Shorter wingnuts: leave W. alone!
Conservatives, who often complain that Obama blames former President George W. Bush too much, did not appreciate Obama’s recitation of the facts. “The blaming of the past administration is pathetically unpresidential,” blogged National Review’s Kathryn Jean Lopez last night. On Fox News this morning, Brian Kilmeade asked former Bush adviser Karl Rove if it’s “good politics” to “bring up your predecessor and talk about your first year in office while looking back at his last year in office?” “No, I think it makes you look weak,” replied Rove.
Remember, these little tirades have nothing whatsoever to do with Obama’s speech. To wingnuts, all Democrats are always “pathetically unpresidential” and “weak.” The speech was just an excuse to say so.

arrogant is dog whistle for uppity
So? Karl has never been a fan of the truth….
Yes but if you say that when someone HERE says it you get blasted by “headliners” for being mean. Of course “progressives” or anyone who posts on FDL cannot be challenged can they?
NPR to have a piece on the Alito eruption….
So how long into the Bush administration were they still blaming Clinton for all the evils of the world?
Excellent work KO.
Thanks for the clip BT.
So far, one year after Bush left office…
You mean the truth as you see it or as he sees it?
I guess a website of left wingnuts is perfectly qualified to call out a bunch of right wingnuts.
Then there’e Olbermann… a leftwing Limbaugh wannabe (albeit way less successful) – could he be more shrill?
havfe the stopped?
Is that the truth as you see it?
Take your shrill and place it where there is no daylight.
I remember just last week they were blaming big dog for the 9/11 attack and the bush depression (which they call a recession)
Is he arrogant, too? Or is it only Obama who gets called that?
PS. It’s Krugman who’s shrill. Please keep your scorecard handy while trying to keep up.
Kathy just how much did your side blame Clinton for the economy, being weak on terror, etc.
Arrogant is the new Politically Correct version of Uppity? I guess all the guys Keith named got a Memo of Correct Terms from Karl.
Its impossible to believe they all chose the same terms to describe Obama.
I assume there’s a video link that I can’t get, so that may explain it, but the quote doesn’t seem particularly racist.
In the headline is a slur against Karl Rove, Rudy Guiliani identifying their race as part of the insult.
Pot, kettle?
ooohhh…fun…someone with no information comming to an informed site trying to “educate”
fun fun fun
stick around vore, quite a few people who thought they were “centrists” and thought this site was filled with “fringe” found out otherwise pretty quick, now reluctant participants in rebuilding this country from the depths of republican depravity
if you have a mind for yourself and are tired of being the marionette from your neo-cons calling themselves “conervative” and “republicans”, you will be a dog here at the lake
if on the other hand you are simply here thinking you have nothing to learn, that’s what will happen
I like leaders who are Arrogant if anything I want Obama to be more Arrogant and thats one of my complaints about him.
So how’d that sports broadcasting gig workout for Rush anyway?
Oh yeah, down in flames within a month.
I don’t like leaders who after a terror attack give in to Saudi Demands and let every Saudi including several members of the bin Ladin family leave without letting a single Cop talk to them.
Where was Bushes Stones then? Where was his arrogance when it could have been useful? Heck where was Rush’s and Bush’s when the draft was happening?
To control Bush control the oil the Saudis have his sad sack in vise.
I have no problem with the word arrogant, I also have no problem wishing obama had some of that stuff
I also have no problem considering someone is using racist code when they call a black man “arrogant”
conflicts, conflicts, conflicts, I have a bunch of them today
in addition, rush was given a national venue long before he turned a dime of profit, most of his income came from corporate sponsors not local advertising
it wasn’t until he was the only thing being aired across multiple broadcasts that he became popular
I wonder what would have happened if the same were done for a progressive using facts and populism instead of corporate propaganda
we’ll never know, corporatists would never support a progressive, nor could they
Economy likely grew 4.6 percent in 4th quarter
We do argue with the front pagers they argue back. Has there been more trouble recently?
