We made a video at work yesterday. It took hours and hours, and we were exhausted. Making movies is hard work.

is everyone else feeling the january blahs? i got through the holidays by telling myself that once they were over, life would return to normal and things would calm down in january.

boy was i sure wrong about january…

windy in the mid-60′s today. i was gonna go shopping for skinny jeans, but i’ve lost enough weight now that today i walked on over to the part of the closet with the too-small clothes and lo and behold, i had a pair of skinny jeans that now fit me. windfall!

but was it fun?

i don’t have a pod – but i have a garage – ’nuff said.

i miss not having a garage. didn’t have one at the cabin either but i did have a packed to the rafters storage shed.

my hesitation is i’m up on the second floor and the doors are very narrow in this 100 plus year old house.

fair to middling. tired — seems like i’ve been tired all week and maybe even before. just a general blah the weather plays into. its been gray and blah outside most of this week.

but on the positive side, the days are getting longer and i had sunshine all afternoon today.

I know, I know! Gray, gray, no snow, no rain, not much of anything except crummy roads and yeech. BUT, all week it was light when I left work!!!

Wow! A wonderful experience..

well, to be honest, sunshine until about 15 minutes before sunset. the clouds returned.

I’m so looking forward to a sunset — one here last week for about ten minutes. But spring is on the rise here, I hope. February is almost always snowy in Cleveland, so we will see. I used to go to Florida then, but the Kiwi Motel washed away some years ago. Sigh.

Every day is a bit better than the day before. So cheering!

It was 50 degrees here almost and the dog wanted out a lot today, my couch potato beagle, that’s how I tell if spring is coming.

I did not need to wear a sweater indoors — that’s how I knew it was too warm outside!

Coyotes yelping all day behind my backyard fence. All critters are on restriction and have to stay inside. We found out that Tucker the cat can open the dog door when it is covered so we had to shim it shut.

I wish those canines would go live somewhere else.

Hello all — I’m looking for help with two computer issues. I’m on a Windows PC, usually run on Firefox. I need the path from the windows directory to the place where I can ‘clean out my cache.’ I know I’ve seen it before, but I just can’t find it.
The other problem is hiccupping videos. I’ve gotten to where I seldom try to watch them any more. They run for a few seconds, pause for several seconds; repeat ad nauseum.
Can any one help?

i’m back from the kitchen. there’s a big mess there. earlier tonight, one of the four lightbulbs in the fixture over the dining area table just went wild and exploded. pieces of lightbulb everywhere. i can’t make myself clean it up and now i’m scared of all my light fixtures. i’ll clean it up in the morning. IANANP. i am not a night person.

There is a pack of six running on the greenbelt these days. On two separate nights one walked down the street trolling for our pets. We take Wally and Suki
out right before bed. We had Henry our daughter’s minidoxie. He chased the coyote into the dark. I think the only reason he wasn’t taken is cause he is very black and they couldn’t see him. I make them go in the backyard now cause it has a high fence and the cat is kept inside at night.

i would love to have snow on the beach like we did for 4 or 5 days last winter. was the first time i’d ever had snow where i lived but…. maybe just for a day this time following by a warm spell. i’ve had my fill of 13 degree lows this winter already.

aw, i finished all the schooling for now, so i don’t get out your way.

i’m cleaning up my health act in the coming year. i had skin cancer on my nose. i went for a couple of consultations to my macrobiotic guy who was not impressed with my eating habits at the time (beginning of october) so i started eating healthy and making remedies. i could see my nose healing, but he recommended the surgery anyway, which i did on january 12, a week and a half ago. the macrobiotic consultant said he thought it’d take about a year for my general condition to get good so i’m making that my focus. and i can promise you that even though i feel better in many ways I AM ABSOLUTELY SICK OF NOT BEING ABLE TO JUST GRAB SOMETHING TO EAT SOMETIMES.

it’d be great to come through visiting to friends and relatives in oregon and california. maybe next summer or fall.

Life sure can throw curves.

My stepdaughter from 1981-1986 overdosed on Wednesday and passed on Thursday. Son is in Anchorage already to help his mom and nephews. My daughter and her husband will be up tomorrow morning, I’ll be up tomorrow night.

I’m really glad I didn’t use frequent flyer miles, was able to get my daughter and her husband from Kalispell and me from the bay area for a lot less than even bereavement fares.

It’s going to be good. I haven’t been face to face with my daughter for 14 years.

I called my daughter on Sunday to wish her happy birthday, left voicemail. She didn’t call back, so it goes… My son called me wednesday to let me know their sister had OD, died for 25 minutes, was revived, died in ambulance, revived again. I tried to give him some clarity and distraction. He used savings from combat pay to fly up Friday, called me to let me know his oldest sister had passed.

I called my daughter yesterday. She tried to tell me not to use FF miles to get her to Anchorage. I told her to think of it as a birthday present. It’s so good that I had the wherewithal. Bereavement fare was like $1200 rt, FF miles were just sitting waiting for time of need. Very good feeling to be able to help. I think my son was surprised I acted quickly.

My daughter is an adult now. I don’t think she understood me being there the day after DNA results showed my sperm didn’t make her to tell her she would always be my daughter when she was 14. Good to be able to demonstrate that she will always be my daughter again. It’s so clear to me. And I think she gets it too.

i hope so wmd. there is so much more to being a father than just the sperm. now that she is grown, she can hopefullly understand that and you guys can move forward instead of looking at the past.

I have raised two steps just like my own. There are differences but as long as you are there for them they will always be yours. And I am lucky I know they love me.. they tell me often.

I knew back in 96… her mom told me test results and I went from San Diego to Seward the following day to tell her she was my daughter forever.

Her biological father is a bad person. Neglect and abuse of three children during the time he had custody of them. My former step daughter contacted him very close in time before her OD, she may have been dosing to deal with pain and miscalculated or taken extra because pain wasn’t alleviated.

I’m not familiar with laser spotters in astronomy. My intuition says lasers could be useful in measuring deviations in mirror geometry, but that would be much more applicable to Keck mirrors (36 segments) than Gemini mirror (single blank).

Gemini is at the forefront of adaptive optics technology and the laser is instrumental in that effort… They claim they’ve gotten clearer images than Hubble with their adaptive optics techniques…!
