Michael Steele, chair of National Republican Party, and former U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr., chair of the Democratic Leadership Council, will share a stage at UALR at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, to discuss America’s future direction…
The event [is touted as], “Left, Right, and Forward: On the Future of America,”
Harold Ford is ‘left’? Like I said, it’s “Spy vs. Spy”, crazy versus lame! Apparently it is planned to be a series of debates, but at the end of the day, “There can be only One!” and yes, we have exclusive video:

Ford can go to Zell.
Ok, Ford, Ford, Ford…..come on now. There has to be someone else running (other than the Gopper). I don’t live in NY so I’m not up on it all. But if there is any kind of progressive running, and I don’t care if he’s a green or a socialist or a Naderite, who is it? Please, this yahoo can’t be the whole magilla.
Ford is to left as… i dunno, red is to blue? makes no sense.
This is the University of Arkansas Little Rock. With the Clinton School of Public Service graduate school. Whaja expect?
Don’t they both belong to the Scale and Crones secret Tea Party Society?
well, I for one am gratefull for the pillow fight, thanx!
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Kristof today. In “Florida, We Have a Problem” Ms. Collins says cutting a federal program is next to impossible because there’s usually somebody who cares much more about keeping it than the White House does about making it go away. Mr. Kristof is in Bukavu, Congo and sends us “From ‘Oprah’ to Building a Sisterhood in Congo.” He says in a land where so many “responsible” leaders eschew responsibility, an American has gone out of her way to assume responsibility and try to make a difference.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got toasted Thomas’ English muffins with your favorite jam. I’m trying to figure out how to deal with a conflict in my planned TV viewing… The Westminster Kennel Club dog show will be on at the same time as the Winter Olympics. We can record one to watch later, or run from one TV to the other… Decisions, decisions, decisions… Have a great day.
One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys* got up to fight, [*or men]
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
One was blind and the other couldn’t, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout “hooray!”
A paralysed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don’t believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!
The new deal w/o the deal?
Oh yeah…
“I challenged this private conrol and creation of money becasues it was alien to our constitution, which says congress shall have the rights to coin and regulate the value of money. I challenged this system of permitting a small group of citizens to create money and credit out of nothing, to issue it into cirrculation through loans and to demand borrowers repay them money which represented real goods, real labor, and real service.. I advocated that it be replaced by the american system-namely , that the creation and control of money and credit are the rights of the people through their democractic government.” Father Coughlin 1936
Jobless and starving people are things dictatorships are made of are they not?Only a foolish optimist can deny the dark realities of the moment in an opinion… the new deal by cheryl edwards
Reality revealed.
Ah, Father Coughlin… The father of hate radio…
Ford is going dowwwwn … Steele is so gangsta.
Ah the “We’re both so Right we’re always Wrong” Steel Cage match tour. Is Vince McMahon promoting this thing or is it Ed McMahon?
Sounds like a job for Chuck Norris.
“falsely insincere” = sincere, yes?
I just realized: they’re both black. I’m as proud of myself as Tweety! I thought about this for a whole hour (OK, maybe five minutes) before it struck me how far America has advanced!
The headline is profoundly unfair to Spy vs. Spy
Is there any chance the Americans are “practicing” in the Congo so they can try out that “responsibility” thing here at home?
Not sure why you brought this up in this thread, but Father Coughlin started out pro-Roosevelt, pro-New Deal. He ended up very anti-semitic and pro-Hitler. He became so toxic in his anti-semitism that the Catholic Church finally asked him to cease and desist, which to his credit, he did.
On the bit you quoted, though, on the question of money, he was and is basically right, I believe.
Clearly the writers at UALR missed their calling with the end of Vaudeville but sitcoms should be considered a fall back alternative. Both the views of the ultra conservative Ds and the irrational Rs will be out in force during this grand spectacle. IMHO this is more WWF that Spy vs Spy because they represent the same political spectrum not opposing viewpoints. The point is to entertain the audience and get them to come back for more in the future. The disagreements are contrived as in “wrastling”.
Ford is being positioned against Kirsten Gillibrand who was assigned Hillary Clinton’s seat when she agreed to be Secretary of State. I’ll bet she wishes she had never fallen for that one.
In my opinion Ford is useful only because he has forced Gillibrand to the left.
100% agree. Spectacle. WWF. Scripted.