I wonder if we could use that approach to relaunch Air America?
nope, my point here is to discuss the issue. Perris has no problem with the term either. When I see it used it triggers just what KO said. So, if someone uses it and I ask, “you mean uppity” I think that is a legitimate question.
Actual number out in a minute.
Good Lord, Rove came to the site again?
Hey folks just do not feed.
I should point out that the subtitle to the link i provided above is: “It would be fastest pace in almost 4 years, but growth could be overstated”
Real GDP grew 5.7% in the fourth quarter. BEA website seems to be down, or maybe too much traffic.
Here’s the news release.
rhandi rhodes out performed every conservative broadcaster when she goes side by side
however the concervatives have corportae sponsors and rhandi has to rely on local sponsors, therefore makes far less money even though she is clearly the better broadcaster
you must have meant to reply to TCU.
Check Fitzgerald on Rove truthiness…Rove had to re-do his deposition about 3 times….I know…poor memory.
Or, ask Ann Richards….he loved to lie about her.
Mornin’, BT, pups
Hope the trolls stick around for some Moose Turd Pie.
Any Republican will tell you it’s craven to blame a former administration for your problems. This is especially true when that former administration’s troubles were all caused by what Bill Clinton did.
Or Hillary….there really is no statute of limitations…
Fastest growth in 6 years….Nice
Hell, we could spend the next couple decades blamin’ St Ronnie of Rayguns for shit he did.
Have been hearing some pundits saying that this bump was the result of the stimulus and will likely go back down during the present quarter.
Awwww, I thought it was just praise for the Gipper…
Well, well, well. North Carolina’s own John Hood (of the oxymoronic John Locke Institute) makes it into the National Review. This denizen of state public TV “press” shows from two decades reflects the official opinion of rich white guy and uber-Republican Art Pope, the heir to the Variety Wholesalers discount stores business, branded as Roses, Maxway, Super 10, Bargain Town, Bill’s Dollar Store, Value Mart, Treasure Mart, and Super Dollar. The cheapest of the cheap making millions from the poorest of the poor. And funding these parts of the rightwing infrastructure:
John Locke Foundation – John Hood, Mike Sanera, Daren Bakst, Joe Collette, Ray Cordato, Terry Stoops – with “experts” Hamm, Martinez, Kokai, and Chesser.
Pope Center for Higher Education
Civitas
NC Institute for Constitutional Law
Republicans for a Legislative Majority
North Carolina Education Alliance
Foundation for Ethics in Public Service
Center for Local Innovation
NC History Project
Capital Monitor – Perry Morgan
Also a big donor to NC State University, Campbell University Law School
Ownership stakes in News and Observer (Raleigh), Carolina Journal, NC Spin, WPTF, WTVD
Hood, in other words, is a mouthpiece for a Rupert Murdoch wannabe.
OT. I wish you could see Angela…flat on her back, feet up. She thinks it’s still night…well, it is dark, cold, and wet…smart girl
Gonna be tough getting any answers out of Ann.
Here’s a discussion of the influence of the stim, both direct & indirect. Hatzius was expecting around 6% for the qtr when I heard him speak on the 20th.
Not really…she left lots of smart words.
Morning All.
Who was it that the former mexican president described, in his memoirs, as the most arrogant man he had ever met?
Was that the boy W? Or, just should have been?
Yep. I definitely wanna come back as a tiger. With my luck it’ll be as an alley dwelling tom in New York.
“To wingnuts, all Democrats are always “pathetically unpresidential” and “weak.” The speech was just an excuse to say so.”
Agreed when has the GOP ever said anything nice about a Dem who wasn’t dead? The GOP’s words might have effect if they were honest once in a while.
It was W indeed.
If you’re really lucky, I’ll adopt you. *g*
Probably accompanied by his Liar Boy Karl ;)
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
US KIA Irak: 4,374
US KIA Afghanistan: 973
Iraki and Afghan casualties: estimates vary to over 1.5M
US MBS 2010: 3,472 and rising
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
Namaste, SoDrag.
Good morning all.
No problems here
Great point Diary any solutions though?
