Good thing that whole filibuster-proof majority was used so boldly and efficiently.

Hangin’ Tough |

Lots of people spinning for the White House over the Coakley loss. I don’t quite understand how it can all be the fault of the “left” who don’t support the President enough, and not a referendum of the President at the same time. Update: Election map of Brown vs. Coakley.
MA-SEN Election Results |

Coakley concedes: 46% Brown wins: 53% Well, here it is: Our first preview of the November elections, our first chance to see how voters are responding to the Democratic agenda. Quite frankly, it’s not looking very good. At best, Martha Coakley will win in a squeaker; at worst, she’ll lose in a landslide. Yes, every [...]
Classy: DNC Throws Martha Coakley Under the Bus |
| By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday January 19, 2010 6:27 pm |
Nora O’Donnell just now on MSNBC: I’ve spoken with a number of people in both campaigns, both parties. And I’m shocked, stunned frankly by the information I’ve received from a Democratic Party official already blaming Martha Coakley the candidate even before the polls close. This official telling me that in between that key period from [...]

Mass-Sen: How Quickly Could Brown Be Sworn In? |
| By: Bill Egnor Tuesday January 19, 2010 5:21 pm |
Brian Butler and Eric Kleefeld over at Talking Points Memo have a very good run down on just when the Senate might seat Scott Brown, assuming the Right wing Republican manages to win in the special election that is being held today. As we know from the Roland Burris and Al Franken seatings the Senate has a rule which requires the State certification of election or appointment before a new Senator can be seated.
The Republicans, knowing that Mr. Brown would be the vote they need to endlessly extend debate on the Presidents Health Care Reform legislation have been making all kinds of noise about this issue, claiming that the minute Mr. Brown is elected (if he is) that the current sitting Senator Paul Kirk not cast any more votes. This of course ignores the fact that he is a sitting U.S Senator until his replacement is sworn.
In Defense of Coakley: Democrats All over the Country Are Polling Bad |
| By: Jon Walker Tuesday January 19, 2010 4:10 pm |
Even before the polls close, the finger pointing has already begun. If she loses, many DC Dems want to put all the blame on Martha Coakley for running a bad race. While she probably did not run the best campaign, she’s not some political novice. She has previously won a statewide election to become Attorney General. In the primary she managed to surmount a very serious challenge from long-term House Democrat Mike Capuano.
It is important to remember that Coakley is not ane anomaly. All over the country, polls show that voters are not happy with the Democrats. Vic Snyder and Steve Driehaus were suppose to be in toss up districts. Polling last week by FDL/SurveyUSA found them to be 17% points behind their Republican opponents.
Voting for Martha Coakley (and the 21st Century) Is a No-Brainer; Please Help GOTV |
| By: Scarecrow Tuesday January 19, 2010 3:25 pm |
I voted without hesitation for Martha Coakley, this morning. The choice was a no-brainer, between someone who actually sees the world in 21st century terms and a cynical buffoon whose views are at least a century out of date, and they were wrong even then, and whose party is moving backwards.
