Maine Republican Susan Collins is commonly known as as the slightly more insane of the two Maine Senators who are slightly less insane than the rest of the Republicans.
But apparently she was determined to take an opportunity for ever-reliable GOP stupidity in giving the response to Obama’s weekly address.
“The Obama administration appears to have a blind spot when it comes to the War on Terrorism,” she added. “And, because of that blindness, this administration cannot see a foreign terrorist even when he stands right in front of them…”
And on this point and in the wake of Citizens United vs. FEC, Ms. Collins may be right:

Boehner, Cantor and Pence…pretty tough to identify 3 empty suits.
Is Ms. Collins up for re-election this year?
What blind spot? The last time I checked the US was still pissing bllions down a rat hole in two unnecessary wars and billions more on homeland in-security.
Hey Mr. President, these are the moderate Republicans you`re holding up progress in order to try to court. Might want to stop wasting your time and ours, hmm?
As they turn the crazy up to 13, the Republicans have left even Ronald Reagan in the dust. Man, these people have become monsters.
Glenzilla on Reagan
I didnt know Boner,Cant-der,and Pence were foreigners
Thanks to the Citizens United decision the foreign investments in the GOP election prospects they might as well be.
We recognized the foreign terrorists like those Israelis using white phosphorus against the citizens of Gaza? I wish. The right wing is depending on the weakminded for votes, and it’s not a bad bet. Sad for the country, but makes great politics if you don’t want to do the right thing for public intersts.
Good morning, pups. It’s Monday. You know what that means — it’s The Pasty Little Putz and Prof. Krugman. Oh, sweet, sweet baby Jesus… The Pasty Little Putz is taking on sex ed. God, I hate Mondays. In “Sex Ed in Washington” he tells us that federalizing the abstinence-versus-contraception debate drags the national government into a decision that should remain intensely local. Man, I’ll bet his Chunky Reese Witherspoon blesses the day he limped (no pun intended there, nope, none at all) away from their encounter. Prof. Krugman, in “Good and Boring,” says Canada’s regulatory habit of limiting the risk and leverage banks can accept helped protect that country from recessionary fallout.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. We’re launching into February, which here in Savannah means 28 days of cold rain. There’s a rumor we may see a glimpse of sun this afternoon, but the rain comes back again tomorrow. Fits my mood when faced with Teh Putz. Have a great day.
I believe we’ve already found out obama is a corporatist and i really didn’t expect him to do anything about the case, but I don’t think the critisism is fair, what could he have done if he was predisposed?
I don’t know about complaining about the weather in Savannah when you look at the weather map!
Speaking of foreign agents we must forget Liarman and Rahm, Israeli agents for sure…as for American terrorists, if the qualification for “terrorist” is to commit violent acts against civilians, well the number is in the thousands.
THE PEOPLE STILL HAVE THE POWER,AND WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR THE NEXT ELECTION CANDIDATES NEED TO BE SCREENED TO SEE IF THEY HAVE CORPORATE SUPPORT.
ANYONE THAT IS BEING PROPPED UP BY FOREIGN OR CORPORATE MONEY SHOULD BE EXPOSED FOR THE PUPPETS THEY ARE
thanx for the clips marion
the democrats miss a huge opertunity here;
“unlike the republicans, we are concerned with putting an end to teenage pregnancy, we have seen with no doubt, the “abstinance only” programs resuly in MORE teenage pregnancy
on the other hand, using the tools our maker gave us, education PREVENTS teenage pregnancy
why do republicans want unwed teenage girls pregnant?”
their heads would explode
Landrieu caper prep: Whole lotta typin’ goin’ on
NEW ORLEANS — Johnny Angel opened the door to his old, brick-faced duplex and saw them all there, typing away quietly on their computers just days before their hidden-camera stunt in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu’s district office.
“Man, it was laptop city in this place,” said Angel, known locally as the front man for the swing band Johnny Angel and the Swinging Demons.
I looked at tomorrow’s forecast…! (And I’m also going by history here.)
I’m not sayin it’s not February I’m just saying check out Fargo!
Oh, trust me, I know. There’s a reason I’m not living in Vermont any more!
I was just reading over at your site, I can’t comment at the times so if you want to co-opt my response to the krugmeister feel free;
our housing rates were deliberately under scored and sub-prime loans were pushed on homeowners who could not afford the rate and the banks knew it
the banks used the marketing strategy;
“but sub prime variable rate, when the rate jumps refinance since your house will be wort more, that will pay for a loan that is not variable”
I know this is what they did, the interesting thing, the mortgage bankers were operating in good faith, they actually thought the market would never crash and they were giving the strategy for best rates
but cheap un backed money in housing is what caused the balloon and subsequent crash
over-all banking rates were not involved in the housing bubble, it was the housing principles and strategies that caused it and crashed it
then when the balloon burst, even those who could afford their loan found themselves upside down and would be out of their minds paying down a debt that was secured with assets worth a fraction of said debt
Actually, widespread buying of the toxic mortgage bundles was caused by the ratings agencies, which the Fed was supposed to suprvise, giving AAA ratings which assured buyers that they were making sound purchases. Greenspan has admitted he knew it was wrong, but tho’t the effects would be so widely dispersed (as previously had happened) that it wouldn’t amount to a real crash, and that he was wrong. that he violated the congressional mandate he had been given is not something Greenspan has spoken to, for some reason….
But not so local that a woman has control over her own body.
Morning all
Yeah, it’s always relative.
I’ll probably always remember the Christmas I was in Hawai’i and called my sister. Told her it was a cloudy, nasty day and was supposed to rain so I was gonna have to grill the thick chops I’d gotten on the lanai rather than under the sun. Her response was that it was 13 degrees in New Hampshire and she was wedged between the franklin stove and the wall, running a fever of 102 and I needed to STFU.
Yea, it’s supposed to be in the 50′s today and that just ain’t that bad.
Good morning everyone.
Still firing up the brain.
What is the matter with Susan Collins’ voice? Does she have some sort of vocal chord problem?
We’re supposed to hit the upper ’60s in the Bay area but I’m not holding my breath ( we were supposed to hit the low ’60s yesterday and it never got above 55).
But it beats the hell outta single digits and snow (or ice)
Obama’s budget calls for increased spending on nukes: democracynow.
I don’t know which I enjoyed more, the “tremulous voice” reference in the headline, or the insanity descriptions of Collins and Snowe.
As a resident of Maine, I bristle each and every time these two are portrayed as “moderates.” They are anything but. GOP leadership lets them go all mavericky when their votes aren’t needed, but it’s a transparent charade to anyone who’s paying attention.
Well done Attaturk.
I thought I smelled something burning!