Arrogant! Wait!!! They forgot condescending!!! Republicanspeak for being right (correct not anally retentively repeating talking points regarding lower taxes and unlimited funds in the military industrial feed trough for their pals)
new post up top…
Olbermann like Limbaugh picks a preditor then point to the pack and hollow attack.Gets the pack off subject.Health Care with Public Option or better.Jobs that produces goods we use every day.Keith you did it.The Progressives pack jumped on your command like a crowd in a riote on a suspected bad person.Keith Olbermann Worse Person
Didn’t Republic, Rudi Gouliani, say that no terrorist attack happened on W’s watch after 9/11, conveniently forgetting Richard Reid and several other incidents? In fact, didn’t Rudi try to blame the Reid incident as happening during the Clinton years?
Same for 9/11, I know that several rightwing pundits attempted to distract the conservatards by either hinting broadly or coming right out and saying that 9/11 happened under Clinton. So, rightwingers can bitch all they want about Keith Olbermann, but at least he deals in FACTS.
Yeah, yeah, the Gee Oh Pee will bitch and whine about every little thing that they can possibly think up, make up, lie about or twist the facts about Democrats… it is called the Republican Kabuki show (as opposed to our very on Democratic Kabuki show). D’s or R’s – two sides of the same coin with the same goal: to distract the populace from how very, very, very badly we are ALL (no matter what our political affiliations) getting royally screwed by our corporate overlords.
Conservatives who come to this site simply to cast stones at us dirty effing hippies should stick around, READ a few posts, and hey: THINK about what we’re saying. You might actually LEARN something, which is that YOU have more in common with US here than you do with Rush Limbaugh, who give a flying eff about you, your family, your church, etc. Rush exists soley to distract you from the truth about what is happening whether Republicans or Democrats are in “power.”
WAKE UP!!!!
thanks ecahn! just what i was looking for….
Yeah, KKKarl, criticizing your predecessor is so un-presidential that St. Ronnie never did it.
Oh. Wait.
Any honest accounting of past Republican incompetence and malfeasance is now “whining” according to the Republicans.
“arrogant is dog whistle for uppity”
Mack is absolutely correct. The media have become completely browbeaten by the GOP’s incessent cries of their being victims of reverse-racism. After Obama’s SOTU speech, Pence and Boehner appeared on TV, concern trolling over the President’s lack of humility. I’m still astonished by the shamelessness, and depressed by its continued effectiveness.
Chris Mathews is the one who said the true racial remarks. I am not politically correct. Progressives who like to school conservatives is a joke. You can only learn when you have an open mind. To think progressives have the answers to everything, and every conservative in the country is stupid, is basically stupid in and of itself. If progressives think progressives are great, we can discuss Woodrow Wilson for starters.
When they called Bush a nazi, what was that really meant to mean?
“To think progressives have the answers to everything, and every conservative in the country is stupid, is basically stupid in and of itself.”
Of course no one has said any such thing, but by all means, carry on.
Why does the title of this post include the term “racist white guys”? Did I miss something?
I voted for Obama, but I don’t support calling just anyone who opposes him racist. I disagree with many things he has done since becoming president. I’m not white myself, and I’m not racist. There are people, like some Tea Party activists, who make racially charged comments, etc. But people have a right to disagree with Obama or to just not like the guy. That doesn’t make them racist.
Gives another cringe of the radical decree in “Citizens” United v FEC. Mutli National Corps don’t have any impact on elections….way to build up money and power and buy elected office on something under the soil of another country.
Maybe Alito called Obama a liar during the SOTU because he knows there alrady is influence. In any case he knows how they shuffled a loser like him into the “highest court in the land” (maybe it will be reposesed and turned into a reat court for the public good – after all didn’t they also rule government could just take stuff if they could do better good (of course meaning make more $ – but you know non-$ also has rights!).
Did you watch the video?
Actually, Rove gets the framing talking points from Frank Luntz. Remember, the goal is an “ownership society” without defining who does the owning and who gets owned. That is one of Frank’s.
