It must be wingnut week on NPR, because they followed up yesterday’s teabagger story with a piece on Big Wannabe, who tells them that he hates hates hates NPR.
“They want to control the narrative,” Breitbart says. “I’m saying, ‘No more!’ The new media has freed it up. I’m sorry, mainstream media. It’s over. Your ability to control the narrative is over.“
Also, he hates hates hates the GE-owned MSNBC and the neoconservative WaPo.
“MSNBC and The Washington Post, you know, go nuts trying to grant terrorists at a time of war all of the rights under the world, while James O’Keefe gets arrested … and they’re already framing him,” Breitbart says.
And he hates hates hates the entertainment industry.
Breitbart came by that knowledge through hard-won experience. He’s a native Angelino and hung around Hollywood, but was turned off by what he says is its smothering liberalism.
And he invented the Huffington Post. Also.
Through Drudge, he met and worked as a researcher for Arianna Huffington while she was a conservative columnist. That meant he also helped launch the liberal Huffington Post after her political transformation.
Help me out here, armchair psychologists.
Based on what you see here, Big Wannabe is suffering from a) delusions of grandeur b) a martyr complex c) paranoid personality disorder or d) all of the above.
(PS. And no, wingnuts, this post isn’t proof that Big Wannabe “must be doing something right” or that “we must be scared” of him.)

I mainly only listen to NPR on the weekends for the Sat entertainment shows, like Car Talk & It’s Only a Game & so on. Those are still pretty reliably good. The week day “fake news” shows: ugh. Rarely listen anymore, and when I do, I find myself usually having to turn it off before I bust a gasket or have a car accident. Mara Liasson? Juan Williams? Cokie Roberts? Spare me. If I want to listen to or watch Pirate Murdoch’s Fake “Nooz,” then I’d just tune there for a “mainline” hit. Why waste time “pretending” to get something “real” when it’s just fake junk voiced in a more “polite” way. At least with BilloRushSeanGlenn, they’re out front with their douchebagging lies. Spare me the ersatz “intellectualism.” BAH

As for Breibart: he is just doing what he’s paid to do by his corporate overlords. I’m sure he’s getting paid a lot to do it, too. He is as much of a tool as Glenn Beck, and by the way, pay no attention to the corporate overlord behind the curtain…..

e) An overwhelming desire to keep out of prison.
My analysis of the ramped up Right since Wall St. Obama stepped in, is the corporate elite’s way of making sure the people stay divided and unfocused as they drive a stake through our heart.
Their greatest fear is a united population.
Whatever these barkers scream about, OK, sure. Reality isn’t important, they serve a specific purpose. Obama knows and he doesn’t care. As long as he gets it done, all is well.
I say ignore them, don’t respond, don’t blog about themn. Don’t acknowledge them.
They’ll move on to make room for the next one. Let them.
Just don’t feed the beast.

Being wrong on Planet Earth Inverse has nothing to do with being wrong.
Clearly Andrew Breitbart is right. William Kristol is right. Frank Gaffney is right. Michael Ledeen is right. The Kagans are right. Michael O’Hanlon is right. Rush Limbaugh is right. Douglas Feith is right. So on and so forth.
Because if they were not right they would be discounted a great deal for being wrong correct?
If they were demonstrated to be wrong over and over this would finally discredit them and bring about banishment would it not?
Since none of these charlatans ever get banished from media exposure they must be right or so it is suggested then.
Incredible how that works. Well–works for them anyway.
Just when I think NPR can’t get any worse, it does. Having Bush apologists on there for eight years was bad enough, now they’re attempting to become the Fox-lite of radio news.
I agree with the earlier commenter; Juan Williams, Kookie Roberts, and Mora Liarson make me gag. It’s time for me to start listening to music during my drive to and from work. Probably put me in a better mood, too!