thanx Ruth, I agree with all that but don’t forget, mortgage bankers couldn’t push sub prime loans if the loaning agencies weren’t able to get that money
they wouldn’t be able to get that money if the toxic loans weren’t re bundled as triple A
your points facilitated the phenomenon in my post
I was blaming the fed even though krug did not, easy money without oversite is at the heart of it, rebundling toxic value into triple W was a result of that
thanx again for that info
Im with you….We’ve been in the gray 30s for days…with some wet. I know it’s not Fargo…it still makes me blue and cold!
“mortgage bankers couldn’t push sub prime loans if the loaning agencies weren’t able to get that money”
This is true – except in cases where seller and lender are the same, when no actual money changes hands. but that’s getting really technical, and is about chapter II in our economic tragedy, when builders got like car companies, making their money off of interest rather than plying their craft, in their case, building

definitely an overlooked factor amongst dozens –like not having a national guard to do the rescue and aid work for which they’ve trained.
we are now living in the first few years of klein’s “shock doctrine” administered by the chicago boys …

With fewer exceptions than a parrot has talons, which for the non-cognoscenti is six by the way, our President and all of our congressional representatives and senators collectively possess less intelligence than my terrorist parrot friend, Osama bin Nikki, or Mister Nikko as he prefers to be called when he is out and about in disguise.
As life on the planet as we know it proceeds well along the way toward mass extinction and the window of opportunity to prevent a worse outcome than the unholiest of the unholies approaches nanospheric proportions, President Obama stresses the importance of reaching bipartisan agreements, regardless of what people agree to do, so long as it doesn’t increase the deficit or restrict our nation’s conduct of war.
May the record reflect Mister Nikko’s response:
“F**k You, God Damn It.”
Whereupon, the esteemed senator from Maine, Susan Collins, speaking on behalf of all Republicans complains to America that the president wouldn’t recognize a terrorist standing in front of him.
May the record reflect that Mr. Nikko added,
“Especially if he were standing in front of a mirror.”
