As I mentioned last week, Firedoglake has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few months. Our independent coverage of hot-button issues — from Jon Walker’s analysis of health care reform, to the unbelievable liveblogging of the Prop 8 trial by Marcy Wheeler, Teddy Partridge and David Dayen — has greatly expanded our audience, and presented new chances, and new challenges, for us to serve our community.
And so, we continue to seek the best and brightest to fill two great employment opportunities here at Firedoglake, which you can check out by visiting our jobs page. One opening is for a DC Political Reporter, who will have the exciting privilege of being our full-time political correspondent on Capitol Hill. The other is for a Deputy Managing Editor, who will coordinate, edit, and publish content from our wonderful team of writers.
Those of you who have already submitted your letters, resumes and writing samples–thank you! We are currently reviewing your applications. The process is still open, however, so we encourage all qualified applicants to jump to the jobs page, and get in the mix. We are especially interested in hearing from DC residents with journalism experience.
On behalf of the rest of the FDL team, I invite you all to check out our job postings and apply. We look forward to reviewing potential candidates over the next few weeks.

About Firedoglake
Gregg. As much as it sounds like working for FDL would be a good experience AND politically enriching, it would be enough to make a person slit their wrists reporting on the stuff this blog does. You have no choice but to basically be partisan, because besides the Dems, who have you in Washington? Nobody. So you’d have a pretty hard time being unbiased, and that isn’t just FDL that is having that problem, but all progressive blogs. Some have went so far, as to be turning away their regulars, because, as a contributor, you really have no choice. Look at any blog online that has been popular with the left for years, and go through the posting comments. The “regulars” are gone. Replaced by Dem cheerleading biased Rethuglicans The Sequel. It’s enough to drive you nuts. Literally. Then to top it off, with everything happening in Washington? Good lawrd, there should be rioting in the streets and not blogging. The anger is unparalleled. Don’t get me wrong, I’m overjoyed that the people like Jane, do what they do. It is needed. But after doing it very long, so would heavy drinking be needed, along with therapy. Good luck though. Hope it pays whoever gets the jobs well!!
Gregg. I would agree with canadianbeaver if there were no FDL, then I’ve have to slit my wrists. Here we find an outlet, a community, an information base, and a way to act.
Well, I might be interested in the Deputy Managing Editor position.
I’m currently Managing Editor at DocuDharma and have been since September of 2007.
Here’s my portfolio at DocuDharma and at Daily Kos.
If you think I’d be a serious candidate for the position please let me know and I’ll try and find a copy of my resume somewhere, though I might have to write one from scratch since I’ve been self employed for a long time.
