shine a light on all the obesity that is suburban Houston and performed the greatest of such miracles. Thunderous cheers for looser environmental regulations (have you been to Pasadena and inhaled recently?) and roars of hoe down enthusiasm for secession talk.
As for the number of people there, you’re right on, and I’d bet my colon on it were Perry supplied attendee #s Dallas Morning News said. Um, they started at 15,000, then it dropped to 11,000. Now it’s roughly 8,000 in most media outlets, here’s why it’s a lie. The arena does hold 11k (or at least the website says it does), but the rally was set up with an open floor, VIP mavericky folk and media. The upper decks were empty, thousands of empty SEATS filled w prewritten Perry signs like “Fed Bailout Bad” and “Agriculture Supports Perry.”
And if anyone cares to argue it, perhaps remember that we all have cameras. Oh yes, even regular old joe (and josetta) six pack. I have a camera (and plenty of now you see the posters in the empty chairs, now you see the Perry volunteers collecting them, now the seats are empty). Oh, and yes, I live in Texas. And I have never posted a message EVER on a message board before Sunday’s rally on any newspaper. And I am not a member of the Communist Party.
Is it my fault or the Houston Press’ fault that no one showed to wave these bogusly dick-tastic pre-messages? Can you really blame anyone here when a city of millions (and a city in Texas), the ever so wordy non-verbalist former Governor “Author” Sarah Palin & close your eyes, swear your hearing GW2 Governor Perry couldn’t pull a crowd in the middle of whitevilleburbia on a Sunday post church, pre Super Bowl (who dat!)?
Um, just FYI, stop masquerading as tea party people. Do you know the meaning of populism? You’re antipopulists. That’s ANTIPOPULISTS. I went to last April’s tea party in downtown dirty H-town. This was not the same crowd. Not even close. Did the teabaggers leave their firearms locked up in their motorhomes and gi-normous pickup trucks to attend the rally? Did they mind that messages like Obama is a Nazi and FEMA Concentration Camps Are Real were censored for Perry supplied, hand written posters? The “tickets” handed out at the door surely cost more for Perry’s campaign than the shitty posters reading, “Homescholers For Perry!” yes spelled like that…
Oh, has the rest of the world figured it out that Palin appeals to Texas people because Alaska is filled with big oil field workers who migrated up north! Oh my god, she’s probably from immigrant blood. In fact, I’d like to see her papers. Did she fly over Canada? Did she cross our border on her way from Russia/Alaska? If so, where are her documentation papers? Despite all of this, she did have one good point yesterday: “What’s it going to be?” Palin asked the crowd of about 8,000 (give or take 4 thousand). “The way they operate in D.C., or the way y’all get things done in Texas?”
The way we get things done in Texas is to be:
#1 in uninsured AND hungry children.
A state where almost one in three working-age Texans goes without health insurance.
A state where families are the second-most likely in the nation to be at risk of going hungry.
A state where more than half of low-income working families spend more than one-third of their income on housing.
… Highest uninsured in nation.
… Highest child poverty.
… Highest number of kids without insurance.
… 43rd in high school graduation rate.
… 7th from the bottom on spending on elementary education.
… 26th in gun deaths per 100,000 (Alaska is 2nd).
… 27th in per capita income.
… 30th in life expectancy.