That dreadful woman on Sunday morning was one of the ones that finally drove me away. She has a habit, when “interviewing” people, of not listening to the answer to her question and sticking in her own opinions even though they are both rude and wrong.
Listen to audio books.
I gave up on Nice Polite Republicans years ago. Not, at first, because of their increasingly right-wing political position, but because of the local public radio magazine subscription. Reading through that, with gushing articles about $3.5 million home renovations, and advertisements for $15000 grand pianos, I realized I was not their target audience. Always hungry for donor dollars, public radio was seeking to appeal to the very wealthy, and so I figured what did they need me for? Then the longer I stayed away from public radio, the more jarring upon my return was it that their “expert commentator” rolodex was crammed with the usual right-wing suspects.
So. Apparently (not-so) Breitbart hates the very institutions that have given him money and a platform to spout his gibberish?
I know I’ve got no problems with his never again appearing on NPR, MSNBC, never again publishing op-eds for the WaPo0, and his leaving Hollywood and the entertainment industry behind..
I find it highly ironic that the same people who cheered the indefinite detention of Americans without charges or lawyers FOR YEARS freaked out when O’Keefe didn’t get a lawyer during his one night in jail.
There was a good thread about Breitbart and O’Keefe on Emptywheel over the weekend.

Who is this guy? I mean, I know who he is but are we supposed to care? He sounds like he’s one net away from a padded room. I never heard of him until last week and now he is everywhere.
This made me blurt out “See the penis — be the penis.”
Unfortunately for me, I get my music from an npr outlet, which also happens to be one of the few remaining independently programmed jazz stations in the country. Those npr folks sure know how to stay alive.

Sigh. I heard this piece coming on while in the kitchen – turned it off and took out the garbage. NPR actually often covers news the bigger outlets do not – sometimes things posters here complain are “not being covered at all” p- but then something like this pops up.
My instinct was to call and point out that Bush is gone and so is his insufferable CPB appointee. But once you get in a habit, I guess it’s hard to break.
Very frustrating.
Don’t forget their bringing in known liar David Horowitz to smear Howard Zinn, whereas they didn’t bring in any lefties to kick Bill Buckley’s or Bob Novak’s corpses.
Andrew Breitbart is an ungracious man who was scared shitless that his world might be threatened by actions like the events of 9.11.
As an ungracious man he reserves certain choices for himself that he would deny others. He reserves for himself the right to deceive and frame narratives. As an ungracious man he also chooses for others what he would not choose for himself, notably ‘disadvantage’.
Ungracious men do not contribute to the progress of societies. We might have remembered that from the last administration. Some of us did. Sadly, many in the current White House did not.
Until we become a Gracious Nation, choosing for others only as one would choose for one’s self, governed by gracious men supported by a gracious electorate, men like Breitbart will find an audience among citizens eager to share in justifications for their ungracious choices by imagining offenses where there are none.
These are the concepts at play in these silly self-manufactured tableaus.
Can we ignore these guys now?
They are hindrance to progress that will be overcome. They may rate a footnote in history but I doubt it.
I like “Nice Polite Reactionaries”, “Not Progressive Radio” and “No Progressive Representation” but I haven’t listened to NPR for quite a while. Their cheerleading for Bush charging into Eyerack when I was changing channels in the car one day being the absolute last straw. There is no doubt that being a smooth talking conservative with a thin veneer liberal sounding words is a more successful way to raise dollars. Possible references to current Ds in office is almost certainly purely accidental.

You are right that they, are right… They are in the limelight. they are on tv.
This new guy combines what would almost pass for an intelligent looking face
with what now passes for (almost… ” plausible” opinion.) That works.
No doubt he is a great addition to the media fare. The lowering of the bar now becomes a powered declination. In past cheaper, leaner, less, for less replaced what was something better… once upon a time. (theory of replacement: econ 1a) IE: Bad money takes over good money.
Dumb it down guys. Watch G. Will’s eyes in between his bits, calculating the next talking point.

I was unfamiliar with Breitbart until I saw him on Washington Journal a couple months ago. I remember thinking, this man is waiting on gasbag rush to die from hatefulness so he can take his place as chief hate-monger.
I thought about going to his website and sending forth a hearty “fuck-you, you hate-mongering piece of shit”, but then I reconsidered because I get upset when one of “them” comes over here.

Unfortunately there is money out there for people willing to spew hate (see Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter). I don’t think he’ll ever get to there league though because he takes himself seriously. The others know it’s a act and are willing to take the money and run.
